Witness the magic of Uncyclopedia!

Hello Username18, and welcome to Uncyclopedia! Thank you for registering an account. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If not, the door's right over there... no, a little more to your left... Yes. You seem to have a sense of humor, but to be sure that it corresponds to the kind of humor that is accepted on this site, I suggest checking out the following links:

  • Beginner's Guide - A massive guide about how to be the best you can be at Uncyclopedia. I've honestly never read the whole thing in one sitting myself, but it is very useful if you're looking for help on a specific issue.
  • How to be funny and not just stupid - Our flagship link. This will tell you how to not get booed off the metaphorical stage that is Uncyclopedia. I STRONGLY suggest reading the entire thing through, perhaps more than once.
  • Our Vanity Policies - This page details why we don't care about your friends, your school, your gay fourth period math teacher, or the homework he has you do, and in-jokes. DO NOT violate these rules.
  • Uncyclopedia:Best of - For a bit of inspiration. These are our featured articles. This is the kind of stuff we like to read around here.

Now that that's out of the way, just continue reading and you'll notice some more links. These ones are about help in general:

At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but I do recommend it, it can be quite enjoyable, and it's a good chance to let others take notice of your writing. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Username18/Article about stuff) so you can edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done put the "Work-In-Progress" template - {{construction}} - onto it as well.

If you want to write and don't know where to begin, consider browsing our rewrite and idea categories. There's also a page with requested articles, if you'd rather start from scratch. We have lots of articles and red links just sitting around waiting to be edited, so don't be afraid - dive right in!

If you need help, ask me on my talkpage, ask at the Dump, or ask an administrator on their talkpage. Additionally, the Adopt-a-Noob program is there to bring experienced editors straight to you. Simply leave a message on an adopter's talkpage to join. I hope you enjoy editing here and being an Uncyclopedian, and remember: Have fun with it. We're all here to have a good time and a good laugh. Please sign your name on talkpages using four tildes (~~~~) or use the "sign" button (Button_sig.png) above the edit box. Again, welcome!

edit Hello, and welcome!

Nice start of your userpage, and you seem to be able to put one word in back of another in reasonable style. So, you're one of us. Please come to a party, settle in here, and go about and meet some people (a good way to see what's going on is to keep going on the "Recent changes" tab way up on top over there on the left, the fifth one down from the top). And just have fun! Aleister in Chains 1:27 25 5 MMX

My idiot brother wrote this but fears it may not be rude enough to Australians. You just may be the person to help him. --I'mthedaddy 20:33, May 30, 2010 (UTC)

Ah, I see my retarded relative has preceeded me. Thanks for the Pee, I'm glad you liked it. Feel free to Australianise any parts that don't sound suitably australian - I'm Welsh, the closest i ever got to Australia was Cape Town, which is at least in the same hemisphere. --Sog1970 11:08, June 5, 2010 (UTC)

edit I've noticed...

A couple things. You did a couple pee reviews, pretty good ones. And you ICUed a couple articles, which was a bit less good. You were right about what needed to be fixed most of the time, but were sometimes perhaps a bit too harsh. Also, try to use the |sub= function more, as detailed here. Welcome and keep up the good work! Sir SockySexy girls Mermaid with dolphin Tired Marilyn Monroe (talk) (stalk)Magnemite Icons-flag-be GUN SotM UotM PMotM UotY PotM WotM 07:58, 6 June 2010

Yeah, those reviews were good enough, but try to give more advice for good articles. Otherwise, you're looking like a promising new reviewer and I look forward to see more of your reviews. :)--Sir HELPME Talk (more? --> CUN ROTM NOTM Pleb USS Pees SK ) On Sunday, 08:05, June 06 2010 UTC

Hya, I'd like you to drop this template. Basically it's seems like something very similar to ICU only a bit more insulting and without actually going into the maintenance queue, so no one will look into it past the deadline. I can either delete it completely or move it into your userspace. Which do you prefer? ~Jewriken.GIF 20:15, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

edit UnNews:Amnesty International unfriends Uganda

Congratulations on being the first (and second!) UnNews reporter of 2011! One of your stories has been nominated to run on the Uncyclopedia main page. But both articles used all-initial-capitals in the headline, which I've fixed. Our style is to only capitalize names, as you see above. (In fact, if you have a spare week, read our Style Guide.) Cheers! Spıke Ѧ 11:36 1-Jan-11

edit UnNews:Bin Laden captured after checking-in on Foursquare

This is the same exact comedy strategy as the article that Funnybony nominated for featuring, but this one is better developed. Another user and I have been applying our typical style to it. The only thing that frustrates me: you are inconsistent on where to put comma and period; we do it inside the quotes. Stuff like this you'll learn as you do more of it. You've got the 1-spot on the UnNews Front Page. Spıke Ѧ 02:51 2-Jan-11

Thank you very much.--Username18 05:26, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

edit User:Username18/UnNews:Dubai shooting is first accurate Jewish conspiracy theory

I've moved this one to your userspace for a little rework, at which time you can move it back to UnNews, preferably with a shorter headline like the one I've chosen.

Foremost, the article never tells me what happened. The first paragraph tells me what led up to what happened. You can be as ambiguous as you like, but it's got to do this to look like a news story.

And consider reworking it further. We know how Mel Gibson talks, we know how Mossad/Israel talk, we know how diplomats talk, but it reads as though you are sprinkling these caricatures on the page and expecting instant laughter. They need to have a purpose behind them.

Finally, I'm glad you are moving closer to tackling actual current events--I comment on your VFH nomination that the Facebook story could, without much extra effort, have been fit to the violence actually erupting now in Ivory Coast. But Sources tells your reader where to go to find real news to compare your UnNews story to, for additional humor. It is not to chat with the author. If you don't have a specific source, just slap {{Original}} on it as usual. Cheers! Spıke Ѧ 13:22 2-Jan-11

Assuming it will be tomorrow before you get around to this, rather than use the move button to change the prefix back to UnNews:, create a new UnNews story and cut-and-paste the text back in with such changes as you see fit to make. That way it will go back to the top of the Recent News column. Spıke Ѧ 20:24 2-Jan-11

Thanks very much for the feedback on the article you moved. But, to be honest, I think I may just want to delete it. The article just sort of came about while I was goofing around on Microsoft Word. I just started typing about the Mossad conspiracy, just seeing where it lead me and pretty soon I had something that could look like it could've gone on UnNews. I agree with all your criticisms, but I think they all stem from the fact that it wasn't the greatest idea to begin with, especially seeing as how I was trying to write about an event that happened months ago.

So (as I'm sort of new here), do I have to put my own article on VFD or QVFD or is there a quicker way?

I expect you'll see this tomorrow, so no rush for an answer.

Oh, and THANK YOU for the audio. I listened to it and it was great. --Username18 22:55, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

No, it is only 6pm here (Eastern USA). I am not an Admin so you should list it on QVFD yourself. VFD is for articles at least a week old--We have recently revived old debates about how well this applies to UnNews, but bottom line, VFD is where we need five independent readers and a vote, not for an author deleting his own creation. Thanks for the compliment regarding the audio. Spıke Ѧ 23:09 2-Jan-11
PS--The story of yours that I preferred now has its own VFH nomination. My guess is that that act will take no votes away from the existing nomination and that you'll get two stories on the Uncyclopedia main page in the same week, awesome. Spıke Ѧ 23:11 2-Jan-11

edit UnNews:Toyota releases new hybrid: part car, part deathtrap

Clever! But make it look a little more like news or UnNews: a few links, and name your sources--any suitable name will do. It helps the feel of the read if it's full of specifics. That's one advantage of keying off a wire-service story: you can grab names from there. Spıke Ѧ 00:24 3-Jan-11

edit Variety is the spice of humor

Mate! Great to have you. Just a tiny bit of advice that I wish someone had given me. If you strike gold on a topic or humor angle, then immediately find another angle... don't repeat. Like the social network joke, there are a 100 ways to tell it, but it's still the same joke. I made that mistake. People liked my article so I thought, "Great, I'll keep doing that!" - mistake! Learn from our experiences. Variety is the spice of life. Don't get stuck. Avoid repeats, back to back. Looks like you're headed to an FA. And many more. Good on ya!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 10:18, Jan 3

Ya, thanks for the advice. I stated on the talk page of the farmville UnNews article that that one would be the last social networking article I do (for the very reason you just said). I just wanted to do something with FarmVille and then be done with the whole subject. I hope to move on to other, possibly more obscure topics in the near future. Thanks for the kind words AND for the nomination! --Username18 10:40, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

Goodness! Funnybony delivers the point before I can make it; and meanwhile Lyrithya moves an incomplete article to userspace with courtesy and completeness! I will have to sleep less in the future. Spıke Ѧ 12:06 3-Jan-11
An afterthought, and this is coming from the archetypal nerd who sprinted out of the gate at the sixth-grade track meet and had all the girls cheering. (Yes, I did finish last.) If your three-a-days mean that you will hit a brick wall by the tenth of the month and run out of creative material, consider pacing yourself and storing up stories for future days, as Funnybony sometimes does. Spıke Ѧ 14:07 3-Jan-11
Right, Spike. But with current news its hard to wait. Original UnNews can kinda come anytime. But doing articles in excess is a prelude to it becoming a burden placed on oneself. Can't let that happen. Looks like the dude has his first FA. Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 19:34, Jan 3
Well to be honest, my articles sort of just come about by me goofing around on Microsoft Word in my spare time. I feel it gives my brain a work out (Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training ain't got nothing on this) and I honestly never thought these articles would actually be thought of as good. But if they are considered good, then I should probably put a bit more planning and development time into the articles. And if I do that, I think (for my own health) that I'll limit myself to one or two a day (unless there's some idea that simply can't wait).
I thank both Spike and Funnybony for your advice and support to a n00b like me. I very much appreciate it. --Username18 21:23, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

edit Vote FOR

Good on ya, mate! You zoomed to 10 votes in 3 days. I sincerely suggest you also vote more on VFH. Like vote FOR your own article - that will bring it to 11 and almost insure its being featured next. Please vote on your own articles, unless you think they're no good. Just for the fun of it. Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 19:44, Jan 3

I thought you weren't allowed to do that because it made you look like an arrogant piece of s$#t! But if you say so, I'll do it right now! --Username18 21:24, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
Self-votes only look fishy on Award noms. But most all writers self-vote on VFH noms. It's all in fun here, so no worries, mate! Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 07:49, Jan 4

You then voted for yourself for the Foolitzer, and unvoted after I pointed out that you were talked into it by said arrogant piece of s$#t. I reverted this move, noting in the Change Summary that this was a gentle poke at Funnybony for chronic self-promotion (to which he freely admits) and not a criticism of your vote. If you insist, you may revert me; or if you like, I'll clarify my comment if it sounds like criticism. (By the way, in general, neither of us should do this; on talk pages, one strikes through remarks rather than deleting them, which in some rare cases leads to charges of trying to change the record of what was said.) Spıke Ѧ 23:46 3-Jan-11

Just s slight misunderstanding. I recommended Username18 vote on his own VFH article - after he had already reached 10 and did not need it any more. But I was NOT referring to voting on prizes/awards. I don't self-vote on prize-award noms, But I do self-vote on VFH and that's what I referred to. On the other hand Spike never votes on VFH, not for himself nor anyone else. Which is cool too. What Username18 needs to understand is that Spike and most all others are joking - which is not always apparent - but true just the same. And so was Username18 in the Foolie vote, and Lyrithya in comments too. Everyone is joking. So, UN18, don't worry. In general self-vote for VFH noms but not on award noms. Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 07:49, Jan 4

edit On Spike & Voting

Good on ya, mate. Just a quick note on Spike as you're on UnNews and he is the de facto editor. Spike is an expert. And also has a unique sense of humor. It might seem like Spike is insulting, but he's really a good friend and that's just his humor. Spike is really being nice and funny, in his own way. Those who understand that, they appreciate Spike - which is most of us. The other thing is voting on VFH. Spike is the only writer I know who doesn't vote on VFH. Most all other writers, including the best writers, not only vote often on VFH but also vote FOR their own articles. That is good, not bad. Because you have a vote = 1, why not use it? It also shows the other voters that you believe in your VFH nom - a positive sign from the author (you). I had a few articles nommed that I didn't think were good enough for an FA, even though someone else did, and I not only didn't vote for them, I also asked an admin to please remove them from VFH. In general it's good to read all the articles on VFH and vote for the funny ones. The more positive energy you put out the more you will receive in return. Become a voter. No worries. It's all in jest! Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 08:32, Jan 4

Yeah, the only reason I didn't vote for any of my articles is because I simply wasn't familiar with the whole voting process (seeing as I've just really started doing stuff around here, I guess you could call me a n00b without hesitation!). But thanks to you and Spike, I now know what to do and what not to do about voting, and I thank you for that.
And on Spike, he hasn't come across to me as insulting, rather as constructive and helpful, which has helped me out as a new writer. I have read some of his UnNews articles, and I certainly appreciate his humour. It doesn't surprise me he's the de facto editor.
And I thank you for all your help and encouraging words, Funnybony. It's made my start to Uncyclopedia a solid one. Thank you! --Username18 10:14, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

edit More unasked for BS, thank me very much

Well, mate! Looks like you're up on the cover with your first FA tomorrow (Wed), unless something unexpected happens, which is always possible DONE DEAL. Once featured you can delete your "No Features" template. BTW: Here is a good advice, as I learned from Guildy and others, it's cool to send a "thank you" template, picture or text, to all those who voted for your article by looking them up on your VFH nom page (found at Recently Featured link), then visit each voter's talk page and thank them. People do appreciate that. Especially as it gives you another chance to be funny. A thank you can also be a joke, and should be a joke. It's not a rule, but it's just nice, and you can never go wrong with "nice". Congratulations! I still remember my FIRST FA was Mecca Vice (<-THIS is called whoring) Saudi TV show. So we all remember the feeling. You'll never get so little after giving so much and still feel so good about it. And if you get THREE FAs then you get into the Hall of Shame. Haaaa! What a rip!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 14:32, Jan 4

I like it! Would you do one thing to make it read more like news? Give the names of the Greeks you are quoting. Any names; probably Greek; I don't care where you find them. Also, I fixed a few typoes; software can do this better before you submit! Thanks for the story! Spıke Ѧ 00:01 5-Jan-11

Nice work! Congrats. When you went missing for most of January some of us thought you had drowned in the backwaters. Did you and your family come out of the floods okay? Cats and doge, gone? News reporting is fun here, and by your two quick features (don't expect such success for each story, but who knows?) you have fun writing them. And most news is worth satiring, as the people actually living the stories are usually so ridiculous or corrupt that they make it easy. Aleister 12:04 2-1-'11

Haha, no I was in the wrong state (New South Wales) to be affected by the floods. The reason I was silent was because I was on holidays at the beach. I probably should have told someone, but I didn't know who to tell about it. Or that anyone would care. I certainly look forward to lying through my teeth by bringing the community more UnNews. --Username18 KUN FP 05:49, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

edit Thanks too, to you!

Thanks for everything, esp. for voting for me for the Foolitzer Prize. That is really an honor, as the UnNews (as you well UnKnow) is one of the wiki's most important sections. You, as one of if not the main Australian reporter, report on both an entire continent and the whole world (including its oceans). I see you have a lot of SPIKE messages above. I miss SPIKE, he was one of the better guys to talk to around here, and was always on the ruff side, like a non-friendly news editor with a heart of gold. I put up a pic at the top of his talk page to try to lure him back, even for a minute. Thanks very much again, and we should get together for coffee in the newsroom. SPIKEd coffee (sob).
