Mermaid with dolphin
Welcome to the wondrous world of Uncyclopedia!

Hello, Triflic Anhydride, and welcome to Uncyclopedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If not, the door's right over there... no, a little more to your left... Yes. You seem to have a sense of humor, but to be sure that it corresponds to the kind of humor that is accepted on this site, I suggest checking out the following links:

  • Beginner's Guide - A massive guide about how to be the best you can be at Uncyclopedia. I've honestly never read the whole thing in one sitting myself, but it is very useful if you're looking for help on a specific issue.
  • How to be funny and not just stupid - Our flagship link. This will tell you how to not get booed off the metaphorical stage that is Uncyclopedia. I STRONGLY suggest reading the entire thing through, perhaps more than once.
  • Our Vanity Policies - This page details why we don't care about your friends, your school, your gay fourth period math teacher, or the homework he has you do, and in-jokes. DO NOT violate these rules.
  • Uncyclopedia:Best of - For a bit of inspiration. These are our featured articles. This is the kind of stuff we like to read around here.

Now that that's out of the way, just continue reading and you'll notice some more links. These ones are about help in general:

At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but I do recommend it, it can be quite enjoyable, and it's a good chance to let others take notice of your writing. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Triflic Anhydride/Article about stuff) so you can edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done put the "Work-In-Progress" template - {{construction}} - onto it as well.

If you want to write and don't know where to begin, consider contributing to Uncyclopedia's current colonization of the week, a group writing project to improve a single popular article. Anyone is welcome to contribute, so come help out! If the current colonization doesn't suit your fancy, then browse our rewrite and idea categories. We have lots of articles just sitting around for someone to improve, so don't be afraid - dive right in!

If you need help, ask me on my talkpage, ask at the Dump, or ask an administrator on their talkpage. Additionally, the Adopt-a-Noob program is there to bring experienced editors straight to you. Simply leave a message on an adopter's talkpage to join. I hope you enjoy editing here and being an Uncyclopedian, and remember: Have fun with it. We're all here to have a good time and a good laugh. Please sign your name on talkpages using four tildes (~~~~) or use the "sign" button (button_sig.png) above the edit box. Again, welcome!

edit QVFD

Thank you for correcting this error, and the two pages are deleted.

In the future, it's neither necessary nor sufficient to tag a page with {{QVFD}} if it needs to be deleted. This just puts a garish box on the page and does not inform us of the mistake. Instead, list the page(s) at UN:QVFD, being careful to follow the format. Admins review that page more-than-daily. Thanks again. Spıke Ѧ 13:25 26-Feb-13

edit History of Singapore

This article was not in the best of shape, but "moving" it to userspace "for further construction" and then scooping out the contents is essentially page deletion, which we do by consensus and vote at Votes for Deletion. You are welcome to prepare a better page and we will welcome its arrival into mainspace, after you return from a brief 24-hour ban. Cheers. Spıke Ѧ 14:26 26-Feb-13

Back from your ban, you comment by Change Summary: Sorry about the page-moving; am doing partial rewrite. Thank you for communicating; however, I do not see this, yet, as a rewrite; I see what you are doing as more blanking. Please develop your alternative in userspace. We are always eager to replace mediocre mainspace pages with alternatives that are better, once you write it. Spıke Ѧ 14:30 27-Feb-13

I'm sorry, I was not intentionally blanking. I only removed the section at the bottom which I believed was substandard. I have also made substantial changes to the rest of the article. I apologize for any misunderstandings.--Triflic Anhydride (talk) 14:34, February 27, 2013 (UTC)

No, it is I who am sorrier; having reviewed your edit, rather than just the page differential, I see that a worthwhile edit is underway. Spıke Ѧ 14:35 27-Feb-13

Thank you SPIKE. Sorry to have caused any misunderstandings with my initial behaviour.--Triflic Anhydride (talk) 14:37, February 27, 2013 (UTC)

Moreover, I am switching on your autopatrolled flag. This will not affect you in the least, but will cease flagging your edits with exclamation points in the change log, reducing the overall suspicion level. (I shall work on my own.) Spıke Ѧ 14:49 27-Feb-13

edit Regarding use of QVFD

Hi Spike, I'd just like to check if self-nomming my old userspace articles (which I'll probably never finish) for QVFD is allowed. Forgive me if this is a very basic question but I'd rather not make another noob mistake.--Triflic Anhydride (talk) 10:53, March 28, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, you are in charge of your own userspace; also, a request to delete an article to which you are the only contributor should be granted (unless, for example, it went on to become a main-page feature). Which articles do you want deleted? Spıke Ѧ 10:56 28-Mar-13
There are quite a few of them. Should I put them on your talk page or take the discussion to my own to avoid clogging up yours?--Triflic Anhydride (talk) 11:00, March 28, 2013 (UTC)
All right, here we are. Fire away. Spıke Ѧ 11:03 28-Mar-13
Thanks Spike. The ones which are unambiguously deletable are the following: User:Triflic Anhydride/ HowTo: Craunch a Marmoset, User:Triflic Anhydride/UnBooks:Organic Chemistry for Dumbasses and User:Triflic Anhydride/Fire safety. User:Triflic Anhydride/History of Singapore is a bit pricklier; as you may remember I created it in my ill-advised move that landed me a block. However, the contents of the original article were basically all mine - User: only added redlinks. Sorry for the sheer numbers of pages; it comes when you return, older and wiser, after a four-year hiatus and realise how inane your prior sense of humour was.--Triflic Anhydride (talk) 11:09, March 28, 2013 (UTC)
All gone. "Fire safety" was interesting. Personally I dislike the preachy HowTo genre, but an article on fire safety that focuses on the safety of (not from) fire is a neat concept. Spıke Ѧ 11:19 28-Mar-13
Thanks Spike. In addition, do I need to clean away any images now left orphaned by the article deletions?--Triflic Anhydride (talk) 11:22, March 28, 2013 (UTC)
I would, unless you think some are inherently useful in the future, in which case edit the page in the File: space and add them to a Category by appending, for instance, Category:Buildings--also making the file's description as useful to (and searchable by) other authors as possible. Spıke Ѧ 11:31 28-Mar-13
I see. In that case, the orphaned files are the following: Image - The Falling Man.jpg, Image - Craunchy Marmoset.jpg, File:Fire Extinguisher with Swastika.jpg, Image - Firefighter.jpg and Image - Lecter.jpg. As an aside, is it still possible to email other users?--Triflic Anhydride (talk) 11:43, March 28, 2013 (UTC)
Also, this may seem like a strange request, but could you also delete History of Singapore? To be honest I'm not proud of it at all. I would rather start from scratch and hone my writing skills before trying again. I understand I'm asking a lot from you as an administrator, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience I have caused you.--Triflic Anhydride (talk) 11:47, March 28, 2013 (UTC)
The pix are gone. Take History of Singapore to Votes for Deletion. The email function was disabled after a lot of abuse of it. Spıke Ѧ 12:05 28-Mar-13
I see. However, the page is entirely my content. I'm sorry if I've overstepped my boundaries, but is it counted as deletable?--Triflic Anhydride (talk) 12:07, March 28, 2013 (UTC)
Asking questions is never overstepping a boundary. However, legally, you ceded all rights to exclusivity in creating the article here; and administratively, the article is a longstanding piece of mainspace, not by far the worst piece, and I won't delete it without a vote. Spıke Ѧ 12:48 28-Mar-13
I see. Thank you for taking the time to assist me. Given what you have said, perhaps I will leave it up then. --Triflic Anhydride (talk) 12:53, March 28, 2013 (UTC)
Hi Spike, sorry to trouble you again; but do Uncyclopedia users have a "right to vanish" like Wikipedia?--Triflic Anhydride (talk) 02:17, March 29, 2013 (UTC)
Of course. I did once. However, accounts are not deleted, as I don't think they are on Wikipedia either. You cannot unmake the fact that you were here. Spıke Ѧ 02:23 29-Mar-13
I see. But is it possible to delete my user and talk pages and rename my account to "Vanished User #XXX" as per Edit: Sorry, I'd like to clarify that I understand that vanishing is not a legal right granted to me, but a courtesy from the community. I'd strongly appreciate it if you would allow me to vanish thus, though I understand you are under no legal obligation to do so.--Triflic Anhydride (talk) 02:26, March 29, 2013 (UTC)
Believe me, it is not worth the time to pretend you were never really here. Spıke Ѧ 14:51 29-Mar-13
Sorry Spike, but is there any way I may communicate with you privately? I have my reasons for making such a request.--Triflic Anhydride (talk) 15:06, March 29, 2013 (UTC)
I do love skullduggery and treachery! Could it be that you are not the real Triflic Anhydride? Spıke Ѧ 15:18 29-Mar-13
No, I am. Please, I have genuine reasons to request such actions. Actually, you're probably right (about the not vanishing part; I am the real Triflic Anhydride, for what it's worth). I still think my writing skills need work before returning to uncyc.--Triflic Anhydride (talk) 15:22, March 29, 2013 (UTC)
