Notes on the Project, part 79, chapter 3, paragraph 4

Well, it's been quite a long time since we began back in April. All those months and not a single edit conflict. Ha!
Sooo..Now what? We could undertake the DVD page project, which would be mighty even by our standards, or just leave them as is, at least for now. Whaddya think? --THE 23:07, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Ya know, after doing the last edit on the commentary, I realized that Sex Seafood is one of the most enjoyable parts about Un for me. We can work on it for hours, or leave it alone for months, and either way it comes out hilarious. I think we should keep going man; its the coolest long-term writing assignment I've ever worked on. :)
Assuming you're up for it, I'm thinkin' we'll just go about it the way we'd discussed in one of the previous 82 discussions on the subject:
  • Lets start creating related articles within our user spaces (your place or mine, baby, I'm good either way.. lol). I just don't want any of our friends in high places mistaking a page like "Sex Seafood: Previews" for vanity, cruft or otherwise; these next ones (like the previews page) will make little sense out of context, I suspect.
  • After they're finished, I was thinkin' that it would be a good idea to move them all to UnFilms:Sex Seafood. This will be the DVD Menu page, linking to each article which will be contained in it's namespace (ie. UnFilms:Sex Seafood/Commentary, UnFilms:Sex Seafood/Featurette, etc).
Besides those, I think now would be a good time to figure out exactly what content we want on this DVD besides the commentary and the documentary. Looking through our discussions, I found my original list of ideas:
  • The Film (script article)
  • The Commentary (next article) [aw.. now its all grow'd up! :)]
  • Making of Featurette (original article)
  • Behind the Scenes with the Smiths (a good way to describe the craziness of the project from an objective first-hand perspective)
  • Cast and Crew Bios (much potential)
  • Trailers (I have some ideas)
  • Press Release (linked to a possible UnNews article that could possibly get written in conjunction with the DVD's "release" (or, "completion")
  • Scene Selection (per a different discussion, possibly part 63)
...I think they're all still good ideas, and none of them really seem impossible...What do you think? Additions, subtractions? After that, pick one and we'll start phase 8 of this beast! :D --THINKER 23:35, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
PS - Zombiebaron has agreed to do some pictures. :) --THINKER 00:21, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Ah, excellent! Yes, I think it's definitely a good idea to make all future "sex seafood" article sin our namespace (s) until they're ready. And it's great that we've got someone to help us out with pics, and hopefully with formatting the DVD menu, which is beyond my rather primitive knowledge of wiki formatting. --THE 13:00, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Ahem /me prepares to shamelessly butt in where he isn't wanted. I can do the DVD Menu if you want me to. Just lemme know what is necessary and I'll try to see if it is within my scope.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 13:05, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Oh definitely you could help. Right now is a bit early since we haven't started in with any of these "special features" just yet, and we may change our minds about some of the menu items. The script of the sex seafood will probably end up as "UnFilms:Sex Seafood/feature film", the commentary would probably be "unfilms:Sex Seafood/commentary" and the article about the making of the movie would probably be "unfilms:Sex Seafood/making of". So the menu might have "SEX SEAFOOD:An Exploration in Flim by Unrelated Quotes Guy and Peter Bogdanovich" at the top, then [[UnFilms:Sex Seafood/Feature Film|Feature Film]], [[UnFilms:Sex Seafood/Commentary|Exclusive director's commentary]], and so on. It would also probably need an image, most likely the 'chop Zombiebaron could do. We'll keep you posted.

Thinker:I have made User:THE/SS, a list of all the DVD pages we plan to do, in the order they'll probably be on in the menu. That way, whenever one of us starts a new one, we can just add it to the list as a means of keeping ourselves organized. I plan to start the "deleted scenes" one today. You should probably start out the "Smiths" one and the "previews" one yourself once the time comes, since those are the ones I'm a little shaky on (as I think we talked about already somewhere in part 38, probably chapter 2) --THE 13:17, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
THE: Perfection, I think I might have a page or two more to add to the directory (that may or may not make the final cut, we'll see). But as is, the directory works perfectly fine; I'll check back later for progress on the delete scenes and to start the previews. I'm really glad you want to continue blowing this silliness out of proportion with me. ;)
Lj: Absolutely help! This very large, currently imageless undertaking definitely welcomes the additions. Just hold off on anything until ZB gets his initial stuff done for consistency. In fact, depending on the composite, perhaps ZB and you could share source photos for that same reason (if and where applicable). We'll keep you both updated as we progress, but in that same light, don't expect anything immediately immediately. Though the following pages shouldn't be nearly as time-consuming as the script and commentary page, we still kinda work at a leisurely pace, to keep ourselves sane (I mean, ya type like ahh, epic director Peter Bogdanovich.. sigh.. long enough.. oh, you're bound to start going sane. That is, insane. Same goes for the, erhmm.. quote fellow). :D --THINKER 14:57, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

I've added another deleted scene and have also started the Script I was babbling about on IRC yesterday. It's kind of shaky so far, not sure whether I'll go through with it or not. I'm tryin' to go for a kind of mix of Gorillas in the Mist and Grizzly Man. The "poacher" will probably be somebody with a lawnmower, or it could be people actually shooting blades of grass for their "coats". Feel free to add whatever you want to the script, and also to the deleted scenes page, which is linked to from here. I suppose I'll make "grass in the mist" a semi-national film, so I can whore it in the trailers section :-D --THE 13:43, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Heh, Semi-National Films produces only the highest quality nature documentaries.. So Gertrude, when did your son start getting interested in grass?, that made me laugh loudly (is the "grass" supposed to have a double meaning? If not, it probably should).
I looked over the deleted scenes, and I've got a couple of funny editions for that (good stuff so far). I'm gunna work on those while constructing the previews page. --THINKER 17:19, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Trailers has been created. Its just a skeleton right now, but I did put up one preview that I find pretty humorous. And I love the endorsements scene, btw. :) --THINKER 17:46, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
I'd narrate those. I'm pretty good at emulating a Don LaFontaine-esque voice. Say da word.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 18:03, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Possibly. It might lose some of the appeal if its just the narration without all the backing score and other trailory elements, but it might be an option depending on how you pull it off. You're capable in such things though, so if you think you can do up something cool with em, make it so (once the page is complete). :) --THINKER 18:08, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I possess Audacity and the pompous thought that I can use it well (audacity, if you will :D). I'll be glad to help, though God knows I may be driving before this thing is done.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 18:23, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Added another trailer, and I might possibly do the Grass in the Mist trailer today too, depending on how much I get done on the script. I hadn't thought of some double-meaning humor for "grass", but I'll definitely add some subtle double meanings in there now, because that's a good idea. I'm still gonna have it as a cross of sorts between "gorillas in the mist" and "grizzly man", with a gorillas in the mist-esque story line, and a grizzly man-esque style of storytelling (I'll probably even add a "creepy coroner guy" in there towards the end). Ljlego:Audio for the trailers is indeed an interesting idea, but I'm wondering how much of the trailer's meanings would be lost without the visuals we describe in italics. We'll see though. --THE 11:54, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, that is certainly true. Maybe we could do some rudimentary Flash if someone could pirate it? That would be awesome.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 17:10, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, Thinker, I finished My script, and will add a trailer for it as soon as I finish typing this message. Could you read the script and let me know what you think? Any suggestions for further improvement?
I've added a trailer for Boggy's "Prehistoric women" movie to the trailers page along with the "grass" trailer. I couldn't resist one more excuse to write some more Bogdanovichisms :-D. I'll add some more deleted scenes if I can think of any more, but the four that are already there are the ones I initially had in mind when I created the page. So, you can add yours whenever you're ready. BTW, what do you think of Lj's idea, about making Flash...uh...trailers? --THE 19:37, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Hah, that script is rather funny! You have a knack for being humorous very quickly dude; you should keep some of those articles you don't start all the time! I'd say add some pictures into it and put it up on Pee Review, I'll do one of my seemingly-patented in-depth analysis..es.
The deleted scenes is a page I've been clicking on, looking over quickly, then clicking out of without editing for some reason. I think once the trailers are complete I'll be more apt to going through those, and adding the one or two I have in my head.
As for the Flash, it all goes back to the same principle: the only thing I care about is quality representing the work. Like everyone's favorite Peter, I'd be very concerned with the representation of our writing in the visual medium. While in print one can create their own vision of the trailer, in animation, it becomes what you see. Now, there are Flash geniuses out there, and it would be awesome to have that kind of thing represented on Un. But if we're talking about pirating copies, it doesn't seem the case. Again, I only encourage assistance in this mammoth undertaking we're working towards, but because of its proportion, I just want it to be awesome when presented to the public. Make it as such, and so it shall be. :) --THINKER 01:14, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Thinkerer:I put the script in The piddler for analysisness. No worries about waiting to go through the "deleted scenes" page, hell, I've been saying for...like...two weeks now that I'm gonna work on the "global warming" article and I still haven't done anything to it, my mind just gets fuzzy every time I try and I end up reading old flamewars or eating instead. This is a slow-moving project, as it always has been, and we'll finish when we finish. Ljlego:I agree with the Thinker on the flash thing. If you can make it good enough that it does justice to the written trailers, then go right ahead, but it would be extremely difficult, there's so much stuff in there that would be easy to fuck up on. Trying to represent some of the fairly elaborate trailers, particularly the "Grass" one, and the planet cheese one once it's written, in visual format, and having it be good quality, would be a major undertaking. --THE 15:10, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Hey, Thinker...

Hi, Thinker. I'm stuck on this article; could you put some more in there? It's got potential, but I'm stuck at the very beginning. Here's the link: UnScripts:American Colonization: The Musical; thanks! The Humbled Master 13:16, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Hey THM. I looked over the article, and I'm not sure I completely understand what you're looking to accomplish with the piece. Are the listed countries supposed to be characters themselves? Because we've got people talking in there that are representative of nations, but it just doesn't correlate to the list of players. Beyond that, what kind of structure do you want to take with the material? For example, is it going to be a satire, sticking closer to the actual colonization, or is it going to be more a parody of colonization itself, with lots of countries mixing it up in a more silly manner?
Basically, I think I could probably do something funny with it, but since its not necessarily something I would write if left to my own devices, I can't really advance it without a bit more structure; what is there currently is too vague in direction. Work out some of these structural details and I'll add it to my Workinonit section. ;) --THINKER 15:07, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
All right, thanks for the advice! :) The Humbled Master 15:27, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I've added a bit more. Think you can work your magic? ;) The Humbled Master 16:31, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Uh, Thinker? Are you there? :S The Humbled Master 19:06, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Patience is a virtue, my friend. Waiting three hours for someone who lives outside of this place (as most of us do) is nothing.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 19:30, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Oh. Sorry, Ljlego. Didn't mean to be rude. :( The Humbled Master 20:21, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Okay, now I think I'm seeing what you're getting at a little more clearly (or at least I have an idea that works within this structure). I'll add it to my to do, get to work on it sometime soon. Do be patient with the edits though, I'm not like a 24/7 on call editor or something.. take a cue from Manforman (and from my buddy Lj there too) :) --THINKER 22:40, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

All right, I will! Thanks! ;) The Humbled Master 00:08, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
