Gulf War

Can you please explain the random warning you put up on the Gulf War article? Ldude893 03:18, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

I was clearing out the uncatecorized pages, This one came up, I tagged it as it deals with an historical topic in a very random and ineffective way - since it has met the light of day, it has since been put on VFD for that reason as well as a poor content the article is poorly put together. I suggest reading HTBFANJS to see where this has gone wrong
To sum up the Tag means the article failed to really meet a good standard - its here to highlight this and encourage improvemt. I am sorry, You could however create User:Ldude893/Gulf War - copy the content over and work on it till it gets to a better standard, from there you could get a pee review and should it be alright, it can be moved back to Gulf war. — Sir Sycamore (talk) 09:22, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Cornish article

The point of these additions is to look genuine but it is in fact made up such as saying 95% of people in cornwall speak it everyday. It says the language never died out etc. Please make addition to this revision if you like but please don't just revert. Many thanks--Lucy-Marie 13:47, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Right so there are actual rules to what constitutes uncyclopedic rubbish. That surly defies the point of it being uncyclopedic.--Lucy-Marie 14:57, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Credit Crunch

Dear Sycamore,

Why have you NRV'ed my Credit Crunch article?????

Cuntus Maximus

We do that so that semi complete articles don't end up lying around - It will be removed by an admin when it times out, should your article be at some stage of completion. The best way to start an article is to create User:Cuntus Maximus/Credit Crunch - when it's done you can have it Pee reviewed. When fully completed it can be moved over. no ICU or construction template needed in namespace and it keeps the site tidy:) — Sir Sycamore (talk) 15:52, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Hey, you tagged my article on Queensryche. It is my first try. I moved it to my user space. I would appreciate some commentary/feedback, as I can take that along in the improvement process. Alterationx10 14:47, 15 September 2008 (UTC

It's a very good first try, in my opinion. You did the right thing moving it over, as it means that yo can spend the time on it wthout it having any bother. I've adding links to stuff as well as a little bit of a tidy as well as adding categories etc. I've also added he wikipedia article so people can find out who they are - To my understanding they're called "Queensrÿche". The best place to go from here is adding a couple of images (you can get a specific one for the article at Uncyclopedia:Radical X corner) and just keeping up with it (it takes time get a really good article). You look to have edited on an external editor which give the ext a narrow look on the edit screen, I would change this. Otherwise its well on its way. When you move it over or prior to that you could submit it to Uncyclopedia:Pee Review - There you'll be able to get a bit more in depth feedback:) — Sir Sycamore (talk) 15:21, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

The best way to avoid bother is to finish the article more fully in your userspace, you can do this by creating User:Cuntro/Stephen Nolan - than you can move it back over (to Stephen Nolan) when complete:) — Sir Sycamore (talk) 15:21, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

I currently on a bit of a break - however I've had a look, I'm not quite sure what you mean; and external link is the Youtube one but otherwise the article is made up of internal links to other pages on this site (as far as I could see) - you should be able to edit this article with no problems. To clarify a link is = Tony Visconti an external link is = Tony Visconti - neither of these should affect editing, however we mostly encourage internal linking. I suggest contacting Mhaille for the next few days. Hi, another froggy here. ;) Concerning the improvement of articles about France, I think it's funnier when it's done by non-french people. There are often slight imprecisions and anachronisms, but it's not so important. About your rewriting for instance, Jean Claude Van Damme isn't french, he's belgian ; Molière wasn't specially known for his sexual exploits (?), it's perhaps better to change this by Guy de Maupassant or Gauguin or Baudelaire who all died from syphilis ; Montaigne wrote in the XVI century, I don't know if this anachronism is really interesting. Keep up the good work on your article, it's funny. You could maybe add something about the french Revolution, a true mess. And you forgot to speak about the berets... -- Zalibus 18:59, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll be going though the article based on this, thanks there:) — Sir Sycamore (talk) 19:05, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Zalibus is always very wise, even if he has a ridiculous name (sounds Roman or something weird like that to me). I had found some funny things but I'm afraid you won't find them funny at all. For example: if you ask a French about history, most of the time he will only remember one thing: the heroic victory at the battle of Marignan (1515, easy to remember), though almost nobody knows against whom... The quite funny thing is that it was against the now neutral and tiny Swiss. Would you laugh at it ? BTW, the unshaved girl is of course not French, we still burn our redheads at birth. Pattalong Nuculaire 07:52, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, its starting to look a lot better now, thanks:) — Sir Sycamore (talk) 14:07, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

All right, found out - it was the same person again, right, typing the same word for every blank? I'm tempted to write in the discussion page "this is a moron trap" but I think it's better if it works instead of pointing it out. I didn't intend it as such but it keeps one vandal busy for a time. Doesn't take long to revert. I can keep doing it, I'm in quite a lot. -- Style Oranssiviiva Guide 13:34, 27 September 2008 (UTC
I can revert a little quicker than some, if you want me to let your article be vandalised as it occurs, that can be done. — Sir Sycamore (talk) 13:37, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
It's OK both ways - if it's no trouble you can of course revert. If you start feeling it's an unnecessary pain I can do it myself whenever I come in. I struck my prev comments - I sort of like to keep the article as an actual trap - whoever that hapless person is, he has ideas: one of them.-- Style Oranssiviiva Guide 13:43, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Pee Review

Hey, thanks for the review. Let me say you've got me all wrong; I vandalized your userpage just because of this, not because I have anything against you. I think you're an okay guy, a very fine American, personal hygiene problems aside. I complained when you and TKF were all like "I'm against this and I'm too cool to explain why" because I think it's kind of a WP:DICK thing to do, voicing objection yet keeping your reasons secret. But that's just me.

I'm a little bit mystified as to why most of your comments were about style rather than content. The formatting looks okay on my screen resolution (except for the last image--I should fix that), and it seems like your comments on my prose were more matters of preference than things that are strictly wrong. Colons can be used to separate independent clauses when the first clauses contains essential information for the second it says so the Internet so you know it's true, and if you honestly think there was any ED speak in my article, please blow it away with a shotgun, because I'm not aware of any. But thanks for your other comments. I'll go over then and see what I can do. --Pleb SYNDROME CUN medicate (butt poop!!!!) 17:03, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Cool, I tend not to go in depth on VFH; I hope my pee gives some indication of my vote - I think there are issuies with the prose, the formatting as well as content - my pees are "rough cut" but theres some good tips in there. I wish you the best with the article:) — Sir Sycamore (talk) 20:01, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

This is just yet another "case" with NB, and an ongoing one for several months now. I have gone though this with him many times, (as you know) along with RAHB, MrN9000 and yourself. I’m fairly doubtful that he will become a productive user; he has consistently done bad stuff around here. I don’t like seeing good articles become full of crap (I do aim to try and improve the place and help good users). The best thing I can advise is a little reading; Help:HowTo, Beginner's Guide, HTBFANJS. The article is not all that bad, however it does seem a little random on the content front. Should it be huffed it can be moved into your userspace so it can be worked on and then moved into the mainspace (where it is now). You could do this now: simply copy the lot (except the tag) onto User:Lady H/Heathus - then you'll be able to work on at your own pace. I've had a look and tidied it up a little - As with all good writng it is re-written - just keep going with it. Could you calm down for a second?

Adding categories to the Marty page the way you are adding categories to the Marty page screws up the formatting. If you really really insist on those being there, I'll add them properly some time when 1) I am not coughing up blood and 2) it isn't 5:20 am and I've been awake all day. --monika 09:20, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Glad we reached this understanding :) ::coughs up blood::. Oh sorry about that. Let me clean that up. Don't worry, the doctor says it isn't TB. On a related note, you mentioned the formatting is screwed up on the Marty page. Could you please tell me where, and if it's not a bother, provide screenshots? I've tried to get it to look consistent across browsers, operating systems, and resolutions, but I'm always finding new things wrong with it. (And IE hates me.) --monika 09:24, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Theres a gap about half way down, created by the images - there is also the listy look on the "Girls" bit:) — Sir Sycamore (talk) 09:33, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Ah. I was expecting something like "The categories are messed up" or "the box at the top has overlapping text". I can't seem to reproduce the gap - which picture pair is it between? Ah, I see, IE is clearing the images... hmm. I'll have to figure out why so I can fix it. As for the list, it's supposed to be representative of vandalism and the kinds of articles that get reverted and locked, so there's not much I can do there without negating the premise. --monika 09:41, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Is that looking better? --monika 09:55, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, looks pretty good now:) — Sir Sycamore (talk) 10:02, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Oh, good. That was much easier to fix than that annoying "categories that should be hidden are visible in ie" thing that's been bothering me since I wrote this thing 10 months ago. --monika 10:06, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
It's a difficult thing with the categories, people seem failry mixed about using them, as theres quite few pages that don't really fit in; it does help to have have categories though as it keeps things running smoother - hence you'll see me about adding them a lot:) — Sir Sycamore (talk) 10:09, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
With the Marty article, the different versions of the fake article belong in different categories, but I wanted to make sure that only the primary page actually ended up in the categories, including the categories that that fake version of the article didn't belong in. So there's some juggling with a fake category bar covering up the real category bar. But it doesn't work in ie. --monika 15:22, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Could you calm down for a second? part II

As of a few minutes ago, there is a magical new magic thingie to take care of the categories on the Marty page. And while I'm still coughing up blood, I'm also high on Cēpacol so I don't care so much. Now, in order to add the subpage category to all the subpages, I'd have to manually set a whole lot of styles of things (which isn't a problem) and convince some admin to edit the javascript file for the entire site to accommodate each sub-page, which seems to me like a waste of an annoying of an admin. How important to you would you say this issue is? --monika 02:55, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Not very - if it can be done easlay it should, or if it's hassle and bother, its not a vital thing:) — Sir Sycamore (talk) 07:46, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Okay! Don't bother I will. --monika 16:18, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

You and ICU

Hey dude. I just went through new pages for the first time in a while. And there's alot of shit on there. It seemed as though you taged a majority of it with ICU. While normally seing ICU on almost every artice on new pages wouldn't be that bad, it seems like you're overdoing it. As in some articles are taged ICU when they should be QVFD for Vanity or because nobody in their right mind would ever care about the subject. I'm not trying to be mean or anything with this, all I'm saying is just tone back the ICU and maybe give it a good checking over to see and determine if it can ever make it as an article on uncyc. Peace. Lieutenant THEDUDEMAN Dude ... Totally UOTM KUN GotA F@H 04:17, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

I went through my rational here - I don't see the harm in giving new articles seven days, even if they are a little dodgy - being over keen on QVFD will scare people off - There were quite number of such articles on uncategorized - which are now in the light of day. It seems more likley that the system is more efficiant to detect new articles at the momemnt. — Sir Sycamore (talk) 07:53, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Just saw that you don't seem to agree with the inclusion of the mention of civil servants. I thought that would be humorous, because one scarcely deniable fact in contemporary France is that the civil servants are virtually the only ones who can safely go on strike. Which they do, a lot. They generally piss almost everyone else in the country, especially when public transportations go on strike, so they are often regarded -deservedly, IMHO- as a bunch of lazy bastards who ruin others' lives. Few private-sector workers are actually unionized, but the civil servants definitely are. If you think that reference is too obscure, I won't start a fight over it, but I thought that would be humorous. Cheers, Pucktard 07:10, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, It was one edit that I didn't feel worked, it seemed too factual and too social commentary if you know what I mean - thank you for the proof read and other stuff, its looking a lot better:) — Sir Sycamore (talk) 07:12, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
I think there should be a funny way of inserting the fact that those who go on strike - and do so very often - are the ones who can safely do so (i.e. : will never be unemployed) and henceforth don't care about pissing others, but my written english may be too limited for that. If you can think of a way of doing that, it would be nice. IMHO, it's an aspect of contemporary France which arguably deserves to be satirized. Anyway, I'll let you go on with the article. Re: the Ninja/Pirate article that clearly needs other types of work as well, can you be more specific regarding your formatting concerns? Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 07:26, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Seemed a bit of list... Remove it if its yours:) — Sir Sycamore (talk) 07:28, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

'Lo Sycamore

Good to see you're vigilant.'re aware about the rule concerning ICUing articles edited within the previous hour, I assume? Incidentally, that Hi-ace article is indeed rubbish, though. Cheers, matey. :-) RabbiTechno 10:59, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

I guess he's not. Neither am I. Nor are a whole bunch of other regular users, judging by what I see on RC on a regular basis. In fact, I'd say that page is so much an ignorable policy, no-one's even noticed it for a while now... --UU - natter UU Manhole 11:03, Oct 7
Oh well. Maybe I shouldn't be so 'by-the-book.' Never seen anyone get told off for flouting the rule anyway...Maybe I'll just go and ICU a couple of things on my watchlist that I've been patiently allowing to improve. 11:09, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Maybe I'll log in first, however. D'oh. RabbiTechno 11:10, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Nice to see you about again RT. Oh, and Hi Syc, seeing as I'm here. --UU - natter UU Manhole 11:11, Oct 7
Hi Rabbi/UU - I've been using ICUs a lot, I will go back to the written rules on them if thats the view on that. The reason I've been useing them a lot, is that theres a massive influx of QVFD users/RC watchers - I'm very keen to give new users a chance with their articles, even if they will eventually face deletion:) — Sir Sycamore (talk) 11:28, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Consensus appears to be, ignore that rule. So ICU as you see fit (apart from the other, erm, unignorable rules, anyway). RabbiTechno 13:42, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
