Correct script format
Hi Socky, you sweet angel. I like that article. But it's not script formatted. I left them THIS for future reference. I'm in the business, so I know. The link is a priceless guide for UnScripts (or any one who ever wants to write a script). You're blessed! Cheers!--Funnybony 08:59, Dec 2
I see what you mean, but forcing people to use that style may be a little bit too restrictive. I mean, if people prefer another font face or prefer to use different brackets, I don't really think there's something wrong with that. Of course, if an article is parodying a Hollywood movie, it's probably more appropriate to format it the way it would be formatted if it were an actual Hollywood script. I'm not sure how images would be incorporated if we'd copy the industry standard, though. To be honest, I think if we'd format scripts exactly like that, I think it'd appear a bit dull to someone not familiar with the movie business. To each his own, I guess. —SirSocky(talk)(stalk)GUNSotMUotMPMotMUotYPotMWotM13:16, 2 December 2010
Hi Socky, I know your point. But in the real world a script format like the article, which is as a little kid would imagine it to be, could not even get you into the parking lot in Hollywood. Pros always do it right, even if they are so famous they CAN do it wrong, still, they do it right. I did it right HERE on Uncyclopedia. Real script writers laugh at the amateur ways dreamed up by those who have yet to learn, because even the best screenplay writers had to start off wrong and get kicked in the balls first. The format of most UnScripts is, simply stated, wrong, and accordingly most look childish to anyone who knows. There is nothing wrong with doing things right. Cheers!--Funnybony 16:07, Dec 2
Someone nominated the new untune for VFH. But my dissertation is due TODAY! So I'm working like a monkey on crack. But the audio is halfway done. So as soon as I finish I'll record the vocals. Hopefully tonight. --Dame 13:26, December 2, 2010 (UTC)
Justin Bieber sounds more like a girl than I do. In other news, the untune seems to be doing well. Furthermore, your talkpage made my blackberry explode so I refuse to talk to you again untill you get raped. --Dame 11:32, December 3, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for voting for me for Useless Gobshite last month. Or was that the month before? I can't remember. Either way, though, it really means a lot, so again. Thank you. Have a line of madness, specially chosen for you, as a little keepsake:
I think bad things have happened. I feel them in my socks.
I have come to demonstrate what a terrible mistake you made voting for me for UotM last month. Really, I do not understand what you possibly could have been thinking, but what is done is done, and now I suppose I should be gracious and attempt to thank you, or something. As I do not know how to be gracious, however, I will instead give you a carefully chosen line of Madness, for you to keep as your very own:
If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.

That's a scary button. Point it at someone and you can get their wallet and everything. Yo, Socky, you are a God walking among men. Not only did you vote for Never on Sunday, propping it onto the front page where it sits right now, but you've been adding to Elfin Lied, a page which is a giant that lurks just out of reach of the users who haven't seen it. That is all. Aleister 1:25 10 12

I cannot vandalise your userpage. At least, not in any way that would satisfy my perfectionism, until I get back on a linux machine; windows simply does not have the capacity nor the tools I require, not for something so specific as you wanted. I'm bored, I haven't slept enough, my back hurts, and my computer is slow. And I'm waiting for things to finish. So now I'm leaving a completely pointless message on your talkpage.
Mluffins! Buys ya mluffins here! Thanks for your contribution! you are the 14th unique contributor of the month. (All right, some aren't really unique.) You could make this superficially resemble news better by heeding the UnNews:Style: first two paragraphs of Section 3 (keep "our reporter" out of the story) and last bullet of 3.2 (don't end with a moral-of-the-story). I understand that these are all coded references to Justin Bieber, but suspending disbelief and accepting the reporter's demented viewpoint, the article still doesn't explain its own relevance to the reader. Spıke¬ 00:15 16-Dec-10
It is what it is now. But there is plenty of time to make it better, too. Spıke¬ 00:44 16-Dec-10
If I could come up with something else that sounds more newsy and is better than what was there before, I'd replace it, but I haven't come up with anything yet and I'm probably not going to either, to be honest. Then again, I think "our reporter" sounds a lot more newsy than "me" or "I". The relevance to the reader is implied in the "the world" part of the title. Well, the only people this wouldn't be relevant to are the ones that have never heard of Bieber. What I'm trying to achieve with this UnNews is for the fans to go "Hey, that girl looks just like Justin Bieber... OMG, this is about Justin Bieber" and the haters to do the same thing, except they'll burst out laughing once they realize it and maybe they'll say "Holy shit" instead of "OMG". And the ones that don't get it, well, I hope they put a comment on the talkpage so I can point out the obvious to them. :) —SirSocky(talk)(stalk)GUNSotMUotMPMotMUotYPotMWotM17:14, 16 December 2010
Yes, "our reporter" (or "this reporter") is better than using the first person. Spıke¬ 18:06 16-Dec-10
PS--So this is not an UnNews but a riddle?! Am editing the story (1) to turn around the lead sentence to look like a news story, and (2) to eliminate "this reporter" wherever I can do so gently. Revert in whole or part if you think it breaks the concept. I dislike the last paragraph but cannot change it gently and still don't know enough either about Justin Bieber or the effect you are looking for. Spıke¬ 18:35 16-Dec-10

I'm really not supposed to be doing this, but there were these awards lying around, and this one is yours!
I feel so dirty. And it's starting to smell. Maybe I should launder my clothes, and/or take a shower, but the pee has kind of already set into the pores and orifices, so what's the use. Oh, thanks for the review! I was surprised it was nommed, and was awaiting your pee, and it will help. I'll work on it right now. Your explanation of the table, feature. Thanks for all the 8's and higher numbers like that. Aleister 13:03 2 1 '11
p.s. Put in some of your suggestions, a big help and thanks for catching some obvious mistakes, both mentioned in the review and in copyediting. Oh, the lightburst pic was yours, I found it on another page and didn't recall it from your bible article. Thanks for creating it and lending it around (rent check slipped under the door). More to go on the page but time to sign-off now, thanks again. 13:41 2 1 '11

Hello. Was that a joke vote on UotY? As the holder of the crown your vote is precious, like gold soaked in more gold and then coated with really good chocolate, so just wondering. And if so, tellme tellme, what is the secret. Is Lyrihtya a demon or something worse? Popcorn at the ready. (I was going to email this to you but you have no email) Aleister 1:11 4 1 '11
Ah, I was just kidding around. I'll probably change my vote to a slightly more sensible one when I figure out who to vote for. —SirSocky(talk)(stalk)GUNSotMUotMPMotMUotYPotMWotM07:03, 4 January 2011
Or for Lyrithya for real (most deserving, and badly manhandled on the page, heh heh) Or for yourself! If we kick in gear we can get 30 IP's to vote to give you a repeat! If this was major league ball you'd be up for it again. Thanks for the vote for me and 90s Kid21's page, it'd be nice to give him a feature. And did you know this is Uncy's 6th Birthday! Aleister 22:32 Uncy's 6th Anniversary

You're a funny guy; think you'll be able to add a few? Lyrithya's going to make it look like an actual newspaper and everything. --BlackFlamingo 14:16, January 9, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the vote and for the tweaks to the illustrations. The purpose of the second Infobox is to feed the joke, "Oh, you mean the city? [Let's start over.]" The only way to avoid the white space is either to make the first Infobox less complete or to make the initial geology digression longer. And the city seal is mentioned in the text of the intro. Spıke¬ 17:38 10-Jan-11
Oh, I see. Well, my main issue is the way the first infobox is too much about the city already, and doesn't differ enough from the second infobox. I don't have a problem with listing "Michigan" as a state of matter, but "country" and "population" have little to do with sedimentary quartz. Maybe instead you could use "density" and to the right fill in the alleged population density, for example. —SirSocky(talk)(stalk)GUNSotMUotMPMotMUotYPotMWotM09:14, 11 January 2011
Appreciate the help. Trying to adjust to support IPhone as well, and stumbling a little. Also realised that the latest banner ads do something in regards to z-index which means that part of the text from the ad appears on the page, which is annoying. I'm assuming the hide ad is simply a HTML DOM command to change the display of the ad (hopefully by getElementByID) to hidden, which means I should hopefully be able to leave the ad displaying if someone has left the display on, but I'm unsure how that'll work on lite version. I'm thinking this has gotten enough positive feedback that I can put it up for VFH, but I want to iron out these last few issues first. (Iphone and wikimedia lite really do not work well together. Really need a better solution to a few of these tweaks.) SirCPTDrPuppyOnTheRadioGUNUmPWotMNotMFPVFPVFHCMPOTMUGM00:40, June 5, 2009Tuesday, 08:56, Jan 11 2011 UTC
Well, I don't have an iPhone, so I can't really help you there. I have noticed in the past that a couple people are unable to see the stuff inside the div when using the position parameter. Though actually, I don't think you need to use position:relative in this page. Playing with the margins will probably get you the same effect. —SirSocky(talk)(stalk)GUNSotMUotMPMotMUotYPotMWotM09:14, 11 January 2011
Hey. Do you know of any way to successfully reduce line-height to 100% other than pre, tt or adding spaces at the start of a line? SirCPTDrPuppyOnTheRadioGUNUmPWotMNotMFPVFPVFHCMPOTMUGM00:40, June 5, 2009Thursday, 21:11, Jan 13 2011 UTC
Well, I'm aware of a line-height parameter in spans and divs, but the way you're making it sound, it's more like you want to move text to the right. In which case the margin-left parameter should suit your needs. —SirSocky(talk)(stalk)GUNSotMUotMPMotMUotYPotMWotM21:37, 13 January 2011
Not quite. I'm actually playing with ASCII art but wanting to have it white on black. If I simply add space to the start I get this:
│ │
├──┤ ┐
│ │ │
If I use pre I can get exactly the right schema, and can tidy up a bit of the ugly formatting, like this:
Which, despite being ugly coding with lots of nbsps, has that gap between lines.
So far the tt with the spacing before the lines is the closest I have come to what I'm after, but it's still unattractive. Any ideas? SirCPTDrPuppyOnTheRadioGUNUmPWotMNotMFPVFPVFHCMPOTMUGM00:40, June 5, 2009Thursday, 23:56, Jan 13 2011 UTC
It turns out it were just the carriage returns that were mocking it up. Putting carriage returns in between tags can do that sometimes. —SirSocky(talk)(stalk)GUNSotMUotMPMotMUotYPotMWotM00:21, 14 January 2011
Brilliant! Harder to create the art that way but easy enough to remove the varraige returns once you've made it. And I can use nbsp to indent whatever I need to and monospace will keep it all nicely lined up. Thanks again. And why is Jane Fonda's old mug shot there? Unjumble my mind, thank you. Aleister 1:34 29-1-'11
My God in heaven. The page is about that little snivering kid Justin Beiber? And that he looks like Jane Fonda? Without saying his name? I will read it again, but believe at this moment that you are crazy as a loon, and I like it. Aleister 1:57 29-1-'11

Wow! Socky! Awesome! Perfecto! I normally use FinalDraftPro, and didn't know how to indent the code as code. That is the way scripts are written. Thanks for the UnNews! You are in the 3-Spot on today's Front Page. But it took me a while to figure out why this wasn't an anti-Obama rant or an article about memes of Afro-American politics. I would need a little more relation to reality to ease me into the outrageous dialogue, perhaps a sentence or less explaining the real-world confusion between the two guys. Then again, I have no sense of humor.
Separately, just yesterday I read someone say that he is "sometimes derisively referred to as 'Malcolm the Tenth.'" That's a cute line that you might work into it. Cheers! Spıke¬ 11:34 3-Feb-11

"I don't want to go there"
I don't get what you mean. I think the Blahs need to go on a little longer because otherwise the joke of Pokemon and YuGiOh being Blah'd out (because they're the only ones most people might read) isn't as clear. Plus the Anime/Manga sections can be long and annoying to scroll over, so it seems like the parody should be too. Won't fight you on it, though. :P --193.1.104.2 19:17, February 3, 2011 (UTC)

Hello, I was curious how to remove an image (I'm familiar with wiki-related software, but I've never have had to delete an image, and thus it is an alien process for me), and I would like to note I re-cropped the header image to conform to the page in the latest edit, but to be fair, not with all of the changes you outlined, so I will fix up the image and represent it, but as for now I respect your decision to revert the article. Thanks! Yahoobox 03:07, February 5, 2011 (UTC)
New Header For Thou
Here is a new TV Tropes Header, and it is as close as I could make it without changing the style too much, and without axing the ad. It is only slightly different in size (-46 x +61 px.) and it shouldn't break the layout too badly. Yahoobox 03:24, February 5, 2011 (UTC)
Yay~ Thank you! ^.^ However, I'm not overly happy about the alignment of the faux-article title and the layout, so I'm revising that, and will be directly editing that, and I hope that is okay. Yahoobox 03:29, February 5, 2011 (UTC)
So...
I saw you didn't like my my book. I would love to make you change your mind. Of course, you will need some help. Psst. How much? ~ 17:35, February 6, 2011 (UTC)
If you change your mind, I will always have some help --~ 17:47, February 6, 2011 (UTC)
PLS Scores - would you consider re-doing yours?
While there have been a lot of entries (and very strong in your category), I think it would be better to try and pic some outright winners (I'd rather not have the tie-breaker judges brought in). Just go with the entries you think are the strongest, nobody expects you to be perfect or to please everybody:)--Sycamore(Talk) 19:21, February 6, 2011 (UTC)
And think about my help. --~ 19:56, February 6, 2011 (UTC)
But... I really can't decide. If I liked the articles equally well, how am I supposed to choose between them? I'm sorry Sycamore, but if I had to break the ties, my choice would be arbitrarily random, and I don't think that's honest towards the entrants either. The other two judges in the category will probably break the ties anyway, I think. —SirSocky(talk)(stalk)GUNSotMUotMPMotMUotYPotMWotM21:20, 6 February 2011
Congratulations!
SURPRISE!!
This user has given you surprise buttsecks. Enjoy.
Hello. Now that all the judges in your poo lit category have voted would you, kindest of sirs, take a moment when you have the time to point out the biggest fault(s) in my entry, which received nary a whisper amongst the three tribunes. I am actully quite interested, as I wish to do with it as I've done with "Warm piss water", and continue to shape it towards illusive perfection. Thanks. And I do like how you tied your scores, a nice way to do things in life. And your new forum is quite interesting, and will provide a good reference for finding some interesting pages. Aleister 12:56 7-2-'11
Well, to be honest, I think your UnBook is great, but some of the other entries just appealed to me more. One of the reasons I didn't write short Pee-Review-y thingies for the entries is because most of them were excellent. All I'd have to say would be short comments like "This is great!", "Marvelous!" and "If this had been a food article, I would've gladly consumed it." I found it extremely hard to choose one over the other, as all the ties will indicate, I think. If there is one thing I might note about your entry, it's that the variety of image sizes and where you put them sometimes makes the article seem less pretty, in my nutty honest opinion. Besides that, it's a really nice UnBook, so you shouldn't feel bad about not winning best alt. namespace. ;) —SirSocky(talk)(stalk)GUNSotMUotMPMotMUotYPotMWotM02:32, 8 February 2011
Thanks! Good advice. And hey Jae (Socky's real name is Jason N. Daargonauts), I wasn't yelping about the judging at all - Judges is Judges - just wanted some good feedback on the article, which you provided. I'll work on the pics and the entire page once it's unlocked. This was a great category, and I don't envy your job of having to read, let alone judge, all the entrants. Thanks again. Aleister 13:05 8-2-'11
p.s. Did you hear the one about the three wise men who go into a bar, order muir, frankensense, and gold, and the bartender asks "Do you want straw with those, boys?"
I don't know. They get some straw, I suppose. And the other stuff they ordered. If it's a well-stocked bar. Or the next line could be "Coming right up!" which would allude to the Christian meme of Jesus rising into the sky by evaporation after hanging out with his buds. Or even "No thanks, we've already got some" which would imply that the wise men brought extra straw to replace the straw in Jesus' manger that the animals ate. Or "No, but make mine a double" which could mean that the guy bringing the gold would like some to keep for himself. That's why they call him a wise man. I just whistled backwards. Aleister 13:45 8-2
Because we have a particular level of quality control that your edits didn't quite reach. Have a read of HTBFANJS and BGBU and see if that helps. Pup 06:13 09 Feb '11
You know...
You're rather wonderful at times. *shifty eyes* 1234~19:03, 9 February 2011
I decided to take on an UnNews on spring training since it starts next week. I wrote two versions (one and two) and, since I've been away so long and am still getting my bearings, I was wondering if you could offer an opinion on which one I should work on or if I should come up with a new idea all together. Much thanks in advance. -- (talk) 23:32, February 9, 2011 (UTC)
Number One would already be a credible addition to UnNews (just slap {{Original}} onto it and perhaps write a new initial sentence that summarizes what just happened that's newsy). Number Two I don't like; it is not UnNews at all but personal opinion. We handle this as an Editorial or Column, but especially for a Column, you have to decide who is doing the talking (and preferably use the occasion to lampoon that person as well). Don't take this the wrong way, but nobody cares what the opinion of "JackOfSpades" is. So if cast as an Editorial, you would need to lay some groundwork to convince the reader who the speaker is and why his opinions matter. Spıke¬ 23:58 9-Feb-11
I mostly agree with Spike on this. The first one is a typical UnNews and is pretty much ready for mainspace. The second one is in first person, which makes it appear less journalistic etc. Actually, the concept of the second one might be suitable for a regular article about baseball, though it'd obviously need to be expanded heavily for that to work. —SirSocky(talk)(stalk)GUNSotMUotMPMotMUotYPotMWotM03:41, 10 February 2011
Thanks guys I'll keep all that in mind in the future. Now just to finish up that first one before spring training actually starts.-- (talk) 03:50, February 10, 2011 (UTC)
How dare you!
I have read your article on my beloved Great Britain, and I must take umbrage! How dare you suggest that our tea tax is Socialist! We have absolutely nothing to do with that bugger Marx or any of his loopy, Russian ideas. The tea tax is entirely voluntary, and failure to pay is treated as nothing more than a teensy snafu, which is punishable by a mere eighteen years in the snake pit. Why does the world not understand this? --Holy shit it's Neopowell 00:59, February 11, 2011 (UTC)
*pokes head out from under rock* Uh Marx was German...Going back to my hiding spot now...-- (talk) 01:09, February 11, 2011 (UTC)
Englishmen never say the word Ger...the name of our enemy in public, wot wot. --Holy shit it's Neopowell 08:13, February 11, 2011 (UTC)
This is all a conspiracy to make me feel foolish isn't it? Well, you have succeeded, sirs/madams (delete as appropriate), but at what cost? At what cost? --Holy shit it's Neopowell 09:50, February 11, 2011 (UTC)
Huh?
So what was this image you wanted? I forgot. 1234~01:11, 11 February 2011
Ah, hells, I'm too tired. Can't even figure what I'm saying. Remind me later, will you? I've words. Or ideas. Notions, perhaps? Um. 1234~10:49, 14 February 2011
Thanks once again
I went over Pearl necklace to find misspellings or mistakes, and thought it was clean to go. Then you come along and find like what, 40 errors? Thanks again for backing me up on my lifelong path of moronosity. Aleister 2:29 15-2-'11
And you voted for! You are like a God who has transversed to earth, only to be caught in this mortal coil and doing only good while you await the other Gods to come back and pick you up, like E.T. only Godlier. Aleister 2:55 15-2-'11
The real purpose of welcoming is to present the morons with a massive amount of information at once, thus chasing them away and saving uncy countless man hours of handling their stupidness (some, sigh, slip through). Socky deserves great credit for this thankless work. Aleister 15:02 16-2-'11
