Welcome!

Penisdoctor

Don't mind me. I'm just here for the enem- I MEAN WELCOME! WELCOME!

Hello, Sockpuppet of an unregistered user/Archive1, and welcome to Uncyclopedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If not, the door's right over there... no, a little more to your left... yeah. Anyway, my name is RAHB, and I'll be your guide through the mystical land of Uncyclopedia. We'll begin the tour with a few helpful links for noobies:

  • Beginner's Guide - A massive guide about how to be the best you can be at Uncyclopedia. I've honestly never read the whole thing in one sitting myself, but it is very useful if you're looking for help on a specific issue.
  • Our Vanity Policies - This page details why we don't care about your friends, your school, your gay fourth period math teacher, or the homework he has you do, and in-jokes. DO NOT violate this policy.
  • How to be funny and not just stupid - Our flagship link. This will tell you how to not get booed off the metaphorical stage that is Uncyclopedia. I STRONGLY suggest reading the entire thing through, perhaps more than once.
  • Uncyclopedia:Best of - For a bit of inspiration. These are our featured articles. This is the kind of stuff we like to read around here.

Now that that's out of the way, take a look to your right, and you'll notice some more links, these ones are about help in general:

At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but I do recommend it, it can be quite enjoyable, and it's a good chance to let others take notice of your writing. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Sockpuppet of an unregistered user/Archive1/Article about stuff) so you can edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done put the "Work-In-Progress" template - {{construction}} - onto it as well.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page, and also check out the link I mentioned earlier. Additionally, the Uncyclopedian Adopt-a-Noob program is there to bring experienced editors straight to you. Simply put {{adoptme}} on your Userpage to join. I hope you enjoy editing here and being an Uncyclopedian, and remember: Have fun with it. We are a humor wiki, so don't worry about taking things too seriously. We're here to have a good time and to have a good laugh. Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or use the "sign" button (Button sig) above the edit box. This will automatically produce your name and the date. Once more, thank you for your contributions and welcome! I'll be seeing you around. -RAHB 22:56, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Puppet

Alright, now that we've all had our fun on that VFH Nom, I'm going to be asking for a checkuser. It's pretty glaringly obvious that the IP involved was you, but I'm going to make sure. Now, I could go through with all the official biz, and then give you a ban. Or, you can come clean now, and promise never to do it again. Your move, Peterbilt. -RAHB 03:26, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Hey I didn't mean any harm, I just found that rule for self-nomination somewhat lame, and why do you think I'm called "Sockpuppet of an unregistered user". But OK, I won't do it again, though I honestly don't think you should ban someone for doing something as innocent as this. As a last note, if it gets renominated, I won't involve any of my alternative identities (IPs, other sockpuppets).
Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 08:10, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
I'll take that as a promise to never do it again. I'm shortening Tom Mayfair's ban, however, not getting rid of it, to get the point across. While you may think the self-nomination rule is "lame," it is a rule. And it's not like you couldn't have posted it up for review and waited for a review or for a week. It's very simple. Anyways, next offense is a permanent ban. But for now, you get a week. -RAHB 00:46, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Actually my sockpuppet nominated the article, while unaware of any self-nomination rule. When he was notified of his mistake, he was all like "Oh no! Now I'll have to close this nomination, get it in Pee Review, probably wait a whole week, and then renominate it! And all of that just because of this rule." (intensionally exaggerated) Ofcourse he considered the rule somewhat "lame" at the time, seeing how it was interfering with his plans, using the IP seemed like an "easy solution". Though it is very clear now that he highly underestimated the number of people who would "jokingly" pretend to be dicks, because of their familiarity and attachment to such rules, and who would thus completely ignore how my sockpuppet felt about it. Now it's all over, I'm sure my sockpuppet will more accurately take the rules into account in the future. An IP representing its sockpuppet 11:42, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Your username has the word "Sockpuppet" in it. Are you seriously trying to tell us that you did not know that what you did was not allowed and would provoke this response? You also said that you were aware of the rule about self nominations, yet you did both things. Why? To me, it looks like you are deliberately trying to push the boundaries of what's allowed on Uncyc for your own amusement. If you want to challenge authority, why not go do it in the real world, rather than on joke website which is run by volunteers who are only here to have fun. Dude, this is NOT cool. MrN Icons-flag-gb HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png Fork you! 12:00, Aug 26
I'm saying that when he first nominated the article, he wasn't aware of such a rule. Mr. Monkey notified him that there was in fact such a rule. Panicking and being all freaked out, he made a mistake, and let the IP "renominate" the article, while it would have probably been better to just close the nomination. The rule I'm talking about is the Pee Review self-nomination rule, not a "no sockpuppeting" rule. An IP representing its sockpuppet 14:09, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

VFH Nomination Neglect

I noticed that almost no one even talked on your VFH nomination you made a few days ago. I brought this up on the chat channel, and the general consensus is that when you nominate something from an IP (or even just your username, Sockpuppet) it's suspicious. People don't want to vote for a suspicious nomination and then it's going to fall off due to low health.

You can clearly write and such, and I think that if you wanted to be taken more seriously, you should register an account that doesn't have the word Sockpuppet in it. So, yeah. That's it. --Mr. Monkey Sockmonkey Pant-hoot here. 00:53, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

{{Adoptme}}

There was good reason that was deleted. I have placed it on QVFD. It does not work. N00bs should contact someone from the list of available adopters. Trusting that this template will get them adopted is just not a good idea. If they want to be adopted, they should ask... Also, it's not linked from any "active" welcome messages. Not to my knowledge anyway... Thanks for trying to be helpful though, but you might try to find out why something as important as this was actually deleted next time. Have fun. :-) MrN Icons-flag-gb HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png Fork you! 22:29, Oct 15

I actually figured that out already, but since it's used in so many pages (it's presently the "most wanted page" by far) and is used in a welcome message as recent as mine (OK, it's not really that recent, but still). Wouldn't it be a good idea to let it say something like
"This n00b thinks experienced editors will waste their time searching for potential adoptees amongst users using this template..." -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 19:02, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Censorship

Please do not censor images to your liking. Of course these images are crude and offensive, but many will find them humorous and/or useful in articles. You are not an admin, so please stop trying to be one. The real admins have no problem with these images used in context.--Uncreative Username 02:48, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm not trying to be an admin, I'm just applying Uncyclopedian policy: shock images are forbidden, a bouquet of penises is obviously a shock image, the same with an ED admin raping someone. Actually you should be thanking me, since I didn't revert all your edits, only the ones I really found exaggerated. If not for me your image wouldn't even be in the article. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 07:44, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
That thing you did: don't. Both of you. If you become embroiled in a revert war, take it to an admin. We're all mature 'n' shit. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 11:45, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

All the things you wouldn't mind doing to get some amusement. Okay, I'll try to be more careful when handling such issues next time. I suppose its that whole unwashed netted vest look that you go for. That and your raging alchoholism--Sycamore (Talk) 16:32, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, in reality, the meaning of words does not in so much depend on its supposed literal meaning, but rather on what it is commonly understood to mean by the group you're considered part of. So if something is described as offensive, that will in most cases signify that it is considered that way by the general consensus, and whether a minority of separate individuals find it offensive or not would be mostly irrelevant. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 16:45, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the nom

Dropping Gay Jesus it was probably the best thing to do as numerous people who do like it will abstain their vote. The non-wikipedia format will tank anything, no matter how clever, in VFH. There would have been a long list of pooh pooh votes and nasty comments.

After I did my research it became clear that while "Gay Jesus" had not been done, any Jesus humor would invoke the "not another Jesus article" mentality. The numerous incarnations of Jesus commenting in the article was a joke about that very saturation and the numerous silly Jesus' already in existence. I didn't plan on that going over anyone's head but apparently it did. Thank you for appreciating the humor.--DRStrangesig5 Sherman Fingertalk  14:13, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Hola

In explanation. I've seen you around the site for a while now. Your edit on my article tonight reminded me just how much I remembered your awesomeness. This award is for the fact that in the majority of your run here at Uncyc, as Modus has said above, you have made an honest and genuine effort to make the site a better place. I've even disagreed with you on occasion, but I've always noticed that your loyalties are with the betterment of Uncyclopedia, and for that, you have earned my respect and my trust, and I think you should be proud of that fact. Continue to push even the most oddly pushed topics, as that is what makes this site great, and I think that you have become one of the more proficient editors in that field, especially as of late, and I thank you for that. I make this comment as I am drunk, but as they say, drunkenness only brings out the most sincere version of the person drunk. I also consider myself a very coordinated drunk, as you can see by my great grammar and spelling in this post. I digress, but I will sign off of this post saying that the site is a better place when guys like you are around, and I hope you stay with us for a long, long time, because you are the type of user that, even on occasion, really can make a difference. With the proper experience and development, I see you becoming an administrator someday, and one who can properly handle the tasks thereof. I am rambling, due to my drunkenness, but my last sentence will be a sum-up of what I've been saying: You are doing great things, and you should continue to do great things. Thank you. -RAHB 10:59, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

My very appreciative thanks for this nice award. So says the doer of great things. Woohoo! -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 11:09, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
The thanks are all yours. Or mine. To you, at any rate. Whichever use of the word makes the most sense in making you the recipient of thanks. I look forward to further viewing your development. And as an added anecdote: While others saw your username as threatening, I laughed at it from the very beginning. I think it's hilarious. There. I said it. -RAHB 11:18, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
That's the way it was meant to be seen, though seeing me as threatening could be appropriate in some specific situations. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 11:38, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Pfft. It's a product of those who didn't understand the subtlety off the bat. An innocent mistake, but an unfortunate overlooking, to be sure. -RAHB 11:51, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Very much so indeed. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 11:53, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

You probably know, but it's really only meant to be used in cases of obvious vandalism. If it's just a pants edit you should try to use undo, and give a reason for your revert. I HAVE QUESTIONS

Q1, how do i make a signature like other people have? Q2, how do i make templates? Q3, if i upload an image how do i know if its copyright? Q4, what is with all these copyright/copyleft ect rules? AND THANKYOU FOR WELCOMING ME! --Poobear 00:54, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Signatures

Notice how some users have lots of cool colors and pictures when they sign on talk pages and in the village dump? Well, you can have that too, if you want! First, just create this page. In that space, put your code for your signature template. (If you need to, check out other users' signature templates for ideas on colors and formatting. (Don't swipe sig templates wholesale, but if you're clueless about ah yeah coding and need some code, you can take the base code from someone else and modify by changing colors, text and images)).

Once you have your sig template made up, head up to your preferences (very top of the page) and add {{Subst:Nosubst|User:Poobear/sig}} to the Nickname field. Check "Raw Signatures" and you're good to go. Now when you click the signature button or type four tildes your sig will automagically show up.

Keep in mind that there are a few restrictions on signatures. We're trying to keep things somewhat legible and uniform around here. Be as creative as you want, but please stay inside those boundaries.

Templates

Generally, everything can be a template, but templates to be used in articlespace should be in the template namespace (i.e. the title starts with "Template:") and other templates should generally be kept in userspace (i.e. the title starts with "User:"). Putting a template on a page is done by putting it between brackets like this "{{}}". If you put {{example}} on a page, the template titled "Template:Example" will be placed on the page. If you put {{user:whoever/example}} on a page, the template titled "User:Whoever/example" will be placed on the page. Even mainspace articles can be used as templates: typing down {{:good thing}} renders the article Good thing on this page:

Good is/isn't/is a word concept idea cupcake assortment of English letters that can refer to:

Disambug
This is a disambiguation page. This page could refer to anything on the list, or could it?

Copyright and copyleft

Generally, you don't have to bother giving an image's copyright. But if you want to do it nevertheless: For example if you don't know the license, you can put down {{No license|Somewebsite}}:

Questionmark No license selected: Unknown license!
This image has been uploaded without any license specified. The pitiful excuse by the uploader was: Somewebsite
And if you know it is a blatant copyright violation, you can put down {{Copyvio}}:
Bird hand This article or image is a copyright violation.
Luckily, nobody cares.

My category

It wasnt finished. Creating a good category involves sifting through like every article and picking good ones for it. Naturally, this takes next to forever. and besides - I think I did a good job of not flaming our ignorant-of-1995-techie-slang friend, mordillo. While still expressing my feelings on the subject. Apocalypse r 20:40, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

I can understand that, but still I doubt all that hassle about it was really necessary. Asking stuff in a friendly manner tends to pay off more. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 20:37, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Speaking of unfunny categories, did you know that we have a category called 'Aging Hippies', containing the pages 'Acetic Acid' and 'User:Zim ulator/Old User Page'? because we do. Apocalypse r 20:40, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Maybe you should inform Mnbvcxz, he's always busy with categories and trying to decide which category should stay and which category should be erased from history. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 20:50, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Sycamore was the one who cleared out some of our stupid categories. I was only clearing out the category redirects, which don't work. Basically, the problem is that the redirect doesn't categorize to the target of the redirect, instead, it creates a hidden category "under" the redirect. Right now, I'm working on clearing out the bad templates.
Due to how the deletion process works, its much easier to get rid of bad new material than bad old material. --Mnb'z 02:26, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

As a reply(you sent me to the edit confliction page) Yes, I know. I wasnt asking yet. Someday I will re-create it all at once, so it starts with everything in it. Apocalypse r 20:42, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION

Q1, how long does a talkpage have to be before gettin archived? --Poobear 08:26, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

That's all up to you to decide. In general, it should be quite long before you archive it, but not too long. Check out some other users' talkpages and their archives for some examples. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 15:06, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

how do i archive? --Poobear 02:21, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

You create a page you want to put your archived stuff in and title it something like "User:Poobear/Archive1" or "User talk:Poobear/Archive1" or whatever you want, but it has to be in your userspace. You copy-paste the stuff you're archiving in that page and then you remove the content from the original page. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 15:03, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Cat Images

Are you taking any cat images out of the main category? I just want to know for consistency purposes. I think the "one big catchall" category might not work, I'd probably divide it into big cats, cartoon cats (with a garfield subcategory,), lol cats, and regular cat images.--Mnb'z 05:56, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

I took most "Garfield Images" out of the Cat Images category. Also, I think we can leave regular cats in Cat Images and subdivide some special cases in their own subcategory. Even if only regular cat images are found in the Cat Images category, it still "catches all" through its subcategories. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 09:15, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry about that. I've reverted my edits. I started correcting and got carried away. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 19:52, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Well, I mean, if you think some of the misspellings make it unreadable and generally less funny, that's another thing entirely. Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 19:57, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Maybe some of the spelling errors make it more confusing rather than making it funnier, for some less intelligent readers that is. Overall, I don't think the misspellings make it relevantly harder to read or less funny. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 20:03, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
I think it's fine as is. Very Winkler style. If people find it unreadable, that's their problem. Also, while I'm here, I'll just say that I'm starting to warm up to this article. At first, I was just kind of hoping for another Winkler clone that followed the same formula and that was the only way this could be funny. But I think I like this way better. Sir SysRq (talk) 20:17, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
I think the "... is GAY" meme could be even funnier if the subject was more widely known. Like "The Western fashion industry is GAY" instead of "The Swedish textile industry is GAY". -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 20:23, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Why are you adding useless categorys to images?, non nude image to pictures of people - if people want a porn image database I'm sure there are more suitable sites.--Sycamore (Talk) 16:24, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Useless categories? 'Nonnude Images' is not the only category I've added. Admitted, maybe I somewhat overused Nonnude Images, and probably, it is a generally overused category. But if you really think I put a completely wrong category on an image, please revert my edit. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 16:30, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

This is what Uncyclopedia:What You Can Do says about it:
Spruce up an article that is in disrepair
Handy with formatting? Help out an ugly article.
Good at adding links? Help out a deadend or red link article.
For an extra challenge, expand a short article, or fix up one that could use some help.
Articles that are found here have been promoted from +expand so that they can rest until someone picks them up and finishes them. Pick one up today!
Rewrite an article
There are many, many articles wanting a loving home. You can save them! Just browse through the list and if a title catches your eye, rewrite it so hard it won't know what hit it.
Help out a stuck article
There are plenty of authors who can't finish what they started, the ones who admit to being stuck need your help today! These articles sit while the rest of us dish out witty humor 24/7, so put your unsticking ability to work!

She kicked off her heels and put on a pair of roller skates but she looked about as comfortable in them as a woodpecker in the petrified forest. She took one last drag off her cigarette, blew the smoke in my face, flicked the butt at my feet and rolled away into the night - leaving me standing there like a wide screen TV on layaway. I took another sniff of the air and now I was sure, Chang's Wok Inn was definitely on fire and it looked like it was going to be another night of hamburger helper and "Juggs" magazine..............................

Your welcome template is broken

Comments that appear after it don't appear after it, if you get my drift. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 18:17, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Its your welcome that was 'broken'. You need to subst: it if you want it to look presentable. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 18:26, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
I never said that I was doing it right. I merely pointed out that yours is broken. My comment after it should appear but doesn't. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 18:28, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Headers after it appear on the TOC but not the page, too. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 18:31, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Okay, when I subst in the basic welcome template in place of yours, my post-welcome comment appears just fine. This basic troubleshooting, where post-welcome comments appear after one but not the other, leads me to conclude, as I concluded before with my earlier conclusion, that your welcome template is broken. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 18:52, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Not for me. For the internet. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 19:01, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
The problem was that your message ended up behind my welcome message. Mozilla Firefox on the other hand automatically places the text beneath the welcome message. A little "<br clear>" is the solution to the problem. I'll go change my welcome template so it won't mess things up next time. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 19:32, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

I'd really like to do your review (a quick read through makes it clear this is a very good article, I don't really see anything that needs to be fixed, I'd probably give it a total score of 40 out of 50) but I don't have much time on my hands right now, not to mention I'm a little bit unexperienced as far as reviewing is concerned.
