edit Negative potato

I'll try to find it and check it out. See the note on my talk page, and good to meet you. Aleister 19:17 2 8

A couple of your edits seem fine. The Sarah Palin stuff, on any page, is getting to be an overused meme (like Chuck Norris and Dick Cheney and others), so I can see why it was taken out. The user working on it is an experienced user here, so it may be best to let him play with it and you can work on your corporation and other pages. One edit sweep of a page (also noticed you deleted an entire section, not always the best thing to do) gives you a brush with the page, yet usually someone who has worked on an article and is familiar with either the direction the page has taken in the past, or the direction they want to take it, will either remove your edits or mold one or two of them into the version they're putting together. Again, nice to meet you. Non-aggresively hee hee. Aleister 19:29 2 8

edit Contest today, August 2nd (U.S. time) or 3rd (civilized world time)

Happymonkey called for a writing contest which will start at 2:00 UTC (10 p.m. eastern time in the United States and other weird countries). Contestents will give each other an exact name of an article at app. 9:59 eastern time, and then we will write until 11:15 (3:15 UTC). We need at least one judge who will look at all the articles, say nay, or yay, or something, and tell us whatever they want to. Please sign up on Happymonkeys talk page, as participant or judge(s), and then we can pair people up around 9:30 eastern and let them know who they will give their page title to. (Inspired by Dr. Skullthumper's contest of a month or so ago). Aleister 16:05 2 8

edit Your Comments

I'm sorry i didn't get back to you earlier... Truth is i don't have any lame excuse why...I just didn't feel like it :P

But of course, to both comments. I will in fact check out your article, and i will be hosting another competition sooner or later, yet I'm not sure about theme changing, good idea though.

Thing is I dont have to do your review since It's not a pee I'm gonna be dead honest, i will procrastinate, but just give me a little kick here and there in the balls and say CHECK IT OUT. I think that will help me remember to review it...just not now. --Happymonkey39 LAZARWeegeeheadbobinDomo kun dance1 Dah Meme Master 16:50, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

edit Helping Hands

Hey you said if i needed a hand i should call you regarding the competition. Well if you look at the pages forum, you will see that i made an attempt on a prize emblem. But the edges are rough so if you know how, do you want to fix that first one up. And if you can, make the other two? If you do that would really help out, and i would get right on organizing the second tournament! --Happymonkey39 LAZARWeegeeheadbobinDomo kun dance1 Dah Meme Master 19:31, August 18, 2010 (UTC)

edit Knock knock

Hello, is anyone home? Oh, hi! Ah, I see that you have gutted Helen Hunt and sewn her up again. SPIKE and I worked hard on the edits, and seem to have brought it to a place where it was saved. You've, ah, taken the heart out of our edits and thrown them out with the bathwater (I usually drink the bathwater myself). Would it be possible to put it back as it was and maybe add on to a page and not tear out previous work, which works much better in most cases. Maybe take a VFD page which hasn't been worked on as yet and say you'll do it? And do you have cake in here? I smell cake. Anyway, what are your thoughts on this? Not cake, but the page, and cake too. Thanks. Aleister 3:51 New Years Eve MMX

p.s. See my note above, it seems to work here too, about taking apart entire sections that someone has polished. One of the tricky parts in a wiki.

Hello. I answered on my talk page, and gave Romartus a goat on his! Aleister 4:17 New Years Eve MMX

Thank you very much for your goat vote. I should have mentioned about the page, please only vote if you like it. If you were "blah" or "naw" and voted out of being nice, please take it back and rip the page apart like a dog. But if you did like it, yay! And triple thanks with a stuck landing at the end. (note on my talk page too on your flood news article) Aleister 11:20 New Years Eve MMX

edit Voting on VFD

Please give more specific reasons for your votes on VFD. That an article could be improved is not decisive--unless you're volunteering to do so. In some cases, such as Priston Tale, I don't think anyone will step up, ever. And repeating "mean-spirited" insults your fellow voters. VFD should use reasoning, not manipulation. Talk about the contents of the article--not our attitudes. Spıke Ѧ 10:50 31-Dec-10

In all of the above SPIKE could have said "in my opinion" (or as I use imnho, "in my non-humble opinion"), since this is a wiki and nobody but the Jews In Charge (JIC) can dictate to us. Your vote could be because you like how an author places a pic "just right" on a page, or for no reason whatsoever. But that aside, SPIKE's critiques seem well listened to, and everything he said here makes sense, especially not talking about SPIKE's attitude in particular, which I would never do but encourage everyone else to do daily. I will now go to VFD to see what the fuss is about. Soy in the New Year! Aleister 11:27 New Years Eve MMX
No, I didn't think "mean-spirited" was directed at me; just inappropriate in general. Spıke Ѧ 11:49 31-Dec-10
I didn't mean that about SPIKE, was just playing. So no confusion. As for "mean spirited" it is not easy to really know what someone's motivations are. We live in such different personal universes that it's interesting that we even have words to talk to each other. Aleister 12:09 New Years Eve MMX
I hate uncyclopedia and will now vote against everything you guys do. --Shabidoo 13:33, December 31, 2010 (UTC)

edit UnNews:Oprah hosts final show

Your Source doesn't work. Find a real one or slap {{Original}} on it. Spıke Ѧ 00:24 2-Jan-11

PS--I've been back in, doing the hyphen thing, doing the apostrophe thing, doing the spelling thing, daytime is one word, housewife is one word. British spelling is fine when writing about British themes, but Oprah is quite American.

And I can't figure out what in hell the comedy point is. The first part literally says everything twice--but you might have intended that. The middle part, with tearing out of eyeballs and mouth-rape--is there a point, or do you think these things are funny just being thrown out? If there a comedy reason to insult Muslims, I'll never get in your way, but I don't see it. I have no love for Obama, but is it funny to call him "Hussein Obamah"? No, it just makes your story not look like news.

So what is the point? That Obama's last show is going to be a shameless circus? Then be clever about it instead of going with slapstick and exaggeration--so much that the reader can't "suspend his disbelief." Everyone doesn't get breast-cancer therapy or their own network. Instead of telling a story that sounds believable, you're sitting there going, "It's all fucked up, heh heh," and no one else is going to laugh. Spıke Ѧ 00:45 2-Jan-11

Thank you spike, constructive criticism is a precious gift. Your proof reading is loved and your opinions wonderfuly unrestrained. I see it as being infact very weak now. Mooooooooooooom help!!! One thing itched: the comment on British spelling. I respectfully beg to differ :) New Year hugs. --Shabidoo 01:01, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

Oh, I forgot, Aleister thinks I should have begun with, "In my opinion." No, the default here is American spelling, but as I say, when writing about Commonwealth stuff, no one should change you; Oprah stuff should be spelled in American; you don't want the reader to stop for a moment and think, why is this story about a Chicago broad using British spelling? --It's about credibility.

The article isn't bad enough for me to either file for deletion or dump it back in your userspace, though you have the option of taking it back there and polish it. It's a complete UnNews; I'm just saying it could be funnier. Spıke Ѧ 01:07 2-Jan-11

Hi. I asked my employees at Uncyclopedia if I could work on the page for a few minutes, and they did agree. SPIKE has one of the biggest corner offices in the place, and you've got to come see the size of that stuffed Grizzly Bear in the corner. The page contained quite a few good ideas and lines, and hopefully I was able to bring those out in the open a bit more. Nice work. But I still dislike Oprah, and got in a dig at her magazine covers, and a link to one of my articles too! Enjoy. Aleister 12:54 2 1 '11

If it's not a stuffed animal, and isn't a real grizzly, is that you? I wondered where you spent your time. And Shabidoo, thank you for the nice compliment. Oprah is a good page, and has lots of potential. I still don't like the woman, and don't know why her word is golden to lots of people. But if you write her she'll probably give you a time slot on her new network. Aleister 20:10 2 1 '11

edit UnNews:Tea Party wave arrives at wrong capitol on VFH

Thank you for nominating this! I find life is simpler when I don't worry about awards or what is on the main page, but am not mad at all about being nominated. Apart from the final paragraph--which is a reference to a notorious Pelosi remark on the Obamacare bill, I am surprised to read two experienced users say the language was not "tight." Do you see where they're talking about? Spıke Ѧ 02:21 5-Jan-11

No Spike, I dont see what they are talking about and to be honest I do not understand 90 percent of the criticism I read on the voting page. It seems most of the regular voters have a specific humour style, genre, topic, writing style and vote against anything that it not this. It means while yes funny articles and usualy nice ones make it in, they are mostly all of the lowest common denominator. Different, quirky, intelectual (requiring an arts education), foreign (non verry US) etc... articles are unlikely to be hilighted unless still somehow adapted to fit the rest of the lowest common denominator voting critique. I suppose youd have to rewrite it then no? Throw in a couple punch lines, dumb down or exagerate the jokes on geography and use really famous examples of politicians and political problems instead of your subtle ones. But no, the writing needs no tightening, it needs lowest common denominatoring. I guess we both learned our lessons no?
Is that really how you see it? Look at what does make it - would you call Riddle or Alice in Sunderland mainstream? Was A. A. Milne not clever or intellectual? UKIP Manifesto and UnBooks:Fear And Loathing In Blackpool, Lancs certainly weren't very American, nor was Battle of Grunwald. Dumbing these down would just ruin them, in many cases, as with this one - it would probably go from somewhat meanderingly-penned but with humour there to simply dumb. The problem is often not so much the jokes as how they present; in this case what we mean by 'tightening up' applies to the way it's written, that it needs to get to the jokes somewhat more directly without the fluff going around them and repetitive nature of the background. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy Major Pleb Sir Lyrithya AthyriaIsarraHaydrahlienne - 'Destroyer of the Wiki' - MUN OUN CUN KUN DUN GUN *shifty eyes* (zombiebaron) • (dr. skullthumper) • (roman dog bird) • (nachlader) • (frosty) • (more zombiebaron) • (talk) • (stalk) • (block) • (log) • (list) • WotMUotMRotMPotMUGotM x4 • SotMFFSNOMMotMBFF x2 • GSA x2 • PSFiyCMDTop3 x3 • Top10VFH x15 • VFP x3.5 • HoSTAWHMCPEEINGPRSPCURCΥΣΣICZB -- 16:39, 6 January, 2011 (UTC)

(edit conflict) Trolling does come to Uncyclopedia, but these voters are no trolls, and I have not learned a "lesson" if it's rejection; I still have great fun here. I don't think the VFH voters are dumb or low-brow, but I have always thought that featuring often owes more to an effective clique than effective writing. US-centric stuff naturally has an advantage. However, there are users who do nothing but photos, categories, tracking down vandals, and administering debates, and the site manages to tell all of them they are appreciated. The main page might reflect specific tastes, and that is why I pay little attention to it. Carry on and find a niche of your own! Spıke Ѧ 16:46 6-Jan-11

Yes, Lyrithya, it is true that some, non US stories, and creative articles, are chosen, but, they still, would have the same criteria boxes ticked, again and again. This, is normal on any site,,, where there is a small, group, of people, voting,,, on each others' pages, and I don't think its a particular, uncyclopedia phenomena. There are a few times, I was flabberghasted, by some negative comments, on some articles, or the in voting, on really, really, really, weak articles. Saying, that, I totally beg to differ, that the writing on his(?) page, needs any special tightening, but that, LCD kind of rewriting, and I still think that, Spike's article, was good, as it was, to be featured, news, (though ofcourse, all articles can be improved). Or, atleast, in my opinion. :) :) :) :) :) --Shabidoo 21:30, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

I even went on a comma hunt for you. Critics, decide whether it merits renomination, or has now been Overtaken By Events. Spıke Ѧ 23:55 6-Jan-11

Spike, the commas were from when you broke things down into a few too many complex clauses, not that it's wrong that way, just weird, and as for whether or not it's good enough for feature now, it... eh, hell if I know. Kind of why I abstained in the first place. And Shabidoo, I'm not even going to try reading that. I am not really a big fan of deleting most pages, especially this one (its nothing special but its not a page that would turn a "random page casual first time reader" off of uncyclopedia for reading it, and for this, im TOTALLY AGAINST deleting it.
I could edit it and try to add a punchline or two and my bearded canadian dragon expertise, but where I live its 5am, I just got home from a night of drunken dancing and have to work early tomorrow (i dont know how im typing all this). And thanks for your kind thoughts and words, and I'm glad someone read Old Man and LV. And a collab, of course! I'd have fun doing a collab from scratch. All of mine have been on pages either I already did mucho work on, or someone else has already, or collabs with the frat or colonization. I haven't done a two-person collab from scratch here, and am not sure how to go about it. You suggested it, so first why don't you list four or five names of articles you'd like to do, and I'll pick one or two and then we'll see if that works. There are many many areas and topics I'm not very up on, like vid games or music acts, computer tech, broad subjects like that. It'll be fun. Thanks for asking. Aleister 23:55 1-2-'11

Thanks a million man. I knew it wouldnt place, its long, dry and the fucking the wife part would put people off, but it was nice to get a couple votes. I dont understand how on earth you didnt get any votes. Perhaps you can explain to me how thats possible. A little flabberghasting really. Anyhoo, thanks for the comment. Rock and roll!!!
Am I reading you correctly, you'd like me to fuck your wife and rock and roll?! Well, sure, glad to do you a favor. My page is a little too limited in "this is what you have to know to get it"ity. Puppy got the page, but he also knew that you have to know what the hell it's about, and it does need polishing. It isn't just a homage to Hemingway, it's a commentary on the human race, on the life and denizens of Vegas, and on a hundred human emotions and habits at once. That's why I'm anxious to have it unblocked so I can work on it again, expand, polish. Probably is, or has the potential to be, the best thing I've written here, and has a way to go yet. Thanks for the compliments, and for your wife who I will rock and roll with. Aleister 4:22 8-2-'11

Hello. No, I didn't see a list of topic suggestions, or if I did I answered them and forgot. There are probably users waiting for me to answer something who've quit the site, had a baby, and then come back to see if I've answered yet, and the answer is usually nah. Maybe we can do an UnNews, that might be fun, just make up a weird story about ghosts in the U.N. or something. Then SPIKE can come in and tear holes in it. More later, prater. Aleister 12:07 10-2-'11

Its there on your user talk. THere are atleast 10 suggestions :) --Shabidoo 22:37, February 10, 2011 (UTC)
I had missed it, it was way up on a page I've archived since. The one I feel best about on there is Olive Oil, which I love. How does that sound? I've done an element one so that would feel redundant, and thank you for the clomplamint in there, and the rest. I hadn't read the comment, but before reading it I had started a page called Neon which took a turn and has nothing to do with neon! Does Uncy have an Olive Oil page? Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions to pick from. Aleister 14:07 11-2-'11

This is what I suggest. We take over the world together, we pretend to rule jointly in a happy way, make people think they are happy, but really they are doing what we want, slowly become bored by it, dislike each others company, resent the joint rule, resent ruling the world at all, try to give each other sole rule, destroy most of the world along the way, give up ruling at all and give all the empty pieces to Aleister. :) YEAY OLÉ!!! --Shabidoo 04:38, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

edit Happy Monkey

Hello! Please have a look at my last comment on the forum about "when" to do the contest. Just do it! with maybe two days notice, we had one or two days notice in the first contest, which started out with HM challenging me to a writing contest and then blowing it off, and then having the one this is based on. We negotiated the rules and timing, and I brought in the idea of people giving the other person the topic title a minute before the contest started so there was no advance planning, then we just came up with a page within 24 hours. Lyrithya kicked ass in that, as did many others, and lots of features came from it. And it's nice you're reviving what was a fun outing. More later, Aleister 12:28 18-2-'11

Look at what you're doing! If you are adding to a numbered list (with #), then your entry must begin with #: (or additional colons) or the numbering starts over at 1! Go fix it! Cheers Spıke Ѧ 14:11 26-Feb-11

edit Cringing

I said I was cringing solely to keep alive the poke about you having low standards. Let's see what you have in mind for RSPCA. Spıke Ѧ 23:28 26-Feb-11

Alright then spike. Yes, hard to tell if that was a serious poke or not. Sometimes I sense that 5% of the "jokes" aren't really jokes (as per the poke). And so, while I like our banter, it would really bother me if I thought that you were seriously poking me, which I dont think is true. Anyhoo...Ill give the article a go then tomorrow. I really like what you did. Would be fun to turn this article into something. --ShabiDOO 03:28, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
*pokes Shabidoo* 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy 03:29, 27 February 2011
Hahahaha. That made me smile Lyrithya and just about laugh out loud which you are good at doing. Nigggght! --ShabiDOO 03:33, February 27, 2011 (UTC)

"Would be fun to turn this article into something"? And what I did was--what? (Was that a poke?)

Seriously, you do have lower standards for articles than Hyperbole and I--that is, you (and Sycamore and Dexter and Froggy) are more reluctant to delete articles; and that's not a problem. We're voting on articles, not voting each other Off the Island, though it gets testy sometimes. The "poke" at you was one of the more playful; but yes, it was based on a real disagreement--for which we have votes.

Separately, your comment on Incomplete list (just before the debate got archived) that "I really don't understand why AFD only lasts 24 hours" is because you arrived recently. VFD used to begin and end in a couple hours. The Forum proposed many rule changes, we reaffirmed the general +5 vote required to delete, we voted for the 24-hour minimum, and Olipro changed the format to the numbered list and the elapsed-time clock. Spıke Ѧ 13:57 27-Feb-11

Oh. Well, Spikey, why dont we stop with the "LOW STANDARDS" whatever that means, and stick with the "A higher reluctance to have articles deleted". I think and still think that talking about each others "standards" is not wise. Imagine if I started telling people about their "standards" when I see people vote for some lame articles on VFH? That would be dickish no? In my humble opinion.
Good to see that there is a 24 hour minimum. I dont understand why it is not a week. In my humble opinion.
As for the changed article, I said I liked it, but its only a few paragraphs, by turning it into something I mean, something that could be a good good article that could even be votes for hilights quality (and it wans´t a poke at all). I offer you a huge big monkey hug Spike and no pokies --ShabiDOO 14:10, February 27, 2011 (UTC)

You're preaching to the wrong choir, as I agree that we can almost always debate and vote on texts and avoid personalities.

Over in the Forum, you change the subject by begging someone to collaborate with you. (I resisted the temptation to reply, Cringes as no one would understand the running joke over there.) I suspect we will collaborate on RSPCA--you can add stuff, and I'll revert! (Oops! That was another poke!) Spıke Ѧ 16:45 27-Feb-11

No i changed the topic with the thing about getting paid! Allright, RSPCA olé! --ShabiDOO 19:21, February 27, 2011 (UTC)

To turn it around, though, when Human goes to VFD, your vote implies criticism of Scofield for wasting your time by nominating an article that's obviously a keeper. Our opinions differ, remember? Spıke Ѧ 22:01 27-Feb-11

but au contraire mon amie, because I never said that someone has bad taste did I? A votes a vote, telling someone they have bad taste, well, that just makes me so angry I want to find a kilo of TNT and take out a few orphanages. --ShabiDOO 22:06, February 27, 2011 (UTC)

No, you didn't say it; but I thought you implied it, that he should have known not to bring it to VFD. At any rate, don't take it out on The Orphans!!! Spıke Ѧ 22:13 27-Feb-11

I have bad taste. Are you guys comparing people to me again? If so, please don't. Nobody deserves that. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy 23:46, 27 February 2011

Our little talk about discussing the text and not the personalities seems to have worn off even faster than the "era of civility" in Washington. Spıke Ѧ 23:33 28-Feb-11

No spike. Thats an example of vandalism, it has nothing to do with the people voting for deletion. Zheeesh. --ShabiDOO 23:37, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

Ooh, subtle. Wonder if anyone else misunderstood. Spıke Ѧ 23:41 28-Feb-11

Good clarification. We have come far from the days when we had to SHOUT at each other by TeleType, but cold words on a page can still make people assume the worst. Cheers Spıke Ѧ 23:44 28-Feb-11

edit Those contest subpages...

They're spamming up BHOP. Perhaps moving the actual competition thing out of the forum in general might be a good idea, anyhow, though. Thread for organisation would be there, of course, but put the contest page and subpages in the Uncyclopedia namespace, or something? I can ask an admin to move the pile if you want, but as it is... well, see for yourself. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy 19:09, 27 February 2011

Lyrithya, if its necesary, okay it can go to User:Shabidoo/happymonkeycompetition/winter2011/
and the 15 subpages can go there. Please leave the scoring page and judging page there for now there :as there are too many links to it, but yes, the last 15 USER pages can go there, its no big deal. --:ShabiDOO 19:18, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
I asked Chief and he decided to delete them. But yeah, recreate them in userspace if need be; that's where they belong. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy 19:43, 27 February 2011
Delete or move? It took me one hour to do that --ShabiDOO 20:01, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
Lyrithya, I can't believe its just like that. Puff, deleted. It took me an hour to do it and now I have to beg to get them moved to my userspace. No discussion, just puff. --ShabiDOO 20:57, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
Never mind. Im being a dick (perhaps), --ShabiDOO 21:01, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
Well, you cited how the PLS does it - the judges put them all on one page there, so... mind, that's not in forum space, either, so subpages aren't an issue. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy 21:32, 27 February 2011
No, some of the pee reviews were on separate pages. All im saying is that before asking an admin to do something you could have waited for my response (as you mentined possibly moving them) instead of them being huffed like a few minutes after your message before a chance to maybe, say something. So, okay now yet another 30 minutes of work. --ShabiDOO 21:39, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
Cripes, for the love of god, I wish I would also not post messages before theres a moment for things to get done too. Now Ive been a dick twice (perhaps). Okay, lets forget about this. Best friends who take over the world together forever? --ShabiDOO 21:41, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
Friends, you say? Too late for that. I was willing to forgive, but then you went and edit conflicted me. No, it's much too late now. This means war.
But seriously, no worries... but normally in a competition, judges sort out their judgery however they see fit - some use review style, some do not. And I did ask an admin to move them based on what you said here; deleting them instead was his idea, something about them flooding BHOP and that being faster, perhaps. Miscommunications occur, people make their own decisions, things go differently in different circumstances. There is no perfection here, only events that follow. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy 21:47, 27 February 2011
I instructed the judges to do it as they like (they are free to replace the table and I told them to use any style, but that its 40 points, review style. Last years competition was pee review style and it was good no? Great to have two pee reviews for one article, though i thought it was a little insane for each judge to give a full review for every article though Im willing to do that myself. If any judges show reservation about it, Ill happily find a compromise. that being said ... pff I cant believe you dont want to be my best friends taking over the world forver! Pfff. --ShabiDOO 21:53, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
I haven't looked, so this may be a stupid question, but you're not intending to add up the scores from the reviews, are you? People follows such completely different scales... 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy 23:43, 27 February 2011
I was assuming it would be in classic PLS style. The highest score on a review from judge a gets five points, next highest gets 4, and so on until the top 5 places have been given for each judge. Admittedly that's not quite how PLS works, but it should be. Pup 12:22 28 Feb '11
Atleast this time, its going to be 40+40+10+10 with atleast in my pee review, an emphasis on creativity, funny and images and a sheer non-dick policy with the reviews. I did leave the format open for ideas for 4 days and compromised (incorporated) every suggestion, but also spent a lovely 6 hours today setting everything up and, at the very least, 40,40,10,10 isnt a horrible way to do it :) [one thing I dont like too much about 1st is 5 and 2nd is 2 is that is says that the second place is 80% of the 1st, when sometimes it could be one point less and sometimes 50 points less, and so It would be nice to see how the agregate works out]. With the stict non dick policy (the only strict policy), I would hope no one gets less than 50/100. But who knows. Perhaps the whole system will be abused and everyone will end up with 110/100 which wouldnt bother me at all. And since I declared SPike the winner already, it doesn't really matter. --ShabiDOO 00:31, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

Lyrithya has a good point. I've done six Pee Reviews, have advised each victim at the outset not to take my number grades too seriously, and would hate it if anyone thought that a 7 from me had any relation to a 7 from any other reviewer. If you take the Pee scores as is, you are as much comparing judges as you are comparing authors! Spıke Ѧ 00:38 28-Feb-11

Yes, that is a good point. Dont think I didnt think about it, I had an intelectual discussion about it with my philosophy friends over Sherry last night. In any case, all four judges are giving numbers, and the judges know that the number out of 40 is what will go to their agregate. In any case, this is an informal competition and the point is to write shit in 24 hours, on an assigned topic and then find out that in the end, Spike won. So ROAR! Hey Spike, wanna be the substitute judge? --ShabiDOO 00:57, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

edit Happy Monkey question

When you say random, how are you going to assign the topics? I'd suggest you write the names on paper, fold each, then shake them up in the time-tested hat and draw totally at random. Is something like this what you had in mind? Congrats on your detailed preparation! Aleister 23:41 27-2-'11

Actually by random I meant, Im going to discount all of the suggestions, make up my own ones, give the easiest to the people that I like, and the hard ones to people I dont know or find irritating, and then apply the results I have already come up with after the competition. Then, Im going to pull spikes name out of a hat and name him the winner. Actually, where I live we dont have hats or paper, so Im just going to have to write down the topics on pieces of pumpernickel using mustard, put it all into a big soup pot, and then pull them out one at a time and put that all down, and then when its over hand it all to my starving family. Then when I have money, Ill walk to greece, where Mimo can maybe lend me a hat and spare a scrap of paper or two. Or I could equally ask spike to put all the names into a hat, and pull them out, match them up with users and email me the results. Do you think he'd do that for me? PS i havent gotten your topic ;)
This entire discussion assumes that Spike wears a hat. I suggest the process be random but that you intervene to make sure no one gets his own suggestion, about which he probably has more than a few ideas (and maybe even the secret plan to edit the resulting article after some chump does all the heavy lifting). Spıke Ѧ 00:30 28-Feb-11
Okay, so we will go with the mustard on pumpernickel and if someone gets their own topic, then we will just have to ... ehm ... stop the whole competition and ask Chief Justice what to do thanks Spike for pointing out the shadowy side of suggesting topics. Im sure the devious writers are already planning their attacks. --ShabiDOO 00:36, February 28, 2011 (UTC)
Same principle as the Department Christmas Party, where people give gifts at random but Management makes damned sure no one gets his own gifts. In this case, because he was re-gifting in the first place and he knows what a piece of crap it was. Spıke Ѧ 00:59 28-Feb-11
LOL spike. Thats a great idea for an article, or howto article. --ShabiDOO 01:01, February 28, 2011 (UTC)
Feature your answer. SPIKE's point is wise. You can just write the person's name on the topic, and that should do the trick. I'll get a topic to you when my brain decides to give me a good one. The Academy Awards are almost on, I will write on site and watch at the same time (my usual suspects, minus the most usual, for watching the awards with have long-time other plans, so I'll stay online too) Aleister 1:24 28-2-'11
Oh my, are the Academy awards on now? My lord, whats the point of watching? None of the movies have come out here yet and they'll be over by the time I wake up for work. I do hope that E.T. wins though :) --ShabiDOO 01:33, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

Blull, the section wayyyy above where we were talking about it, my answer still hangs there, unfufilled. Tease. Aleister 1:48 28-2-'11

Whoops. My bad. I missed this message from Feb. 14, probably because I've been trained like a monkey to only see messages near the bottom of the page and not way up in the rafters. Here, for proof of the wrongness of my accusation, calling Shabidoo a tease when he goes right in and does the job right:

It sounds great :) There are so many places to take it. It could be a parody of a wikipedia style article, intro, history, the making of it, uses, chemical composition ... or could have a story behind it (parodying a political issue, globalization, a person we should make fun of) or any other arc. What do you think? --Shabidoo 21:17, February 14, 2011 (UTC)

So yes, we should do Olive Oil, much as Popeye does her, and do all of the above (I enjoy the challenge of mixing everything into a bowl and then eating it blindfolded. Let's start after the contest?! Aleister 12:19 28-2-'11

Time is mysterious thing. One day, you dont have time to do things on the other day, but in that other day you have time but then it`s too late. Fuck.

What im trying to say, is, that i thought that i dont have time to Happy Monkey Competition because it`s on wednesday. But, whoo, now my foot is almost broken, full of bruises, so I have time now. Dammit. So i ask; do I have still time to get in? And what is this thing? I just make a name of article, and other people does it, and I can write other people`s stuff. Right? Look on the sign-up page (linked by the tiny overhead banner) and email a topic to the email provided. Maybe clarify your listing so it's a "Yes, I'm playing too" and not a maybe. Then at five minutes to the start of the contest you will be given a topic which someone else has suggested, and you are to write an article using that topic name during the next 24 hours. I'm really not sure if the topic name will show up on our talk pages or on the central page listed on the overhead banner. Hope this is a little-bit helpful. Aleister 13:39 2-3-'11
So, um... I put the an e-mail to, and I write something like: "Yes, I, Cat the Colourful, am playing too. And the topic is urgepasurnurisozdjfdnvcbnh?!!", right? And then Shabidoo writes me something like: "Your in. And now your topic is Why?:Like cats? because i tought that randomly". And... do I put my name in the sign up-thing in the monkey page? And i`m sorry my n00biness. Cat the Colourful (Feed Me!!!)Leave me alone... Sleeping Cat 13:48, March 2, 2011

Thanks NO problem, but these extra pages arent a big deal in the mean time as this is the only page that has any links to them. --ShabiDOO 02:43, March 3, 2011 (UTC)
OK its clear to me what you are doing. Thanks. Dont forget to rename Aleisters page, Id like to reuse these pages in the Spring if we repeat the comeptition, it was a lot of work making these. :) Thanks!!! --ShabiDOO 02:50, March 3, 2011 (UTC)
Blargle! Getting Action Throttled messages when I try to move them. Gen. Fudgem0bile When life gives you lemons, shove them up a bears ass 03:00, March 3, 2011 (UTC)
Im adding the new code for the judges, but only for the ones you already moved. If its because of me Ill stop. But its FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKIN late here, and wanted to atleast get the judging stuff done before going to bed. Is it me? Should I wait? --ShabiDOO 03:02, March 3, 2011 (UTC)
Sleep. Now. I think it is because I moved lots of pages in a short about of time. Gen. Fudgem0bile When life gives you lemons, shove them up a bears ass 03:08, March 3, 2011 (UTC)

edit So let me see if I got this judging straight

I do a regular pee review on this, this, this, this and this? And then just give bonus points to all the rest? Tell me if I'm wrong. --Tophat headless 01:34, March 4, 2011 (UTC)

Oh! And how's this? --Tophat headless 01:41, March 4, 2011 (UTC)
Anyway, I'll be doing most of my judging tomorrow. But I do believe that's still within the time frame, so don't let anyone take my spot. Thanks. --Tophat headless 13:43, March 4, 2011 (UTC)
Precisely, thats what you will have to do. And ps I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the banner!--ShabiDOO 14:04, March 4, 2011 (UTC)
Great! Thanks. --Tophat headless 20:23, March 4, 2011 (UTC)

edit Pee reviews

Thanks for the review and the comments. I think you may have made a mistake on the forms - don't all sections count as 10 points, so the final score is 24/50 and not 24/40 (or just double the score you gave on those two sections)? On my review, yeah, I'm lousy at spelling, and will correct all of those once the hold is lifted. I liked all the pics, the growling faces and the angel wings and the cheetah, etc., but maybe that's me. Only so many you can find. And I don't photochop, so maybe when the page is free I can ask someone to chop the little boy pic (but for now the page has to be kept as is for judging). I'm a little surprised you changed the name of the article from receiving the title to putting it on the contestant's page. That's a hmmmmm in my hmmmmmmness. Yet overall you've done a great job at organizing and letting people play within the contest. Thanks. And can you tell me who suggested the title. so I can thank them? Thanks again. Aleister 16:46 4-3-'11

I tried to take the brackets out because as I said I was looking for creativity. The brackets should be a recommendation this time around. The last two sections are out of 5 Aleister!!!!!! :) Ill fix that up to make it clear. Thanks again for your wonderful comments. I like your article a lot!!!

--ShabiDOO 18:39, March 4, 2011 (UTC)

Iz think you may be mistaken about the 5, I've checked a few and they seem to be ten, so it adds up to 50. So maybe for it to be a real pee review the 50 is required (but that's easy to fix, you just have to double the scores in those sections). And I'm not complaining about the title, far from it, I would have hated the real title. Bands are not my thing, although I like the music. Aleister 18:50 4-3-'11
If what you are saying is true then we have a problem. The reviews for the competition has to be out of 40. And only 40. In the end its not too imporant what happens as long as its consistant. Ill review mind, but I checked mine and they are supposed to be out of 40 the last two collums out of 5. --ShabiDOO 20:21, March 4, 2011 (UTC)
Aleister, seriously, the pee reviews for the monkey competition are out of 40 not 50. The last two colums are out of 5 each and the topics are also different. I designed a separate tmeplate and said so in the millions of paragraphs that I wrote :) I had to change the points to keep them at 100 (which we went over anyways). Olay, happy monkey!

--ShabiDOO 20:42, March 4, 2011 (UTC)

Maybe I wasn't clear enough above, my baddness. A regular pee review is 50 points. Your contest pee review is 40 points. So 1) How can they be called pee reviews? and 2) How can we count them as real pee reviews for purposes of nomming, etc., and 3) How can the reviewers get their points for writing a pee review? if the numbers are 40 and not 50. Like I said, it is an easy fix if you decide to do so, just double the scores in the last two segments. Just passing thru on my way to the great outdoors. Aleister 23:31 4-3-'11
Aleister, Ive already sent about 5 different messages to the judges and what not and took a long time making all of the tables. If you want, I can convert them to real pee reviews after the competition to 50 points, but I wouldnt double anything, cause thats how I decided to make my 40 points and I cant bother the other judges either anymore. If we do another competition, we can fiddle around with the points that way but for now I have 10 more reviews to do which take 30 minutes each or so ... you know what I mean? --ShabiDOO 00:17, March 5, 2011 (UTC)
Here's an idea. If you want to self nom then submit it to Pee Review because someone has been pissing on everything in sight that Ihe didn't contribute to (except for the things he doesn't know anything about.) Jackofspades (talk) 00:31, March 5, 2011 (UTC)

edit Question

You're seriously just adding up the scores from the 'reviews'? How does that work, exactly? Every reviewer uses a different scale; even if they consider it equally as good, one's 38 might be another's 25, so... what, does the one who gives points more generously simply count for more, or something?

Mon, this is exactly why the other contests use rankings and derive the points from there - it's standardised. How are you hoping to standardise this? Or are you?

Not that it matters terribly to me, since my article sucks, anyhow, but running contests arbitrarily does have a tendency to annoy the people involved. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy 00:44, 5 March 2011

Yes Lyrithya, thats how we are doing it. Cheers. --ShabiDOO 00:47, March 5, 2011 (UTC)
So... a randomised contest, from topics to scorings? Er... okay, I was just leaving. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy 01:15, 5 March 2011
Lyrithya, its not random. And the rules were posted at the beginning. Maybe you can wait and see the results and see how it works? Trial and error? Lets be bold!!! There was a whole lota thought put into it and there were 3 days for people to suggest changes. Many people did and I incorporated all of their ideas into the competition. The judges had NO problem with the format, atleast they didnt say anything after offering them several times to suggest changes. The rules where posted and updated the whole time. I explained my thought about the 5 points for 1st place and 4 points for 2nd place very clearly to you a few days ago and how that system is "equally" arbitrary. If I give 35 points to Al, 32 points to Phil and 31 points to Rick, the only change in overall score is +5 +3 and +1. The scale doesnt matter but the difference in points numerically that each judge gives to the players. And that is agregated out over several judges. Lyrithya, last competition the topics were randomly given out and you didn't complain, you knew full well how it was going to be. The judges are aware that the points given for the review are the overall points awarded. And finally the agregate of the points are supposed to Iron out differences between judges opinions. The diversity of different opinions. Walk out the door if you dont like it, but that its all random is a screaming exageration. Its one thing not to like it, its another thing to vomit your grudges about it after your many oportunities to give your opinion and while we are all participating still and administrating still and judging still a fun and "informal" competition. --ShabiDOO 01:26, March 5, 2011 (UTC)
Wut? 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy 03:25, 5 March 2011
Yes Ive not signed things before, Im sorry for the troubles it caused. Eight months on a website of nut cases, crazy characters, drama etc... and yet only one person manages to ever tick me off. And three times in three days. First, screaming your opinion as if its the bible of good writing on the happy monkey competition page, then this antagonism in your "question about scoring" that you dont "care" about apparently but you obviously do. Wut? And finally you block me while Im trying to administer a competition for not ¿¿¿signing something??? and this, at the beginning of you being an admin? For the love of god Lyrithya, seriously, I just wanted to put on a fun, happy competition, to do a fun and happy thing. Get some people to write a random creative article, get different views, constructive criticism and avoid assholy criticism of which failed in all cases. Was that not clear that it was a fun happy thing? 30 hours of work (and Im not here because my life is boring) and I find it all now very unFun. But like, UN FUN! Sicamore has it right. --ShabiDOO 07:13, March 5, 2011 (UTC)
I didn't realise you took it so seriously. Opinion is nothing more than opinion; I or anyone else can ask whatever, but you are by no means obligated to oblige, and curiosity as well is a powerful force - even when things do not matter terribly, one can still try to understand, no? It has been rather hard to tell what it going on at times, as the entire contest is a large enough endeavour that things have invariably gotten lost throughout, so it seemed easier to inquire directly rather than sort through changing links. I'm not trying to belittle your efforts here, as they have been rather astounding, and I can only apologise if what I have said and done has come across thusly; I was only curious.
As for banning you, that has nothing to do with the contest, nor with my being new to adminning here. So often, you neglect to sign your votes on VFD, sometimes leaving several at a time across multiple sections, some signed, some unsigned... that needs to stop. It's not just a matter of fixing formatting or upping scores; that's relatively simple, but this requires going through the history just to sort out who left the vote, and without the edit summaries that would result from doing one section at a time, it's even harder to find. And of late, it's almost always you, so please, slow down on VFD - vote one at a time, and make sure you really have signed, or it may be easier to just disregard the votes entirely. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy 08:08, 5 March 2011
Okay. I blew it over the top as well (though you can see how going through hundreds of processes and then taking a moment out to see, hey, lets check out VFD quick to fight for an article and, and then, hey someone is picking at the rules post fact, and then hey im about to link the articles and ... oh banned for ... GRR! WTF! So, all I can say is that maybe laying off on one of those things until the competition was over would have kept in the pressure (whichever it was). That being said ... your response was, perfect, and I apologise as well. I am going cut my time here drasticly and stay away from votes for deletion (only because its so time consuming). For sure you will be a good admin. But Lyrithya, in terms of being an admin, well, you write so well, and have a great niche
Lets wrap up this competition and if it was sucessful and if people liked it, come up with a game plan for the Spring edition, there are so many ways to run an informal writing contest :) Monkey hugs while I (hey, whats that smell ... oh man SPIKE NOT AGAIN!!!) --ShabiDOO 02:34, March 8, 2011 (UTC)
Who cares if they liked it? They wrote. It's much more important if people write stuff than if they're happy. They're never happy. And no need to stay away from VFD... just make sure you sign. You do sign your comments elsewhere more consistently. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy 19:47, 8 March 2011

edit Hey

Sorry I didn't do any reviewing on the weekend, I was Fist Fishing. I also do not have enough time to vote for like 12-15 hours, need sleep. Ciao Gen. Fudgem0bile When life gives you lemons, shove them up a bears ass 10:05, March 6, 2011 (UTC)

Its informal and makes everything tense...oh my...oh dear...whoever will win!?!?! So more important to give good reviews and fair results than rush it :) Thanks again for judging. --ShabiDOO 02:38, March 8, 2011 (UTC)
