New stuff at the end, please; I'll make it fit into the section organization after the topic dies down.

Is this about UnNews or UnNews audio? If so, talk to me here.

I don't routinely put a Watch on other people's talk pages. Nothing personal! I endorse keeping a conversation together on a single talk page, but a few days after the conversation ends, I will Unwatch you--the alternative being endless false alarms.

Anything typed here I may post-edit clerically. Typically, I combine parts of dialogues that took place on the other guy's talk page. Some conversations that pertain to the text of an article are moved to that article's talk page.

YouTube vids

Has something happened here that I've missed? Just looked at the last change on Windows 1.0 and noted a borked vid inclusion.                               Puppy's talk page02:23 07 Sep 2013

Was referring more to QVFD than VFD to be honest. Good to see my thoughts were not mine alone.                               Puppy's talk page12:37 08 Sep 2013

(This refers to an article now userspaced.) If VFD was a typo, it is inconsequential. Your opinion that a given article is of low quality is a reliable yardstick. But, for extra credit, get a load of the other pages he created yesterday (which I mentioned at User talk:Simsilikesims). Spıke Ѧ 12:46 8-Sep-13

User Chaoarren has made Randumbo articles about being deleted right after someone puts in ICU or QVFD, or an admin like you deletes them. Chaoarren is one of the users newly registered in this period of new users that ever had activity for more than 1 day (alongside Tyrone McGee, Jaygo, The TwaFFs, BubbaTheAnnoying, Tamerial horror, Theluseichronicler, and several others). I am not new in this period, but rather becoming more active since then, and probably the only user who knew me was you, who welcomed me on my talk page which is now part of the first talk archive. Newman66 Visit my table here! Contributions My works 19:17, September 8, 2013 (UTC)

Newman, you are doing fine contributions but, please, don't talk about new users in such a way. They may be inferior to you considering their experience on Uncyclopedia, but they are trying (maybe, not always and not all) and deserve attention and not rough and early criticism. Sorry for criticizing you, however. Anton (talk) 19:46, September 8, 2013 (UTC)
Wasn't trying to. Newman66 Visit my table here! Contributions My works 20:01, September 8, 2013 (UTC)
Newman, if you are looking for a prize, I am sorry but there are no apples in my refrigerator right now. (There was a pound of grapes, until an hour ago.) We are happy to have you here, but you are not the perfect Uncyclopedian (none of us are), and Anton does note your tendency to scold new users, which I mentioned to you before. For example, your VFD lesson to Ciaoarren doesn't make any point I had not made to him in the preceding list, and it is not clear how he will take putting the template into his talk page. Separately, you have begun work on another "story arc" or set of articles connected to one another and not connected to anything in the real world. I do not know what Galaxian is, but "Grouchian" identifies itself as a spoof of Galaxian. This means no one will look up Grouchian in the encyclopedia. One has to guess your punch line in order to find your joke. So if the article itself succeeds in being funny, we will have to stand on our head to find a way for anyone to see it. Spıke Ѧ 20:31 8-Sep-13
Galaxian is an old video game from 1970, which is a real game. So I made a spoof of Galaxian because the tilted Galaxian enemies look like Oscar the Grouch's head tilted. Newman66 Visit my table here! Contributions My works 20:48, September 8, 2013 (UTC)
You are missing the point. Spıke Ѧ 20:58 8-Sep-13

IPod Car and others

This article attracted my attention when GGGgGGGgrowlMan made an edit to it. At one point I decided that it was really bad and placed it on VFD. However, later I realized that it is a good parody of car advertisements but does not have a good structure with all these images that destroy the text and distract the reader. So, I took over it and if you are interested in what I did, please, take a look. You don't have to visit history of the page, only the current version.

And, finally, I know it is not very encyclopedic but, if you visit this page, would you, please, tell me if the article is nominationable or not? Anton (talk) 18:45, August 31, 2013 (UTC)

Spike, in addition to this, do you think my rewrites of Googolplexian and HowTo:Break and Enter are fine? Sorry to distract you from your work. Anton (talk) 11:00, September 3, 2013 (UTC)

You probably did not notice this section in the middle of your talkpage, so I moved it here, but you can remove it, if you want. Sorry for being so persistent with distracting you. Anton (talk) 19:44, September 8, 2013 (UTC)

I did notice, then went on to neglect it. Moving a section to the bottom of my talk page is a valid way to call it to my attention again. So, you want three free Pee Reviews? (A fourth, counting a comment of yours on VFD?) As the Red Sox have just lost and the Patriots have just won, I'll look at them now. Spıke Ѧ 20:58 8-Sep-13

In the conversation, we were discussing the use of {{USERNAME}} and you changed the discussion to this. I don't see the connection, unless you are asking me if I think it, too, "pranks" the user. It is not a prank; perhaps it is too serious--rather than delivering laughs from the reader, it is asking something of him. Indeed I don't like an article where the reader types in a concept and we see how that concept looks in Anton's mind, a game of word-association played out with pictures. And I don't see the point being made, unless it is that Soviet Russia was essentially Orwell's government manipulating the language. Not encyclopedia-ish, and the comedy went over my head. Spıke Ѧ 20:58 8-Sep-13

As I complain to Newman below, this is a case where the reader has to guess that you invented a concept to see what you did. The googol (1 followed by 100 zeros) and the googol plex (1 followed by one googol zeros) are real things. What we have now at Googol is a disambiguation page, in the style of Google, that has no destination except Google. We have nothing at Googol plex nor Googolplex. So, first of all, please rename it to something real. Now, your Googleplexian--no, it is not one Armenian followed by some number of zeros, but the thing a googol was, and that googolplex took to the second degree, taken to the third degree. Please abandon the effort to take it to an unprecedented degree (that no one is going to look up) and just write about the second degree that people might look up.

Detailed comments:

  • The humor is dry and assumes familiarity with mathematical English, such as the "degree" of a number.
  • No human can picture it, so it doesn't exist? Not true (I can't picture air either) and not funny (to me). Wave-of-the-hand declarations like this don't amuse me unless they are either deviously clever or outrageously sloppy.
  • In the paragraph on Kasner/Newman, the use of the perfect tense is wrong in an encyclopedia. In 1940, they invented it. In 1941 and every subsequent year, they had invented it.
  • What "mathematicians want you to do" led my mind to, "What the big banks don't want you to know!!!!" A more playful direction for this might be what mathematicians used to do (being so inept).
  • The separate page that describes writing down the number is clever--figure out how to go there without referencing yourself.
  • The article ends in lists. It is better than Anon listcruft, but Anon will surely see it and add items that aren't as good. Spıke Ѧ 20:58 8-Sep-13
HowTo:Break and Enter

I already gave my opinion that this was vastly improved and you earned the Save. It is a competent article, but doesn't go far beyond portraying Breaking and Entering as an ordinary leisure pastime. It would not embarrass the main page nor misrepresent Uncyclopedia; I might vote For but would probably abstain as I usually do on HowTo's. The English is not quite perfect. Spıke Ѧ 21:16 8-Sep-13

Thank you, I found many areas of improvement for these pages! Just a few comments:
  1. Minitrue has a sub-page and a link to it is in the caption of the second image. But yes, as you have not noticed it and many other readers probably won't, I will do something about it.
  2. I was not quite sure that "Googolplexian" as a number existed but I found a bad and already existing article and thought I would rewrite it. But I will change it and move it to Googolplex. Thank you again! Anton (talk) 07:29, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

Wikia changed something; PuppyOnTheRadio can't edit

I'm slightly stuffed and can't edit properly at the moment due to Wikia issue. Just sent the following to Wikia:

I'm unsure why this has happened, but somewhere in the last 24 hours the mobile view of the site has changed so that I am unable to switch to the full site view when accessing via an iPhone on Uncyc. I'm still able to get to full site view on Community, but the full site link from Uncyc keeps reloading back as mobile view. I tried to go to Special:Contact or Special:ContactWikia when I realised the issue while at Uncyc, but it then kept coming back with search results, rather than going to the page I entered. (Had to go to community central to enter this message.)

The upshot means I'll be able to edit even less than usual until the site gets fixed. User:PuppyOnTheRadio 20:04, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

Reverend, what you don't realize is that you wouldn't understand real-world spoken Spanish even were you to study it. I heard and understood a little spoken Spanish last night, as adjacent to the semi-pro football game for which I had driven into the city, there was a softball doubleheader at the adjacent park where the announcing was in Spanish. I might have gone, just for the flavor of it. Perhaps if it had been daytime. Spıke Ѧ 14:03 15-Sep-13

Madclaw's ban

Madclaw was extremely rude towards you and basically reverted your edit to his sig by adding the code to his preferences, but as Puppy has pointed out, many users had links to external websites if they were more active there, and Madclaw was not promoting Darthpedia but giving a link to his user page there... And also, he was using that signature file for several months now and you suddenly "vandalised" (as he said) it without even telling him. Finally, he only disobeyed you twice: when adding the code into his preference and when posting a message on Romartus's talk page (which was not connected to the issue with external sites). So he has a minor excuse. Maybe a six-month ban is too long? Anton (talk) 12:49, September 21, 2013 (UTC)

User:SPIKE/Wikia site visit

Thanks for the article. Very good. I do appreciate Romartus and Simsie's efforts to meet with wikia to improve Uncyclopedia. However I was wondering whether as a community we could discuss some points made at this meeting (presuming that the general gist of them are serious and not just jokes for the UnSignpost article) on a forum. I'm not sure what our rights are exactly in this corporation as writers but I believe we should be entitled to give some feedback to it.

In particular I worry that the "money laundering" may result in serious posters on this site asking for donations or worse still advertisments on the site (which may or may not exist already but do not appear on my computer). It would also be nice to know whether Uncyclopedia is actually still popular and not just a meme from 2005-2008 that no one looks at anymore and if so how to make it popular again.

I posted this here instead of straight on a forum in case you want to complain about it first and tell me that our opinions aren't needed or something. Thanks. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 16:20, September 23, 2013 (UTC)

Romartus intended to create a Forum. A couple days ago, I reminded him that he had not yet done so, while youse were choking for content for a new issue of the UnSignpost, and I got permission to pull together such information as I had been given.
We all welcome input on the operation of the site and you are free to open a Forum, if Romartus doesn't do so, to discuss the site visit. However, the first step would be to provide discussion fodder, and it will kill two birds with one stone if you do this via the UnSignpost.
Uncyclopedians are essentially somewhere between "users" and "squatters," providing content it is assumed we cannot make real money selling. Admins are the same except with formal duties. Our only absolute "right" when using someone else's servers is to boycott and set up shop somewhere else; about which, see the 2013 Retrospective.
It is a joke based on real discussions that Wikia is looking to new inducements to contributors to the site. When the inducements materialize, if they lead to begging, that problem will be Wikia's to manage. They could lead to use of the site to advertise other sites, but that already happens and we police and revert it. This is nothing that requires silence/censorship as a precaution.
Ads already appear--mostly, cross-selling of other Wikia sites, the last time I tested it--but registered Uncyclopedians can easily opt out of seeing them. Spıke Ѧ 16:32 23-Sep-13
Thanks for info but I think perhaps a forum would be wise after the release of the UnSignpost. The terms displayed when you edit any article here disclose that you irrevocably make the submission public and available for any noncommercial use provided the user acknowledges your contribution. Ironically, disclosing your real name on this page makes it available to search engines. Historical versions of articles do not come up in Google, though they are available to anyone who queries it here, and various Internet sites and mirrors cache our material. You are of course entitled to remove your name from this article, though I do not see the name you gave is in the article. You are not entitled to blank the page, as you are not the only contributor. Real names

Spike, I am afraid I am taking a lot of time of yours asking all these questions but your answers do help. Could you, please, clarify the rule about not telling your real name here? I always wanted to ask this question and could not remember to do so. I know about the vanity policies but what is wrong with putting your name as another signature? Unless there is a chance of cyberbullying a real-life enemy... Anton (talk) 19:00, September 26, 2013 (UTC)

There is no policy against it, but no one ever does it; probably a reaction to this environment in which every utterance, tantrum, cheap shot, etc. is preserved forever. Spıke Ѧ 19:03 26-Sep-13
PS--No, that is an overstatement; there were several Uncyclopedians who used their real names. Spıke Ѧ 19:07 26-Sep-13

Question bout banning or bollocking

Just curious. Whats the difference between banning and bollocking(blocking)? Jirachi8932 20:35, September 27, 2013 (UTC)

A ban and a block are the same thing. They prevent the Uncyclopedian and the IP address from editing articles. A bollocking is a British term having to do with the bollocks, that is, testicles. Spıke Ѧ 21:12 27-Sep-13
