There were a spate of these, a couple weeks ago, but they didn't start "New user" but "test account" or some such. They seemed to cite Central European Time. I have never seen these users actually do anything. Spıke Ѧ 18:05 22-Jan-13

Possible spammer. I will block the IP address. Thanks. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 18:13, January 22, 2013 (UTC)

Again, I don't think there has been actual spam. If I had to guess, it is a kid in a computer class with a test program (or a prototype virus) attempting automated account registration. A block is appropriate; if you can check to see if this IP has created other accounts, it will solve the other riddle. Cheers. Spıke Ѧ 18:24 22-Jan-13

edit Lifting of UnNews stories

There is something on TKF's page from Mnbzz. Our UnNews stories are being lifted from here to the other site without notification or the permission of the author. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 18:27, January 22, 2013 (UTC)

I saw that. Legally, under CC-BY, our stories are not "ours" and can be copied for any non-commercial use. (For proof that the resulting use is non-commercial, I assume we take the word of Fork management, including the one who seems to have tapped into Wikia's traffic flow for third-party gain.) It is more annoying, as with Hack writer, when the Fork does not lift our stories until our VFH finishes vetting them. The Mother Ship cannot survive by having a monopoly on our best content, as we agree it will be given away before we write it. We survive because Wikia is well-capitalized, whereas the Fork is just another American business racing toward the end of its seed funding with nothing but certainty that the world will instantly see its inventory of free stuff as worth paying for. They don't need permission, or even notification, but rather, proper attribution. I personally don't even care that much that they took it. Rather, I just find it funny that the site containing "the community" needs to steal articles from "empty" evil-Wikia site. --Mn-z 18:56, January 22, 2013 (UTC)
Your gloating, IT STINGS! -- Kip > Talk Works Puzzle Potato Dry Brush CUN Icons-flag-us 19:03, Jan. 22, 2013
Since you here Kip, I will ask you this question. Would you be happy if some programme decides pull your articles into another website without attribution or indeed consent. A long time ago when I didn't understand how wikis worked, I saw an article by Todd Lyons on Uncyclopedia. I had supplied him with some extra lines and he had accepted it. He then re-posted the same story to Illogicopedia - but without my additions. I thought his work had been stolen but he explained he had put it on that site but had removed my extra sections. That was then how I understood how this wiki thing worked. But there is also a matter of good faith and telling writers 'we want you to write for our site but if your stuff is no good, we'll just take what ever SPIKE or myself has written on theirs with this bot. All the work I have done before the split is now at the Fork - and I accept that. But anything created here is my decision about where I want to put it next. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 19:35, January 22, 2013 (UTC)
Obvious sexual innuendo aside, I agree with your sentiment. Although TKF is apparently trying to remedy the authorship issue by giving proper attributions on the talk pages. Still, my beef is the principle of taking things from the Wikia version the begin with. It makes us at Free Uncyclopedia (if you will) look petty and lazy. -- Kip > Talk Works Puzzle Potato Dry Brush CUN Icons-flag-us 19:47, Jan. 22, 2013
I disagree with Romartus's interpretation. Where there is no ownership, there is no control. You are entitled to attribution--by your name remaining in the Change History--but not to make demands on them, such as that they don't change your stuff or even not pervert your creative goal in writing it. Articles begun tomorrow are subject to the same thing. Our work is worth every penny we agreed not to demand when we submitted the stuff. And I can view it with a personal copy of Mozilla, on which I rip out the code for the Juice Bar or whatever it's called, and recompile it and give you a copy. The interesting question is still: Can you sustain a website around content of no commercial value? I claim that Wikia can, and Acme Wiki cannot. Spıke Ѧ 19:53 22-Jan-13
I would agree with Spike, the issue isn't article control, which we surrender by the Creative Common license, but proper attribution. It seems like TKF is adding attribution (of sorts) to articles. I'm not sure if a talk page comment would satisfy the attribution requirements, but I don't know off hand. --Mn-z 20:03, January 22, 2013 (UTC)
By the way, a wiki that provided the added-value of ensuring that all your reads were good reads (say, Acme Wiki after Mega Forest Fire Week '13) still doesn't survive, as it doesn't gain readers faster than it loses authors. Spıke Ѧ 20:05 22-Jan-13
I do understand that an article submitted to this Wikia hosted site cannot be claimed with 'author's rights'. That is why I gave you Todd Lyons as an example. He didn't have to remove my material to put his story elsewhere, but he did nevertheless. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 20:14, January 22, 2013 (UTC)
Attribution is important, of course, and the site probably understands that. It seems most of the sites articles are all being written and nommed by Sir Peesalot. I've been moving all my UnNews pages there, and will do so with pages too, but am writing them and polishing them and putting them here first (since I'm doing most of the writing here, both because it feels good here, the energy has picked up again and quite a few of the good users are here, and because of the in-page link fixture). On that topic, does anyone know when we lost the in-page File feature, where you could schroll down the pics and little images of them would show up so you could choose which one you wanted? I always used that, and now it's gone (is it because each of the files has been renamed "Image - Cow tipping.jpg" in that format and not in the old "File:Jesus stubbing his toe.PNEG" format? Thanks. Aleister 20:19 22-1-'13
There has been so much strange activity on this site of late...I don't know is the answer. Ask a 'techie'. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 20:30, January 22, 2013 (UTC)
With the above, I was only talking about the ownership rights under CC-BY as I understand them. Romartus, you might be talking about additional restrictions imposed by Wikia against a community member misusing the work of another community member, about which I know nothing. User names are common throughout Wikia (except here) and that is why a History entry is sufficient attribution, something that is not true from us to the Fork, which is not bound to respect our usernames, hence the talk-page text. Spıke Ѧ 20:58 22-Jan-13

UPDATE: The knuckleheads on IRC got off the topic of stripper pole exercising long enough for me to bring it up, prompting RAHB to take action by infinibanning TheBorrower bot and deleting the exported UnNews articles. Seems fair. My talk page attribution was a bit of a stopgap. I hate deleting quality content anywhere, and there's definitely been things sporked from external blogs and such in the past (when attribution was given and it wasn't taken from, say, a commercial joint like the Onion), but it definitely would have been irky if that was allowed to keep going. Seriously, let's just keep these two places separate. --Littleboyonly TKFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK Oldmanonly 21:04, January 22, 2013 (UTC)

Romartus, I worked with this author yesterday on the development of the UnNews. I don't know where he got the concept, but it is based on actual news in the British press, we usually welcome multiple articles on a single topic, and I think that most of his material is original. It was originally not an UnNews at all but an addition to Tesco which I saw come in. Please review User talk:Heenan73. Spıke Ѧ 21:22 22-Jan-13
Separately, Heenan73, there is no "appropriate action" because, as we have been discussing on this page, no one owns anything. This website is currently undergoing an exodus of some of its authors to a parallel site and is unusually suspicious about copying content. Spıke Ѧ 21:23 22-Jan-13

edit talk VFS

I noticed you have removed a discussion between Mnbvcxz and myself, from what I have read no one has "inflamed" me and you have in fact removed a perfectly normal discussion about policy and wiki coding. Removing civil interactions between users strikes me as a bit odd especially when done by an administrator. It would behoove you to put the discussion back. Thank you in advance and have a nice day User:Madclaw/sig 16:56, January 24, 2013 (UTC)

In Romartus's defense, our discussion had very little to do with VFS. Also, Romartus did contradict some of what I said about linking to other wikis in sigs. Spike said no, I said yes, Romartus said maybe. I remember sigs that linked to other wikis in the past, but I'm not up do date on Wikia's current policies, so I could be wrong. --Mn-z 17:02, January 24, 2013 (UTC)

I'll have to check out the words and sing that one to "Gilligan's Island". Why not a page where those two songs and a few others are written, pictured (the Lincoln is a classic, nomnomnom), and then a good singer can record all the songs on the page, like a mini-album. Romartus, thanks for the "man marries brown rice" feature. I wouldn't have nommed it if I didn't think it was feature-worthy, and what made it that is the youtube (to keep with the theme) of Caruso singing (the caption "Tommy Lee Caruso sings for his supper on their wedding night" had me laughing so hard at the time that I could hardly type the words). There's a Joan Baez song about hearing a recording of Caruso in his prime, and what it did for her. I don't know if the song I have on his page is from his prime years. I have an album of his, but no record player at the moment - must get one of those if Tom Edison is still cranking them out. Thanks again! Aleister 11:53 25-1-'13
I can sing it. Assuming your dog has recovered from last time.                               Puppy's talk page12:23 25 Jan
Is that a "yes" for an article? I'll add a song to it if you guys don't mind, don't know which one though. We could do it in sections, with a fake history paragraph before each set of lyrics (Romartus could write a great history paragraph describing Lincoln at Gettysburg). Hmmmmmmm. Aleister 12:27 25-1-'13
Pure coincidence but I was playing with a (very rough) song idea in the spambox earlier. And I had a vague idea for an article “translating” hip hop songs into English by using literal meaning (starting with “gold digger”). We should also review the way the images are censored. What had been done previously seemed to be a bit of overkill IMO. If it's about women getting the vote it could be very long. I enlarged to pic to read it, and never knew that until the 1890s only Wyoming - in the whole world - gave women the vote! And not much better for the next 20 years. New Zealand was alone as a nation for a long time in letting women vote. Man, we treated them like dogs. Aleister 23:38 25-1-'13
Parliamentary reform had to do with voting rights in the United Kingdom. Britain pre-1832 constituency sizes were far from consistent. The “Australian Labor Party” was created from a fork of the “Labour Party”. The original party now no longer exists in any really meaningful way. Ha of course. Australia day! of the best books I read about Australia was 'The Fatal Shore' by the late Robert Hughes. I recall reading the story about how a convict escaped from a prison dressed as a giant kangaroo. He got caught but I laughed out loud on a train when I saw that! A bit like that programme about the guy in the dog costume who is only visible in that form to his 'owner'. To everyone else, he is just a dumb dog. Very clever concept! --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 13:00, January 26, 2013 (UTC)
Speaking of the ALP and Aussie books there's a good series by Shane Maloney about an ALP staffer. Starts with “Stiffs” which was later made into a movie starting the guy who was in that other movie, otherwise known as David Wenham, or the hunchbacked guy from 300. It's a good read, but also odd for me to read it as he mentions a whole bunch of places from my childhood and early 20's in it.                               Puppy's talk page01:11 26 Jan

edit What in hell?

Thanks for protecting The Onion. That particular page-blanker had a ton of IP addresses up his sleeve.

Continental philosophy as of last 15-Jun contains a rhetorical invitation, "(Someone with more knowledge than "lawl Judtih Butlerz hard to reed", please help me here)." Anarchos today seems to have accepted the invitation and has written six pointy-headed paragraphs which might be ridiculing intellectualism through pseudo-intellectualism and irony, but are way too dense to be funny. My inclination is to revert but wanted a second opinion on whether this stuff could possibly appeal to anyone.

Getting denser, Jinet Jiqet and Tetrageist are having a deep discussion of atheism at User:Tetrageist. It might have started as a proposal for a joint writing project, but at this point, it at least reflects a serious misunderstanding of which website they are on.

I am happy to dump this all in your lap! Spıke Ѧ 23:43 27-Jan-13

edit Your edit summary on MediaWiki:Sidebar

The way you phrased it may make it sound like Wikia forced the issue. I the community brought the issue up, and I don't think Wikia is forcing the matter. While Wikia doesn't want links to the other wiki, the main issue was the lack of reciprocity in the links. I.e. the links don't link back here and, as the wikis diverge with time, they will reference content that isn't even here. The way you phrased the edit might cause a "ZOMG WIKIA IZ CONTROLING EVERTHINGZ!" panic among certain segments of uncyclopedia.

And on a related note, I think the e-store link is dead. --Mn-z 20:03, January 29, 2013 (UTC)

The issue of removing those links was a matter of when and not why Mnz. This now means this site can develop its own links to Facebook or Twitter accounts that point to this website's content. I haven't checked the e-store link so you're probably right. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 21:33, January 29, 2013 (UTC)
Seconded. I don't see the text of a Change Summary as major or as an authoritative document (nor see any way to edit it!) but the desire that our Sidebar not divert clicks or cash to the Fork is not just Wikia's request but mine too. Puppy also noticed it, and came to me with a "What do you make of this?!" Spıke Ѧ 22:06 29-Jan-13
On separate issues:
 • Kremdog (6 total edits) has "reposted" Gun control in the U.S. and you have discussed it with him. Reposted from where? the Fork I assume, as he has asked Frosty about getting history information for it. If it is reposted from the mirror, someone had better have a plan to improve it or understand why it was deleted.
 • Anon this noon increased the size of Infinity by 200 Kb, a sum I am not willing to count against my monthly byte quota to view. I'd guess this is vandalism. Spıke Ѧ 22:12 29-Jan-13
I removed that chunk of text and reverted the Infinity edit. Don't know where Kremdog got the article so perhaps Frosty could answer that question. I added an image but otherwise, I haven't gone through it. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 22:44, January 29, 2013 (UTC)
 • E-store is dead. The fork have created a new store that they are hosting somewhere over that direction.

edit You may appreciate this...

There's been a discussion on my talk page at FreeUncy after Sir Peesalot asked me if I was a boy or a girl, and I answered him honestly (maybe). Then even though I tried to go on to give him advice, it got weirder as more people joined in, and now I don't know myself if I'm a boy or a girl. So confused. The section is near the bottom of my FreeUncy talk page at dammit, are you a girl or a boy?. I hope the link works, if not, my name there is just "Aleister" Aleister or... 1:15 30-1-'13 (it works kind of but took my machine a long time to load)

Glad to see there's a hive of in depth activity over there. But then some people still think Sims is a guy - despite the signature which strongly suggests otherwise. Perhaps it is a net thing. The more you say you are one thing/gender, the more people believe you are hiding something. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 06:45, January 30, 2013 (UTC) mentioned two four letter words that are guaranteed to raise the hackles in certain quarters. edit The Big O

Repeating a request I first made of Puppy, who seems to have left the office--Would you care to moderate a creative dispute I am having with new user Steamslinger regarding The Big O? Race condition! Puppy did see my request, read the material and came to the opposite conclusion, and has detailed editing advice for the new guy. I won't add anything. Spıke Ѧ 22:40 30-Jan-13

Similar conclusion. He's tried to extend the joke. Problem is that it still hasn't worked. I'm letting it stay so he has a chance to improve rather than just keep adding into it. My proviso was though that he has a few days before I bulldoze it and recreate it. I also know nothing about the series, but what he has added has the potential to be funny if done another way.                               Puppy's talk page10:44 30 Jan

New user ThePartTimeGroucho is now 3-for-3 in getting his edits reverted by me. On two of the three, I have explained on his talk page. <div style="text-align:center;"><span style="font-size:120%;">VFH status:</span><br />VFHhealth votes per article • Goal: 15</div>

From VFH. It's charting our progress towards lukewarm at present. We can incorporate VFH status: VFHhealth votes per article. somewhere else if we really need to keep track, but that (now unrealistic) goal and the progress bar are somewhat useless and makes us look stupid.                               Puppy's talk page01:46 31 Jan

edit VFH

I've done work on the "Guy who invented soap" vhf and added a good pic. So if you have a minute grab another look. Thanks. As for VFH, I think we're close to the point where a second-way to feature a page could be thought about. My idea of a "panel" of you, Spike, and Chief - all of you hard votes on vfh - to either vote a page a feature or to show the author weak points (as you did with the Soap page) so they could fix them, would serve as another gateway for pages. It would peer review them. That would leave two routes to feature, the peer review panel of discerning voters and the minumum number of votes. I'd prefer the peer review route myself, although it would have to be even selective in pages it chooses to discuss. Aleister 14:27 3-2-'13

User Kaint@yo a month ago, presumably from the American right-wing, hit a lot of subjects, such as al-Obama, al-Gore, and al-Jazeera. Unfortunately, he came to the conclusion that a good way to make a pun is to create an article with a name that no one will ever type. The two articles are not exact copies, as he has transliterated "Alabama" to "Al Obama" throughout. However, in my opinion, no one cares. Huff it and don't leave a redirect. Spıke Ѧ 18:06 3-Feb-13

edit User:CartoonistHenning

Apparently, his page hard redirects to Free Uncyclopedia. The code nl:en:<pagename> apparently redirects to free Uncyclopedia. The code, nl:<pagename> redirects to, the Dutch Uncyclopedia. Interestingly, on Free Uncyclopedia, the code :it:en:<pagename> will redirect back here.

Here is how I think it works. nl:<pagename> redirects to the Dutch Uncyclopedia, the code nl:en:<pagename> re-redirects to Dutch Uncyclopedia's English link, which is Free Uncyclopedia. Since the Italian uncyclo still links to wikia site, such code would move the reader back here.

My point is that userpages should not hard redirect off the wiki. In fact, I might go so far as to say nothing should ever hard redirect of the wiki. --Mn-z 18:12, February 3, 2013 (UTC)

Indeed; he is using Wikia's resources to divert traffic away from Wikia. The definition of Uncyclopedia on foreign wikis, changed by an inoccuous message to a friend, like the WP:Uncyclopedia entry where Aimsplode described us as a "deprecated....sandbox," is just one more battlefield to portray the Fork as the real Uncyclopedia. They can own a copy of the database but they do not have the legal right to the term. Spıke Ѧ 18:19 3-Feb-13

edit King Rich

Ah, you beat me, I came her to write the UnNews. The angle I was going to use, if you'd like to dd it, was that the skeleton of Richard was demanding the skeleton of a horse. "A skeleton of a horse, a skeleton of a horse, my kingdom (a parking lot in Leicester) for a skeleton of a horse". I posted the story on Above Top Secret, apparantly the first there. Leverage hasn't gotten onto it yet, but I expect a masterpiece from that dodger. Aleister 12:28 4-1-'13

I was watching it on the computer (it was a live feed on BBC 24). Feel free to do your own take! --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 12:38, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
There's a tv show tonight. This is a pretty big deal, and Al Pacino is salivating somewhere, wanting the skull for his very own. No, but thanks, one story is enough. Maybe tomorrow I'll write up the horse skeleton one as a follow-up, but yours deserves the showcase. The pic is great, and should be in every textbook. If I knew how to load a pic onto my computer and transfer it I'd move it to my thread at Above Top Secret, but they would just remove it because of the suspicious cig in the King's mouth. Al 12:44

Maybe I should make that a New Year's goal for 2014 and start studying. The tv show tonight on Richard is on Channel 4, about a King in a parking lot or something. lol: "A handicapped parking space, a handicapped parking space, my below-ground lot for a handicapped parking space." Al 13:35
Do you mean uploading or photoshopping? BTW, I like the Al Pacino angle. If I recall he played Richard III like a mafia boss but wasn't that him 'trying to find the role' rather than actually playing Richard III? Trying to recall info than going for a wiki click. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 14:30, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
Pacino loves Shakespeare's Richard. He used his personal money to finance his own movie "Looking for Richard" which is very good, and if you haven't seen it, there you go. It's more of a movie and documentary. There is also a Richard III Society, who must be very happy today. The talk on the thread is about if RIII will have a state funeral, where he should be buried, nad one woman who is a racist talking about how Leicester is now Asian and no longer English. We live and learn. Aleister 18:59 4-2-'13

edit "Test, just a test"

Anon (not always at the same IP) seems anxious to delete the contents of User:Twinkleblue43/guestbook. edit MTTB and Talk:Pizza Planet

I agree that his actions are in good faith. And the talk page is effectively an attempt and doing another version of the same article - and it's pathetic. So I've restored the page because of the concept of "don't blank", but added to VFD on the concept of "deleteable garbage", but there's no way I'd want to blank someone for what I assume is good willed ignorance rather than maliciousness or vandalism. I ummed and aahed over whether QVFD was more suitable but because it has been around for so long - and we've all missed seeing it for so long - I figured by our deletion policy this was the best way to go. edit Soap guy

Thanks for your vote on the soap guy page. Because of your initial abstain I polished, added content, and added a pic and caption. So with three votes it should be ready for featuring! (it had six at the fork last time I checked, going for the gold, ah, soap). What do you think of my idea of you, Spike, Chief, and Puppy acting as judges for features if we don't get enough votes? It'd be a way to offer suggestions without having to do a complete pee review, and would make everyone do some polishing, etc., which is what has been lacking with the feature votes. Acting on your prodding from a couple weeks ago, I adapted your welcome message to create User:SPIKE/Welcome. I am not saying you should adopt my changes, but the section on "How to post to talk pages" I based on your repeated advice to newbies to do stuff no one ever told them to do in the first place. These are scoldings for not imitating adequately!

Separately, at present I am copying and pasting on each occurrence. I dabbled with {{subst: but found it inserted a red-link instead of the file, at least in Preview. At any rate, I'm not hitting everyone, as you and Simsie are, but only guys who have made edits, and typically appending a comment on their edits. Spıke Ѧ 14:44 8-Feb-13

edit History of the world. Again.

I re-read the rewrite, and your review. There are two major elements missing from that article that are really letting it down. The first is Asian history, which I deliberately glossed over due to ignorance - hard to make funny of something I know so little about. The second is history from Industrial Revolution onwards, which does read as being written hastily. The latter part I think I can do myself, as while I'm no history buff there's enough that has happened over the past couple of centuries I do know about that I can write something for. The depression and the World Wars are a definite inclusion, and I'd like to include the birth of the Information Age from Bletchley Park to Arpanet to Tim Berners-Lee. I was trying to avoid Hitler - we have too much on him already on site - but in this context it's fitting.

The problem is that'll still leave a gap on Asian history. Your knowledge on Asian history outstrips me by a mile. How do you feel about collaborating on it to fill in those gaps? If not, I can leave that part as is. The lack of detail in that article makes a decent point about how the English speaking world - in general - ignore Asian history. I might just have to make that point somewhat clearer.                               Puppy's talk page06:24 10 Feb

Hi Pup. Regards Asian history, you have the two great hubs of India and China, with Japan, indochina, the Mongol Empire, Timurlane, expansion of Russia eastwards, The rival empires of the Ottomans and Persia (become a Shiite state in the 16th century) etc. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 09:11, February 10, 2013 (UTC)

edit Reading, England

We have a live one on the line, with a Southampton IP (but a username too), whom I've convinced to start the above article. I'll contribute my thoughts based on pub-crawling over a seven-year period (and grammar), and perhaps you have more to add about Berkshire history. Spıke Ѧ 10:38 10-Feb-13

I thought a construction tag means "Go away" and let the author do what he does for a week. If I just started writing here, I think my Phil Ochs page was my first, and Spike was hovering over me with suggestions and rewrites and throwing widgets into my whatids, I wouldn't have stayed. Now Spike and I are being well paid by Wikia to hang around, and we're driving Hummers that can barrel though snowdrifts the size of houses, so my point is if we all start editing a new page of a first time user we can send him to the fork earlier than he would have gotten there anyway, and he won't get paid as much. Aleister 10:45 10-2-'13

That is because you are a temperamental artist. I think this one is a schoolgirl. Spıke Ѧ 11:04 10-Feb-13

I have noticed that the pages of the active users here have become the informal forums! Regards new users, I think perhaps adding a WIP tag is perhaps 'kinder' than an ICU. Certainly for new pages, we can be a bit more strict if an IP starts to adding junk to an article. Since no one has any idea if a new user will turn out to be a Sog1970 or a Gomphog, then I would lean towards leniency to start with. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 11:38, February 10, 2013 (UTC)

This one has Construction, applied by the article's creator, not by any unkind quality Nazi imposing a deadline. So "leniency" is not an issue, though the author's right to be alone with the creation might be. I asked Magicrainbowunicorn to create this, and I'm asking Romartus to flesh out the paragraph on the 8th Century so that it goes somewhere. Spıke Ѧ 11:50 10-Feb-13

I agree with Al. Let it play out. If we jump down the throat of every newcomer then we lose every newcomer we're likely to have. Admittedly Pawn shop and Care Bear were crap articles, but if I was read the riot act on starting to fiddle with them I probably wouldn't have hung around. As long as it's not UN:CM or UN:CB, it can wait out the construction tag.                               Puppy's talk page12:03 10 Feb
Puppy barks wisdom. I thought all construction tage are put on by the creator (praise His name) (And the morning and the evening were the First day, and He saw that it was good, and He placeth a construction tag on His creation). Al minutes later

It looks as though, now that we have the wiki all to ourselves, everyone wants to set policy. Instead, I went to the talk page to ask what the author prefers. Spıke Ѧ 12:18 10-Feb-13

If I set policy you'd find yourself in a heaven on earth. On this one though, the construction tag itself sets the policy, with words like "Go away". Of course when you ask a new user what they'd prefer they will probably give in to the established user, as I gave in to Puppy and RAHB when I arrived and had to do unspeakable acts before I could edit (later I found out I was taken in by the gang of two). Maybe in honor of this series of posts I'll continue to edit "Phil Ochs". Aleister 12:26 that day
I've always tried to establish policy. Just never got around to actually writing it down.                               Puppy's talk page12:29 10 Feb
Then again, in this case it seems to be working out well, with three editors jumping in, and maybe the noob will be honored to be included in a feature on his first outing, if it gets the required three votes. Al setting policy on how many coffee breaks we get

edit Cumbria

Could I kick it to you on the basis of geography to review Anon's contributions to Cumbria? He contributes some interesting possible future directions, but has bad grammar, bad markup, daydreaming-in-place-of-humor, dialect-in-place-of-humor, and even nonsense numbers. Can you weave him in, or would you just revert him? Spıke Ѧ 18:52 10-Feb-13

Thanks for that. In other news today, we had a cameo appearance from VegaDark, apparently a Wikia firefighter who reverted one of those blankers who leaves high praise in place of an entire...user archive. We had Lesbian Wolf, whose first edit was to upload JavaScript that looked like an app to do automated random reverts; permabanned by me. Thanks for the update. I took time away from the site to read the 'Lincoln' book, Team of Rivals. A little bit heavy to start with as it talks not just about Lincoln but Seward, Chase, Bates in quite obsessive detail but now getting into the story. Hence, my limited attendance this weekend. It does contain the line from Mrs Lincoln when she notices her husband 'isn't very gay at the moment' (I paraphrase). Ha! The changes in a word usage!! There's a song that used to be taught to school kids here that goes:
Kookaburra sits in the old guntree
Merry, merry king of the bush is he
Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh
Gay your life must be
I don't think they teach it any more.                               Puppy's talk page09:55 11 Feb

An archetypal grumbly conservative (no one we know) lamenting that "liberal" in the U.S. has lost its association with liberty. I forgot to mention: Your protege Dannyboy was in with a change, and noted same on his talk page--a copy of a joke told elsewhere, and Snippy got to it first. Didn't the template and the pic of Oscar win the vote, and Puppy closed the vote? So I thought that was chosen as the new warning label. MrN has stupid centered on his family crest, but he can't read it. If stupid were a colour it'd be named MrN. Every time stupid looks in the mirror, MrN is staring back (and he can't understand the concept of mirrors, and is surprised each time). When people were looking for stupid in the woods, MrN came out from behind a tree. When a UFO wants to find the stupidest man on earth, MrN will be waving at them to "Land right here!". Eating cake with pickles is MrN's favorite meal. But I digress... the warning label, yeah, serious, didn't the template win? Aleister 2:48 15-2-'13
What Al said - about the warning template, not MrN - but I'd add the vote was close. The vote about the warning template - the vote on MrN hasn't closed yet.                               Puppy's talk page03:04 15 Feb

edit I hate reading history

I'm just reading up on WWI and WWII (including the Sino-Japanese war) because of you. I've also decided Charles á Court Repington is responsible for both of them. He supported bolstering UK troops prior to 1914 (as well as being a soldier himself) and first coined the term “First World War” in 1918, stating “The history of the world is the history of war.” Given that's what it was being called, no wonder we insisted on a sequel.

Also noticed Kaiser Bill was high command of UK forces at the advent of the war, as was Hirohito 20 odd years later. Then Saddam Hussein was armed and trained by the US, (as was Iran at the same time), and so was Osama Bin Laden. We have a tendency to create our own enemies.

And then we have Bletchley Park being responsible for the advent of computers, and Arpanet being responsible for the Internet. So the military - both in war and “peace” - is responsible for the advent of the Information Age.

And I'm going to continue reading and turning this around until I have the picture drawn the way I want it to be. And it's all your bloody fault!                               Puppy's talk page03:43 16 Feb

 • Leandro1983 has uploaded two photographs of pairs of people and has seeded several pages, including Elton John, with them. I am not sure whether there is any point other than a serious anti-gay-marriage message.
 • In my conversation on User talk:Nopartablewarning, he seemed to be saying that The Cuteyhearts, an amusing page on the formation of an awful amateur girl-group, was using Uncyclopedia to promote a pre-existing hoax or maybe even an actual stage act.

My comments, which are worth a bucket of warm spit. The picture is boring, if it's the one I was looking at. That's not even Elton John in it, and it means nothing except maybe to the user. - The Cuteyhearts seems light hearted and boring, so real or not it seems okay but a bit juvenile. It does have a link to The Shaggs, which is to its everlasting credit (I have a copy of The Shaggs original album, and don't know if they made more than one (not one copy, one album)). - Lots of junk around here, but that is the way of the world. Thanks, Al; elsewhere, Puppy believes that The Cuteyhearts is intentionally a satire on The Shaggs. Spıke Ѧ 01:28 18-Feb-13

I have blocked these users for 1 day "pending investigation." The first one added a page to Category:Things Retards Believe by simply editing the category and typing in the name of the page. I reverted, and listed the category on VFD on substantive grounds. Then the second one typed the same page back in, as a red-link. Apart from the fact that the user is playing with categories without learning how to, and is using categories to write a drive-by slap (at the expense of British Intelligence, if I may digress into oxymorons) rather than clever humor, these usernames are at least an effort to evade the responsibility of having an identity, and may be sockpuppets. Please advise. Spıke Ѧ 12:26 18-Feb-13

edit Consultation

 • I have banned Samh2012 for a week for multiple incivilities, which I explain (underneath you) on his talk page.
 • Mnbvcxz asserts via QVFD that File:Pogrom.jpg is so graphic as to violate our policy. In my opinion, we have no censorship policy apart from that of Wikia, which they see to promptly. (PS--But see below.) However, several weeks back, a photo was offered up on VFD and someone made the claim that Mordillo laid down the law against "snuff pics." This JPG is in use in Final Solution, which I nominated last night for featuring (running, as usual, with images switched off). Is it too graphic to be funny, especially in context of an article that plays nicety-nice with the Holocaust? Should it be deleted outright? Spıke Ѧ 19:41 19-Feb-13
I would replace it as I recall someone did something similar about the Nanking Massacre and used some death images. I don't mind 'death in art' (David's painting of Marat) but I using photos like this is a bit too much. I suggest asking the author first if he can change it otherwise we will have to locate a different image that isn't so graphic. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 20:29, February 19, 2013 (UTC)
OK I will ask him. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 20:29, February 19, 2013 (UTC)
I'm glad you're looking at removing this image, I think there's a lot to say for allowing people a bit of dignity in death - especially when they didn't actually get any when they died. And there are always other images that can be used...
But I have to rant a bit about "we have no censorship policy". Guys, you should (and did) have some limits. I know this is something I've grumped at before (always with my non-staff hat on), but I've got to do so again. Ignoring Wikia's limits for a moment, the line used to be: no shock images, no porn, and no boobs unless they were funny - that is, none that weren't in an article and an intrinsic part of the joke. That last bit got lost first, when people started piling on the nudie shots for personal collections (I never understood what that had to do with building a humor website). Sure, Wikia (or more specifically, me) will eventually remove images outside the ToU, but surely there should still be a level of self-regulation... just as there is for articles that are unfunny. I'm not asking for an child friendly site, but there are two reasons that Goatse doesn't contain the actual image. Firstly, because it's more funny that way, and secondly because no one (well, almost no one) wants to see that image as they move around uncyc.
Again, this is all personal opinion, not staff opinion.. and maybe I'm a prude, but I honestly don't believe that this wiki needs porn or shock to be funny. There are plenty of other sites that occupy that spot already. -- sannse@fandom (talk) 22:06, February 19, 2013 (UTC)
I stand corrected, as Special:Upload states that very policy--against "pornographic/shock/gore" and in our name not Wiki's. Separately, I agree with you that we don't need porn or shock to be funny, and those who do are for the most part recently removed. On the image in question, I agree with Romartus on giving the author the chance to correct it rather than rip a hole in his article and risk its advance to the main page (by which time the issue must be dealt with). Spıke Ѧ 23:27 19-Feb-13
Everyone has a different line where they define porn. For me it's war and violence and the kiilling of animals of any kind. That's porn. Showing that fat guy eating a hamburger is snuff porn. Eye of the beholder. Wikipedia has graphics and photos which are much much more sexually explicit than anything I've seen here, by far. Even videos on talk pages. They show the body as a natural thing. Eating a chicken leg, unnatural and porn, unless you are a coyote or something. Aleister 00:10 20-2-'13
Aleister my love... if that's your view of porn, either you don't actually know the definition of the word, or you are a very very scary man. Or both. I'm going to assume it's both. -- sannse@fandom (talk) 17:49, February 20, 2013 (UTC)
You will never go wrong doing so. Aleister, what about the lifeless corpses of all those bean sprouts you scarf down? Spıke Ѧ 17:55 20-Feb-13

Thanks for the message you posted on my talk page. I didn't really mention that Lord Sutch was a musician, sorry, as I was focusing on his political life but if you want to add a section on his musical career in the article that's fine by me. I noticed your Battle of Trafalgar page and I especially liked how you claimed the USA intervened at the end. I am also a huge fan of British history (Don't worry I'm not American) and would be happy to receive suggestions to titles of articles to write for British history. I attempted two articles on British history with the BP oil spill and Other War of 1812 but they may not be that good as they were my first articles (I only joined 5 days ago). Check them out if you want to. ScottPat (talk) 10:49, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

Hi ScottPat. No problem if you're American btw! Lord Sutch wasn't much of a musical artist, more of a showman. He would arrive on stage in a coffin and then sing 'Jack the Ripper' in his croaky voice. Don't worry if your first articles are not working out, you can move them to a sub page and work on them there later. I have had to do that with a few of my ones - especially when I get stuck half way through them and lose inspiration. It is also good to work and improve an existing article - the Battle of Trafalgar was started by others as you will see on the page's history but I decided to improve it whilst working on a similar project Horatio Nelson (again, started by someone else) . I will look at your articles as I have read about the War of 1812 and the recent Canadian attempt to make that war a type of 'Braveheart' resistance moment when Canada chose a different path from the USA to eventually become their own country. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 20:39, April 6, 2013 (UTC)

edit Belgium, PuppyOnTheRadio

I think it was in June 2012 that I made my first edit, on the Belgium page. My edits were reverted, but PuppyOnTheRadio advised me to create an Uncyclopedia account and work on a copy of the page in User:Bwan/Belgium. So that's what I did, and very rarely (I think I have worked about 5 days on Uncyclopedia in total), I worked on it. PuppyOnTheRadio sometimes gave me some advice. He said that he would put my User:Bwan/Belgium-page online as soon as he found it an improvement of the original. But about a week ago, just when I made an edit again and asked Pup to have a look at it, he committed Uncyclopedia-suicide. So now that my master isn't here anymore to show me how to use the Unclyclopedian Force, I am a masterless disciple - the hour grows late, and Bwan rides to Romartus' empire, seeking his council. You could also forward my plea to another Uncyclopedian emperor. So my question is: is my Belgium page an improvement of the original?

 • I know it's visually unappealing, this still needs some improvement.
 • I deleted a lot of non-funny paragraphs, plain stupid, ungrammatical or incomprehensible things, things that made no sense and things that didn't seem to be part of an interesting or big enough theme.
 • In the last paragraph, Political Confusion and Complexity, I deviated from my original idea: first, I wanted to make it an extremely confusing and complex paragraph. But as I found to many examples, the paragraph would become even larger than it already is if I made it all as complex and confusing as I first wanted. So perhaps I could delete some examples and do as I originally planned. The sentence The Ministry of Confusion and Complexity is currently discussing a law that would stimulate building houses nearby heavily used roads, as this would generate innumerable ... already is a good example of what the whole section would be like.

It's ok but I am not sure about the Nirvana mentions and a few randoms (Poland?). I would be aware that you want to 'stick' a reader to the page so perhaps a few repetitive ideas could be pruned back. I understand the only true Belgian is King Albert and his family come from Germany. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 16:09, April 24, 2013 (UTC)
I shortened the last section, deleted the Nirvanas and made a couple of small other changes. For example, in the part about the Bill Clinton anecdote, the word "confusing" might have occurred a little too much. That thing with Poland - probably you meant the general description of Belgium at the beginning of the article - is actually one of the few things that remain from the original text. If you look at it (France to the west, the Netherlands or Dutchland or Hollandria or whatever in the east, and Poland in the south), you see that it is very absurd (maybe take a look at this too [1]). I don't think the non sequitur rate of the article is too high. Also, as a reader you don't need to know anything about Belgium - perhaps except for Bart De Wever, Filip De Winter (these two are very pro-Flanders) and Elio Di Rupo (publicly known as a homosexual), but this doesn't seem much of a problem to me.
It's online now, I changed the original page to mine.Bwan (talk) 20:21, April 24, 2013 (UTC)
OK. Thanks for the changes. Your version is a huge improvement on what was there. Many new writers think abuse=funny. It rarely does. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 12:52, April 25, 2013 (UTC)
