edit UnNews:Long John Silver: I divested from Treasure Island

This strikes me not as humor but as allegory. The other UnNews, by Anon, seems like an essay against Islam whose only humor strategy is slight exaggeration; I deleted that one and asked Anon to register and get help to repair it. Spıke Radiomicrophone11:44 12-Apr-16

Uhmm not really an allegory (I couldn't be plainer). I often like to re-write famous stories and turn them current. Oh. I would have kept the anon's news article. I think that had a lot of promise, hence looking for better illustrations. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 12:18, April 12, 2016 (UTC)

It starts with a story, from Pakistan Today, that women's rights are horribly abused in Saudi Arabia, and makes the point that women's rights are horribly abused in Saudi Arabia, mostly adding commentary about that fact. The source is begging for an UnNews, but the actual UnNews has "promise" only if a real comedy theme were breathed into it. Feel free to undelete it if you see how to take it the rest of the way. Spıke Radiomicrophone15:25 12-Apr-16

PS--Nothing at all about the prohibition on playing chess in the kingdom.... Spıke Radiomicrophone15:36 12-Apr-16

I think the article was fine enough. Took me about 20 mins to think of images to illustrate it! May be it has all the problems you mention but it was riffing off a real news story which I doubt we would have covered ourselves. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 16:11, April 12, 2016 (UTC)

All right, it is back as UnNews:Saudi Arabia promotes driver safety. Spıke Radiomicrophone16:54 12-Apr-16

Have renamed yours to simplify the headline a little. It is still problematic, as the main-page reader is not desperate for news on Long John Silver; that is, it isn't clear from the headline what the UnNews is about. Even from the story until one decodes it. Spıke Radiomicrophone17:45 12-Apr-16

edit UnScripts:The West Wing Season 1 Episode 20: The Bridge Between Our Noses

Hey, thanks for noticing my pending script. I took a look at the existing article on The West Wing and I agree it's awfully light. You suggested I create a humor-based article on the TV series. If I decide to do this (which I may not, as I don't know much about the show beyond the first couple of seasons), do you propose I completely rewrite the page and give it a makeover, or that I just edit it to make it a little bit funnier? And by the way, I agree with your observation. I'll add some pictures from the show. Any other counsel is welcome.

Thanks!--Makefolkslaugh ([[User [The user FORMERLY known as Princelogo]:Makefolkslaugh|talk]]) 17:46, April 18, 2016 (UTC)

I watched the entire TV series some time ago. I haven't re-watched it since then so may need a 'refresher'. I think a re-write is possible only if you have decided a 'take' on a particular show. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 06:11, April 19, 2016 (UTC)

edit Donald Trump

Draketo edited the interwiki from this article to the Latin Uncyclopedia. It linked to a redirect and he made it link to the actual article. However, the actual article is three sentences and more insult than humor. Draketo's edit should either be restored or else the interwiki line should be removed entirely. By the way, Draketo also added the interwiki to the Spanish Uncyclopedia. Spıke Radiomicrophone13:22 27-Apr-16

edit UnScripts:The West Wing Season 1 Episode 20: The Bridge Between Our Noses

Hey. I've been trying to rewrite this article to appeal to a more general audience, because my original draft was too specific to the TV show I'm parodying. I've run into writer's block. What can I do to help flush out some more ideas?

Thanks!-- Princelogo [The user formerly known as Makefolkslaugh] 22:06, May 15, 2016 (UTC)

I read the article, I thought the best approach was the Martin Sheen/Charlie Sheen angle. The other bit I am not sure about as you would need to know the tv series to get the joke. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 14:08, May 16, 2016 (UTC)

edit VFD

Hi; do you feel like reading more really crappy articles? Shrewvomit at least deserves a push to go where the others went; Vinylrecordprotectress made a good case that the original Skye article should be saved but the knock-offs should go. You said at VFD that Dog seemed featureworthy; if you would do the honors, we can cast shameless self-votes instead of a shameless self-nom. EStop seems to be taking one of those unannounced shore leaves.

Irritable of contents has done yeoman's work at ferreting out awful pages, less so in dropping names from his comic-book world into pages where they don't belong. Also a vandal evidently motivated by my site notice, though the teacher from Ciudad Victoria at whom it was aimed may have gotten the message.

Wolvy was on the site twice nightly about a week ago; not since. And a couple days of smelly Slough just ended with a flurry of new Uncyclopedians writing about Penis and about who is a jerk at the Renaissance School. There is nothing at Reddit to explain it; perhaps there was a call at 4chan for everyone to leave there and spend the evening here. Spıke Radiomicrophone13:45 24-May-16

I have no idea what the Skye article is about! Yes, I have seen I of C has been very active looking for Ye Olde Crappe on this website. I think EStop may be at sea rather than on-line. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 18:15, May 24, 2016 (UTC)

The JavaScript tools such as RollbackAll work by walking through a Special:Contributions listing to find out what to roll back, identifying the elements by their HTML class or ID. AjaxPatrol looks for (patrol) buttons and changes them to make a call elsewhere inside this tool when you click it. A different skin probably changes the HTML that Wikia generates, violating the assumptions of the patrolling tool. Spıke Radiomicrophone12:19 13-Jun-16

edit UnScripts:The West Wing Season 1 Episode 20: The Bridge Between Our Noses

Hello! You may remember that a couple of months ago I was working on an UnScript satirizing The West Wing. The feedback I received was that the jokes were too specific to the show and readers who hadn't watched it wouldn't have understood them. I took this to heart and I have been modifying it ever since. I've removed most of the show-specific jokes (but not all, because I still think there should be something to appeal to viewers) and replaced them with jokes that general readers will find funny. I think I've gone as far as I can in refining the article. Any final criticisms or suggestions before I remove the {{Construction}} template? If possible, I would like some feedback specifically on a line I wrote about mens' rights, given by a character named Josh. The point is to ridicule the mens' rights movement who try to seek equality in the wrong issues (as well as to bring a political topic into an article about a political show) but I know it's a big risk that may alienate some readers and seem out of place to others. I'd like your more experienced opinion on this. Thanks! Princelogo [The user formerly known as Makefolkslaugh]

ok, i will have another look. Thanks for the alert. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 20:04, June 25, 2016 (UTC)
I had another look. I can see you have worked a bit more on this article to tie to the present (as of July 2016) and overall, It runs ok. I am just not finding it especially funny, perhaps some amusement from a fan of the show. I think the problem is that if you can could imagine a 'reboot' (though of course, the actor who played Leo has gone). Like Star Trek. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 18:12, July 8, 2016 (UTC)

I have a little idea I'd like to add to your wonderful article... would you grant me permission sir, I feel it needs some creepiness including? SMBsig08:53, August 22, 2016 (UTC)

Yes, that's fine. No probbo. Just a small point as regards the new sig, can you make it smaller? There was (is?) a rule about a sig's size and length. It's ok on length but I looks a bit big on a talk page. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 13:53, August 22, 2016 (UTC)
Is; it's in UN:SIG. But Mac's signature doesn't violate it. Spıke Radiomicrophone15:10 22-Aug-16
Ok, I wasn't sure. Looks big in Chrome. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 15:27, August 22, 2016 (UTC)
Wider than 55 X's side-by-side? (Ah, but above you said the length was okay.) If it is too high as to force lines apart, that is a problem, but I don't see it at any text zoom in Firefox. Spıke Radiomicrophone15:36 22-Aug-16

Evening Gents, I'll happily make it a little smaller if you like. Just a little bit worried that the bitmap preview wouldn't be legible enough at a smaller size, though I'm keeping in mind the height so it doesn't encroach on text. (I've shrunk it a tad anyway). I think you'll like the truthful additives I have for Theresa May. There's little discussion of her 'extracurricular activities' and she needs to be exposed forthwith! SMBsig20:58, August 22, 2016 (UTC)

Your sig is fine. I checked the Theresa May article but I don't see any new edits. Problem logging in?? --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 07:45, August 23, 2016 (UTC)

I'll be updating it shortly sire. Had the content on another computer. SMBsig08:22, August 23, 2016 (UTC)

Ok had a quick read. I think the extra paragraph somewhat veers off the main article in my view as regards Ken Dodd and Kirsten Dunst story. How do you tie that to Theresa May as such and how 'evil' she is?? --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 10:23, August 23, 2016 (UTC)

It must be said, I did get a bit carried away with the Stroke Me concept, and then Ken Dodd and his disgusting feather duster popped into my mind (which can't be healthy). THEN I realised he's the only old ecentric man left in the UK who hasn't been accused of paedophilia or sexual assault and therefore should be in accordance with popular British standards. I think Dunst popped up because I was reading into her many charity works over the years, she would've suited Stroke Me. Maybe ditch the paragraph completely or replace Dunst with May? I'm sure Dodd would love to get his duster on her. GUN   SIR  MAC  BOSWELL  Knightssword   [†]  13:24, August 23, 2016 (UTC)

I think you can save that bit about Dodd and Dunst for a Ken Dodd Article (if we have one!). I would cut that bit anyway but perhaps something else will come in mind as regards Theresa May and her charities. She does look like someone who could be hiding something very kinky. Perhaps she is Theresa the Dominatrix at number 10, Wisteria Drive. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 15:23, August 23, 2016 (UTC)

I've just taken it out, I think you're right anyway - I just get so carried away it really is quite unbelievable. I'll have a think about her charitable works, see if there's anything floating abround inside my mind. GUN   SIR  MAC  BOSWELL  Knightssword   [†]  08:38, August 24, 2016 (UTC)

Fixed but the vote gadget isn't working properly. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 14:46, September 30, 2016 (UTC)

This would be a failure of MediaWiki:VFH vote.js. Good luck even trying to read it, but it might depend on what DaNASCAT called "a slightly tweaked design and enhanced discoverability that will be consistent across the entire platform". This would include the new "rebranding" (Fandom powered by Wikia! Go bronies!) that has changed the pagetitle.

You can complain if you like. My last complaint was on finding that the note on the username merge that I added to the Message Of The Day at MediaWiki:Anonnotice, I no longer have the ability to remove now that it has run its course. I was told that Wikia would "study" changing that. This was a refreshing change to previous bug reports that have elicited only a scolding to change to one of Wikia's approved browsers. Spıke Radiomicrophone15:39 30-Sep-16

Ah consistency, brand awareness. But we are the Chief Cuckoo in the Corporate Wikia Nest!! --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 23:30, October 1, 2016 (UTC)

So you were told in San Francisco. Not for the first time: I put this in the same bucket as Hong Kong's guarantee of "one country, two systems." Apart from corporate changes of strategy, much has advanced in forty years of computing, but this business of amateur hackers writing JavaScript to walk through an object-tree of someone else's document, the way it existed in 2008, is a process designed to break. Spıke Radiomicrophone23:44 1-Oct-16

PS--Would you care to read some really crappy pages? There are several on VFD that are old enough to line up and shoot on my new Three Admin Rule. Spıke Radiomicrophone23:52 1-Oct-16

Three admin rule? I missed that discussion but will look at said pages. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 09:15, October 2, 2016 (UTC)

Discussion? Simply, when a ballot is pushing 1000 hours, three Admins favor deletion and no one at all has argued for Keep, it goes. There was a trickle of these earlier this year. Spıke Radiomicrophone13:17 2-Oct-16

edit Replicated

I have replicated the error in MediaWiki:VFH vote.js. You can use the tool to insert a comment; but if you use it to insert a For or Against, it edits the page to fix the score and then crashes before it can insert the actual vote. Last February, at the insistence of the Wikia guy that we not hide JavaScript in userspaces, I copypasted this code here from Spang's userspace. You have used it successfully since then?

Today I edited the file, so that all the code is not a single line, and managed not to break it further. However, I cannot debug the page, as I use a browser not supported by Wikia and all Wikia pages throw errors all over the place. Perhaps Puppy knows enough to zero in on what has broken. Spıke Radiomicrophone20:34 3-Oct-16

PS--The code's tendency to give all its variables one-letter names, and to look for a page's eleventh child node, will make this a real challenge. Spıke Radiomicrophone21:00 3-Oct-16

Cancel red alert, ignore above invective against Evil Wikia. Irritable of contents went back onto this page to edit his vote and deleted |againstnumber=0, which the tool looks for to type the (missing) text of your vote before it. Spıke Radiomicrophone21:14 3-Oct-16

edit UnNews

Surely you have a clever take on the week's top story? that a political party that complained that Europe was reducing Britain to third-world status have shown Europe what an independent Britain could do for itself, to-wit, a fistfight on the floor of Parliament!

American news is hard to adapt. We have a daily presentation from the Hillary camp, designed to make Trump look stupid, and which does indeed make Trump look stupid. (In order to capture the agenda each day and make the public look away from the Wikileaks dumps where Hillary was winking that she had to trash Wall Street in public while continuing to take its money.) The only handy comedy handle is how stupid Trump looks, and it fails Poe's Law as it is exactly what Hillary's people would be saying in dead seriousness, even if styled as a joke. Spıke Radiomicrophone18:08 8-Oct-16

PS--Would you please go to MediaWiki:VFH vote.js and click the orange dot (Review status) to make Wikia review my changes and turn the dot green? I can't do this because of my browser version. I did not change the file--there was no bug, as reported above--but did add proper spacing and comments to improve its readability. Spıke Radiomicrophone18:13 8-Oct-16
