Thanks for the nomination!

Hey - I was certainly very surprised to be nominated as Writer of the Month, thinking that was reserved for actual "Uncyclopedia" contibutors. I think this will motivate me to write an actual Uncyclopedia article for once - keep an eye out ;). Anyway, thanks for the nomination! --Composure1 16:20, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

No problem - I can't guarantee other people will feel the same way, but I think good writers of any persuasion should be eligible. UnNews is, after all, probably the highest-quality section of Uncyc. —rc (t) 18:17, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

I think I'm going to try it out for a week and see if it's feasible for me to carry on with it, because having more than one person will complicate things. Let this be a lesson to vote whores! —rc (t) 04:19, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
So long as some writers are whoring practically every article that they write while others are handing out cookies for votes, I don't see the practice stopping. Fact: It's really very effective, and with each added feature I think the herd is less apt to judge the articles critically. If "__________" wrote it, it must be good. Bollocks. I'd recommend forking some of the writers listed Uncyclopedia:Hall of Shame to a separate listing on Uncyclopedia:Hall of Whores because, at present, it is a shame. There's my 5 cents; keep the change. ^_^ --The Bard of Uncyclopedia 15px-Quill.gif 06:21, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, you never saw the Bard whoring out his latest play on the street corner. By the way, I liked Shall I Compare Thee. And as a student of English literature I'm offended by the idea that nobody would link to it - it's only possibly the most famous sonnet ever written. —rc (t) 06:36, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. ^_^ Could I tempt you to write a few sonnets for UnPoetia? 14 lines can be as difficult as a full-length regular article, but it's for a good cause I'm sure you'll agree. Haiku? Blank verse? Limerick? (lol) Just something to think about. --The Bard of Uncyclopedia 15px-Quill.gif 06:49, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
I'll see if I can work something up sometime (not now, I'm too burned out from classes/finals). In the meantime, you might want to gank some poems from existing articles to legitimize UnPoetia, especially if you're preparing it for full namespace consideration. The Lord Byron page has some short verses that could be expanded, for one. —rc (t) 06:56, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Your WotM comment

Consider me zinged. Yup, whored on my very own talkpage. Once. Was about to change it, but was too slow. Apropo of nothing, um, look who has a link to their section of WotM in their sig... --Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 03:16, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

In my opinion having a benign link in your sig isn't the same as "casually" mentioning your WotM nom to someone, and happening to link to it as well. The fact that I didn't even notice ENeGMA's link, while I did happen across your self promotion, as well as your steady stream of self-nominations and past self-promotion, should be evidence of that. And it's absolutely true that I had no idea ENeGMA had written all those articles, whereas in most cases I have a sense of what a regular contributor has written.
However, I suppose it was poor form to point that out on the WotM page since people are supposed to be objective in judging writing quality, so I'll remove the last bit of my comment.
That doesn't change the fact that you are a serious article whore - the worst I can recall, save for one guy who hasn't been active in a long while - and that I think you are extremely arrogant. I've already commented on your tendency to claim that people who don't vote for your articles/images "don't get" them in some way so I won't repeat that one, but I'm not sure if I've mentioned my distaste for your extensive comments on VFH/VFP noms (better now that I started moving convos and you and other people have followed suit) that have received negative votes. I think you're terrible at dealing with criticism and you have an inflated sense of your own talent.
The above post was written sans admin hat, of course. —rc (t) 05:41, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Actually, instead of uploading it to Wikipedia, can you upload it to Wikimedia Commons? (You may need to register an account) --AAA! (AAAA) 11:28, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Alas, I've been through all this before, and there are complications with the image rights that have prevented me from releasing it under a free license (it's kind of convoluted, especially since Wikia's acquisition of Uncyc - basically they own the name/website but I still own the logo. I have been planning to transfer rights to Wikia but I haven't had the time have been too lazy to work everything out so far). I've tried to convince them to allow people to use it on userpages under its current license but unfortunately (or fortunately, I guess, depending on your WP viewpoint) they won't make the exception. —rc (t) 23:00, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I have the ability to release the rights to the image, but those other complicating issues have made me hesitant to do so. I know it's not an ideal situation... —rc (t) 05:06, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

So where does this leave the foreign-language Uncyclopedias?

I'm a little concerned that the idea of selling the logo is still on the table. Many of the other-language projects are using logos which are similar to the potato, but adapted in some way (varying from the large 'D' on the Brazilian puzzle piece to entirely different character sets for some far-eastern languages). I am unsure as to the eventual status of these; will the potato need to be pulled and replaced in every foreign-language project by some other, newly-created logo?
Affected are basically everything except hiki.pedia (Finland adopted a one-finger salute logo long ago due to complaints of similarity to Wikipédia), dÉsencyclopédie (the dÉ dice are an entirely made-in-Canada play on words), psyklopedin.hehu.se (still on MediaWiki default logo) and peremen.name (Korean/fish logo, translates content but claims not to be Uncyclopedia).
As you own the potato, you will need to decide what you want done with these. The logos are one of the few common elements binding the various independent projects together. Yes, they could be pulled from every wiki in every language across the entire project very quickly, on your word, and replaced... or they could stay, if you choose to leave them be. Carlb 13:43, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
I will have to make sure to talk about that with Gil (once I get around to talking about anything with Gil). I definitely don't want our sister sites to have to yank their logos. —rc (t) 00:08, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

You big homo.

I tell you, if I knew why it was wonking up like that I'd fix it, but I don't. Must be your fancy-pants formatting or something...BerogenVFH 15:55, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Apparently I fixed it. BerogenVFH 15:55, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, but I have to be honest - I didn't vote for it (or read it yet, even) - I just featured it when it got enough votes. ;) —rc (t) 17:50, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Oooooh yeah... I got confused by the time I'd hit the top of the list. My copy-paste action is shot to hell, too. BerogenVFH 20:38, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Hey there RC

KT is in the IRC, and so plots are afoot. What say you to two reskins on consecutive days? You may ask me if you want more info on this nefarious plot. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 20:26, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Arsemas Card

Sally Boothman was throwing away last year's Arsemas cards, and
realised that only faggots celebrate Arsemas.
This user thinks you are mediocrity personified,
and URGES you to have a Furry Arsemas...TO-DAY!!!!

That is quite nice indeed. —rc (t) 16:01, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Feature for 11th January

No-one else was around and the article was getting not so fresh, so I put another one up. I put Wicker Man up because it was supposed to be the one for the 10th ... this is probably wrong and evil, but makes the universe seem just that little bit more heartless and random. I hope I didn't fuck anything up - David Gerard 01:12, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

My internet was out from midday yesterday until just a couple hours ago, so I couldn't update last night. I was going to feature Wicker Man tonight because it would have been featured last night if I'd had a working connection, so no worries. —rc (t) 01:16, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Forum:Time to start talking about new admins?

Since you were one of those who voted against in December, can I press you for your opinion this time round? Majority consensus now seems to be very much for, but during an IRC discussion, Sannse and I felt that it would be good to check how the "againsties" felt this time round before starting to make nominations. Ta muchly. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 10:40, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm not particularly for it, but I'm not so opposed that I would vote against. I'm neutral, basically. One question for whoever is planning to start the vote: will it be open, admin-only, or user-votes-count-as-half? —rc (t) 16:50, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Think last time we had noms by Admin only, followed by user-votes-count-as-half, under the premise that existing Admins are often better at locating the poor bewildered souls with the potential to put up with soul-destroying Admin duties, plus it curtailed potential "sockpuppetry", etc. That basically seemed to be the plan last time anyway. Of course someone will always complain about whatever system we use. TBH I'd favour a return to Admin-only VFS as we at least knew it worked. But there you go..... -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb (talk to me)
I'd favour admin only for all the reasons my good friend above has outlined. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 19:30, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
What he said, but limited to only a few times per year. —The Right Honourable Major Sir Hinoa KUN UmP UotM Bur MDA NS CM (talk) 19:33, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Heh, and here I was thinking of averaging one a month, like we did last year... (12 ops, 12 months, most of them worked out, right?)  ;)--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 19:42, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
I think regular users should get some kind of vote, but admin-only noms is probably for the best. —rc (t) 20:26, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
I tink Isra was talking about admin-only nomination, with 2 users approving the nomination in order fo rit to get onto the voting page. Which sounded like a good idea to me. Past that, I don't think users getting the right to vote would change much, so they might as well. Hello, Mr. Murphy

As you know Hrodulf posted an entry at the forum yesterday, and shortly afterwards {right after you left) came into #uncyclopedia to try and explain himself. I talked to him there, as I have before, and he started talking about re-admittance to the site. According to him the posts he made after being banned the first time were made with rage flowing through his veins, and that he was not his usual self. Anyway, he'd like to be re-admitted to the site and I told him I would see what I could do. He suggested Special rules and I said this would be a good idea, however there's still the matter of several ban evasions. I asked him how a 1 month ban would with no attempted evasions would sound, and he said he could handle that. Now, of course, I would never do anything without your input (the beaner banner), so what d'you think? I wouldn't be averse to letting him back in after the month and possibly with some extra limitations put on him. Plastering other sites with his Uncyc trolling is a pretty serious offense, in my opinion. Perhaps just a warning that any similar offenses, or any attempt to revive the whole sad ordeal, will be met with a fully permanent ban. In any case, one month full ban -> yes, and we can decide what else to do in the meantime. —rc (t) 01:35, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Sorry to kibbutz, guys, and I really don't want to be trying to tell you how to run things, but I'd strongly recommend waiting longer than a month - I'd say more like three months, minimum. He might start up another account in the meantime, but unblocking his established account now would just be encouraging him, and quite possibly helping him to derail his own recovery process... in other words, you wouldn't be doing him (or his loved ones) any favors. I felt terrible about what happened, even responsible to some extent, but now that he's back from Vegas he's got to get on with his life — his real life. Please, give him just a little more time.  c • > • cunwapquc? 04:37, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
You may well be right, but there's no way for us to really tell when he's ready to come back. If he's not in a month and restarts the whole thing, he'll be gone for good. —rc (t) 16:57, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Feature for 12th January

Since it hadn't changed by 14:00 UTC I changed it myself again. This time I remembered the FA template on the article. Presumably the next canonical feature change should be around midnight Saturday UTC. I would offer to take on the job, but I really can't guarantee any sort of reliability - David Gerard 14:19, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

^%^#%# Thanks for doing that. This time it was entirely my fault - I got back to the dorm late and I didn't even think about it. —rc (t) 16:53, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Top10 of 2006

It's ready when you are. Should we put up some sort of message at VFH?--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 21:09, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

The main page of UnNews? Honestly, I'm not sure how UnNews is run these days. You should probably check with Zim ulator, our main UnNews admin. If you mean the main main page, it has to...well, I just checked the main page and it looks like you figured out how. :) —rc (t) 05:15, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Not to worry, I just did some fixups on it - try it now?  c • > • cunwapquc? 05:23, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for not dissappointing me in your security against plagarism. I hate it when people try to pass other people's crap off as their own. Now to work on my real article.--The Jeff Killer 02:43, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
