Don't go. I only know of you through a pee review that you once did for me but that was enough to let me see that you are a great Uncyclopedian. Sir ScottPat Icons-flag-gb Scotland Flag 1 UnS CUN VFH (talk) 16:50, April 23, 2013 (UTC)
I'm working 50+ hours a week at the moment. I'm just exhausted.                               Puppy's talk page09:25 23 Apr 2013
But do you remember when Uncyclopedia was comic relief from work?! Spıke Ѧ 21:32 23-Apr-13
I started editing here when I was unemployed, and for the last few years I've mainly been a phone jockey - thereby having a low work load and constant access to Internet at work. I'm back in management, so have to focus creative energy to get paid. I'll probably be back here regularly at some stage, but just not right now.                               Puppy's talk page01:35 24 Apr 2013

Template:Oh Dear

Thanks for editing this so that it gives a signature. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 07:41, May 6, 2013 (UTC)

I just undid it. I prefer a three tilde sig - the date stamp is incorporated into my signature. There's no easy way to have it change between three and four tildes for user preference though.                               Puppy's talk page07:43 06 May 2013 <--three tilde

That's fine then. Thanks for your help though. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 07:45, May 6, 2013 (UTC)

You could create a template of {{OD}} which would consist of the text of:
{{<includeonly>subst:</includeonly>Oh Dear}}

which, if my wiki-fu is correct, give you the result you are after. It's been a while since I played with subst'ing and noincludes/includeonlys in templates though, so I'm not promising it'll be perfect.                               Puppy's talk page07:51 06 May 2013
Okay - it has been done and tested.                               Puppy's talk page07:54 06 May 2013

Ahhhh! Edit-conflict. I hate them. Anyway my point I was going to make is invalid now as you have already changed it. Thanks. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 07:56, May 6, 2013 (UTC)

I've protected this page, not as any commentary on your experimentation, but because any actual vandalism by others would instantly appear on thousands of pages of newbies least likely to deal with it calmly. Spıke Ѧ 09:27 6-May-13
This should always be {{subst:OD}} anyway. Given the text just comes from {{Oh Dear}} that'd probably be better off with better protection.                               Puppy's talk page09:51 06 May 2013

I am glad you are taking a look at this. I have not been to the Wikipedia article on it--I visited Conservapedia itself, once, and found it more didactic than conservative--but the article strikes me as a total (featured) rant, about everything from being, yuck!, conservative, to being not conservative enough, to not banning people for the right durations, with vanity comparable to Poptropica and Red Hot Pawn when we encountered them. Spıke Ѧ 00:21 7-May-13

I have a dislike of anything Schafly related. Conservapedia is the product of the youngest(?) Schafly, Andrew. Because of my personal dislike of the site I'm not too involved in that article, as I would become ranty myself. The core of this article was a parody of The “ranty” aspect in that was taken as a parody of the source, as was the “too left leaning” concept. It could be stripped back to the original concept, as the concept has become muddled over time, but as I mentioned before, I may not be impartial enough to do this well.                               Puppy's talk page12:32 07 May 2013

I have no such personal dislike, but I always hate parodying ranters by exaggerating the rantiness; it usually doesn't work, sometimes doesn't come across as parody at all, and the reader wonders what the writer's agenda really is: create comedy or destroy his adversary with the adversary's own words. I could eventually do it right, but this is a FA (gawd!) and there are bigger fish to fry. Spıke Ѧ 00:43 7-May-13

Revert to featured version? We could probably improve it over time, but as an FA it means at that time it was considered one of our finest. (And I like the FA version myself.)                               Puppy's talk page12:54 07 May 2013

Compared to the FA, the current version has some small corrections, and some helpful large deletions, including my own of today. I would delete the external links as well: one to Conservapedia and another advocating a "better" conservative website. Spıke Ѧ 01:13 7-May-13

Oddly the Conservapedia page on Uncyclopedia links to the fork. Given how precious Conservapedia are about anyone not regular editing pages there I'm surprised that this edit got through.                               Puppy's talk page11:00 07 May 2013

Fifty shades of grey

I just ran across your page Fifty shades of grey. Very creative (I was gone for most of 2012 and missed the feature). There is a vote on the newest content warning page, for a new content warning. Please have a look. Hope all has been well, and profitable, and then some extra things too. Aleister 1:45 9-5-'13

Australia has old coins up North

Yes it does. Hello, long time no bark. Hope all is well. ATS had a thread on 1,000 year old coins being found in North Aussie, and they probably bought a lot of spiders. To business. It seems as if the new content warning idea of Brother ScottPat and Brother Aleister may be set for center stage, although we have no real page to put up. If you have a few minutes can you play around with it? Thanks!!!! The exact language voted on is:

  • 1)To contain the words "Content warning. Some of this encyclopedia's pages may not be safe for work or school, and some are unsuitable for children."
  • 2)Which would be followed by the two enter or not buttons.
  • 3)The light background be a picture of an academic institution or temple, this picture here, just lighter and enlarged (or engourged - i.e. Shaibadoo)

So if this is any use to you, please do some magic(k) and see what works best as to color of the lettering, if the button can somehow be placed onto the lawn of the pic, etc. You of course can play with the colors, size, fonts, etc., and do a bang-up job. No hurry (seriously, no hurry) and see if you can work a link to this in somewhere. Thanks from all of us here at uncyclopedia, your friendly neighborhood encyclopedia. Aleister oo:41 4-6-'13

1,000 years? A little surprising, but it's surmised that the Dutch had been to Australia long before the English, and there are maps dating back even further that show part of the northern coastline, so reasonable to assume there were visitors previously. Australian Aboriginies would have no use for coin though, so if coins had been left with them they probably would have been discarded.
Not much that needs to be done on the CW. Can't get that link in there though, mores the pity. I'll have a go at something tonight my time.                               Puppy's talk page01:04 04 Jun 2013
Here is the link to the 1,000 year old coin thread. I haven't read deeply into it, but have marked it for future reading material. If you look at it again, as always, it's best to log in there to escape some of the ads. Thanks for considering putting something together. Maybe the pic doesn't have to be very light, or can just stay as it is. Is there an easy way to redo the pic with a "hole" cut onto the lawn where the button can be placed? Anyway, to make the site look academic and respectable would be quite the sleight of hand, and maybe a good mock-up will convince the no-comment-sayers to see the potential of finally doing away with some of the controversy about the warning label. I still think the 1,000 year old coins were used to buy spiders. That just seems the most obvious thing to buy with coins back then, except for women and rocks. Aleister 2:20 4-6-'13

Forum:Rollback with custom Change Summary

Wasn't it you who originally asked for this? Spıke Ѧ 11:20 8-Jun-13

PS--Help! Furry's code is willing to modify the RecentChanges report rather than take you to a different page. But I can't see it! On my PC I have:

 .mw-rollback-link A
     background-image: url(Graphics/Rollback.png);
     background-repeat: no-repeat;

Furry changes the text of the A and removes the href. What it seems I need to do is put something after A to not apply to all .mw-rollback-link A. But I don't know how to do it. Spıke Ѧ 19:10 8-Jun-13

Hey man. Been busy as crazy. Don't quite follow what you're looking for - what's the outcome you're after?                               Puppy's talk page10:00 10 Jun 2013

How do I modify the selector in the above CSS to restrict it to <A> for which the text is rollback, or for which there is no href? Spıke Ѧ 11:08 10-Jun-13

Ah. The first option is - as far a I'm aware - impossible, or close enough to make it too difficult to do reasonably. The HTML DOM doesn't recognise the text in a hyperlink as part of that element. When BB and I were looking at the patrol changes issue we had a similar issue, which we ended up getting around by doing a text match to the actual link itself. The second may be doable, but I'm not sure off the top of my head - I'm scattershot at js at the best of times. TBH, I don't know that I have the time to investigate at the moment - literally working every chance I have.                               Puppy's talk page11:15 10 Jun 2013

Recent news from old newspapers

Hey oop!

I had such a good idea for an article that would have required your skills

then I didn't get round to telling you about it
then I didn't get round to starting it
then I forgot what it was.
It's no wonder I never submit anything any more.
Wishing you a Happy belated Canada daySog1970 (talk) 19:00, July 3, 2013 (UTC)
I didn't write an article very similar to that recently myself.                               Puppy's talk page09:29 03 Jul 2013

Biopic contribution

If you haven't done it yet, how about writing your biopic contribution (a paragraph or two about yourself that might be fake, of course) to tell other users something interesting about you? If you decide to do this, the page where you can put it is here. Anton (talk) 08:25, July 14, 2013 (UTC)
