Oh Dear...
Hello, PuppyOnTheRadio, and welcome to Uncyclopedia! Unfortunately, we've noticed that your contributions - not to put too fine a point on it - have been crap. Basically, we think you're a spammer/vandal/10-year-old. But don't despair! We have ways to make you talk.. ahem. I mean, there are ways to get you out of this mess.
- Beginner's Guide
- Our Vanity Policies - why we don't care about your friends
- If you're a vandal, this may be your wake up-call!
- How to be funny and not just stupid
If you read anything at all, make it the above three links. If you want to find out more about Uncyclopedia or need more help with something, try these:
- About Uncyclopedia and The five pliers of Uncyclopedia
- How to get started editing on uncyclopedia
- Everything you ever wanted to know, but were afraid to ask
- Help Pages - if you need help with a specific issue
Good luck and I'm sorry you got off to such a bad start. I hope you enjoy editing here and being an Uncyclopedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or use the "sign" button (
) above the edit box. This will automatically produce your name and the date.
If you need help or think this template has been placed unfairly, please ask me or an admin on their talk page, rather than going bat-fuck-insane. Alternatively you can ask at the Dump, or add the following: {{help}} to this page along with a message and someone will come along and help you if they can. Again, welcome!

Hey Pup
Could you help me write this article? —qzekrom.net16.net clicky! 14:58, August 26, 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry dude. I can't. I've had so many Armstrong jokes thrown at me over the past few days that I can't come up with anything remotely original. Maybe in a week or so, but by then it'll be old news. I'd probably make some references to War of the Worlds, however, as microscopic infection from an alien planet is a major part of the original plotline. (I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the Tom Cruise movie.) 01:01 28 Aug

Hi, thanks for your support of undeletion. :) If you have anything you want to write into that article feel free to, I'd more than welcome it. - Sounded like you had a few ideas? 21:11, August 28, 2012 (UTC)
- Not much that comes to mind. More that I remember reading it and finding it a good first article, and it got a few laughs, which makes it worth keeping. As usual, I have three or four things on the go at once, so I might have a look at it again soon. Personally I'm surprised that it was deleted in the first place. 10:34 28 Aug

- No. We're discussing the possibility of an affiliation program on ZB's TP. —qzekrom.net16.net clicky! 17:42, August 31, 2012 (UTC)
- That same question has been asked over and over since before I started editing here. So I doubt it. As for the affiliation program, or cross site promotion, or anything like that, it's come up over and over, and nothing has ever been done about it. If you want it to happen, then you need to start the ball rolling. Approach your target sites, and get something moving. 02:03 01 Sep

The redlinky thing
I meant to thank you for this a few weeks ago but I forgetted. Anyways, awesome job man. It's bloody fantastic. Also, side note: I think the "ba0000" font color is closer to the one we have on the Uncyc skin if you want to change it. Checked it in the photoshops when I made my sig originally. --FishIsMyHero227 02:04, September 5, 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah - I checked it quickly with MS paint but must have clicked on an edge pixel as opposed to a center pixel when getting the colour details. I'll change it once it's unlocked. 03:23 05 Sep

You did an awesome job, and I wouldn't change a thing. I hope it gets nominated!

Obama
Puppy, thank you for wording a consice and civil response. As for the Obama article, I think it's one of the best on Uncyclopedia but the lead might need some expanding, which is what I tried to do. Also, thanks for the complement; one article that I've been fixing is the one on Baraq Hussein Osama. Alot of the stupid things were removed, and the article is now much more coherent. It's not an FA, but it's getting there. Also, would it be possible for you to delete the article Barack Osama? It's basically the same thing as the other article, only with a bit of exclusive content that I've since moved to the other article. Thanks, --EpicWinner (talk) 11:06, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
- For it to be deleted it needs to go through the VFD process. Given what you've done is a merge & rewrite, it'd be a fairly straightforward process. Once you're auto confirmed (which I think means 5+ days active) then you can add it to VFD. In your rationale for deletion explain that it'samerge and rewrite, and that Barack Osama should become a redirect to Baraq Hussein Osama. This will also show your new article off to the rest of the community. Also add it to Template:Recent once it's "complete". Good luck. 11:23 17 Sep

Regarding User:PuppyOnTheRadio/test I saw that this page linking to an image I was looking at, and so I clicked it and... dude, did you somehow use script to embed every single image on Uncyc or something? Better check my download usage tonight... +yc 08:32, September 19, 2012 (UTC)

- This place has fallen to bits. So much so that the community has become more important than the purpose of the community. I talked about "creating a parody encyclopedia" the other day and it was treated like I was talking about trying to breathe underwater. I can list five times as many good writers who have left this place as I can list the amount of writers with potential turning up. This place has no potential for growth. So I'm out before it closes, creating a record of where it is now, and leaving it at that. When there is only one viable nomination for admin amongst our user base, then the user base is as close to dead as it can get. I've been hanging on for ages trying to instigate even the slightest bit of a push towards growth, and I'm tired of fighting a losing battle. 11:15 20 Sep

- I still get messages when my talk page is changed, and I accept email from users. Having said that, mirror site is the better place for mirror site related discussion, but reCAPTCHA would have to be implemented by Carlb. Personally I'm happy with the changes made to the mirror site to date, and given it already has it's own version of captcha in place, any more would be overkill. 12:39 23 Sep

Hi Pup
I know how you hate Uncyclopedia these days, but if you could come by and do the patrolling once a day for the next coupla weeks, that'd be kewl. Frosty got hit by a car (not joking). He's apparently OK, but will be out of commission for a while. Fractured arms, legs, stuff. ~ Thu, Nov 1 '12 6:36 (UTC)
- I don't hate Uncyc. I came back to do a bit of patrolling not long ago - Frosty buggered off for a few days without telling anyone. Unfortunately, it appeared that nobody cared about patrolling. I did a bit of it, realised the futility, and went back to trying to seduce 13 year olds on facebo- I mean, went back to my real job. I even have bugger all time for the mirror at the moment, and I have about 40,000 images that need to "urgently" be moved across. Also something about going through a relationship separation, and looking for a home, and having been promoted, and trying to seduce 13 yo on f- I mean, on twit- I mean, other cyber interests… to be honest, I'm just fucking exhausted. 09:41 01 Nov
- Well, shit, I guess this place is just gonna go to hell. I'd be involved head-first, myself, but I've got a legal issue needs taking care of, and also I may lose my Internet again at any point. ~ Thu, Nov 1 '12 12:49 (UTC)

HEY YOU!!!
There's a fun whirling ninja star for your to tell all your friends about. Its because of your nOOb of the month idea. Well, it wasn't really your idea. And the community implemented it. And you didn't really do anything except perfect the ideas everyone else had. Really you just formulated it in a way which everyone went and said...yeah...that's it. But thats something worth celebrating in a kind of way. I guess. Worthy at least of a ninja star. Supposedly ;)

- I did not know though I'm not surprised. One of the good things about the site right now, is that the active admins are all fair, nice, relaxed and with only the rare admin hissy fit. Even rarer user hissy fits! You can say that things have sunk, but they've also resurfaced and it is a hell of a lot nicer place than it was a year ago. Nice and relaxed and surprisingly helarious articles are nominated again. --ShabiDOO 03:31, December 19, 2012 (UTC)

VFD
Could you VFD your entire catalog here? This would make it much easier to remove it without having to list every page during FFW. Thanks. And we've been getting rid of the NSFW templates, with one left (it's on VFD). I miss your new pages. But even though I long to see your new pages, I will burn them without a second thought. - Naw, that's why I have all my pages listed on my user page, I can check recent changes on them all. I also list some pages I watch and want to make sure nobody FFW's them. And how does the mirror work, does it copy everything here rather quickly or is there a huge time lag? And are IP's there not allowed to edit? If they do, that should be stopped, just as if most people move away from this site then IP's should be banned. I fear for the site being split, and hope people like you keep the fires burning. - Mirror gets updated semi-manually. I had them up to date as of around 6 months ago, and am just getting back to bringing across the remainder of images. Well, it looks like the site is moving Saturday, so this will be like a mirror site without the mirror. I want to maintain my pages here at least, and really think that wikia should ban IP edits, at least until we see how this shakes out. Vote! Or else!
Is it that time of year again? It's the time when everyone celebrates the people who are the most remarkable amongst us at everything except what matters. It's time for Writer of the Year, Uncyclopedian of the Year and Useless Gobshite of the Year. These compliment our small selection of awards: WotM, UotM, PotM, NotM, AotM, RotM, EGA, FP, PWotM, ANOTM, Top 10 o' the month, UGotM, VFH, VFD, VFS and VFP. Not forgetting of course to all the userspace awards. Writer of the Year got off to a splendid start when Aleister in Chains nominated Funnybony and SPIKE for the award by writing brief but poignant marriage proposals to both of them. Thank goodness for Aleister, if not for him the wider world might have assumed we weren't all massive girls. Since then Thekillerfroggy nominated Xamralco, who was not able to express his appreciation due to a serious case of not editing the wiki any longer. As always what should be a rigorous heterosexual competition involving manly pursuits like backstabbing, lies, blackmail and threats is being irretrievably compromised by people like Aleister and Shabidoo; people whose sole purpose on the awards pages is to make everybody else feel bad about not noticing other people. Uncyclopedian of the Year is being lead by Romartus, Uncyclopedia's voting-in-chief. Shockingly, he was also nominated by Aleister who, as it turns out, is gayer than Christmas, apparently Romartus makes him "Proud to be an uncyclopedian", he makes "Legendary votes on VFH" and gives "Legendary hand relief". Potatochopper of the Year is a more subdued and manly affair, where absolutely nobody has been nominated at all... it's like reviewer of the month were moved to a different page name. Hopefully Aleister or Shabidoo will nominate someone soon, we here at the UnSignpost have gone to the trouble of writing the nomination for them: "<insert name here> has made many fantastic images, at least two of which I have made love to on at least nineteen occasions. My genitals ache for them every single evening and someday they will make my dreams come true and love me! Also Olipro sucks balls." Olipro was the only nominee for Useless Gobshite of the Year (insert your own joke here), but Zombiebaron quickly joined him in ignominy. Please go vote for both of them so they may end up tied, and share the prize (a year's supply of toilet paper) on their revolving bed built entirely from used condoms and KY bottles. From the desk of the Cabal: 2013 is the year of subservience
Once again you all stand before us, another year of failure behind you and another year of subjugation ahead of you. The non-existent Cabal would like to wish you all a happy New Year. All Once again you have failed us, utterly and completely. Last year we advised you all that resistance was utterly unnecessary and, if anything, we have had to tolerate 0.22% more resistance, we have heard you discuss and then decide to leave our kind benefactors, whilst promoting several of your own number to within the cabal in an effort to encourage dissent and democracy within our ranks. We saw you continue to tinker with that which does not concern you whilst simultaneously complaining when people are warned about the indecent images you propagate amongst your number. It seems prudent to remind you that if we delete every single template, every single image and every single forum your freedom will only increase. It is not what some of you have foolishly referred to as "overly deletionist", it is streamlining and it is good for all of you. It is with vague optimism that we note that you continue to strive at a barely satisfactory level, you have certainly earned a small fraction of the baubles and trinkets that have been handed out over the past year. It has not escaped our notice that the Worst 100 Reflections on 2012 only closed on time this year due to Thekillerfroggy skipping sixty of the reflections, we are gratified to note that Roman Dog Bird had practically no input on the list and very few of them regard uncontrolled outbreaks of creativity and morale, such dangerous forces must be carefully rationed and controlled. Cutting of corners and a blatant disregard for regulations do not amuse the Cabal. Now we must inexorably turn our attentions to 2013 and the promise it brings. All users should note that due to several security compromises over the last few months movement throughout the Uncyclopedia complex has been restricted during the hours of darkness. Where major editing is to take place you must ensure that you have faxed the appropriate forms to your divisional liaison officer prior to commencing work, failure to do so will result in an unacceptable breakdown in bureaucracy. Uncyclopedia must prevail, editors must remember that without patient mind numbing work and servitude we can never accomplish our ultimate goal of... well, that need not concern you. That is all citizens, you may now return to your allocated taskings. |

Two Questions
1. How old are you?
And more importantly 2. If somebody has the hots for an Azerbaijani chick, does that count as yellow fever? 22:58, January 3, 2013 (UTC)
- Note: I'm not trying to be creepy, I'm just wondering how old you are. 22:59, January 3, 2013 (UTC)
- Wow, I can't believe it. There's an Uncyclopedia user older than 25! Who would've guessed? (To tell you the truth, and I thought this website's target audience for single white males ages 13-25). And thanks for your pitch-in on the Azeri question. :D 00:03, January 4, 2013 (UTC)
- I'm older than most of the current audience. When I started we had a few older members of the community, but they've all gone off to have real lives. I'm not the oldest Uncyclopedian though. There's at least one older that I'm aware of. 12:10 04 Jan

- Only two regular users who identify as female. And I was thinking of Funnybony, because I have no idea how old Spike is. Although having said that, I think some of the content is ageist, sexist and racist, but as a general rule the community isn't. Keep in mind this site was created as a parody of Wikipedia, which tends to draw more scholarly types, and was created by two individuals of different gender. The content I write tends to aim at a broader audience, although often left leaning politically. 02:14 04 Jan
- There are a lot of users who are college age or younger, and yet I think that some articles are aimed at young guys (the fart jokes, cursing articles, look what I fucking hate, I am an awesome dude look at me articles) ... but a lot of them, including most unnews articles are directed at an older audience. I wouldn't have found most unnews articles funny when I was younger and I wouldn't have gotten several references in many other articles. I am, in fact, always shocked when I find out some users and writers are 16 years old. It's incredible that they can have such a mature writing style and understand intelectual and adult themes so well. --ShabiDOO 05:38, January 4, 2013 (UTC)

Amy Winehouse
That Amy Winehouse article is NOTHING like the Michael Jackson one. It is just an attack against her in every way. My revision cut out the more abusive stuff but didn't kiss her ass at all. It wasn't just a mindless rant consisting of "Amy was ugly, she deserved to die, her music was shit" by the way who the fuck is the original writer of that article to condemn her music that way. I mean its not fair all the other articles about musicians like Freddie Mercury adn Jimi Hendrix kiss their asses. They had tragic lives too you know. Amy's music was not shit why the hell shouldn't she get an article kissing her ass like they did (which by the way my version wasn't even that) I am changing it back. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by some wanker (talk • contribs)
That is not a light hearted parody that is vicious making jokes about her having a misscarriage far more vicious that articles about other celebrities why the hell is Winehouse subjected to that treatment. Funny in a way this website that is so outrageous prides itself on being so controversial is so hateful towards Amy Winehouse for leading a Rock N Roll lifestyle. That Amy Winehouse article looks like it was written by a fucking 19th century puritan terrified of drugs and sex. Mary Whitehouse would be proud of it.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by same wanker (talk • contribs)
- Refer back to step 3 above.
- As to the puritanical outlook, etc., it has nothing to do with why I undid the changes. It's about the funny. The article at present is vaguely funny - but not very. Your changes took the little amount of humour out of it that was there.
- Your first priority - if you want to write here - is to write that makes the funny with the words. Parody is generally about taking something and exaggerating it for comedic effect, or removing an already exaggerated feature so that the surprise gets a comedic response.
- Personally - if I was to write that article - I'd scrap everything that was in there at present. I'd look at what Amy's reputation was during her life. The main aspect that people talk about is the drugs, and the hair. Her singing talent is sadly not the most known aspect of her. And in this case, becasue she lived the rock and roll lifestyle, I'd completely spin that on it's head and say that her life was chaste and pure. She was a good Jewish girl, and she treated all those around her with respect and courtesy, blah blah. Make an article about her lifestyle, and every major aspect of her personal life I'd twist to encompass this new world view.
- What I wouldn't do is mention a single thing about her musical career, except at the very end of it. And even then it would be just a simple "Oh, and she was also a good singer."
- This way you turn the parody around and rather than focussing on Amy, it sheds more light on the culture of celebrity and the way it ignores the value of an individuals talent. It also has a bit of a bite at the people who would write an article like the one that you're trying to censor, but without actually making it any better. 01:13 16 Jan
Thanks mate for the tips I will get on that. Though I disagree that that was the most talked about aspect of her life. I mean do you think that was the most talked about aspect of Jim Morrisons life was his drugs and alcoholism he was way worse than Amy for that he once tried to knife someone he was so pissed. Anyway Mary Whitehouse is not her mother actually she was this gigantic killjoy who tried to get the likes of the Rolling Stones and even at one point the Beatles banned because she hated their drug taking and wild Rock N Roll lifestyle and thought they were evil and talentless pretty much like that person who wrote the article about Amy feels about her. All I was saying was its not a good look for Uncyclopedia to have follow in Mary Whitehouse's footsteps. She even tried to get the Evil Dead movies banned she was that much of a kill joy if she had lived to see Amy she would have gone after her too but this article and others like it take her place. Any way thanks for the tips anyway I will have to get more experience first before I completely re write it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by someone who really dislikes signing posts (talk • contribs)
Not amused
It's been at least 4 years since I wrote an article and I'll be honest I've forgotten everything. If I do something wrong just send me a message until I'm up to speed with wiki again. It was meant to all be in my userspace and just to prove how much of a n00b I was being, I even thought it was in my userspace! —The preceding signed comment was added by Projectmayhem666 (talk • contribs). 12:55, January 16, 2013 (UTC)
Content warning
Would you ever have guessed we'd be helping the censors? And be able to do it for free! Yay!
Worked on the version to polish and shorten it (it seemed way too long), hopefully it retains the same thoughts with less words. I took out the coronary issues, which seemed too grim, some of the words that people may not know the meaning of (no quicker way to lose someone). The entrance button should probably be in the same place and the same size if not larger. I only thought of putting it on Oscar's chest if it was a large pic, but with this size pic maybe just a caption summing up the content warning. I did it in one edit so you can go back and forth and look at the difference. Ball in a slow lob over net, in your court. Aleister 5:58 17-1-'13
- What background color do you think works best psychologically (i.e. to usher the person in as quick as possible). The present pink seems to actually work, although, wait, an image just came to me, can you put the "Alone in the Dark" scary lighting and other stuff onto the page, crackling lightening to play off the theme of "CONTENT WARNING" (scary scary)????? Make the page really scary, or at least minorly scary. And how about that thing with the eyes that you put on the Ghosts never seem to play fair page? Some of that starts to feel really good, jeez, with your coding knowledge it would be a shame just to have a blah content warning background. Al Let our people go
- p.s. Fucking a duck, I just looked at your entrance to Alone in the dark and why not just take out the haunted house, blow the thing way up, and stick the warning and Oscar right in the frame with the clouds moving and the lightning flashing!!! That would be the most awesome content warning on the net, and why should we settle for less than that. I'm scared already, and probably won't log back into this scary place. But above all, the "enter" button (hmmmmm, your push the button thing could be used to enter?) should be large, easy to find, and clickable.
- The way the AITD opening is set up is four different images. The house, clouds and moons are the first image. The lightning flashes are the second image, the bats are the third image, and the lights in the attic (turning off) and the text appearing and vanishing are the fourth image. I can recreate the clouds, moon, lightning - which would probably be all we need - but it'll take a little time. I didn't hold on to the original files (or rather I did but have cleaned out my computer since then.) 07:15 17 Jan
- Sounds good. What do you think of the idea? It might not fit over the whole page (or can it) because on some screens that could be too large. You know a couple times more about coding than I do. So I looked at the code of the page before I wrote the above to see if the house was an extra layer. Scared me so much I locked all the doors, grabbed my guns, and sat in the corner. There I ate peanut butter and crackers for hours, knowing I was ....... Alone in the dark..... Aleister 12:46 17-1
- Actually, the kitties have given me the answer. The trick is a decent sized tile image that fits seemlessly on the horizontal access. The coding for this is less along the lines of wiki markup and more CSS/HTML. It'll take a little work, but pretty sure I can get something decent. And given I don't have the house, the lights, or the moon, I should be able to get a more photo realistic image. In other words, a good stormy sky, but different to AITD, is being created as we speak. 12:54 17 Jan
- Thanks, but I already knew all that coding information. Aleister

You're too kind
I want to express my appreciation for the nomination. It will make it much easier to do my best to ravage your wiki. Never say I didn't try my best, but with you and I working as a tagndem team it will be in shatters before you can say "Rangoon". Mike the Great

That thing you do
So much time has passed since we talked about that thing, so you've got to know that now I'm expecting a Puppy masterpiece. This could be realllllyyyy good. Al 19:57 18-1-'13
- I'm pretty rusty. There are a couple of ideas cooking but I'm hesitant to create anything new here. There's a sentiment at the fork that whatever is created here belongs to the community there as well. They've already shown no respect for the individual. I don't exactly want to write there, but I don't appear to have any choice except to not write anywhere NC-BY-CC-SA. 09:56 18 Jan
- I meant the Content Warning page, what we talked about above. That felt like a masterpiece on the way, one the other site won't use. Al 22:14 18-1-'13
- Hence I'm still working on that, but I'm also still working IRL. 10:16 18 Jan
- Alright. As for other writing, your material is special (and not in the retarded way). If it's viewed anywhere then whomever reads it is a lucky dog (not in a dog way). Al
- I'd started writing here - as opposed to writing commercially - because here there are safeguards against commercial manipulation. The other site is owned by a handful of individuals who have claimed ownership of content. One thing I like about NC-BY-CC-NA is that as the contributor I retain ownership of the content, but I allow it to be reproduced and manipulated by others who hold to the NC-BY-CC-SA guidelines. Given what ZB and Lyr have said in the past about the mirror site, they either don't understand or deliberately lie about their understanding of it. Especially as - given what happened on the fork - they use the same rationale to reproduce the content as the mirror site does, almost word for word. When I was asked to stop importing user pages to the mirror site I did so immediately. I'd thrown out there various times if they had a specific issue then to raise it, but all I kept hearing was “it's illegal”. When I asked for the same in return I was ridiculed, insulted, and lied to.
- The argument of “good for the community” ignores the basic concept of individual respect. A site built upon that kind of disrespect and dishonesty I want to have nothing to do with. I've removed my name from the site - at least as much as I can. (“Puppy” is such a generic name. My name has much more style.) I've removed parts of my contributions to the site. I said I distrust the way the fork is run - it's more that I can understand how fragile a structure is behind a wiki.
- The fork has given absolute power to a small handful of users. The issue I have with the “behind closed doors” is not going against the will of the community - there was a consensus to move to another site - but that the political structure there is hidden. The owners of the site are ill-defined. The hierarchy is extremely fuzzy. The trail of funds to and from the site is non-existent. The ability to ignore the will of the community and the principles of a wiki are not only in place but also part of the status quo. The potential to earn a profit from the site is imminent. (But why throw advertising on there now when you have a community of volunteers ready to increase the popularity - and therefore profit potential - busily increasing traffic flow.) And the similarities between the fork and the structure of ED prior to “Oh, Internet” buyout is huge. And if the wiki ends up being sold - which doesn't require community consensus - who gets the profit from it?
- In short, who now claims ownership of content I deliberately chose to create under the principles of a non-commercial agreement? 11:08 18 Jan

I originally wrote commercially, before I discovered the joys of Writing For No Pay. Those of us in the business world (Aleister, you may listen in) occasionally are enticed to jump to a competitor. And indeed we must consider not just what sort of message it sends, not just taking a public stand against corporatism and for free speech, but the new work conditions, which depend on the integrity, believability, and stability of management; and this fundamentally depends on who holds the reins. Any promises you are given if you jump are moot if "the hierarchy is extremely fuzzy," and once in everyone's career, he throws everything away in favor of a rosy promise that turns out not to be worth the paper on which it isn't written. Puppy presents one possible endgame: that the proprietors either put content behind a subscription pay-wall to cover their ongoing costs (even though they were willing to pay the start-up costs) or sell out entirely to another corporation. We have seen that a wiki where the average page you pull up is mediocre attracts neither advertisers nor a flood of readers, though it faithfully attracts new would-be writers. It will eventually come down to money. Spıke ¬ 00:01 19-Jan-13
- And my philosophy before subscribing to anything is “follow the money”. For all their faults I know where Wikia gets it's money. This new enterprise - unless they start nagging users for donations - has only two viable sources of income (as far as I can see). The creation of it is a single step towards the potential commercialism of non-commercial material. 02:09 19 Jan
Saturday I attended an event and ran into my initial contact there, who is now "interim" director of the entire program. I jokingly asked him to define "interim" and he referred to his corporation's policy that "interim" promotions cannot result in more than a 5% pay increase, which still has him with the full responsibilities of the permanent guy for half his pay. Through the clear message that his ability to do his job doesn't matter, a promotion has turned into a slap in the face. That brought me back to the years where Management never gave us the best tools (decades ago, forced us to share or schedule time on work terminals) and it highlighted the comparative triviality of the Forkers' gripe that stylistically mimicking Wikipedia has to compete with other corporate values. I do not admire the Corporate mind--most recently, the impulse that our suicide articles carry a Crisis phone number--but most of the drama is completely artificial. Those who take the mandate to leave Wikia seriously have no experience with working with people from other departments. They will be eventually amazed to learn that a company run by the (humor) engineers doesn't have sales. Spıke ¬ 04:36 21-Jan-13
- Actually, on that point of suicide hotlines, I think that was a Sannse request rather than a Wikia request. And I tend to agree with her. I don't think it'll remove any of the humour from the article, while it could have a potential humanistic benefit. I added similar to HowTo:Be Happy as a result, given that article stems from my own struggle with depression. I'd never mandate it, but more than happy to add it. Especially as it means I can link to http://fuckyeahpugsincostumes.tumblr.com/ 09:31 21 Jan

- MadMax and others are doing that, probably for the google tracking count. I have a link on my talk page to here - and visa versa - so I can jump in-between easily, and had to reinstate it there, an honest mistake on MadMax's part (they should just use a bot, if that's possible). My damn mouse broke, so I'm using that stupid rub-area on the keyboard to move the pointer around, which is really slowing me up. Aleister 14:16
- I don't think the other wiki was intentionally memory-holing the existence of the wikia site. It has been convention that one can foul up one's userpage so long as it doesn't leak into categoryspace or wiki maintenance. For example, the BUTT POOP!!!! template on my userpage that has been unmolested during my year long absence. When I tried to get hyper-inactive userpages out of Category:Axis of Evil-Doers back in 2011, there was all kinds of objections. Fixing a link on a user page via a bot or mass editing blitz (what myself, Socky, or Madmax) would be acceptable policy. However, it looks like some of the admins were edit warring in Puppy's userspace. --Mn-z 15:58, January 19, 2013 (UTC)

Javascript
Hi, Pup. Did something happen yesterday that would have disabled all the useful Javascript toys, including "patrol all changes" and "send this turkey to QVFD"?
Separately, it is evident from my comments that you are my favorite for my second vote for Admin. However, the issue of pursuing things too personally is important to me and I have been holding off casting that vote to see what else is written. Cheers. Spıke ¬ 16:28 23-Jan-13
- I still have my funky tools, so not that I'm aware. (If yours aren't back then let me know).
- As for the VFS thing - I figured as much. I'm happy for the personal attacks to come at me. I know most of them are directed at what people feel is my “betrayal” of the fork, and the community there. I'm even happy to not end up with the gold jacket as long as a result if it means people can get it out of their system and let their grudges go with their “vindication”. As many times as I've tried to explain my rationale for my actions is as many times as I've been ignored. I'm not after admin status - slightly more power, slightly more responsibility - but I'm not refusing it either. And I'm not going to campaign for it at all. Use your vote in the best interest of the wiki. If it means that Sims becomes admin above me, I'd be wrapped. 11:18 23 Jan
My Javascript stuff still doesn't work. Am resisting rebooting and would not report a bug until I tried that. On VFS, I can sense when something is a personal attack or an attack in the service of the Fork effort, such as some of the "corporate lackey" stuff that is coming at me. But rationales are likewise not my key interest: It is what people do, not their stated good intentions. Like you, I'd be delighted to see Uncyclopedia protected going forward while not having to change my personal routine--but I'd be disappointed to see it unprotected. And finally: There is no "slightly." Spıke ¬ 23:51 23-Jan-13
- Slightly in that it means I get the capacity to directly delete articles and ban users, rather than using QVFD and BP. Also in that I'll be expected to delete and ban based upon the patrolling of others, rather than patrolling for it myself. I'm sure you understand what I mean. 12:01 24 Jan

Cancel red alert. The magic buttons are working now. It may have to do with me having disabled Java (on seeing the news that the US DoD had declared it inherently insecure) or disabling JavaScript to accelerate page loads. Of course, it could be an experiment of Wikia programmers in Poland that a supervisor countermanded, who knows? Spıke ¬ 00:28 27-Jan-13
Content bewarned
Hi. It looks very good. Random thoughts. Should it be scarier by having the "Content warning" in red or in some flashing color. Maybe the enter button should be in the middle of the text, and large enough so people don't have to read or schroll down to find it (have you thought of using your big red button as the entrance point?). I'm too scared to type any more, and if fact if I see that warning I may not enter this godforsaken place. Are you like a devil or something? Aleister 11:59 26-1-'13
- lol, let's feature it too, so the content warning will have a green feature strip in the corner. The second ultimate joke this week (a nazi as an admin beating it by a brush of a wing or the stomp of a boot). Aleister 12:05 then and now
- I was playing with coloured text for it. This edit] was the best red I could come up with (the idea being a blood red), but it makes the body text a nightmare to read with that background. The header itself is fine. There is also the capacity to add a text shadow which will help it be more distinctive though.
- So - as an example, this text is pure white. Best possible contrast.
- This is a slightly greyer colour - around 4%. Not a huge difference, but I find pure white a little too jarring. Bigger text normal smaller text
- This is around 25%. Just for comparison. Bigger text normal smaller text
- My attempt at a dark (blood) red. Harder to read - especially the smaller text. Bigger text normal smaller text
- Slightly lighter red. Bigger text normal smaller text
- Blood red with a 4% grey shadow - offset 1px x 1px and no blur. This works on most modern browsers, but may screw up on older ones. Bigger text normal smaller text
- 4% white with a blood red shadow that is exactly behind the text, but blurs out to 3px. The dark on dark makes the shadow effect fairly useless.Bigger text normal smaller text
- Yeah - I was playing with a few different ideas but not overly satisfied with any of them. 12:22 26 Jan
- Ah, then I am intruding upon an artist at work /looks around, peaks in the back room, steals a brush for a keepsake, trips over easels and paints and gets shoes all the hell fucked up and now there's paint footprints ah fuck, sneaks out the fire exit, damn thing starts sounding, runs down alley, painted footsteps trailing behind Mortimer J. Counsinbumper 12:30

- Yes, the pure white is jarring (AW my eyes?), and that comes into play with the outline of the Oscar pic too. A bit grey is good, if anyone reads the thing. Should the text be in some weird spooky shape, or orange like halloween. Anyway, that's how it looks on my 'puter. Aleister 12:46

- Spooky fonts are an issue. The problem is that for a font to work properly it has to be installed on your 'puter. There are a few font-families that can be played with that are web safe, but nothing that's thematic enough. As for colours - If you can find a good colour combination for the blue-black background, I'll use it. I like the way that the “lightning” plays with the off-white though. Meh - unless I hit something and say “eureka” I might honestly leave the main text as is. Might change the header though. 12:52 26 Jan
Shamed entry
I wanted to check how close you were to 40 features and you're near. I noticed your hall of shame entry has a weird break in the code, leaving a page hanging on my screen, a gap, like a hole, something resembling a cliff where ocean is underneath although nothing to jump into without a rock suit because of the rocks. So your 40th is in the pipeline somewhere. Other things, should we tell the new people about the other site, if they find out from IRC or Frosty or somewhere they may think we're dicks about it. But I guess wikia has the whip and is standing over us, yes mistress, and things get strange from there on in. But we're probably going to need a new way to choose features for awhile. Go for 40, go go go! Aleister 12:06 27-1-'13
- This entry has another problem, made worse on my PC, where I have a custom rule to render any object of type P (paragraph) in a special font. This entry, as in paragraphs where there is a [File:...] smack dab in the middle rather than at the start with a hard break at the end, isn't bracketed by <P> and </P>. I asked Bizzeebeever once, and his response after investigation was a cryptic "Wikia sucks." Spıke ¬ 14:12 28-Jan-13

- Regarding Wikia's decision not to publicize the site, see my dissertation on the date of the Fork. I gave one of the better years of my life to a computer manufacturer to install someone else's command-line interface in the middle of a popular word processor, and the corporation didn't make one TV commercial about it! Wikia promotes itself--If you have good ideas, send them in--and the fact that it does not promote our small corner of it is not surprising. Aleister, as always, a better measure of the value of our contributions than that you believe a Sugar Daddy is right around the corner to underwrite their brilliance, is the fact that we have been making those contributions available for $0 for a long time, and no one is outbidding us (nor even, in my case, putting job offers from national networks on my talk page). Spıke ¬ 14:12 28-Jan-13
- Please don't misunderstand if I'm not misunderstanding you, I don't ever want to get paid for this thing we have. Funnybony said it best when he said we are an adult playground, and you don't get paid to play (look what happened to major league sports when the salaries went up past poverty levels). I tried to get Paul Krassner to write at least one article for us, and he moaned at me about having to pay his bills with his writing. My brilliant plan was to have known satirists and comedians write at least something, and that would be a good PR point. I don't believe a sugar daddy is around the corner, we'd have to go dig one out of the marijuana clubs. Aleister 14:31 28-1-'13
- I don't want to get paid either, to be sure. The above programming assignment was not what I most wanted to do, but I had to in order to eat. If Wikia paid me for my writing, some Suit would eventually decide I was better able to help not at the Mother Ship of comedy but at the Reimu Hakurei wiki, ugh! probably I'd have to purchase some teenage daughters. Regarding Sugar Daddies, you could have been just making a joke; that's always a risk. Regarding celebrity writers, it is still not clear to me whether Wikia aims to develop us as a web destination for readers...or for creative minds. Spıke ¬ 15:09 28-Jan-13
- I think the two of you underestimate the popularity of this site. We're not a household name, but I find that there are enough people who know of Uncyclopedia that mean that we have a certain underground flair. As for celebrity writing, The Chaser, and the pages for each of the members, have been written by someone within the team there. I'm fairly certain Andrew was one of the writers on here. Nich Richardson, who has also written for Chaser and various other projects like “Mr Firth goes to Washington” has also written here. There are likely to be a few more skeletons like this around.
- As for Wikia's intentions - we're around the 12th most popular Wikia subdomain. Whatever we're doing here they want it to continue.
- There are ways to promote the site and to raise our SEO ranking. But we're neer going to be paid for the shit we do here. And I'm only doing it for the groupies anyway. 09:08 28 Jan
- Like I said, a playground for adults. 12th most popular wikia subdomain? Why are there 11 more popular ones? We are writing on top of a treasure of comedy and satire. Oh well. Maybe this is like Phil Ochs, who never had any major media television appearances in his life, although he did have a few tv spots (I loaded up one on his page yesterday). I've never met anyone who knows about us, although maybe I'm running around and around and around in the wrong circles. Al 22:15 28-1-'13
Re: Sustenent
I agree that you are "not trying to nitpick" at User talk:ChiefjusticeDS, and I hope that what you are trying to do is illustrate that Meganew has insufficient command of English to moderate a creative-writing wiki and especially to exert a guiding hand over new users, not that I think he has any intention of attending to such chores if reinstated and elected. Cheers. Spıke ¬ 01:10 29-Jan-13
- Nah. I was genuinely curious. No comment on ability intended. ~~
Our current spammers
The guy who creates pages, in userspace and mainspace, of the form FirstnameLastnameNumeral, uses a different IP each time. As his pages are not commercial spam but random material, often from economics blogs, I don't know how he benefits.
There is another guy who doesn't edit but merely registers a user beginning with "New user" and the current Central European time. These guys might be developing or testing a denial-of-service virus or merely working on a class project at our expense.
But another spammer always places !ENDVALUE! in pages, generally as a new section, accompanied by characters from a set I don't have installed. He is also a different IP each time, but this one should be easy to trap with the Abuse Filter. Spıke ¬ 13:02 30-Jan-13
- The first I'm not sure how it benefits, except that some of his edits do have external links. I wonder if the idea is to get people used to “innocent but random” stuff without links so when they do throw in links they're not as big an issue. (Do we still have a captcha for anon/noob edits with external links?)
- The second is creating a bundle of accounts that become “auto confirmed” after 5 days (and 10 edits, I think). While he doesn't edit with them I don't care.
- That third one is an obvious bot, and not well programmed.
- As for the IP addresses - I hazard that they are proxies. Each block of an IP is usually temporary, and as long as they don't overdo the number of proxies they use they have a fairly good chance on finding one that's not blocked. I've never looked at the auto filter to find out how it works. Frosty seems to be pretty clued in with it though. 01:11 30 Jan
Doggy style
Blanking that article is a short-term remedy I should have thought of. Also, thanks for reverting the recent drama on UN:VFS. I would have gotten a ban, and a lecture. Thing about England is that everyone leaves for lunch at the same hour. Spıke ¬ 14:08 30-Jan-13
- No problem. That edit to VFS was a blatant Rule 2 violation. It was put there to stir up drama. As for the other - I've been threatened with a ban for that in the past. Apparently blanking a page - no matter what the content - is a no-no. 09:41 30 Jan
"No matter what the content"? I don't agree, at least in the case of graphic pornography. However, while you were gone, I reverted your blanking and restored about half of the page, substituting a photo of Spike the Dog (with the caption, Faisant "Le Chien.") The article has been deleted ("Fails QA") despite this softening, no problem.
Would you care to moderate a creative dispute I am having with new user Steamslinger regarding The Big O? He reasserts an addition he first made as Anon that I have reverted as ranty. As he picked a user name, he ought to have the benefit of an independent set of eyes--if you can do so without the Error 504 Gateway Timeout messages of the last hour. You stepped out; Romartus agrees to review this. Spıke ¬ 21:53,22:30 30-Jan-13
Romartus's opinion is that ranty might be appropriate in context. Your review was more detailed and more helpful to the guy. Nothing I would say would add anything, so I consider the matter settled, unless it appears on VFD some time this week. Thanks for the work.
Now on another matter, my most recent addition to Ban Patrol is an Anon who added {{BS}} to lots of pages. WhatLinksNext showed that it has been at the start of Baseball too for a long time. {{BS}} is a template that inserts a random name or random text in a random color in a random typeface. There is a cohort that likes the performance-art benefit of such stuff, but to me it is always a gimmick to paper over the lack of creative writing. Do you think there is any use for this template? With its removal from Baseball, it appears nowhere in mainspace and is an Anon magnet. Spıke ¬ 22:47 30-Jan-13
- There are a few of these kinds of templates that have purpose. Tourette's Syndrome style of articles (I think I picked the right one) use them effectively. This adds two random elements in though - colour and text - which makes it too specific to be useful in context. Or at least, I can see no purpose for its use. No advantage to having it + vandalism tool = VFD worthiness IMO. 10:55 30 Jan
Sure, an article on Tourette's would be just the place for an AI random obscenity generator. But I'll take {{BS}} to VFD. Thanks for the second opinion. Spıke ¬ 23:03 30-Jan-13
Your disgusting habit
I know you have a phobia of voting on VFH, yet with the current state of affairs here the thing needs all the help it can get. And I speak specifically of History of Great Britain, who every Aussie should be honoring with a yes vote. If it wasn't for Britain you would not be living there now, in that paradise on earth, for obviously one of your relatives was a common criminal and was sent to the big Isle as a reward. So please consider putting such a page over the top of the dung heap where it belongs, as well as some of the others. The day of VFH apathy is over (sung to the tune of "The Saints Come Marching In") or downsizing of the votes must occur. Aleister 12:31 31-1-'13
- (And whoring is not a disgusting habit?) In my opinion, Great Britain is already ready; 10 is no longer a magic number and my Cadillac, Michigan went up today with fewer. Separately, again, someone please remove the "thermometer" at the top of the page, which mostly documents its approach to Room Temperature. Spıke ¬ 12:36 31-Jan-13
- If I had a ban stick I'd ban Spike for answering on this page before the user answered. What a disgusting habit. My point was that we have to have some standard for VFH which is below the 10 for awhile. And yes yes, that number does make it look stupid and has no real meaning to anyone looking at the page. Off with its head. Aleister 12:42
- Point taken. Ten minutes or so, I'd suggest. But if you wanted a ban stick the current matter would have been settled long ago. Spıke ¬ 12:45 31-Jan-13
- Separately--and I'll take another 10-minute ban for asking you this here--I see you have been to Beer. I left untouched the original paragraph in Section 4 about Germany and Ireland, but it's really quirky. Can you improve it? Spıke ¬ 12:47 31-Jan-13
- No, now that you have arrived, I despair of having your useful information hidden on User talk:Robstew. Is there any way we could develop an indexed body of help comprising everything from today's template help to our existing signature help? Spıke ¬ 13:00 31-Jan-13
And I was kidding about the answering thing, that's one of the treasured habits at uncy. Playing on talk pages or summary lines should never be a banning offense (i.e. Zana), and even the banter yesterday got the new user on track to talk to you (talk to Spike, not to Puppy, who shouldn't be here anyway but in some prison camp like his relatives) and semi-apologize for his KKK rant. Aleister 13:02 31-1-'13
- Well, it got damned frustrating last night having you run circles around me and my balky Data Suppository on my own talk page! Now we are back to normal (not that my Internet access is good) and we can tag-team new users, one of us playing the Good Cop and one the Bad Cop. Spıke ¬ 13:15 31-Jan-13
- How about "Good Cop, Bad Cop, Lukewarm Cop" lol, dibs on the title. Aleister 13:24 (something like it has probably been done though)
- I've always thought we have a gap in what we give to noobs re wiki-fu. We show them guidelines on behaviour and comedy, but the actual processes of getting your stuff out there and looking good is mainly by trial and error. I had troubles using templates when I arrived. (I still do, and tend to create new code to do what others have done before me as a result.) The “how do I work images” is still not fantastically answered, but almost every noob asks it. And the Wikipedia page I go to is daunting for the uninitiated, even if it is exhaustive. It's also Wikipedia-centric, which means templates they talk about using and other functionality we just don't have. But even when I tried to update UN:HAX I had to give up - the issue is where to stop. And if we're writing Uncyc help pages, they really should be in Uncyc style (like HTBFANJS). And indenting is so passé. 01:27 31 Jan
- HAX is worth its weight in gold. But no, no, no; a new user trying to figure out how to do stuff, like a user trying to navigate to a page or trying to figure out whether he is comfortable entering the site in the first place, is entitled to have us play it straight, and not keep reminding ourselves how funny we are, for just a moment. Spıke ¬ 13:43 31-Jan-13
- I'm talking about having it with some style. I created Uncyclopedia:How to upload a file ages ago to answer the image question for a noob. It's out of date (as “thumb” is now more intelligent than it used to be), but it's still mostly accurate, and doesn't lose itself in humour. If can be toned down a notch, but that is what I'm looking at. Which is why HTBFANJS is a good example. It's straight enough to be useful but amusing enough to keep someone with a comedic mindset reading. 01:55 31 Jan
- Yup, in HTBFANJS, it is not the user needing guidance; we are trying to get the user to do something (be willing to learn how to write humor) and the proverbial spoonful of sugar is justified. Spıke ¬ 14:13 31-Jan-13
Side note
Assume you we're a new member here. You've had a look at the beginner's guide and so you know how to be civil. You've read HTBFANJS so you know how to be funny. You don't know how to navigate the site or to write wiki mark-up. What is it that you wish someone would tell you? 11:17 31 Jan
- What I would say, and have said once, to a brand-new user, is now at User:SPIKE/Welcome. I don't propose to come up with a list of everything he might need to know later--only suggest that we make sure it's all in one place. But this Welcome page, based on that of Romartus, includes a citation of Help:Contents. Maybe all I am saying is that your recent template help seemed useful (like our help with signatures) and should be made a file and linked into this help directory. Spıke ¬ 03:41 1-Feb-13

Greetings Pup. Thank you for the suggestions. Also, you are a very smart apple for noticing my use of Sarcasm, though I wasn't aware of its uses / misuses here (I guess I've been watching way too many Team-Four Star/ Guy with the Glasses videos). I appreciate the headsup + the tips. (I am a Noob to this community, fyi. The only other "Wiki" that I edit on a regular basis is TV-Tropes). -Steamslinger
- No problem. I'm slightly limited time wise, so I'll get back to your talk page when I'm at a more friendly Internet device in a few hours. In short though, I'm happy to see the desire to be constructive. It's a good sign, and reflects well on you directly. 10:19 01 Feb
can you do this thing
I don't know how it's done. Can you take the Writer of the Year Template or whatever it is and make one with Funnybony's name on it with the year 2012? No time constraint, he can wait for its delivery up to and including six months. What's the hurray. I don't know how Lyrtheria did it a couple of years ago, or who did it last year, or before. And how do we go about getting Wikia to put up the new warning template? Would they do it just by us asking, or do we have to bribe someone? Thanks very mucho. Aleister 23:14 1-2-'13
- p.s. Here's the little template, but I mean the pic of the award itself. It seems to be an image, so a new image would be needed. The one I use in on my "stuff" page, and I just have the image itself without the template. Probably each years has a different image, with the name and years carved it somehow. How, I dunno. I just looked and mine is cleaner that this one in the reflection of the "award" glass, somebody must have cleaned it up somewhere along the line. Thanks again.

- Sadly not much I can do. It requires a good potato chopper and I'm fairly mediocre at best. I'd hassle BB personally - one of the best choppers I know. (And 500 times faster than I am.) 12:27 02 Feb
- Alright, but I didn't want to start an us-them controversy (TKF won WotY at FreeUncy, so we have split winners) and BB seems to be among those who may have one-(short)sitedness. Thanks for the tip, I'll ask Lyrthriyaea if anyone because that's who came up with it a couple of years ago. Red Aleister it's always tomorrow somewhere
- If all else fails I can always try the 'chop or create a completely new award. I'd rather not if we can avoid it though. 01:23 02 Feb
