edit NRV

Please use the NRV stamp more sparingly, the NRV is only used on articles with one to 2 paragraphs... not articles that are fully devolped with several sections. I removed a few NRVs that you placed on articles with enough content, however most of the articles you tagged would be better suited on VFD. So, if you really think they're crap, you can go ahead and nom the on VFD. Tompkinssig Smallturtle t o m p k i n s  blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 00:01, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Right... Will do... --Mindsunwound: (F@H) Suppository Sickness Cher Hunt There 2cents.PNG 00:07, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
Sorry.. same thing happened to me back awhile ago. A good policy is if the article less than the size of 2 NRV stamps, it's NRV material. And if you're really looking to cash in on some crap, I'd check Category:Stub, if you go about 500 articles back there's a bunch of really old stuff, and a bunch of them are like 2-3 lines long. No, It's allright, I was under the impression that NRV was intended to let people knw that the article was crap, regardless of size, giving them an opportunity to modify and improve before deletion. --Mindsunwound: (F@H) Suppository Sickness Cher Hunt There 2cents.PNG 00:14, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
Mostly I just ride the Random Page link, tagging as seems appropriate... a lot of worthless crap appears in the random sample. --Mindsunwound: (F@H) Suppository Sickness Cher Hunt There 2cents.PNG 00:17, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

edit Sig fix

Hello. Due to a recent Mediawiki "upgrade," sigs are messed up at the moment and show up on the edit screen as raw code, which is really unwieldy. Please read this thread to fix your sig: Forum:Sigs being subst'ed
Thanks --—rc (t) 02:26, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

thanks for the heads up, i really hadn't seen an issue though...--Mindsunwound: (F@H) Suppository Sickness Cher Hunt There 2cents.PNG 02:56, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

edit PLS judge influencing

By commenting on the articles: NO!! STOP!! NOW!!! Thanks. :D --⇔ Sir Mon€¥$ignSTFU F@H|UotM|+S 15:41, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from commenting on any of the submissions for the Poo Lit contest until judging has finished. I appreciate that you're trying to help, but your suggestions could potentially influence the judging stage. And we'd like to at least keep up the pretence that we're doing this fairly, even if we are accepting battered briefcases of used banknotes as bribes gifts from entrants. Thanks. -- Sir Codeine KUN VFP Bur. MDA NS UotM CM +S (Harangue) 15:45, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

You got it... Mostly I was just bored waiting for the judging to finish up.--Mindsunwound: (F@H) Suppository Sickness Cher Hunt There 2cents.PNG 00:30, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

edit Angry?

I couldn't help but notice that you voted against 22 out of 23 entries on VFH (with the 'for' being for you own article). Are they all really that bad, or is something else? If you're peeved about the Poo Lit, I understand. I submitted two entries and both lost, and no-one's nominated either one for VFH so I can only assume they suck.  :) --Bear 15:19, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

no... I actually read them all... and... okay so maybe I'm in a bad mood... but it has less to do with Poo Lit than you might think, I'm pretty happy that it was one of the ones released into population... Mostly (if attributable to anything Uncyclopaedic) I'm a bit miffed that those who have deemed the article unworthy have not bothered to even comment as to why... and the one that did well... that I can respect... the article does have a very subtle humour that not everyone will follow well... --Mindsunwound: (F@H) Suppository Sickness Cher Hunt There 2cents.PNG 15:24, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
For what it's worth, I wanted to give you a "special mention" for Best Punchline, but I guess they didn't want to get too jiggy with it. Anyway, it was certainly creative, and it was one of the few that actually got an audible laugh out of me. Of course, I haven't been in the best of moods lately either!  c • > • cunwapquc? 02:48, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
I just wish i knew why people don't connect with the piece... that is the hardest part, figuring out what it is that people don't like... Is it the rambling use of first person impersonal, or is it just the fact that it is very long and involved? I know that Man Babies isn't the quick guffaw that some other pages are... *shrug* --Mindsunwound: (F@H) Suppository Sickness Cher Hunt There 2cents.PNG 14:52, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Back..
to the...

Margin. Ahhhh, you're talking about "Man Babies." I was referring to Puppy Luff, actually! Man Babies was very well-written, but you hampered yourself from the get-go by picking a terrible subject. In fact, it was three terrible subjects - gays, poop, and teh buttsecks. I don't think any of the judges, not even me, gave extra credit for the degree to which the subject was challenging for the writer... We probably all gave points for grammar and spelling, though (or rather docked other people for lousy grammar and spelling), but a handicap like the one you gave yourself is really hard to overcome, no matter how good a writer you are.

What really gets me is this, though: Let's say you were to shed just one of those three handicaps by changing San Francisco to Dallas, and gays to oil-company executives. Suddenly you'd have a total winner on your hands - everyone hates Texas oil-company executives these days, you don't have the political-correctness problem, and most people would forgive teh buttsecks references - they're mostly subtle and indirect anyway, but now they're also unexpected. (Though, if anything, they should be more subtle than they are now, maybe a lot more.)

But as to your last point, it is a little too long and involved. Moreover, scientists don't usually write in the first-person plural (or impersonal, whatever) - instead of "Our early attempts to encourage these acts led to savage reprisals from these natives that we would not want to recount..." you'd really want something more in the third person, like this:

"Initially, efforts to encourage the native population to participate in such acts for observational purposes met with mixed results, and in some cases violent reprisals against the investigators."

It's a subtle, yet crucial difference when you're trying to parody scientific writing. (And they always call themselves "investigators" - trust me on that one.) And last but not least, the title is all wrong - instead of "Man Babies," IMHO you should have played up the science angle by calling it "Male-Only Reproductive Biology," or even better, "Human Male Parthenogenesis."

Then again, I could always be totally wrong about all of this! Either way, you shouldn't be so concerned about lack of feedback from others... that's the rule, not the exception. Hell, the only reason the old-timers here pay attention to my stuff is because they've apparently got me totally confused with somebody who supposedly hates them.

Good point... the only thing I would say is that I wasn't so much trying to parody the scientific voice as the self important naturalist / anthropologist... which while I was trying to copy the mode of speech used by my Anthro Profs, I used (probably a mistake) The Life Aquatic's distracted self important narrative style as the final rule of thumb on syntax... --Mindsunwound: (F@H) Suppository Sickness Cher Hunt There 2cents.PNG 00:51, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

edit The Root of All Evil

I wish I could change the title, but it's all about building a holiday resort out of that cursed tree. I appreciate you not voting against me, though.  :) --Bear 01:39, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Maybe I need to re-read it... I'll re-read it tomorrow... proably... --Mindsunwound: (F@H) Suppository Sickness Cher Hunt There 2cents.PNG 01:51, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Why in the hell did I get a notice that I have new messages on furry? Why would I want to have anything to do with you unnatural freaks of nature? Leave me alone! I'm an Uncyclopedian!
