Thanks

Thanks for your note on my page. Yes, the Summer is going very well (except for computer problems which keep me off line most the time). I've never been to Greece, and that would be nice too, especially given the historical nature of the heritage and amazing connections your country has to civilization, thought, and olive oil. Ummmmmmmmmm, olive oil. I use it almost every day, it's one of the food of the Gods and Goddesses! I hope your summer gets better and better too. Aleister 15:48 11-7-'13

Category:Things that God hates according to Fred Phelps

Hi! Would you please go easy on this Category? It doesn't really help anyone find any article. All it is good for is rubber-stamping on multiple pages the joke that Phelps is a dope. Spıke ¬ 19:31 11-Oct-13

Go easy? I only categorized two pages. Anyway, I won't do it again if it's such a big deal. I just thought it was a nice way to satirize Phelps' and his alikes' strict approach on these issues. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 20:18, October 11, 2013 (UTC)

It's not a big deal. But writing original comedy is better. Cheers! 20:23 (PS--Or just keep up the good patrol work on anonymous edits!) Spıke ¬ 21:34 11-Oct-13

Women Deficit Hypersexuality Disorder

I put {{ICU}} on this new article, with editing instructions. Why did you call it "spam" at QVFD? Google shows no evidence that it is a viral email or anything like that. Is this joke stolen from another website? Spıke ¬ 09:52 12-Oct-13

It is spam. Some weeks ago on the other Uncyclopedia, spambots and anons created like a shitload of articles with similar titles every day. Pretty sure I've even seen one with the exact same title. The reason you can't see anything about it on Google is because they all got deleted after a couple of days. That thing continued for about, a week or so and the way I see it, you might be experiencing it too in the next days. Anyway, even if you don't consider it spam, I believe it's pretty QVFD-able the way it is. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 10:11, October 12, 2013 (UTC)

Spambots do seize on recently deleted page names and reuse them for stuff that is more clearly spam. This article has faults but it is a credible attempt to write a funny article. My {{ICU}} tells the author what it needs; if he ignores it, the article goes away in a week, and I will certainly delete exact duplicates of this. But thanks for the catch. Spıke ¬ 10:21 12-Oct-13

You're welcome but please, show me one part, even one sentence, of the article that points to the direction that there was at least an attempt to make it funny and enjoyable, rather than inform the reader about Women Deficit Hypersexuality. I've read almost the whole article and I failed to find any evidence that this is not spam. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 11:03, October 12, 2013 (UTC)

It is not a funny article; it is a hoax. I told the author via {{ICU}} that it either needs more jokes or less volume; if neither happens, I am eager to delete it in a week. This lacks clear bad faith, as in real "spam" which, most often here, is commercial spam, bad Google translations of stuff we didn't want to know, or effusive and insincere "thanks for your helpful article!" Let's wait and see. Spıke ¬ 22:00 12-Oct-13

This is now deleted. If it was you who listed it on QVFD, thanks for the reminder. Spıke ¬ 11:28 22-Oct-13

Work for you

VFD is over 20 ballots (but under 20 active ballots). Please don't wait the 12-24 hours but give it expedited poopsmithing or I will start getting messages demanding the banning of the new nominators! Spıke ¬ 11:28 22-Oct-13

Yikes!!! That was quick! Spıke ¬ 11:39 22-Oct-13

Actually I had already started archiving them a couple of minutes before you told me to. (what a coincidence huh?) --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 11:45, October 22, 2013 (UTC)

I closed the vote on "I eat my own shit" and did some of the poopsmithing because {{Oldvfd}} needed a more detailed "result". Spıke ¬ 11:23 23-Oct-13

What do you mean by "closed the vote"? If you are refering to the nomination, it's still open and unlocked. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 11:33, October 23, 2013 (UTC)

No, it isn't, because the link (section heading) is red, because I didn't leave a redirect to the article's new home in the Why?: space. You can move it to the archive when you see fit. Spıke ¬ 11:36 23-Oct-13

VFD for Admins

Good edits. Your -3 in fact is the current policy, misstated by me. If you were really changing the rules, you ought to do so with a Forum. The numbered section heads is an improvement over my unnumbered, especially now that there are so many; however, as the Poopsmithing is going to a different audience, I changed that to no longer be a subsection. Spıke ¬ 14:58 27-Oct-13

PS--I post-edited this to say that consensus-to-keep is an Admin call, as this will vary with participation. It's not important, as consensus-to-keep and no-consensus-at-all have the same effect: The article is kept. Spıke ¬ 14:50 29-Oct-13

Hell's MasterChef on QVFD

No, it is not merely humorless; it must have come from some other wiki, with tweaks by the contributor designed to be funny. I have asked the creator for details. Spıke ¬ 14:49 29-Oct-13

Well, aren't you, at least, going to add {{ICU}} or something? --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 18:45, October 29, 2013 (UTC)

Not right now. Author Doracake has fixed most of the red-links (one of the three complaints I made on her talk page). Simsilikesims is more able to detect stuff sporked here from other websites, is more in touch with modern television culture, and has an outlook different from mine. Let's find out what she thinks of this. Spıke ¬ 19:08 29-Oct-13

The article is definitely not from mirror uncyc. It may possibly be a spork of a Wikipedia article, but I haven't figured out which one yet. It seems related to Masterchef on Fox network, and the table seems reminiscent of Wikipedia articles on various seasons of Hell's Kitchen. The article title is clearly designed to blend the two shows, but the show described sounds like Masterchef (U.S. TV series), ie the version starring Gordon Ramsey. -- Simsilikesims(♀UN) Talk here. 20:24, October 29, 2013 (UTC)

Well, I think attaching {{ICU}} won't achieve much (apart from giving us authority to delete it in 7 days), as it seems Doracake has done what she set out to do. And, in contrast to my initial remarks here, I don't think it is humorless; I think Doracake has tried to do an article that makes sport of the TV show. Apart from the early, tiresome list of contestants, I don't have a big problem with it; do y'all? Spıke ¬ 20:33 29-Oct-13

No, I guess. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 20:40, October 29, 2013 (UTC)
No, but I'm not sure how helpful the results table is to the article other than that it has been done on Wikipedia and other wikis when describing the tv show. -- Simsilikesims(♀UN) Talk here. 20:44, October 29, 2013 (UTC)

If the table strengthens the article's superficial resemblance to Wikipedia, while the text is pure crap, then Doracake is in fact doing what we say we do here. Spıke ¬ 20:51 29-Oct-13

"Archiving the new way"

Would you please defer the new way until we have a new archive file, named in the new way? That is, switch everything over together on 1-Nov? Spıke ¬ 21:00 29-Oct-13

So, what I was supposed to do was make all those nominations look like they used to before we changed to the new VFD system? That'd consume too much time and the ballots at VFD were 20 already! --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 21:06, October 29, 2013 (UTC)

Push present on VFH

Romartus and I have each added a paragraph to History based on English history/folklore. This might address the concerns that made you vote against it. Spıke ¬ 02:21 30-Oct-13

I'm sorry but it's still too small. In my opinion, it needs at least one more section. I like the humour in it though and that might be enough to change my vote. We'll see. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 14:00, October 30, 2013 (UTC)

"Archiving the old way"

I don't know that you did, I just read it at RecentChanges. But, if you did, thanks! If I read the signs aright, it is only 10 hours that you will be able to poopsmith "the new way," and create the first-ever Archive with the new-style name. Lucky you. Spıke ¬ 14:13 31-Oct-13

About that, should the new archive be Uncyclopedia:Votes for deletion/Archive-2013-10 or should I use another title? --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 15:09, October 31, 2013 (UTC)
In about 4 hours any closed or deleted nom will show a link to "Archive" which will lead to Uncyclopedia:Votes for deletion/Archive-2013-11, and create a new section to edit. The way I was planning to use it was open that in new window, and then edit the section of VFD, and then simply cut from one, paste into the other, and then save.                               Puppy's talk page08:03 31 Oct 2013

So, the whole archiving procedure is, basically, the cut-paste we know and used before the new VFD system? --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 15:28, November 2, 2013 (UTC)
Watch this for long enough and you'll feel like you've just been archiving stuff all day long. It's hypnotic.
It's almost impossible to set this up to do the archive with any further tweaks. This is honestly the easiest way I could come up with to do this.                               Puppy's talk page03:58 02 Nov 2013
Got it! Thanks a lot for the detailed instructions! You couldn't be more helpful! --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 16:15, November 2, 2013 (UTC)
For our extra appreciation (not that you don't already have a lot of it!) put this pictorial tutorial somewhere more obvious than a talk page that Mimo will, some day, archive. For instance, in a sub-page of VFDA. Spıke ¬ 16:19 2-Nov-13

TOC

Mimo buongiorno! Χρειάζομαι την near-native level :P γνώση των αγγλικών σου. Τις τελευταίες μέρες παρατηρώ πως το TOC (table of contents) στην Uncyclo εμφανίζεται απλωμένο (wide) σε όλη την επιφάνεια της σελίδας και δεν λειτουργεί το εμφάνιση (show) - απόκρυψη (hide). Wikia did some updates to MediaWiki, which impacts Uncyclopedia differently to the way it impacts other Wikia sites. It's not an admin thing, and it has already been forwarded to Wikia, who are looking into it. Google translate is crap!                               Puppy's talk page07:45 02 Nov 2013

Nuclear weapon

You edit-conflicted me and I overrode you. I promised in the summary to reapply your edits, but:

  • We were both rearranging the illustrations, and I went further, adding one.
  • The Bush/explosion illustration should not go to the start of the section where you moved it; it should stay where it was so that it will be mostly at the right of the section that talks about Bush. Spıke ¬ 15:48 2-Nov-13

You're right about Bush/explosion but I still think File:Microwave.JPG and File:Limited.gif should trade places because of the big blank in the prologue, caused by the size of the latest. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 16:29, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

See if you like what I have now. I forced the Table of Contents into the blank space. Spıke ¬ 16:32 2-Nov-13

Yes, it's better now. One more thing; Consider removing an image (definetely not the first one) as it looks a little overfilled with them. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 16:45, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

My fault for editing on a portrait monitor (640x1024). I'll take a look on a screen that's 1024px wide. Spıke ¬ 16:47 2-Nov-13
Doesn't seem bad there either; there's even more separation between the first two pix, and none of them stack up nor interfere with {{Wikipedia}}. Not that any of these screens are what you'd call modern. Spıke ¬ 16:50 2-Nov-13

Template:Nuclear

Cheers for adding the v • d • e to this. However, they are all alone in a new column on the right. Can you remedy this? One way would be to have the list of links to pages be a colspan=2. Regarding the new colors, I dislike them roughly equally to the old colors. Perhaps a border? Spıke ¬ 17:32 2-Nov-13

Yeah, um, you better talk to Puppy about that because I'm a total idiot when it comes to coding (or whatever it's called). All I did was copy the v • d • e parts from Template:Europe and then paste them to Template:Nuclear(thus the yellow text). I'm sorry. I really I wish I could be of help. As for the new colors, I completely agree with you. What do you have in mind? --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 17:43, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

The colspan=2 was a breeze. I also found a more graphic graphic. Spıke ¬ 17:48 2-Nov-13

PS--What's going on here is that, when you added VDE, you created a new (third) column. colspan=2 specifies that the main body of the template "spans" columns 2 and 3. Also, I had to declare your column to be width=0; that is, to take only the space absolutely necessary to hold your text. That way, "The Nuclear Family" continues to be centered on the entire remainder of the space. Spıke ¬ 17:50 2-Nov-13

That's the thing. You moved v • d • e a little to the left and now The Nuclear Family is not in the centre of the template. Also, nice touch with the new image! --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 17:53, November 2, 2013 (UTC)
PS-- I've got an idea on the colouring. Since the image you added has bright fluorescent green, how about we make the background black and the letters same colour as the nuclear trefoil? --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 18:11, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

Fine with me. "The Nuclear Family" is in the center of Column 2. It will be very hard to get it in the center of the template on everyone's screen, as Column 1 and Column 3 are not always the same width. Spıke ¬ 18:30 2-Nov-13

I changed the Background & text colours. What do you think? --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 21:05, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

Equally ugly as my new illustration! Spıke ¬ 21:24 2-Nov-13

You have an acquired taste my friend! Okay. How about we replace your illustration with this and then make all the text yellow? I can't think of anything else.. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 21:29, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

Go wild. This doesn't seem to be an animation. MediaWiki won't support animations (such as the one I was using) plus scaling to a certain size. Spıke ¬ 21:41 2-Nov-13

I tried the yellow nuclear trefoil and it looks even worse. I say we leave it as it is. I can't come up with something better. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 13:35, November 3, 2013 (UTC)

It looks okay if you scale it, as I just did. The ragged border might be fixed if this were a .PNG instead of a .GIF--still, the animation was sort of cute. Spıke ¬ 13:43 3-Nov-13

File:Images (1).jpg

It strikes me that several people (over history) were trying to use this filename for several different purposes and fighting with one another. Maybe you should put your "better" upload under a more descriptive name. Any change you make by uploading a new image takes effect on all the pages listed there. Spıke ¬ 20:12 2-Nov-13

You're right. I suggest you delete it and then I'll re-upload the current and all the previous versions of the file, under different names of course. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 20:45, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

Do you have access to all the versions? Surely you won't after I delete it?! Spıke ¬ 20:49 2-Nov-13

Yes I do although I've started reconsidering uploading all the older versions. I mean, other than this and this, all the other images haven't been used in a page and probably won't. Should I upload only these two or should I do as I said earlier? --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 20:54, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

Just the two, I think. When you give them new names, Images (1) will be an orphan and I'll delete it. Spıke ¬ 21:24 2-Nov-13

Done! --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 21:32, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

No you aren't, because four pages still reference Images (1). 21:43 2-Nov-13 No, I got two of them, and we'll ignore the two in userspace. Spıke ¬ 21:55 2-Nov-13

Thank you for poopsmithing VFD! Seems you have found a nice thingie for your user page. I should have dug up such an award for you! Spıke ¬ 13:23 6-Nov-13

Though you might not be able to create humor, you certainly know bad attempts when you see them, and I appreciate your nominations and votes. Leda Bort, on the other hand, is a very new user who is good at English but doesn't seem to know what she wants to do here — perhaps you could make suggestions. Spıke ¬ 18:09 6-Nov-13

If writing is her thing, I'd be the worst guy to give advice, considering my career as an author.. *sigh* Maybe you could, like, collaborate with her in creating an article? It seems to me that this would be a good way to get her started. Dunno. Anyway, it'd definitely be for Uncyclopedia's best interest if she starts writing soon because it'd be a shame to use a user with such good knowledge of English to patroll Recent Changes and nominate articles for deletion. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 18:34, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

Microwave joke

It may help you understand the joke to know that we sometimes refer to putting food in the microwave oven as "nuking" it, though there is no radioactivity involved. So if you leave the microwave unattended, you presumably get a nuclear explosion. The file should not contain this explanation, though; photos we steal should not be a self-contained joke, because most of the time the people who upload these are not creating a joke but stealing someone else's joke — as this file basically does. Spıke ¬ 18:07 6-Nov-13

Should I re-upload it then? By the way, not only the text explains the joke, leaving nothing for the caption, but it's so also really ugly! Bad combination. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 18:41, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, either crop this without the text, or find a photo of a nuclear blast that doesn't look like a top view of Bozo The Clown's bald spot. Spıke ¬ 19:14 6-Nov-13

I updated the file but something's wrong... It looks like a stretched version of the previous image (the one with the text). --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 12:57, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Megaton mega-upload

On your new mushroom cloud: This photo is listed as 5,137 × 2,696 pixels! I'm pretty sure Uncyclopedia doesn't download 2.63 MB to me every time I view the page, but the precision of this photo is lost on most of our screens. It might speed up processing on the Wikia end to resample it at a lower precision before uploading it, and it might save you time or money uploading it. Spıke ¬ 13:27 7-Nov-13

I have yet to see the image working properly but its length doesn't seem right to me. Ah, forget it. I'll just replace it with the original Bozo The Clown version, minus the text. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 14:11, November 7, 2013 (UTC)
Wikia will cache the smaller version of an image, and that's all that loads when a page is opened, so it significantly reduces the loa time and data load. I only mention this as there is a mushroom cloud image in Love that I took from Wikipedia which is gigantic, but I kept at the original size as it was a featured image there. If you're after a mushroom cloud image that one has a bit more photographic credential than most.                               Puppy's talk page04:16 07 Nov 2013

Yes, it is, and if you could remove those ugly and unfunny illustrations it'd be even better. Anyway, I'm striking my vote out. Good work. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 21:22, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

But I have worked the first one into the text, and given the big-eared one a decent caption. Spıke ¬ 15:37 20-Nov-13

The, better than decent, caption one the second one changed my mind about removing it but I still think it's pretty ugly. I could try potatochoping it into something better only I don't know what would that be. Any suggestions? --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 15:47, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

None at all. The big-ear shoop, plus my segue to Obama's dislike of big-ear jokes, hangs together but neither has anything to do with Gabon. The inclusion of Jay Leno and the backdrop of New York City are further big distractions. If you crop it, all we have left is a black guy with huge ears. Yesterday you added to the article a black guy without huge ears (and then took it out). That didn't relate either. If you see any photo remotely funny in the Wikipedia article, move it over and leave it to me to write a caption for it. Spıke ¬ 16:01 20-Nov-13

PS--The article very much needs a photo of a black guy in regal regalia (like Eddie Murphy in Coming to America), especially shooped to look as though he's been dead for five years. Spıke ¬ 16:07 20-Nov-13

The black guy I added yesterday is actually Omar Bongo, President of Gabon for 41 years and the man Will Smith is supposed to depict, so, yeah, I'd say it was related.
On that other thing, how's this one for you? I found it by searching Coming to America on Google Images. I know he doesn't look like he's been dead for five years (What exactly did you mean by that?) but if you want him to look, uhm, dead (or dead-ish), I can take care of it. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 16:30, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

I meant nothing more than the literal; the storyline in the article is that Omar Bongo has been preserved on his throne to still wave to visitors. I don't have permission to follow your link to imdb, but I am sure you will do fine with it. Spıke ¬ 16:46 20-Nov-13

Pie a la mode

You must be watching me! Thank you, a larger "pie chart" will be helpful! Spıke ¬ 15:36 20-Nov-13

No problema. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 15:48, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

Kissing business

You asked Spike to kiss everyone from yourself but you did not consider one thing: Russians always need a personal kiss.

I do not share this Russian attitude however and this is just a good excuse to leave a goodbye here. Hope to see you later! Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 16:12, November 22, 2013 (UTC)
