Bothered by "Swami Bhaktivedanta Prabhupad"

Please explain. Richmond

I was bothered by the improperly formatted quote. You see that I changed it to use the Q template. In the future use that to make quotes, because it is prettier. -- -QuillRev. Isra (talk) 23:16, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Sorry Guv! I'm a new boy here. Mind you if the only thing that bother you about Swami Bhaktivedanta Prabhupad is an improperly formatted quote I guess we can all sleep safely tonight!

Not a problem. The page kept coming up under the pages that I flag and so I kept seeing the header. I haven't actually read it because it didn't look done. When it is, you'll probably get a few more notes (like for instance, don't use external images.) ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 23:48, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Oh, Blast! caught me at it! If you could tell me how to transfer a non-copyright image across to your server then . . .

If you are a logged in user you can use the Upload File link in the toolbox on the left side of the page. You have to copy the file to your computer first, I believe. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 23:54, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Why did you delete Jeork from Uncyclopedia, have you never heard of the legend of Jeork? Clownshoe was only telling the tale of a musician that existed on the basis of god existing. If god can exist why can't Jeork?

Jeork appears to be about a non-notable person and thus vanity, which is why it was speedily deleted. If it is actually about a fictional person or some famous person who is slightly disguised, then it may stay, but only so long as it is funny (and not just to a couple of people) and it has its formatting cleaned up to meet a sufficient standard of quality. Currently, it does not meet either of these criteria. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 23:47, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi Izzy, thanks for your support for my WOTM campaign, even though you yourself are nominated! --Sir Slackerboya CUN VFH (talk) 01:15, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

No problem. I like your work and nominated you. I think Tompkins failed to notice that I had already done so when he nominated me. But don't think it is entirely selfless: it's all part of my devious plan to knock out my future competition by making them already have won. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 01:28, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Vanity, thy name is Simon Budden. Or is it?

I assume you closed the Simon Budden article because you assumed it was written by the good Mr Budden himself- however, it was not, and I ask that we may re-submit it. He's something of a growing folk-hero, and we wish to spread the word of his arrival to the greater world. Wikipedia were having none of it, and we thought Uncyclopedia was our salvation... please dont dash our hopes, good sir...

"Vanity" is our name for any article about a non-notable person. One of our first criteria is "does it have a wikipedia article." If this is an inside joke that is funny to a group of people, then I can restore it and place the acceptable vanity tag on it. If you want it to stay without any vanity dsignation, then your only hope is to make it a funny read to anyone, regardless of whether they know this person or are in on the joke. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 23:40, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

May Cthulhu bless you for your excellent addition to the Ask Cthulhu article. It was the joke that was set up and for some reason wasn't completed. Your contribution made the post.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 19:13, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

Top 10

Did u add Midget cockpunching terrorists to the top10 voting list? I think we at least all agreed that articles featured after the page was created shouldn't go there.--Rataube 01:58, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

I did not. I only added the asterix. If it was featured after the page was created, I believe you have the consesnus needed to remove it, and encourage you to do so. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 02:25, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Did a little research. Midget Cockpunching Terrorists was featured the same day Top10 was made, and Tompkins included it from the very start. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 02:31, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Ok. I'll leave it then. Sorry to bother--Rataube 02:38, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Not a problem. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 02:51, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

For the OCD vote. No problem with it being late... my "For" votes are often the same way. With limited time for reading enjoyment, I tend scan for bad articles, but hold off on voting for ones that seem okay. Then I wait and see which ones are holding up well to the bullets. THEN I'm almost guaranteed to enjoy whatever is loitering around on the lower half of the list. It leaves me more writing and deleting time.  :) P.S. Sorry about not getting the "murse" thing at first read. My proofreading brain area resides in a different neighbourhood from my humour region, and generally they don't talk at the same time.  :) ~ T. (talk) 05:18, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I know how it goes. My strategy is to occasionally go through the list and try to put a vote on most of them. OCD was an enjoyable read. And thanks for the proofreading. I really need to do some of that myself before posting, but it makes me glad that someone cares enough about the article to look at it for spelling and grammar. ---QuillRev. For avoiding more trial and error on redirect standards: What about creating a disambiguity page on China consisting of

 • PRC
 • WRC
 • Taiwan

? --Suresh simple Swami A. Suresh 23:30, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Do it. I believe China is currently a redirect, so you can put the disambiguation page there with no problem. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 23:32, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Done. And thx for explaining redirect policy.--Suresh simple Swami A. Suresh 23:52, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Also, for the future. When making a redirect to an older page, first go to "What links here" in the toolbar. It will show all of the redirects to the page (which will become broken when you do the move). They need to be cleaned up when you do a move. Also, the policy is generally that redirects are not a medium for humor. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 23:39, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Also also to both of you: I had to clean up after you both. You ended up with the PRC history in the WRC page. THIS IS BAD. So I fixed it. Don't move pages to spork them, and isra: Move them back if someone does (like in this case) and then copy the infolets to the sporked page ^_^. --Splaka 02:34, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
I pondered whether to do that or not. I chose wrong. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 02:36, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

[Referring to "Hitlerbear"]... This postmodern reflectionization upon the meta-conceptual identification of art succeeds not only in challenging our preconceptions of artisanship but also in the decontextualized profligation of ironic deconstruction of the very idea of humor. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 04:29, 2 Jan 2006 (UTC)

But aren't you concerned about the debasement of modern quasi-cultural iconography as expressed within a sterile and dystopian perceptual framework? Oh shit, I just spilled Pinot Noir all over my thesaurus. --Johnny "The Wikinator" Raven 05:02, 2 Jan 2006 (UTC)
Not at all. The modern fragmentation between narratives of reality has served to relativize cultural signifiers to such a degree that "debasement" only effects an additional contruction. By reappropriating meta-iconographic elements, the piece productively reconstrues the creative roots of society, shattering the artificial dualisms of good and not good and mockery and sincerity. Glad to hear about your thesaurus: by liberating yourself from the pre-existing vocalizations of hegemonic discourse you can truly embrace the psuedo-arolect of the postmodern zeitgeist. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 10:46, 2 Jan 2006 (UTC)
What modern narrative fragmentation? On the contrary, mass-media psychomanipulation and corporate consolidation has only served to reduce message-diversity in nearly all metacultural contexts. The "postmodern" model of artistic validity is itself merely an artificial construct whose own validity is increasingly called into question by the growing globo-homogenization of socioeconomic values. Besides, there's no such word as "arolect," pseudo or otherwise. (I even looked it up, just to make sure.) --Johnny "The Wikinator" Raven 22:51, 3 Jan 2006 (UTC)
There is if you misspell "acrolect." I'd love to go on like this but I have run out of meaningless academic buzzwords to make fun of. Good show with the responses though, since even I don't know what I said. By the way, have you figured out yet that this entire nomination is just like this conversation: completely fake and satirical? ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 23:50, 3 Jan 2006 (UTC)
First of all, why doesn't "Katie" ban you for writing this sort of shite? Putting aside the fact that she started it, this is important. "Acrolect" makes even less sense in this context, and I think you know exactly what you were saying. And no, I don't get the joke, yet again, especially when Aja-flag.jpg, bermuda.gif, Coolidge.gif, and Hello kitty toilet.jpg are already being featured!
I keep saying this, and people are going to persist in thinking I'm a pretentious asshole for saying it (which is something I'll just have to deal with), but a lot of us are spending a lot of time on these images and these articles, and not only is there no consistent quality standard, but the nominating, the voting, and even the counting of the votes appears to be completely arbitrary and based on either personal favoritism (what a shock) or someone's personal idea of what's good and what isn't. Since we're obviously not allowed to actually have fun here anymore (fun - what a quaint concept that was!), all thanks to people like "Katie," then maybe it would be nice to get some recognition for at least trying to be funny - but noooooo, we can't have that either. So you'll never, ever see me on VFP ever again, or any of the other bogus VF-whatever pages. Unless, of course, someone re-nominates that shitty atheist article. --Johnny "The Wikinator" Raven 00:31, 4 Jan 2006 (UTC)
1) I am not privy to the reasoning behind the actions of the admins. I suspect the reason I have not been banned is that I have followed the rules, behaved in a respectful manner, and personally tried to clear up any misunderstandings I have with the admins. You, however, have acted in a disrespectful manner on multiple occassions and that may have contributed to the impatience which several admins have shown with you. They are, after all, only human, and tend to respond negatively when they believe someone is acting in bad faith.
2) Hitlerbear was nominated as a spoof of the rash of often-poor self-nominated pictures on VFP. Katie stated categorically in the IRC channel that under no circumstances was it to actually be featured. While that was not stated on the page, the glut of comments from other prominant Uncyclopedians lavishing ludicrous amounts of praise on it was intended to convey that the nomination was not serious. My own comment was intended to do just that, affecting the language of a pretensious post-modern art critic. That is the resaon for all of the fake words in my post. When I saw your original comment I assumed you had gotten the joke and were playing along by refuting what I had said in similar language. I laughed out loud at the Pinot Noir quip.
3) Acrolect: stupid joke. Scratch that: failed stupid joke since I couldn't even type it right. Acrolect is a term for the "high register" of a language, and the academic jargonese that I was attempting to replicate seems to me to be a false attempt at writing in that register. Thus pseudo-acrolect. Now doesn't that proove how funny I am when my jokes make no sense until I give a bad explanation of them?
4)Regarding your comment about how people spend a lot of time and effort on art and articles and we should feature them and not a lot of meta-stuff or other crap: I agree with you, which I have stated on VFH before. Notably several others have echoed that sentiment, including the big man himself. What makes people think you are an "asshole" is the way you say it. If you wouldn't insult people or act self-righteously, then you would pull a lot more weight around here.
5) Regarding vote counting: no, there isn't a set of rules set in stone. As the site has grown the standards have had to change some. Nevertheless, I assure you, Rcmurphy has a system which he follows faithfully and fairly. I saw your comments earlier on VFH incinuating that someone was practicing favoratism by holding Nike Revolution back. That is simply not the case from a mathematical perspective. I do the tallies myself nearly every night and I can attest that they are followed.
6) On other quality issues: I am not sure what you mean, honestly. Obviously in any human democracy it will be people's personal opinions that guide their nominations and votes. I don't see why that is bad. As far as favoring certain people, well, there are only so many authors out there on Un, so people are going to get a feel for which contributors' work they tend to enjoy and will naturally give those people a bit more slack. No different than in the book world.
7) I will admit that not all of the admins are so perfect on the VF- pages. As humans they have some flaws. But as you might see from the VFH and VHF talk pages, I have tried to get admins to minimize any favoritism. I even saved a nomination based on the fact that you had just voted for it.
8) The atheist article: I didn't like the article either, and I didn't particularly like Nerd42, but doesn't he deserve the same fair process that you want? Simple for and against votes would have sufficed to kill that nomination eventually and there was no need to turn the voting page into a forum for rants. That sort of thing is tolerated more on VFP, which is less crowded, and whose submissions do not have talk pages that are regularly used, but in VFH discussion tends to make things more difficult in vote counting.
I hope this addresses some of your questions and you were right to take this discussion here to my talk page instead of continuing it on VFP. The thing to remember is that with Hitlerbear we were trying to have fun. When you started throwing insults about, it stopped being fun and that made people unhappy with you. Banning is not some sort of mortal punishment: the admins often dole out one day bans so that people will cool down. Plenty of people have recieved bans but are now on good terms with the admins.

New American Justice Coalition

Isra, I was on an epic quest to find something to put up for featuredom that had nothing to do with either Euroipods or stupid jokes, and I came across your incredible article. The Truman Torch stuff was good, and it goes so much further than the X-Presidents. Basically, I loved it, and being incredibly impulsive, I put it up for VFH. Anyways, if you didn't want to have it featured yet, or at all, please feel free to force me to huff kittens being fed to me by Chuck Norris and Vin Diesel while I am forced to use a Euroipod. All the best. Jlove1982 06:23, 2 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the nomination and I am glad you enjoyed the piece, but out of fairness to the other writers I think that only one article in the NAJC series should be nominated, and currently the first article in the series is up for vote here. I am unfamiliar with any other X-Presidents: this series was based on Rcmurphy's Founding Fathers article. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 07:05, 2 Jan 2006 (UTC)
I only realized that the Manhattan Engineering District one was similar afterwards, so I withdrew the nomination. Actually, SNL has this whole thing about the "X-Presidents" through Saturday TV Funhouse. Basically, Carter, Ford, Bush Sr. and Reagan teamed up with superpowers to stop bad guys. Clinton was known to help out too.

rcmurphy Usually just whatever has the most votes, unless we're featuring stuff made especially for a certain day.

rcmurphy I.e. Todd's Christmas poem.

01:47 rcmurphy And sometimes I featuring older stuff that has one or two fewer votes than the top nomination.

_Dawg it's the number of plus votes, the length it's waited, etc.

rcmurphy I featuring your article.

Mhaille I think we need General Rules and Extraordinary Rules

_Dawg there isn't an official number.

_Dawg lol

Tompkins there should be

Keitei kakun is instahuff, in my opinion

01:48 Keitei there shouldn't be an official number

_Dawg I have yet to see anything they nominate not go directly to instahuff land.

Keitei cause then we'd have to go by it

Tompkins lol yea i guess you would

_Dawg Vote padding is rampant on some things, too.

Flammable where?

Tompkins when the sock puppet one gonna be featured?

01:49 Tompkins it has like at least 10 all for

Keitei never

Bradaphraser yeah

Flammable Are you still talking about VFH?

rcmurphy If there was an official number people would cry about it every time it was changed/violated the slightest bit.

_Dawg I still believe the number of votes on BvsU couldn't have been natural.

Bradaphraser it's going to be featured right after hte Euroipod Crusade

Bradaphraser which is to say, "Never"

rcmurphy Dawg: I will give you that.

_Dawg timing was too close, count was too high

Keitei I think is time to archive the previously featured articles

01:50 rcmurphy Someone probably linked it on his LJ or something and had his buddies vote for it.

Tompkins bradaphraser: lol

_Dawg lots of new or unknown users.

_Dawg like someone got a bombing from a bunch of forum friends.

Tompkins hmm

rcmurphy: Yes

_Dawg Exactly

Flammable Hey. Would it be unreasonable to only allow the oldest 25% of users to vote?

01:51 Volte` is there a way to know?

_Dawg hehe

Tompkins yes it would

Bradaphraser Interesting...

_Dawg How would be identify them?

Bradaphraser I'm all for the oldest 75%....

Flammable seeing as consolidating smart voting and preventing rampant asshole cronyism makes maintianing VFH easier

Bradaphraser since I fall in that category and not the other...

Tompkins lol id go for that if im in it

Tompkins but i doubt i am

Flammable I meant in terms of reg date.

_Dawg Flammable: You're right there.

Volte` i know i am so i don't really care.

Tompkins you could have a probation period of like 2 weeks before they could vote

01:52 Volte` does the database even store regdate

rcmurphy See, look.

Volte` i like the idea of a 3-4 day probation period in certain situations like vandal-heavy periods

rcmurphy Holocaust was dropped but the 100 Worst Movies remains.

_Dawg 2 weeks to a month.

Flammable oldrest 75% rather.

rcmurphy Both have +7 clear votes.

Flammable 35 is a bit much and I cna't count.

rcmurphy And 100WM was older.

Flammable 25, gah

Keitei I'll drop worst movies

Flammable is hart to type in dork.

Tompkins was that ll the same vandal last night?

_Dawg Worst is recent, though

Keitei it's been changing, at least

01:53 Keitei and it has pictures

_Dawg that is, the nomination is recent.

rcmurphy Eh? Holocause had a vote on the 31st.

_Dawg wait

Keitei holocaust had no pictures

_Dawg no, sorry

Bradaphraser flammable: It's ok, we all mssepu smeotiems

rcmurphy 100WM hasn't had a For vote since the 25th.

_Dawg Worst should be thrown out, too.

Keitei yeah

Tompkins and it was on vfd the same time it was on vfh

rcmurphy not having pictures doesn't disclude an article from being featured.

01:54 Bradaphraser agreed

Tompkins ...

_Dawg yeah, there have been cases where great articles without pictures were featured.

Keitei I don't read articles that don't have pictures

Keitei haha

_Dawg We'd just quickly make one for it.

Volte` i always make sure to put a picture in an article

Volte` even ones where a picture is probably not necessary

01:55 rcmurphy Sometimes I ask in IRC if I need a picture for a feature.

Tompkins same

insertwackyname heh

rcmurphy Er, to clarify...

Keitei the format without a picture burns my eyes

rcmurphy Sometimes I request images in IRC.

Bradaphraser yeah

01:56 Flammable I think "The Truman Torch" Is one of the best puns evar.

rcmurphy: What's you thought on the image options for my article on VFH?

rcmurphy Tompkins: Did you make this image?

Keitei so who wants to do QVH?

_Dawg I could shoot a prompt image pretty easily.

rcmurphy Man uncyclopedia?

_Dawg yeah

rcmurphy:no i did not make it

rcmurphy Tompkins: Ok.

rcmurphy: i dont even have photo shop i wish i did

rcmurphy Whatever you think would be best.

rcmurphy Programming humor goes over my head, I'm afraid.

01:57 _Dawg it'd be more OS-agnostic that way.

_Dawg It's not programming humour.

Bradaphraser I'll do my own for Euripods Crusade... what do I type?

_Dawg It's operating system humour. Tech humour would cover it in general.

rcmurphy Well, tech humor then.

rcmurphy Or, hm.

01:58 _Dawg ARGH!

rcmurphy We don't /have/ to have an image for it if it'd fit better with just text.

_Dawg I hate these little metal things in my mouth!

Keitei I think the "unoriginal" section is gay ever since eyebeams moved

_Dawg nah, the image could be done, it just doesn't need to be on the page.

01:59 Volte` hmm, you think the missing jesus image would be a good VFP for Nobody cares or would the thumbnail be too small

_Dawg it would be cool for featuring.

_Dawg what size is the feature article image?

Bradaphraser good question

rcmurphy 100px.

<- anidnmeno has left uncyclopedia

_Dawg wide?

Volte` definitely too small then

rcmurphy Wide, yeah.

02:00 -> isra has joined uncyclopedia

Vote for me

Nominate and/or vote Rataube as January's Noob of the Month, for his contributions with, articles, editions, manteinance work, and much, much, much more. Or get ready to be eaten by a grue. --Rataube 22:39, 1 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, but I don't think you are allowed to stump for it. We've got some very attentive admins here, though, so just keep trying to do good work and one of them might nominate you. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 22:48, 1 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Jewish History

Nice article on God!! Congratulations. I see we have some interests in common. I am new around here, and i would appreciate a lot, your oppinion on my article Jewish history (It still lacks a couple of chapters, but it is prety long alredy). Hanukka sameach or mery chritsmas and happy new year (or both). user:rataube

It is looking good. Some funny stuff. When you finish it you should go through it for spelling, grammar and flow, or maybe get a Native English speaker to do it for you. Humor-wise, I like it. It could use pictures though. ---QuillRev. Isra (talk) 20:02, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)

On the Tx: Test Page

You need to do it all mono-spaced type. Variable-spaced type isn't as much of a "text version" to me, since it doesn't look like a terminal view. Dawg.gif » Brig Sir Dawg | t | v | c » 18:33, 20 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. I had it set to monotype, but hadn't noticed that the code wasn't working right. Should be fixed now. --Isra1337 21:13, 20 Dec 2005 (UTC)
K. Well, actually it is unfixed again. Anyone know a method of setting non-variable width fonts without using the CODE tag? --Isra1337 00:02, 21 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Four nominated articles in less than a month...I'm rather impressed. Keep it up, son. --—rc (t) 08:30, 21 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Thank-you, good sir, and I appreciate the nomination. --Isra1337 09:07, 21 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Your username
..that my username is a pun? ...that is it isn't a very good one? ...that if you don't get it you should consider that as being for the best?
It appears that you're Dutch, of Israeli descent. 1337 = leet (English) = liet (Dutch). Isra + liet = Israliet (Dutch) = Israeli (English). Then I could be mistaken about your heritage, but I probably still got the pun. ;) Hooloovoo 15:55, 16 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Close, but no Dutch element. It is actually just a reference to how the word "Israelite" is hyphenated in English-language Bibles, which is "Isra-" on one line and "-elite" on the other, which makes very little sense consodering how one pronounces the whole word versus how one pronounces each fragment. Through the actions of a nerdy friend of mine, I can only ever think of "leet" when I see the word "elite." (Told you it wasn't very good).

Wilde On

And a good raise it was, excellent edit. Disturbing, yes, but excellent. A photoshop (or real image) of Steve-O in a bikini could well propel the article into featured status... although I'm not quite sure I want to see it, he's no Keira Knightley in a White Corset, after all. Hooloovoo 12:32, 14 Nov 2005 (UTC)

AAAAAAAAA! stop already!

Stop moving pages please, and with the talk page too, arg. It probably doesn't work because this is an old version of mediawiki. Try it on wikipedia or something. --Splaka 09:46, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

I shall stop. Didn't realize that bothered the admins. Also, I figured it out finally. --Isra1337 10:02, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Every time you move a page, it creates a redirect, if you move the talk page it creates two. Rtfm --Splaka 10:06, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

QVFD is only for articles that have little or no history. Many of the articles you added date back at least a few weeks, and as such should go in Uncyclopedia:Pages for deletion. It says at the top of the QVFD page: "This is where you can put pages that are so blatantly crappy that they don't need to go through a long voting process to be deleted. This includes pages that are just one unfunny sentence, and pages that are plagiarized (include a link to the original source). The goal of QuickVFD is that pages here will be deleted on the same day that they are posted." Please follow these guidelines when nominating pages for deletion. Thanks. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 01:28, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Sorry about that. Thanks for the clarification. --Isra1337 01:31, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)

No problems. Please add any of those pages you think deserve a deletion referendum to the above page. Also, just for future reference, try to keep conversations to one talk page if possible; if I've left you a message here, I'll be looking for your reply here. If you reply on my talk page the conversation becomes fragmented and difficult to follow. But by all means start a thread there if you need to contact me. Cheers. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 01:37, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the info. --Isra1337 01:39, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)
