edit A bit shy?

Ah, you've come to the right place. See Rule three of Uncyclopedia's Holy Rules. Hasn't anyone given you a welcome template yet? Well, welcome. There are blah blah blah articles on "writing comedy" that you can read. But you might be a natural, and if so you'll find this a fine playground. So live up to your name! A nice choice for a name. If you have any questions ask anyone here, and if they don't know, ask someone else. You can see where most of the new things going on are "going on" by looking at the "Recent changes" click over on the left on the navigation bar. Random features lets you explore what's come before, although there are something like 2,000 of them (I don't know how many, it's somewhere around there). And stuff. Welcome again! Aleister 20:10 13-5-'12

p.s. Wooohh, you were here for a few months in '005, at the childhood of the site! Welcome back (a month ago)!

edit Hey bro

Don't write small articles that are very short, they will get deleted, bashed, DASTROYED! We don't want that to happen. If you plan on working on one, use the construction template: {{Construction}}. Also, nobody welcomed you? Let me slap your page with a VERY LATE welcome lol Snowflake mini Mattsnow 16:09, July 3, 2012 (UTC)

Welcome to Uncyclopedia! Make yourself comfortable. Want a Coke to go with these peanuts?

Hello, Flyingbird, and welcome to Uncyclopedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links you may want to read to help you get started:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being an Uncyclopedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or use the "sign" button (Button sig) above the edit box. This will automatically produce your name and the date.

At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but it certainly is a fun and easy way to express your creativity. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Flyingbird/Article about stuff) so you can edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done put the "Work-In-Progress" template - {{construction}} - onto it as well.

If the current colonization doesn't suit your fancy, then browse our rewrite and idea categories. We have lots of articles just sitting around for someone to improve, so don't be afraid - dive right in!

We also have an impressive amount of rules that you should read, it'll take a couple of days at least. Then, you can reward yourself with our Welcome Party for Noobs!

If you need help, ask me on my talk page, ask at the Dump, or ask an administrator on their talk page. Additionally, the Uncyclopedian Adopt-a-Noob program is there to bring experienced editors straight to you. Simply leave a message on an adopter's talkpage to join. Again, welcome!  --‎ Snowflake mini Mattsnow 16:09, July 3, 2012 (UTC)

edit Winterthur

Nice work so far. Quick suggestion after my second cursory glance - change it to IPv3.1416. Long numbers are a pain in the arse for readability, and generally don't really add the funnies. This keeps the funnies, but improves readability. Also given it's related to IPv4/IPv6 having a lower integer adds to the humour, as it's essentially saying it's an upgrade on an outmoded concept. Yeah - that joke will go over a casual readers head, but someone who understands nomenclature of computer stuff would appreciate it. As an extension, I'd even suggest IPv3.1416β, or a step out into inaccuracy would be IPv3.1416ß, which only those who knew the difference between the Greek Beta and the German eszett would pick up on. (I like subtle jokes peppered in with blunt edge humour.)                               Puppy's talk page01:43 21 Jul

Very good suggestion, I shall make that change, thanks, PuppyOnTheRadio! IPv3.1416β it shall be. Flyingbird (talk) 15:13, July 21, 2012 (UTC)
Hmmm... I see you have a Convention Bug. Could you at least categorise them? You also seem to be developing your own meme template which could easily fill up a wiki - for example here Convention of Toyama about rabbits and Convention of Roanne about ducks. So I guess I can look forward to the Convention of London about pigeons? This sort of stuff is discouraged on uncyclopedia as it is like creating your vanity world to which only you can contribute to. One off articles are ok, a series not so if it cannot be linked even tenuously to something that others can understand (hence the wikipedia links you see on many articles). There are a couple of precedents which I can cite: this writer and his Slappy Squirrel series which were in the end all removed when the writer refused to back down from creating a series of articles around a non-existent TV series. Also more recently there was a Postman Pat article where a writer overcooked an idea and wrote out about six series of episodes, all of them made up and impossible to edit or cut back. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 10:46, July 30, 2012 (UTC)
Ok, I shall leave it at a series of three and add a category soon. Flyingbird (talk) 18:24, July 30, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks Flyingbird. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 18:35, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

edit PLS

After some debate (see my talk page), I have disqualified your Banana Sucking story from the competition as it was already on the other Uncyclopedia site. It has to be a new story - or least one that hasn't appeared on a website similar to this one. I hope that is clear. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 16:09, June 12, 2013 (UTC)

No problem. Flyingbird (talk) 17:39, June 12, 2013 (UTC)

edit Conditional rendering

You baffled and annoyed us a year ago by repeatedly alternating File:Eatingabanana.jpg between two images. What you might have been trying to do is amuse the reader by having a different (and incompatible) photo come up on different visits to the page. (One aspect of the annoyance was that your change affected all articles that used this file. I asked another Admin to review this and possibly ban you, but it being Simsilikesims, the duration of the ban was "a banana".)

There is a way to achieve this without sporadic changes to the encyclopedia that require the scrutiny of patrollers: by using the <option> and <change> tags of HTML in the Uncyclopedia article where you want this effect. Details are at UN:HAX#Random choice tag. I personally recommend that your contributions derive their humor from humor rather than software tricks, but it is there if you want it. There are also a variety of templates that emit varying text onto a page. Cheers! Spıke ¬ 15:31 24-Jan-14

Thank you for your suggestion, SPIKE. I absolutely did not intend to annoy anyone indeed. I think the picture with my own face is most appropriate, but at times I doubt and replace it. If I would not be able to replace it, that would be easier for me. Cheers, Carol. Flyingbird (talk) 14:39, March 1, 2014 (UTC)

There is no way for us to protect this page against only you. (And, according to Simsie, no longer any way for us to ban a user for the duration of "a banana.") Please remember that all of your contributions here can be stolen and misused provided the thief credits you as the author. The safest way is to contribute stuff you will be happy with in any mood. Spıke ¬ 15:21 1-Mar-14

Thanks again, SPIKE! I shall try to stay in the mood in which I am just happy to be the way I want to be and will try not to annoy you by changing that image all the time. Fortunately, on mirror sites like http://mirror.uncyc.org/wiki/File:Eatingabanana.jpg or archives like http://web.archive.org/web/20130707200017/http://mirror.uncyc.org/wiki/File:Eatingabanana.jpg it is my own image anyway, so that makes it easier to keep it the way it is now. Cheers, Carol. Flyingbird (talk) 15:31, March 1, 2014 (UTC)

edit Hans Brinker

Your article was recently nominated on Votes for deletion. I went in and mostly gave your jokes a clearer re-telling, and the article has dropped off VFD and is now nominated for featuring on the main page. You may want to give it a push. Spıke ¬ 18:02 16-May-14

Thanks, SPIKE! I'll see if I can spend some more time on it the coming months, but I am busy with very many things... Cheers, Carol Flyingbird (talk) 09:46, June 8, 2014 (UTC)

I did not mean to give the article a push by careful editing, but by casting a quick vote. Nevertheless, it will go onto the main page tomorrow, congratulations! Shall we split the credit? Spıke ¬ 13:57 5-Aug-14
