No, my problem is that I don't like your attitude. I didn't like it when I saw you in IRC, and I didn't like your reply. My impression of you is that you've got something out for the admins here, and I really don't like that. I saw you do the same thing to another admin, and while he might not mind so much, I do. Now, unless you've got nothign better to do than make snarky remarks in attempts to make me look bad for making otherwise trivial errors, I suggest you shut up and do something productive.--ShroomsShroom!Gay2Sir Flammable KUN Prince%21.gif (Na Naaaaa...)Gay2Shroom!Shroomirror 17:06, 4 Jan 2006 (UTC)
Ehhhh.... no. The other place you saw me do it was in my own un-nomination for admin, yes? That whole section was a joke too. This paragraph is about as serious as it gets for me on Uncyclopedia -- yes, even outside the article space (OMG is nothing sacred around here?) If you still think I'm being unduly cruel and have it in for you, then I'm sorry to have to differ with you once again. The Fonz

You wrote: "Please ease up on the redirects. While things like "Arthur Fonzerelli" are good redirs, "The fonz, doens't need every iteration of Fonz under the sun to point to it."

Point taken, but since no one has yet written a decent article on one of the several Fonz iterations that have links to them, do you really think you should encourage articles on all of them? Naughtyned 22:27 27 Oct 2005 (UTC)

No, because some of the lesser-used redirects will likely never be used, and serve to waste space. Plus, if someone thinks of sometime creative (i.e. ambiguation), it's a deterrant. Also, strange redirects jsut make more small pages that take up unnecessary space and bog upt he "small apges" page. If you want to redirect, stick with common ones, as peopel will adapt to mislinks fromt he less common names.--Sir Flammable KUN 22:29, 27 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Redirect Deletions

About your recent deletions of the redirects, I should point out those last three in particular are at the top of the list of the Wanted page. Wouldn't it be easier to redirect them instead of changing each one individually ? Even as you were burninating Arrrrrrrr, M. Wester was creating more articles, which you have since burned. At what point should an admin (which I seem to be, so clearly someone should be shot) put a temp ban on a user? Obviously, this is a question for IRC, but I'm afraid to install an IRC client... adding Special:Newpages to my bookmarks has already decreased my productivity at work by about 110% (I'm actually undoing work I'd previously done). -- Sir BobBobBob ! S ? [rox!|sux!] Prince%21.gif 16:46, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Usually, the typical protocol for short page makers is as follows: If the user has made numerous bad, short pages, delete them, and give them a 20min-1hr ban, pointing them to BGBU or something similar.

If the user insists on making more of the same, ban him again, this time for 1-4 hours.

If the user doesn't stop. knock him unconscious; ban him for 1-7 days.

If the user comes back after that, 24-infinite, depening on how annoyed you are. --Sir Flammable KUN 23:54, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)

  • Wow. They made me an admin, and I hadn't even found BGBU yet. I love this place! Oh, and thanks for the help... I think I'll leave blocking (unless I see something really egregious) to the more experienced folks. -- Sir BobBobBob ! S ? [rox!|sux!] Prince%21.gif 15:42, 4 Nov 2005 (UTC)

For someone with an arguably self-centered "touch my stuff and die" policy, you certainly don't seem to have any internal conflict with obliterating things I'm working on. Is UN in danger of running out of disk space, or is waste just a luxury available to certain tiers of membership? There are plenty of administration-level templates that are wasteful duplication (official/semi-official/unofficial/very unofficial). Might I suggest pointing your flamethrower there first? I think I've generated a fair share of tasty content in the last 8 days of work. A little room to breathe would be appreciated. Thanks for reading. </rant> -- T. (talk) 22:19, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Ahuh. Where did I ever say that you've never contributed anything useful? Projecting a little bit, are we? AFAIK, I've never even run into you until now. Let me know exactly where you used those templates and I'll restore them depeding on if they're worthwhile. Btw, take it easy, I'm sure if you read BGBU, you'd know that some admins shoot first and ask questions later.--Sir Flammable KUN 22:22, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Actually, that's just it. I never got a chance to embed them in any of the articles I've written because they were blasted too fast. I've been shot a couple of times by Splaka, so I apologize for being oversensitive. I understand that you guys have a job to do, and it can be useful/proactive to blast stuff as its coming in, but it's kind of disparaging to know that stuff I'm working on can disappear before it's done. Articles, I generally tag as construction, but templates? I figured they'd still be there if I checked back in a few hours. I try to do my part to tag lousy articles, but I always check the date and revisions first. If its new, I tag it WIP, recent:rewrite or catstub, or if it's old and stupid then maybe VFD, but I try not to kill on the first shot.  :) For what its worth, kudos to MadMax for finding my stuff (before I got into self-tagging), but treating it gently. -- T. Hey, why did you delete my "dead flounder" article? I thought it was pretty good. People are allowed to say things like "Pi equals 3 because Jesus proved it in the Bible, which was written by Bush," but you can't say "The dead flounder was invented by Bill Gates in 1732"? Come on, I only wrote the article because my friend wrote the one that links to it. I still have it saved on my computer if you'll allow me to post it back up. Please?

Hm, deleted again, eh? Even the new one, which was completely different and even better. Oh, well, eventually I'll come up with a good one. Or I could just give up and continue editing other things. Looking at what I've posted and what's actually stayed up, apparently stuff that's random and made up on the spot is better than real humor. So I'll go with that. :-D

I have not been able to find a reference to the abbreviation NNP listed as your reason for deleting the sherwood schwartz article. I am still a petty new user, and I apologize if there is some such aspect of it that makes it unfunny or unworthy. My sense of humor is far different from most, and it could simply be that. However, if NNP is a small transgression I would respectfully ask what it was, and if it is able to be remedied.

NNP = Non-Notable Person. See Uncyclopedia:Vanity_Policies --Splaka 06:46, 11 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Kevillips replies

How notable does a person have to be to rank? Sherwood Schwartz is widely known as the creator of two of the biggest TV shows in history. He's been featured on TVLand's TV Moguls. With all due respect, this man is probably second only to aaron spelling or maybe norman lear when it comes to producing TV shows. I have no connection to him whatsoever, I just picked him up from an already created link from "gilligan".

I put forth any person that is a big fan of either the Brady Bunch or Gilligan's island would know this person. That the editor is unfamiliar does not in and by itself make him Non-noteable. It may just make the admin non-informed.

Citing the VPP, (vanity policy page)

  • Google hits "Sherwood Schwartz" 39,900
  • Wikipedia currently has a stub on him
  • Imdb has an extensive filmography on him, but not much of a personal biography.
  • Have the admins heard of him, apparently not
  • Is it funny? Funny is as funny does. But comparing the writer/creator/producer of the brady bunch to shakespeare is funny because it has a ring of truth to it. Shakespeare was the light hearted topical humor of its day. Just as the BB was. People quote BB just as they do Shakespeare, comparing the archetypal characters of GI to the seven deadly sins is funny because its true. The thematic use of the comedic THREE in the GI piece follows the classic humor formula of things are funny in threes. Comparing some of the real sequels to the fake sequels also follow a rule of three. But as they say, if you have to explain a joke, it is probably not much of one, or rightfully belongs on my blog.

Now applying the same criteria to "his boy Elroy"

  • Google Hits "Elroy Schwartz" 237
  • Wikipedia has no article, and only 5 "hits in search"
  • Have the admins heard of him, doubtful.
  • is it funny? N/a

I would agree if the article was about his son Elroy it would be a NNP.

But I respectfully disagree on the summary decision that Sherwood Schwartz is a Non Notable Person.

  • Google Hits Tammy Faye Baker 49,300
  • Google hits "my actual name in quotes" 138
  • Google Hits "teresa Isaac" Mayor of my city 345
  • Google Hits "Eleanor Mondale" 949 - although admittedly I wrote an uncyclopedia article about her and am probably opening her up to NNP status too.
  • Google Hits "Charles Nelson Reiley 613
  • Google Hits Gene Rayburn 32,300

In the Googleplex, this poor man ranks between the long time host of TV's Match Game and a defrocked former minister and christian bible theme park creator, ex wife of bible filanderer.

I am unfamilar as to what it takes to be notable. I do insist this is not a vanity page. It has been a long running humor theme of mine to compare this man to Shakespeare. I have been doing it since the last century. Heck even the last decade.

-- k3vin

Fine fine. Link me to the page and I'll restore. I looked over the article text and it seemed to be rather stereotypical of vanity articles. While I appreciate the reply, try not to be so snarky or tongue in cheek about it, especially if I haven't responded to you proper. Especially when I am wintering in Boca. I offer my humility. As I wrote my voluminous response, it occured to me that I probably put far more energy in my explanation than was spent in the initial deletion. As a newbie, I was not sure if indeed SS was a NNP or not, so I did not consider the deletion to be a flub, and was prepared to explain myself. I massaged it a bit, and it is currently sitting under my user page. Here -- k3vin 18:44, 12 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Why deleting Ewok huntiung? Quality of page was better than most phantasy oriented pages. You mentioned this is not a Tabloid. Was page to flashy or news oriented? --Suresh 21:46, 17 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Too, too, too, too flashy and newspapery. It felt too much like a pamphlet than an encyclopedia article. Trying to get your standards I still find deletion not necessarly harsh but inconsequent. An NRV-tagging seemed more appropriate, since reason for purge seemed more to be about style than content. --Suresh 22:58, 17 Dec 2005 (UTC)

OK I am seriously confused now

I was under the impression that a requirement for a page's survival was humor. So your saying "not every page has to be funny" has got me very mixed up now. Should I seriously have already known that? Is it on a policy page somewhere, and I missed it? (this is not sarcasm, I'm dead serious) I thought uncyclopedia pages had to be funny! --Nerd42Talk 01:54, 6 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Ugh. The ones in which we tend to do "serious" business. Fore example, VFP, VFD, VFH, QVFD, etc. should be primarily focused on getting votes through, not garnering a laugh. Just as Comedians can't be funny all the time because they have real lives, our business pages can't be too visually distracting. Besides your intended "addition" doesn't add any humor value.--ShroomsShroom!Gay2Sir Flammable KUN Prince%21.gif (Na Naaaaa...)Gay2Shroom!Shroomirror 02:10, 6 Jan 2006 (UTC)
it hasn't been added, so how do you know? i should just do a seperate article called V.F.D. I guess. ;) --Nerd42Talk 03:37, 6 Jan 2006 (UTC)
Becauase you mentioned it on the IRC channel. I'm not stupid, you know. It's right up there with all of your other "improvements"--ShroomsShroom!Gay2Sir Flammable KUN Prince%21.gif (Na Naaaaa...)Gay2Shroom!Shroomirror 03:43, 6 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Power Triping??

feel free to nrv tag my other article:The great 1927 riot of Poughkeepsy ps:have fun

Personally I foind Power tripe supernutritious and only slightly delicious. If you think NRV tagging is power tripping, you've got self-esteem issues. NRV is a way for us to ID articles that need expansion and/or humor content. When I say not to remove the tag, I suggest you don't remove the tag unless you have our okay. That's the way it normally goes. Now, since you can't handle yourself reasonably well, off you go.--ShroomsShroom!Gay2Sir Flammable KUN Prince%21.gif (Na Naaaaa...)Gay2Shroom!Shroomirror 04:55, 8 Jan 2006 (UTC)

I'm the baby? u banned me for saying u re power tripping if thats not power tripping then what is? U went and deleted my other article Super Ridiculus Engine within 1 day after NRV tagging it which gives it a 7 day horizon for improving? What pissed me off the most is that i didnt have the chance to save this one, by the way your user page is really so damn funny i ll need a new stomach after reading it

10:11, 8 Jan 2006 Famine deleted "Super Ridiculus Engine" (SRE seems to be down. Just a semi-RE here.)

Thank you, come again. Btw, if you knew how to read, you'd notice that I didn't delte SRE, but famine did. However, your immaturity rears its head once again.
