edit Umm...

Why did you add the contsruction-sticker into that World War-thingy? That page is done quite long ago and so does not need construction-tag. Cat the Colourful (Feed me!) Zzz Sleeping Cat 16:54, 8 June, 2012 (UTC)

I'm going to work on it, make it funnier, so it doesn't get deleted. ChromaNebula (talk) 16:55, June 8, 2012 (UTC)
Okay. Understood. Cat the Colourful (Feed me!) Zzz Sleeping Cat 17:00, 8 June, 2012 (UTC)

edit Signature problems? Solved!

I made an sigpage, a page with your sig on so the preferences would work out better. I also added an extra color for your talkpage-link, becuse everyone likes Lime right? :)

Put this code into your preferences: {{SUBST:User:ChromaNebula/sig}} and DON'T add the nowiki-tags there, it's just a tag which prevents a link/template to not show. Just add the subst:-thing and so on, but forget the nowiki-part. Please tell me if this helps. :) Cat the Colourful (Feed me!) Zzz Sleeping Cat 09:11, 6 August, 2012 (UTC)

edit Offensive material

I am mildly supportive of your edits of today, as they are mostly softening up ranty writing — less so of the moralizing in your change summaries, because I am not unconditionally against references to mentions of Catholic scandals such as pedophilia, or even of use of the word "nigger," if there is a point to it, as opposed to when an author merely drops a word into an article expecting it to be funny or to amuse himself by shocking the reader. I tried to make the point, in the recent clean-up of How To Be Funny And Not Just Stupid, that breaking any rules, such as the rules of common decency, is only justified when it serves a comedy plan. By the way, our article Niggers is brilliant (and not even offensive, for anyone who will get beyond the superficial). But there was wide consensus at Votes for Deletion to ignore the pedigree of the article Nigger Dogshit Sandwiches and delete the first word as gratuitous. Spıke ¬ 15:12 10-Nov-13

I know I shouldn't have sounded like a bluenose Bowdlerizer in the edit summaries. However, I was getting rid of it for two reasons: offensive and unfunny. Should I revert the edits? ChromaNebula (talk) 15:17, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

No indeed; "unfunny" suffices. However, I see recent edits from Aleister on the 2008 Election article, and he may fight you, as surely he will support the word to showcase his opinion that the only opposition to Obama was rooted in racism. (About which: "unfunny.") Spıke ¬ 15:24 10-Nov-13

Nah, the edits were fine. My edit was only to add categories. Once again SPIKE has analyzed me and my intentions and hit a foul ball. And why would I think the only opposition to Obama is rooted in racism???? No basis for that statement. I oppose him because he has had the chance to pardon all imprisoned marijuana smokers and hasn't, his use of drones, his spying programs, his golf swing, his choice of tie (any), and his haircut. ChromaNebula, good to meet you. Aleister same year, different timezone
I stand corrected; but please comment directly to the editor here in case you're not satisfied with the edit. Spıke ¬ 16:31 10-Nov-13
Considering how much the race was emphasized in the 2004 election, it seemed appropriate to mention it in the article, but I agree with you that the use of offensive terms is unnecessary for the comedic strategy of this article. So I replaced the N word with the term "black person". Hopefully that is not too un-PC for you. Besides, it adds to the last point about Michelle Obama and her assertiveness; indeed I've never met a black woman who had any trouble with assertiveness. The attempt to replace the jokes about racism with jokes about Obama's so-called foreign status was well-intentioned, but there are still some ultra-conservatives that actually believe that stuff. By contrast, the fact that Obama is not white is unquestionable. -- Simsilikesims(♀UN) Talk here. 20:35, November 10, 2013 (UTC)
I agree; mentioning the issue of nationality does bring in as much baggage as the use of the n-word had brought in earlier. We handle Barack Obama's birth adequately elsewhere. Spıke ¬ 23:17 10-Nov-13
