edit Wyvern

I am userspacing this article so that you can work on it some more. You can find it at User:Chaoarren/Wyvern. Less than a paragraph does not make a proper article. Read some of our features (use the Random feature link on the left side of the page to see some) to get an idea of what we are looking for. Our format is that of a parody encyclopedia. Please also take some time to improve your comedic writing skills by reading HTBFANJS - it gives an idea of which jokes have gotten too old to use here, avoiding lists, etc. -- Simsilikesims(♀UN) Talk here. 21:41, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

edit Not funny for sober people

I take it one of us deleted one of your pages with this (canned) message. However, creating gibberish pages with this title, a play on this title, or any other title, may be funny for you, but the goal at this website is to be funny to the reader, and gibberish is not. If creating such a page is a protest against past administrative action, it would be drama, which is even less funny. Spıke ¬ 15:59 23-Aug-13

edit Chao

I created the page chao then moved it to my user space but it ended up being renamed to User:User:chaoarren/chao because I typed in user in the renaming. So I had to move it again as User:chaoarren/chao. Its now complete but I can't move it to the main acticles. What should I do. Chaoarren (talk) 12:46, August 26, 2013 (UTC)

Apologies for the confusion with our new move user interface. It seems that the function of the pulldown menu on the left is to add a prefix, which you must not also type on the right side.
Regarding your inability to move Chao back to mainspace: Any time you move an article, the old name is turned into a "redirect" that points to the new name. You cannot delete stuff, and you cannot move stuff if it would result in the deletion of a page (the redirect). You can ask for a redirect to be deleted at QVFD--and in fact you should, any time you want an old name to no longer work. Read the rules carefully when asking for a redirect to be deleted, so we don't mistakenly delete the thing pointed to. I should be able to delete this redirect. Spıke ¬ 13:28 26-Aug-13
I was indeed able to delete the old redirect, and a move now should succeed. Get in practice by immediately listing the old (userspace) name on QVFD for deletion. PS--Regarding your Change Summary nearby, "It is now funny enough to be in the main articles," I'm not saying you are wrong, but you can ask for a second opinion at Pee Review. Spıke ¬ 13:31 26-Aug-13
Two more things
When you are referring to an Uncyclopedia page, such as Chao, put it in double brackets, as I just did, so anyone reading this page can go right there with a click.
I have looked at this article and I don't think it's ready for the main encyclopedia. It has no photos; it talks to the reader rather than looking like an encyclopedia article; Section 3 looks like a comic book, and WHAT THE FU- especially is not something you would read in an encyclopedia; and your section headings seem to be screwed up. Also, as above, there are no links to any other article. Please don't move it to mainspace, especially as an Admin recently moved it out of mainspace. Spıke ¬ 13:38 26-Aug-13

edit Uncyclopedia:Pee Review/Xbox One

Thank you for trying to review this article! However, you don't do a Pee Review by editing this page. Because of the coding, your edits are invisible on the page. Instead, press the Review now button and it will bring up a form to let you grade several different aspects of the article. Please make sure your review is helpful to the author. Don't just say, "This article lacks the humour that would make it funny enough"--say why, or what he seems to be doing wrong. And "out of date information" is not a problem, because Uncyclopedia articles don't have to be true. I'll reset the page and you can try again! Spıke ¬ 21:51 26-Aug-13

I have been watching the Xbox One request since I sent it in. I wrote most of the stuff, though not the nazi jokes. However...

  1. Pee review is not done in that way. Check out the finished reviews. You must fill in a table.
  2. "People may be offended".. This is Uncyclopedia. If someone is offended here, then we are doing it right, because many articles are meant to be offensive in a funny way. Look, simple nazi jokes aren't that offensive. I don't think it was many nazi jokes in that article, except for the top image. Also, there are far more offensive articles than this. Look at Rape, Woman, Allah's True Prophet Muhammad and 9-11, for example. (Saddex (talk) 20:33, August 27, 2013 (UTC))
Yes, I told Chaoarren in the previous section how Pee Reviews are supposed to be done, and he replied by making his comments slightly more gentle than they had been. Don't tell him "You must fill in a table," although he should; be glad someone read and evaluated your page.
The problem with Nazi jokes is not that "people may be offended." The problem is that Nazi is a meme, a cliché, that some authors throw out expecting them to be automatically funny. Clearly there is no real link between Nazism and the Xbox. Unless you have done a very good job of dreaming up a real link, please consider whether you used memes as an escape from writing something truly funny.
I am not sure your article is offensive. But the defense that other Uncyclopedia articles are more offensive is simply asserting that two wrongs make a right.
Everyone please try to get along with one another. Spıke ¬ 20:53 27-Aug-13

Now having looked at the article:
  1. The only "Nazism" in the article is the initial illustration. (Too big! Make it a thumbnail!) You have a comedy strategy, which is to play on the possible intrusiveness of the new Xbox and the potential for government spying. You found a convenient swastika illustration. However, the US N.S.A. is not Nazi Germany--whatever their similarities--and this slap is too hasty and imprecise. No, it won't overly offend.
  2. You need to ask Pennyfeather to go over this next week when he returns from vacation. I can tell what you're trying to say but several of your phrasings simply aren't English.
  3. Although your lists are not one-liners that will attract junk from anonymous editors, Special Features presents seven ideas with bullets and no other organization. This might be improved.
  4. I do not know where you were heading in Section 4, but you never got there. Section 5, your Summary, is too much cheerleading and advice to the reader. It doesn't read like an encyclopedia, and there is no humor in deviating from the encyclopedia style. Spıke ¬ 21:05 27-Aug-13

I should notice you about one thing though. I am the original creator of the article, and added at least 75% of the content in it, but there are some exceptions;
  1. The top and bottom images were not added by me.
  2. The "summary" section was not added by me.
  3. Several statements on the existing sections, including the one about Bill Gates being a vampire, wasn't added by me either.
I checked through the article, and fixed several things. (Saddex (talk) 15:23, August 28, 2013 (UTC))
Edit: I didn't make the 4th section either. Anyway, I expanded it. (Saddex (talk) 15:24, August 28, 2013 (UTC))

I did not intend to assign blame for anything! But you asked for a Pee Review, and I gave a mini-review of what you provided. It is quite good that you are willing to correct mistakes in it, no matter who it was who put them there. Spıke ¬ 15:57 28-Aug-13

edit Talk:Pokémon (video games series)

Placing {{VFD}} on an article's talk page does not nominate it for deletion. You must place {{VFD}} at the top of the article, then follow the rules at Votes for Deletion and write a nomination. I would vote in favor of such a nomination; but please note at the top of the talk page that we tried two times previously to delete the article and it was kept--and follow those links to see why it was kept. edit Your new ban

Okay, here is what happened. Admin Simsilikesims userspaced Wyvern. You worked on it some more, never getting it beyond a weak imitation of Dragon, but yelling at the reader, and acting out in the text of the article over the fact that I gave you a ban. I am sure all of it was fun for you to type, but it was downright painful for a visitor to read. Then you decided you knew better than Simsie and put the article back in mainspace. It is gone, and for a week, so are you. Spıke ¬ 13:40 1-Sep-13

And now im back Chaoarren (talk) 15:29, September 8, 2013 (UTC)

I would agree it was downright painful to a viewer. I tried to improve it, but I couldn't have a chance after changing a spelling error, and it then got deleted on the 1st of September. Newman66 Visit my table here! Contributions My works 20:12, September 8, 2013 (UTC)

edit Putting Vocaloid on VFD

If you want Vocaloid to be on the VFD page, you must nominate it there and post it in the "Pages for deletion" portion and follow the steps. Make sure to put it above the nominations and put a space between later nominations it and the below nomination if you do this. Newman66 Visit my table here! Contributions My works 15:49, September 8, 2013 (UTC)

Yup, he's right: Just putting a tag on the article doesn't nominate it, though it is a required courtesy to notify the author his article might be going away. VFD is subject to rules, and please read them. Spıke ¬ 16:04 8-Sep-13

I have read the rules for deletion. Now I all I need to know is how to post it. Chaoarren (talk) 16:12, September 8, 2013 (UTC)

You edit the page UN:VFD (as you do merely to vote). Copy the blank form from the top of Section 1 down to the top of the list of articles awaiting deletion. There are more instructions on exactly how to edit in the source code. Spıke ¬ 16:19 8-Sep-13
PS--But you are going to have to lobby me to get my vote (which should not be done on the ballot itself). Going by your Change Summary, I agree with you that an article should not tell the reader how to interpret what he hasn't started reading yet. Beyond that, the idea that an article is a war between two Uncyclopedians is burdening the reader with our internal drama (though this author went on to write Aluminium, which is all about himself).
Thing is, the problem you note is a problem with the first line, not a problem with the article! If you finish nominating this, I will go in, remove this line, and vote Symbol keep vote Keep.--unless you can show me why deleting the article is a better solution. Spıke ¬ 16:27 8-Sep-13

Well, pretty close. Only--
  • You didn't copy the blank ballot, you copied the first completed ballot, so voting on your nomination is already closed (with the padlock symbol). If you had followed instructions, the date and time would have been done for you.
  • You didn't vote.
  • You didn't explain why you think the article should be deleted. If I talked you out of it, please undo your edit. Spıke ¬ 16:47 8-Sep-13

edit This page has been deleted

You have just again made or re-made an article such as "Delete this page!" that is useless and Uncyclopedia's admins have to delete this. Newman66 Visit my table here! Contributions My works 18:16, September 8, 2013 (UTC)

As I did. Indeed, unless you have an excellent concept executed in excellent fashion, what this site is about is creating imitation encyclopedia articles that go in a comedy direction--not inventing any notion that comes to mind, giving it a name, and loading it with babble. Sorry about that. Spıke ¬ 18:24 8-Sep-13

edit VFD

Spike has already told you what to do to nominate something on VFD, but I will just copy and paste a paragraph from the VFD page that talks about the same thing, just to make sure that you don't miss anything:

<!-- COPY, do not CUT, the below template, and place it at the TOP of the page, replace "ARTICLE NAME HERE" as appropriate and please remove the arrows and stuff. It's unnecessary to keep that stuff.

== [[ARTICLE NAME HERE]] ==
{{Votervfd|time=~~~~~
|keepnumber=0
|keep=
|delnumber=1
|delete=
|comments=
}}
Don't finagle with with the above template. Seriously. You may succumb to peer pressure.

edit Groundhog Day

When creating a talk page on an article, always type feedback that will be helpful to the author. Your unsigned talk page, "Stuff with a bit of vanity"--though it isn't clear whether this is a recommendation or an analysis of what's there right now--if it's a recommendation, it is not a helpful one, because "a bit of vanity" is against our vanity policies and would be undone just as quickly as I deleted your new talk page. If you had analyzed the article's history, you would have seen that what is there is quite deliberate. Spıke ¬ 19:20 9-Sep-13

edit Three-month ban for ban evasion/sockpuppetry

Thank you for your confession, at User talk:Tamerial horror, that you and he are the same. Trying to evade a ban by creating a new user name is of course bannable.

And you continue, with The abuse filter, creating ranty articles of no interest to the general reader, mostly documenting your disagreements with me.

And the contents of that article, before I deleted it, disclose so much familiarity with the Abuse Filter (not the one that warns people not to insert links to external websites but others) that it suggests you have tried to damage this website in other ways. Have a pleasant autumn; if you try to evade this ban, I am sure we will recognize you. Spıke ¬ 13:37 14-Sep-13
