edit Welcome

Terumvra

Terumvra greets you and bids you welcome to Uncyclopedia.

Greetings and well met, Apple the Great, and welcome to Uncyclopedia. Thank you for creating an account and giving me this wonderful opportunity to send my minions through your refrigerator in search of quality mustard. Meantime, feel free to poke around, much to see, much to do. I do hope you like what you see and choose to stick around. If not, the door's right over there, and we also have several strategically-placed windows, if that is what you prefer.

Now that you are here, these tend to be of use for folks like you:

Please remember to sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or use the "sign" button (Button sig) above the edit box. This will automatically produce your name and the date... unless Wikia broke something again. But usually they're pretty good about not harming the base functions. Usually.

At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but it certainly is a fun and easy way to express your creativity. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Apple the Great/Article about stuff) so you may edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done slap a construction template - {{construction}} - onto it as well.

There are plenty of other things to do, of course. Often articles will require proofreading, among other fix ups, and we could always use more reviewers, and for the more artistic of folks, there's the option of creating images to aid articles that need more images and making them prettier, for instance.

If you need help or have questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page, ask at the Dump, ask on IRC, or ask an administrator on their talk page. Additionally, the Uncyclopedian Adopt-a-Noob program is here to bring experienced editors straight to you.

Again, welcome!  1234 ~ 16px-Pointy 20:28, 19 May 2011

edit Final Solution

Feedback you want? This article brings a level of scholarship totally appropriate to this website. Good work, cheers! Spıke ¬ 01:45 19-Feb-13

PS--If you had used the Move button, you could have preserved the history and draft copies on the way to the present state. On the other hand, if you want the draft in your userspace deleted, just list it on UN:QVFD and we'll get around to it. Spıke ¬ 01:53 19-Feb-13

On your emerging article on Cambridge, I recall that a user recently was working on a system of categories including South East England. (Or maybe South West.) Locating and using such categories as are available in your article, when ready, will help readers find it. Spıke ¬ 01:53 19-Feb-13

Excellent, there was an article on Cambridge a while back that was both unfunny and has now disappeared so I thought I'd write something.--Apple the Great (talk) 01:55, February 19, 2013 (UTC)

Yikes! yes it looks to have been potty-mouthed chavcruft. The bar is set low but you have already won a high-jump. In fact, I am switching on your autopatrolled bit so your edits won't beg in Special:RecentChanges to be reviewed by a Patroller. You have actually been on the site for longer than this feature has, so you were assumed to be a malicious vandal, until now. Cheers! Spıke ¬ 02:04 19-Feb-13

In other news: I nominated Final Solution for featuring on the main page (vote here); and Snippy asked me to capitalize the S; it's that way on Wikipedia too. Spıke ¬ 03:47 19-Feb-13

Hi Apple. Can you look for a less graphic photo showing pogrom victims? I understand the point you are making but perhaps something else that is similar but not so obvious. Let me know as it is otherwise an excellent article. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 20:31, February 19, 2013 (UTC)

I'll try a pogrom cartoon if I can find one. --Apple the Great (talk) 00:26, February 20, 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for making the accommodation, Apple. (Who knew there were pogrom cartoons? Why did I spend my youth reading The Incredible Hulk?) Spıke ¬ 00:57 20-Feb-13
My thanks too Apple for sorting out a different image for the article. Issue solved! --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 07:05, February 20, 2013 (UTC)

edit Verbosity?

You are right that writing style is an individual thing; but you have the helpful feedback of two readers (and voters) on VFH that the writing here is too complicated. It didn't strike me that way when I nominated it, and I have a sparse writing style; but do your detractors the courtesy of seeing whether there are passages you could simplify without losing anything. In general, tighter is better, except when verbosity is part of the joke. Spıke ¬ 15:44 26-Feb-13
