More importantly, the relevant pages have been moved to more sensible locations, and made a little easier to customise. I haven't added an editintro, as I think the process is pretty well established from UnSignpost:Signup help.                               Puppy's talk page01:35 31 Oct 2013

edit Pee review lite template

Hey. I keep getting sidetracked and having trouble getting back to this. You seem to have an idea in mind as to how this should work, and are pretty handy with code. Are you able to mock up a template?

The way the current template of mine works is with an if/then statement. Pretty much if there's no content in the signature Section it displays one format if there is then it displays another. The scoring stuff is no longer directly relevant, so we can ditch that. I was thinking that we'd do much the same for the newer version of the template, but planning to add review as a field for free-form reviewing, and using a similar if/then statement.

Are you able to pick it up?                               Puppy's talk page02:27 05 Nov 2013

So you think one single template with all the options inside would do?
I will work on it for a while but I cannot promise any results very soon. Anton (talk) 18:21, November 5, 2013 (UTC)
I'm only expecting perfection, so no pressure.                               Puppy's talk page08:33 05 Nov 2013

edit VFD maximum

Please count the number of open ballots carefully, even though our current Wikia bug sometimes doesn't show section numbers; otherwise I should be obliged to give you the same 1-day "no exceptions" ban that ScottPat got, in the name of obsessive consistency! Spıke Ѧ 14:16 7-Nov-13

But it's not more than twenty right now, right? I won't nominate anything else. Anton (talk) 14:23, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Oh, I see: "move" Aleister's Sojourn meant page-move, not move-to-VFD. Spıke Ѧ 14:25 7-Nov-13

edit WTF

Why are you both moving all the My Sojourn things but, maybe more importantly, why are you taking out the "swear" words on the pages you are moving? Please put them back. They fit the formula of the sojourn pages. Thanks. Aleister 7-11

p.s. Did you know that the category "My sojourn" is featured? That should enter the mix of reasoning about these pages as well, imnho. Where is mnnbbvvccxx when we need him.
p.s.s. And AAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhh, you are rewriting the pages as you move them, totally ruining the concept and the pages. I love you like a brother (although he does have a restraining order on me for just that reason) but, bless your heart, I don't think you know what you're doing with these. Please return them to their original states and in their proper homes. Thanks.
That's just the criticism I expected. Well, you might have noticed how dozens of these pages got deleted on VFD recently. So I decided to regroup all of them at UnBooks:My sojourn. And to in order to fit into one book, they should certainly be changed. And I did not removed the swearing part completely, only something I really did not like and what I thought could be replaced with cleverer jokes, not just simple imitation of other Sojourns.
P.S. I have not finished rewriting them and I hope that you will like the final result more. And where does "P.S.S" come from, isn't it "P.P.S"? Anton (talk) 20:39, November 7, 2013 (UTC)
P.S.S. Is an acronym for “Please say something”. I don't understand why the header is the last three days of the work week though.
Adding these together in one UnBook is probably the best way for them to survive. Individually they fall below the standards in HTBFANJS, but they have a consistency together that helps them survive. The double-up of in-jokes is likely to get knocked off along the way though. That time Mr Winkler was BUTT POOP raped by a wizard during my sojourn in AAAAAAA! (Kanye West version) is the first to go.                               Puppy's talk page09:01 07 Nov 2013
You forgot "Go eat shit fuckers". Anton (talk) 20:39, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

Anton's effort to make sense of this rat's-nest of copycat pages is admirable. Spıke Ѧ 21:04 7-Nov-13
He is taking out the swear words (censorship may not be an issue where he lives, but he also lives here in uncyclopedialand) and changing the writing. Which totally destroys the formula which, remember, is a featured formula! It is the only category I know of which is featured. It should be solid as a rock, and left alone. How about putting the reallllly crappy ones up for VFD but not anything that doesn't rise to that level, and leave the rest alone, please. The formula, the category, is featured. And the featured formula is the imitation of the other sojourns.Aleister 7-11
No, neither here nor on VFD am I buying the line that this is an Encyclopedia Anyone Can Edit except for pages your hand has graced, for which we are a museum preserving them in vacuum jars. Spıke Ѧ 21:42 7-Nov-13
Aleister is right to be against removing the swear words. They're a My Sojourn specialty and deserve to stay. Taking them away is, almost, like taking away the yak picture. --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 22:32, November 7, 2013 (UTC)
what? That's why things are featured, so the concept is kept and not randomized. Please explain how we can allow a user to tear apart a category of pages (the only featured category), edit the cuss words out of each article, rewrite them in his style and not in the style of the first of the My Sojourn pages, trims the things which make it unique, and somehow it becomes about me? wha? These pages have had their cursing removed, the swear words, the bad bad words, the wash your mouth out with soap words, the heart and soul of the WTF genius these pages have for those of us who appreciate them. Censorship of the worse kind. And you make it about me? Anyway, censorship, gutting the meme, killing the in-joke, just those minor things. So I'm just weighing in on saving a part of uncy history, which is a bad thing why? Aleister 7-11
Anton, hi. I seem to have gotten into some kind of fight here, with SPIKE, and I may need to go to the mattresses. I don't know what it's about. Anyway, after putting attention on it I'm not at all against the UnBook idea, and am for it actually. Just as is. Each page should be copied into the Content Page of the UnBook exactly how the author's left them at the time you decided to make them into a book. Does that make sense? Aleister 7-11
p.s. This pic and caption you removed from an article I wrote, is one of the main parts of the My Sojourn series (it's like a haiku, or any other formulated piece of writing) - the picture on the right of the page always has words similar to this in them. So by removing the picture and the caption you are chopping the lady in half.

It looked kinda like this, only fucking psycho.

I reverted my edits to your page, right after I made them. And I am not done with editing the articles I moved. If you think that swearing is fine there, then fine, I will read it, only I thought that there could be something cleverer there. Anton (talk) 17:28, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

There are indeed several things cleverer than swearing. There are many things cleverer than swearing to be part of the "in-joke," swearing merely because the author of the model page swore, in other words, to "make it unique" [sic]. Spıke Ѧ 17:49 8-Nov-13
Of course there are things cleverer than swearing. Way off topic. The My Sojourn formula comes from the first My Sojourn page. It's like the first Haiku, the first Locked-Room mystery. There are certain details that have to appear in every My Sojourn story. That formula includes the words "fucking" and "kinda like this, only fucking psycho, an account of the injuries, etc. This is not only an in-joke formula, it is a featured formula. I can see editing some of the worse pages to fit the formula more, but that might include adding swearing. Ok, that said, the point then becomes, if these changes are allowed to stand and the formula is broken (like not allowing haikus and editing past haikus to break the formula), then the charge of pure censorship can be rightfully argued, at the minimum. So how about creating the UnBook but not messing with the pages unless they don't fit the formula? Makes the most sense to me at least, where are the holes in that plan? Thanks. Aleister 8-11
Aleister, I understand you perfectly well and I undid all my deletions of swear words. What I mean is that sometimes in-jokes are just purely stupid imitations of other in-jokes and they might do with a better concept and phrasing. However I noticed that That time I accidentally miscalculated the date of creation during my sojourn in London is a lot cleverer than I thought when I read it for the first time. Probably because of the language barrier, so - sorry. Anton (talk) 20:38, November 8, 2013 (UTC)
right, you have to get into the rhythm of the formula to know if the page is good or not (and I'm winging a lot of these comments, and learning at the same time I'm typing them - so I haven't yet gotten full appreciation of the pages which, I just realize, your unbook can make people do). It is like a haiku. Some haiku's are horrible, and some are great poems. The trick is to fit the concept into the haiku formula and carve it out using a set pattern. Damn, if I'm not appreciating these pages more, and will have to go back and read the good ones. Thanks for opening my sleepy eyes. Your unbook can turn out to be total fun. Aleister going back to read a few now
Hopefully. I myself wrote one as an introduction for it. However, it does not obey the formula, as this exaggerates the formula more when the reader sees it in the next chapters. Anton (talk) 20:58, November 8, 2013 (UTC)
One of the concerns with formulaic writing is that the writing has to be better than the standard in order for it to work. Terry Pratchett included verses of the song “the hedgehog can't be buggered at all” in one of his books. In a later book his dedication was to all the people who sent him extra verses of the song, followed by the words “Oh dreary, dreary me.”
Or, closer to Al's initial example, Haikus Are Stupid.                               Puppy's talk page09:20 08 Nov 2013
Haikus are not stupid! But they do not work in the other languages the same way as they do in Japanese. And where does this UnPoetia come from? Haikus are supposed to be only about nature. Anton (talk) 21:36, November 8, 2013 (UTC)
Serious? I didn't know that, that haikus are supposed to be about nature. Nice. Thanks. And you were right on the voting page for James Bevel's face in a cloud, and I moved all the bottom added stuff to a subpage and funnied it up a bit more (and will continue to work on it). The other stuff added works in a strange way, as I describe on the nom page. Thanks for keeping the thing moving. Aleister 9-11
You are welcome! Nice polishing! Anton (talk) 18:38, November 9, 2013 (UTC)
Love you man. Thanks for the push. I'll keep working on it. Aleister minutes later
Haikus aren't meant to be strictly about nature...though in classical haikus they very frequently used references to nature and almost always had one word which evoked what season it was...and there are often moon words and flowers. But nature references aren't mandatory...and even if there is a nature's often a metaphore for something else...or a way to evoke an emotion rather than say anything about nature. The haikus of the 20th and 21st century more deal with anything but nature these days...or if so only in the most indirect way. And the 5-7-5 rule is rarely respected any more. It has more to do with leaving the feeling of something, evoking something, leaving the reader with anything...anything that isn't clear cut, concrete or a judgement. This is why I think the following haiku is relevant:
Aleister and green grass
a broken type writer
Winter spirited moon poop.
--ShabiDOO 17:05, November 22, 2013 (UTC)
1). I was talking about classical haikus. 2). 5-7-5 should be respected in Japanese but not in other languages, as it simply won't work like this, because if different rythm of languages. 3). Your haiku is great. Anton (talk) 18:55, November 22, 2013 (UTC)

I was surprised to see an edit from you with Summary "Revert Freak the mighty again". But before investigating the history, a post-edit from him deleted a section and added garbage. Assuming this is an emotional overreaction, I have banned him for two days. I will depend on you for clarification if I am the one overreacting. Spıke Ѧ 23:38 9-Nov-13

I looked at the episode he added and thought that it was not ready for main space. Then I saw that you have reverted him twice before (and explained why) and so I added such a change summary. Germany is a good idea for an article. We need to make it as original as possible and try to factor out all Nazi themes. We could even go one step further and deliberately, subtly ignore WW2 and Nazism by never mentioning it and leaving an obvious gap in the German history section. edit A real header which is no better than the header below but is not as annoying due to the edit button appearing close to it

Something really annoying

I just realised that the template that you used as a base for the newer review template has the __NOEDITSECTION__ __NOTOC__ stuff embedded in it. That was done because I was intending to use the headers as anchors, but that shouldn't impact for a PEE review as that would be the only header on the page. I've just realised if we paste this onto talk pages that will bugger that up.

I've created {{H2a}} as a solution. If we replace the headers in there with this template, you should be able to remove those offending magic words.

It looks like a genuine header though, doesn't it?                               Puppy's talk page10:26 am 26 Nov 2013

edit Hot dogs

Thanks for working the BrokenRedirects. However, article titles usually use the singular, we usually don't have redirects from the plural to the singular, and the terms "hotdogs" and "hot dogs" are not so common that they deserve an exception to this rule. So I'll just delete these two. (This is separate from the fact that some other nouns, like corn referring to the food and not the foot sore, don't use the plural at all.) Spıke Ѧ 16:18 23-Dec-13

edit UnBooks:A Post-Apocalyptic Journal‎‎

Romartus seems to have passed by Sec. 21 of his talk page. I would like a second opinion: Would you please decide whether the unpatrolled edits to this article from 20-Dec are a stream-of-consciousness rant that doesn't fit, or one that does fit? Spıke Ѧ 19:15 26-Dec-13

The original author wrote a pretty serious analysis of a survivor's feelings mixing it with some jokes. Then he left a template, saying that he is stuck and never came back to the article. In 2012, an IP editor came and added an entry about condoms and this idea was pursued by our IP editor. So, the last paragraphs do not fit in with the author's original concept and with the article's first part, but they do fit in with the first IP's jokes, which made the article funnier, even if it became dirtier than before. I think that patrolling these changes for now would be a good idea but the article should be rewritten. Anton (talk) 19:34, December 26, 2013 (UTC)
By the way, shouldn't it be "Post-apocalyptic"? Anton (talk) 19:36, December 26, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the analysis. I've marked it patrolled for now. Yes, it should. However, "pretty serious analysis [mixed] with some jokes" no more belongs here than pretty serious political advocacy mixed with some jokes; humor should be the driving goal. Spıke Ѧ 19:38 26-Dec-13

That's what I also thought, but the article has now both potential and humour; I think it only needs to be more satirical at the beginning and less dirty at the end. Anton (talk) 19:44, December 26, 2013 (UTC)
The article is rewritten right now. Anton (talk) 19:55, December 27, 2013 (UTC)

edit Obama photo on QVFD

I carried out your request to delete this photo, as Erectus123 had already uploaded one. (He never actually edited the article to reference it; that fell to me.) In retrospect, however, there is no rule against an UnNews having multiple photos, and with a suitable caption, your upload might have found a home.

Erectus's next photo solution was more disruptive and earned him a scolding and a two-hour ban, which might be too short for him to see.

Separately, I appreciate your intervention with The Norlo. He quickly went from inviting me (perhaps as a guilt-trip) to deal with his contributions as I saw fit, to a declaration that he would not continue here. Whether he simply has a problem with me personally, or brings some sort of attitude to the place, it's helpful for someone else to take the lead. Spıke Ѧ 23:26 27-Dec-13

edit SPAN in UnSignpost

I am baffled that <SPAN> tags should not work in the UnSignpost, as there is nothing in HTML that keeps properly coded SPANs from being nested inside one another. Puppy will have the explanation — but will be asleep right around now. At any rate, what I was trying to do with this one is imitate the boldfaced red of the elapsed-time clock of VFD. Perhaps the deprecated <FONT> tag would work. Spıke Ѧ 18:16 28-Dec-13

I tried font and it didn't work as well. The same thing is with external links. Don't know why, but the article template should have the answer. Thank you for your editing of the first article! Anton (talk) 15:39, December 29, 2013 (UTC)
If there was a span tag in the Template:USP article, which is used for putting articles inside the UnSignpost issues, could this be the cause of this problem? Anton (talk) 15:55, December 29, 2013 (UTC)
Normally, no; they (and all terminated tags) are designed to allow several to be nested inside one another. Spıke Ѧ 15:58 29-Dec-13
And can it be because everything is inside the #ifeq template? Anton (talk) 19:11, December 29, 2013 (UTC)
No; I see no way that conditional code around my <SPAN> and </SPAN> could make one of them render and the other one not render. Spıke Ѧ 19:25 29-Dec-13

Then I am seriously confused. Is Pup asleep? Anton (talk) 19:53, December 29, 2013 (UTC)

Surely he has not been asleep continuously since we started this conversation over a day ago! One thing that could happen to a SPAN is that outside code could define a CSS rule {display: none} that would turn off all SPANs in that range. This would be truly perverse coding; furthermore, no Uncyclopedian can use CSS to affect how another user sees a page (unless you get me to put the perversion into MediaWiki:Common.css, and I don't think I did). Spıke Ѧ 20:05 29-Dec-13
Okay, it is because the entire text of the article is an argument that goes into a template, and evidently tags PLUS quotes disrupt it in ways that I don't understand. Spıke Ѧ 20:16 29-Dec-13

edit They tell me you seek an original conspiracy article... I dug this one up from the smoldering ruins of Building No. 7. Enjoy! And happiest of New Year's to you and yours, and if you see any members of Pussy Riot walking around, give them a hug and a kiss from...Aleister 16:32 31-12-13

Thank you! Unfortunately, I haven't seen any of them in a while. Happy New Year! Anton (talk) 16:19, January 1, 2014 (UTC)

A very Merry Christmas to you and yours. Aleister 21:37 Christmas Eve 6-1-14

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Did you celebrate it? If yes, then happy late Christmas! If not, then still happy late Christmas! Anton (talk) 13:44, January 8, 2014 (UTC)

edit Just a few words....

As no one has written a page to explain how to use the new pee review system (as far as I am aware) I am still unaware of where I am meant to post the review and where it is that one aquires the template names and what templates to use etc., I made a comment about your article The Ghost Writer (film) below.

The line, "The Ghost Writer is not the real name of a film featuring a British actor" does not make sense to me as "a film" implies any film with a British actor (still wouldn't make sense with the as that would imply there was only on film ever made with a British actor) and so you are saying that no films with British actors are called Ghost Writer, which isn't something an encyclopedia would say and doesn't really make sense in English anyway (you wouldn't reply to a question "Which schools have you been to?" with "Well these are the schools that I never went to..."). I am unable to make sense of your meaning and so my only suggestion is "Thanks to the fact that the film features a British actor, the film isn't allowed to be named "The Ghost Rider" and instead was simply named "the Ghost"" (please re-word that to make it look nicer if you want to use that). I am less worried about the Boolean logic of that excerpt, as Anton surely set out to state the opposite of the truth, and does so (and he boldfaces not for emphasis). No, no encyclopedia would say that, but then again, no other encyclopedia would crack wise as we do! 16:03 PS--If Anton meant to deny that this is a specific movie of which the reader is aware, it may suffice to change one "a" to "the". Thank you for the comment! If you want to write a review for any articles, which is waiting to be review, then it should be fairly easy (tell me if it isn't). If you would like to write a light review on a talkpage, then the name of the template is and the fields that you have to fill out are:
{{Review template
|ReviewLite=Your comments

And if you want to insert a score, then insert a field called "Rscore" in the template.

What concerns The Ghost Writer, that joke was not exactly a joke but rather a parody of Wikipedia articles that always start in the same way. The point I made was that the film is now called The Ghost Writer, but its original (British) name was The Ghost. Whilst the truth is that both names are used to refer to it. I think I will change 'a' to 'the' but I am not sure whether I can rephrase it, so the sense will be the same. Thank you for letting me know! Anton (talk) 17:32, January 9, 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your edits! Things that I didn't phrase well, now seem to make more sense and are even funny! Anton (talk) 17:38, January 9, 2014 (UTC)

Not here, but sometimes, setting out to do the exact opposite of Wikipedia is dangerous, as when Anon decides that a Wikipedian is a know-it-all and writes an Uncyclopedia article along the tired "nobody knows" theme. It is amazing to vote for an article where we are not sure exactly what Anton meant to write — but, despite that, it is a playful conundrum. But take a look at the photo captions and see if you can't tighten them up too. Spıke Ѧ 17:41 9-Jan-14
