edit Concerning review of The Last King of Scotland

Thanks once again for an excellent review. When I have more time I must repay you with another. Here are just a few points:

  • His capital was an island (the Isle of Skye (true fact)) so he arrived on his capital as you arrive on an island and not at an island.
  • "For some reason however..." is fine to say. Serial commas in English a very peculiar things. Many people don't use them a lot especially at words such as "and" "however" or "but." Others use them a lot. I do not use them much however one could be put between "reason" and "however" as my dialect of English does not use serial commas.
  • I didn't know whether he had a son or not although a direct descendant still lives in France. Also the seen on the Church rooftop never took place and was just a joke on the Catholic Church not allowing women bishops.
  • I didn't realise there was a movie with the name of the article when I orignally wrote it. It was a requested article and so I presumed it was meant to be about the last Stuart claimant to the Throne of England and Scotland.

It was not too hard for me to write about the Scots being pathetic. Despite being a Scot I do not live in Scotland, do not have the accent and am half-English. I consider myself a Scot at heart however I am surrounded by Southerners who detest the North and loath the Scots so I am surrounded by the anti-Scottish view point. You are welcome and well done with your article! It is even better that the article "The Last King of Scotland" is not about a movie but about the Real Last Kong Of Scotland. This can be interpreted as a parody on a Wikipedia article: they talk about an unknown movie, as they don't really care for Scotland, while we are (well, you are) real patriots! But, as I have suggested in my review, you can add one or two lines about the film (if feel like it, of course). Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 14:41, June 21, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. Perhaps I can add in the old-joke of them filming a film of him in the 18th Century! Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 14:43, June 21, 2013 (UTC)
You can. By the way, I became aware of the movie after clicking the link to the Wikipedia article in your article. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 14:49, June 21, 2013 (UTC)

And also congratulations with the feature of the Emu War! Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 15:00, June 21, 2013 (UTC)
Thank you! Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 15:07, June 21, 2013 (UTC)
I dissent from the original point of grammar. Even if I live on a houseboat rather than in a house, I do not therefore say I get on bed. If the reader does not know that the capital is an island, or if it is not clear to the reader that his arrival is a boat landing, that sentence will look incorrect. Spıke ¬ 18:00 23-Jun-13
I see what you mean however saying "he arrived on the Isle of Skye" makes sense however saying "he arrived at the Isle of Skye" could make sense but doesn't sound as correct. I cannot explain why easily as I am only going by my natural knowledge of the language (it might even be a colloquial grammar problem) however it makes more sense in my understanding to say that you are "on" an island not "at" an island. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 11:14, July 10, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, but we were talking about arriving in the capital. And I think that the fact that the capital is the island does not change the way you say it (you cannot say arrive on the capital). Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 11:28, July 10, 2013 (UTC)

However this whole island was his capital. "He arrived on his capital, the Isle of Skye" makes perfect sense here. (It was a small island). Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 11:39, July 10, 2013 (UTC)
Ok, that seems to be fine now. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 11:44, July 10, 2013 (UTC)
PS - I've done some more research and "to arrive at" can only be used for a station, airport or town etc. Therefore cannot be used for a whole island which is probably why I thought it sounded wrong in my head. So it is better to use "arrive on" here. "Arrive in" could be used if the Isle of Skye was a city or country however it is simply a land mass that is part of the UK. edit Yngwie J. Malmsteen

You write at VFD, "I don't know if the article was good or not." All five voters said it was not, and explained why. At VFD, you always have a minimum of 24 hours to visit nominated articles and see if you agree; in this case, you had about 150 hours and did not see if you agreed. If you are really interested in writing an article on Mr. (or Ms.) Malmsteen, believe me that there was no humor in this article except the humor of writing random things, and the most random new things you write will be no worse. Spıke ¬ 12:27 21-Jun-13

Thank you for your comment: I have abandoned the VFD for two weeks and that's why was not aware of anything happening there and therefore did not read this text. I saw that there were five votes again, but as you said that this page is on nobody, I thought that perhaps you did not understand the humor not knowing about the existence of that person. If this article had bad humor, then it's all fine about its deletion. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 14:47, June 21, 2013 (UTC)

You are free to boycott VFD, but you are not free to have the same influence (such as the ability to save nominated articles) that you would have had if you did not boycott it. Spıke ¬ 18:00 23-Jun-13

I did not really boycott it. Normally, I follow everything using my e-mail (I find that easier than watching looking at Recent Changes) and therefore get an idea about everything that happens to the pages I am following. But sometimes, for a while, I stop receiving mails even though the changes are made. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 18:08, June 23, 2013 (UTC)

edit A Simple, (Non-Binding) Request

Hi there Anton! I've seen a lot of your work, and I gotta say... I'm impressed! You are truly, a great writer! Now, you may have not heard of me, but you may have seen my edit patrolling... or something about a "Denza." Anyways, I have a simple request, that you can refuse if you like, and no ill will shall come of said refusal. Could we maybe work on a collaborative article? I really want to write an article, but I keep getting stuck! It is quite annoying running out of ideas mid-article I think a partner would be great to have in writing articles! So what do you say? The article can be about anything you wish (I'm terrible at choosing between topics and such). So what do you say? I'll be awaiting your response! --The Shield of Azunai DSA510My Edits! 05:54, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I would like to collaborate. I am not sure if I have a lot of time but you are not in a hurry, are you? The topic could be anything. For example, as you say, that you are getting stuck in the middle of an article, we can take anything that you began to write (I don't know if you did or not) and continue working on it. If you want a new article, I have made a list of articles that need to be written and of already existing unfunny ones and you can use it (the link). As I am away for two weeks there will unfortunately be no UnSignpost. Could I trouble you in asking you whether you could create one and distribute it at some point during those two weeks. edit English is a bemusing Language

I just noticed an error on your user page under "Reasons for being here." You have written "an utopia" however it is actually written "a utopia." I know we all have learnt the rule that in English you put "an" before a word with a vowel, unfortunately as with most English rules there are exceptions and words that start with a "y" sound such as "utopia" have "a" not "an" in front. This may be different for another dialect of English if they pronounce utopia with a "ooh (u)" sound in which case I am sorry for troubling you however as far as I know no one says that. Sorry to bother you. Thanks. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 16:59, June 23, 2013 (UTC)

I can confirm that this is the correct rule on this other side of the ocean--although it is applied incorrectly over here too. Peter Schickele (creator of the "P.D.Q. Bach" hoax) was ridiculing this, not falling prey to it, when he wrote of An Hysteric Return [sic]. Spıke ¬ 17:47 23-Jun-13
PS--Anton, I suggested somewhere that you review the progressive tense, after editing the final paragraph of Brittany: It signifies not the current era but the current moment. Another lesson to brush up on is that verbs of cognition break the rules. A demented college classmate of mine apparently decided it would be more logical to tell us, "That is not what I am meaning!" That is indeed the current moment; only, because it is a verb of cognition, we use the simple present tense ("what I mean"). Spıke ¬ 17:53 23-Jun-13
Ok, I will look at it. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 18:03, June 23, 2013 (UTC)
I am very bad at knowing all the English technical terms for my own language as, as my native Spanish teacher once told me, only the English (English speakers I presume) don't learn the names and rules for their complicated verb tenses when they learn it naturally (apparently Spaniards and French people do). I agree with Spike but this is more of a query. It is fine to say "That is not what I am saying" so is that an exception to the rule? The preceding unsigned comment was added by ScottPat (talk • contribs)
"Say" is an exception to the exception--that is, it is no exception at all (as it is not a verb of cognition). You can either refer to what you say (habitually: the simple present tense) or what you are saying (right now: the progressive tense). You can never discuss "what you are meaning," because verbs of cognition do not take the progressive tense. Spıke ¬ 18:13 23-Jun-13
You know, I am thinking (!) of exceptions all over the map, so maybe the rule is not "verbs of cognition." Though "I think" is a common way to prefix one's opinion, "I am thinking" is accepted to describe the current moment, and even colloquially to describe habit: "I'm thinking he's just mean." "I am hoping" is just as good as "I hope" and both seem to be describing the current moment, otherwise you'd have to go to "I tend to hope." But "I am wanting" is almost as incorrect as "I am meaning." Dammit, now I am confused. Like hitting a split-fingered fastball: One needs repetitions. Spıke ¬ 18:20 23-Jun-13
PS--Neither Shertzer's The Elements of Grammar nor WP:Continuous and progressive aspects say a word about this exception. Spıke ¬ 18:31 23-Jun-13
I see, I see. Thanks. "I am wanting" is incorrect, yes. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 18:45, June 23, 2013 (UTC)

edit Next UnSignpost

I saw you remarking that you are Home Alone again for another UnSignpost, which you hope to publish tomorrow. In my opinion, your take at Forum:A big British clean-up is the period's lead story: That ChiefjusticeDS, hoping to improve the quality of our articles on British cities and towns (as though you and I knew anything about that!) is certainly responsible for inviting Brit Slayer to trash them all. I would start this off, but there is no page set up for independent dabbling, as there was two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the country is on holiday (Independence Day), there is no baseball within two hours that I want to attend, all the stuff on talk radio is "best-of," and it is too hot to go outdoors. So I will be on-site all day. Spıke ¬ 15:13 4-Jul-13

I think it is a good topic to write about. Howevere, as you said that we should not promote vandals, I dismissed this idea.
Concerning the comment on your talk page, I found the Monkey page accidentally. So I would like to help Uncyclopedia with deleting all these memes but I am not sure if I will be able to find them. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 17:20, July 4, 2013 (UTC)

I may be able to write about it without giving the vandal in question something he will view as a merit badge. Where should I start typing? Spıke ¬ 17:25 4-Jul-13

Thank you beforehand! UnSignpost is not my only calling on Uncyclopedia and that's why I like this site so much. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 17:42, July 4, 2013 (UTC)
Under way now. But please don't use my biopic this issue as planned; that's too much of one person in a single issue. Spıke ¬ 18:09 4-Jul-13

To Romartus: any PLS news would be great. If you are planning to announce winners tomorrow, then the article about it can be written tomorrow. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 20:06, July 4, 2013 (UTC)
I will do once I and Puppy submit our winners and see who has come out on top. There will be a 1-2-3 ranking. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 20:09, July 4, 2013 (UTC)

Yes. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 20:18, July 4, 2013 (UTC)
That's good. Then the issue will be printed tomorrow and will be delivered to our readers by bikes. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 20:23, July 4, 2013 (UTC)
The PLS news (being something intentional for which we want to honor winners) should be given first billing over my story that dances around the unsavory topic of vandalism of the site. Spıke ¬ 20:36 4-Jul-13
I will move your article. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 20:39, July 4, 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for moving the heading. To be more organized, I have put "used" next to the already used biopic contributions. And if you look at that page, you will se that the only one that is not used is yours. I will contribute to this myself sooner or later but if I put my contribution there, it will be even more of one person in a single issue. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 06:27, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
Also, if you have any idea why your article became so thin, please, help me to fix it. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 10:36, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
It's fixed. Repeating my Change Summary, the left column became thin because you placed an item in the right column that cannot wrap, so browsers respond by giving the right column the maximum possible space. My solution was to delete the item, as there is nothing funny about it: It is garden-variety vandalism. You are the editor (or acting editor, or whatever) but I dislike the rebirth of this feature, as it encourages banning and huffing merely for the chance to make wisecracks that the victim is likely to take in the worst possible way. Spıke ¬ 12:36 5-Jul-13
Ok, thanks! I thought it might be funny but it probably does offend the victim. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 12:40, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
I haven't thought about that because I saw that this was used in the old UnSignposts. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 12:41, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
Yes it was, but that was back in the day when Admins gave one another joke-bans for sport, then published the joke in the UnSignpost just to get more mileage out of it. I don't mean that the victim will be offended by seeing his ban message in the UnSignpost--He has either gone away or we mostly don't care--but by the original ban/huff message, which ought not joke around but explain in a businesslike way the reason for the penalty. Spıke ¬ 13:06 5-Jul-13
Ok. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 13:15, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
And what do you think about biopic contributions? (One of the above comments) Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 13:27, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
Romartus, thank you for the article! Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 13:29, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
Spike, I will put my biopic contribution right now because my signature is not present there. And then I will publish the issue. Thank you for contributing! Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 14:05, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

edit The Fork problem

Anton, I know your current dabbling at the Fork has the good intention of attracting some of its authors here, though the split is about things that pre-date you, and also about things that are not the things it claims to be about. I think it also results in us losing more of your time here than we will gain from the Fork. In the meantime, however, would you please not use the UnSignpost to violate our Terms of Use, by inducing other readers to leave our webhost to sample a competing website? Spıke ¬ 14:14 5-Jul-13

Can I rephrase the article, so it will ask the readers to help our VFH by looking for good articles on the fork? Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 14:16, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
Check on the author and see if they have a talk page here like Leverage and you can make the suggestion that way. If they haven't then there is nothing you can do. There may be an instance where you see a pre-split article featured on the Fork and think it would work here but only use the version you see on this site. For example, Titanic. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 14:45, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
I changed my article. Now I don't call the readers to the fork. I agree that the instructions you (Romartus) wrote are reasonable and probably the best, and if any of the readers has any questions about the project, I can just tell them that we need more VFH material and, therefore, can bring some articles from the fork if they are good. Can I leave the article and publish the issue? Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 14:53, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

Romartus explained to you in your Forum that the two sites will both continue to exist as long as their respective owners see fit, and I explained to you there that the two sites are developing different personalities. Do not use the UnSignpost to feed your personal campaign as Peacemaker. It has already been responded to by another Forum by IFYMB! (whose one-year ban Romartus has seen fit to suspend) asking us to feature the Fork's 40 most recent FAs. I have deleted this. In other words, your peacemaking is being met by trolling (not that everyone at the Fork is behind it). The gist of your UnSignpost article remains that we drop what we are doing (Romartus's Mordillo edict--write a funny article) in favor of inter-website politics. Spıke ¬ 16:30 5-Jul-13

Um, I wasn't trolling. I am actually for the idea, but I wanted to see how you guys would respond if we asked you to feature our already featured articles. IFYMB! (talk)
Well, this is what I suggested. But I said that we should choose the best articles and feature them, not just the 40 most recent. To Spike: newspapers should inform the readers and, as the problems I caused this week are rather significant (a lot of users took part in the discussion), I think there should be an article about it. I will try to change it even more, so it will be informing the reader. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 16:44, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
Also, the fact that it may bring the uncycs together is almost certainly the best reason for it. I don't like to admit it, but we need each other. IFYMB! (talk)
IFYMB!, so you agree with my ideas? Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 16:58, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
Oh yeah. I mean, lets see how the VFH's play out, but if things keep getting worse then I think this is the way to go. As there is not much I can do here since SPIKE has me down as a troll who needs to be crushed, I will try to get others on the non-wiki to understand it could be useful. IFYMB! (talk)
And that's what I did. And here's what I got. I agree that we should wait and if the affairs become worse on the VFH, then something should be done.
To Spike: I have changed the article even more. Now it is purely informative. And I think I will publish the newspaper, as I won't have much time later. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 17:08, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

edit Doing things on uncyclopedia

You are free to do what you like on uncyclopedia as long as you don't break anything or interfere with maintainence or anything that has a specific proceedure or obnoxious. You don't have to ask permission to do things Anton. Even if you have a new idea, go ahead and start a forum or just do it if its nothing monumental. If it goes to far, an user or admin will tell you and (hopefully) not be nasty/condescending in the process. Anything we can do to get more users interested and (with a hell of a lot of luck) a community of writers helping each other write is a very good thing. --ShabiDOO 12:59, July 9, 2013 (UTC)

Is it my lucky number for today pr for my entire life? Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 17:07, July 9, 2013 (UTC)
Wow, isn't anarchy so boring! My lucky number is 42. Oh shit there goes another galaxy! Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 17:43, July 9, 2013 (UTC)
My guarian angel told me that your lucky number is not 42 ScottPat as you claim but that it instead, is any prime number that ends with "1". --ShabiDOO 18:41, July 9, 2013 (UTC)
Oh well at least it wasn't a Guardian Angel because I don't believe in them. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 18:52, July 9, 2013 (UTC)
It woould be better if they would exist...Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 06:51, July 10, 2013 (UTC)
Guardian Angels is basically a contradiction. You take a left-wing word and shove it in with a right-wing ideal. They should be Telegraph Angels or Daily Mail Angels. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 11:32, July 10, 2013 (UTC)
Yes, isn't it communists who wanted to confuse people and so introduced the term? Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 11:34, July 10, 2013 (UTC)
I am your guardian angel. --ShabiDOO 02:10, July 11, 2013 (UTC)
Well, hello then! Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 08:38, July 11, 2013 (UTC)

Did you have a conflict or something? Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 06:51, July 10, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, on IRC. Death To The West (talk)
Why? Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 07:13, July 10, 2013 (UTC)
Two words: Zombiebaron's OP status... wait, that's three words. Anyhow, Hotadmin4u69 resolved it. So I'm back in the fork... This would be good material for their "100 Worst Reflections on 2013" Denza quits uncyclopedia for 15 minutes, and then comes back to the site as his old self... buisness as usual. Basically IRC is serious buisness --The Shield of Azunai DSA510My Edits! 09:43, July 10, 2013 (UTC)
What was the problem with Zombiebaron's OP status? Sorry for being too curious but I am really interested in what happened after you left the message about your leaving at several talk pages including Spike's. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 10:40, July 10, 2013 (UTC)
