Just a quick idea

Since you mentioned you liked the article, and know so much about making audio files for unnews, I was just thinking it would be super (if you wanted, of course) to add a section to HowTo:Get Started on Editing Uncyclopedia devoted to simple instructions on how to upload audio files (I know it's probably really basic, but maybe you could share some recording tips with us, since you've done so much of it. I've heard taping in the bathroom is supposed to give you really good acoustics).

--Hrodulf 14:47, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

This is probably a good idea. I'll have to give it some thought because my methodologies are a bit cumbersome, and I've been thinking about how to streamling the process anyway. I'll talk with Olipro and others about it. Great idea. Zimbuddha Rev. Zim (Talk) Get saved! 15:41, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

UnNews:Mystery of Anthrax letters persists

This audio came out really well, since it seems to work well as a sound file, given the subject matter; I remember watching the TV updates about the real anthrax attacks. It's just a story that screams for multimedia.

I think I've been flirting with the thin line of taste a little bit here (and possibly in my third submission, the one about the race-oriented Survivor reality show), but as long as it comes from the right place, laughs and not anger, and people do enjoy the humor, I don't think there's any harm.

Of course, it would be awful if someone who was a relative of an anthrax attack victim read this article and took offense, and I would regret it if that happened, but on the whole, I think that being able to laugh at this twisted world we have to suffer through at this time in history has its own intrinsic value. Humor that is afraid to offend anybody is too timid to do the job in this type of extreme world situation that we're living through at the present time. People forget that just days after 9/11, Gilbert Gottfried said on stage that he had to catch a plane to the Empire State Building.

He got booed, but thank goodness he cracked that joke. It showed that we weren't intimidated, and that we can get through anything with a laugh and some luck.

Thanks again for another great audio.

UnNews:Sesame Street introduces new character

Thanks again for the audio; this was unusual for me, coming up with two ideas relatively quickly (of course, they were both muppet related, so I suppose that helped me make parodic connections), and I was surprised and pleased that you chose to audio the Abby Cadaver one actually, since I didn't think the story was as good as the Mokey one. I guess the idea had some appeal.
I don't think it came out in the story, but two of the things I was trying to poke fun at was early sesame street's inadvertantly including things that frightened children (I personally recall a skeleton during a sketch about the muppet "the count" that was pretty scary), as well as problems with children who watched the show imitating the muppets (there were reports of children banging their head against piano keyboards in imitation of Don Music, reports of children throwing themselves down flights of stairs like in the "baker sketch," etc).
I also took a dig at the 'enhanced underwriting' the show has now, in this case, the content was compromised because the psychologist cabal wants kids to be disturbed and warped so they will need lots of therapy, equalling lots of money for them, of course. I was trying to make fun of the situation of Sesame Street doing things like trying to teach kids about nutrition, and the "enhanced underwriter" (erm, can I just say sponsor?) is McDonalds. I know not all McDonalds foods are bad for you, but most kids probably don't have the presence of mind to reject super-fattening food choices, and there are some things on their menu, like the McNuggets, that really shouldn't be eaten by anybody because they are so unhealthy. In fact the whole kids menu there is mostly fried; it's actually usually safer for them to eat from the adult menu for this reason.
Anyway, obviously the most fun here came from creating the 'Abby Cadaver' image and the name itself. It's not quite original, I recall an episode of some cartoon from a few years ago called "Abracadaver" I think, but it worked well in this parodic context. To make the image, I just cut and pasted (manipulating slightly of course) pixels from a picture of a halloween mask representing a skinned female head, and tweaked it a bit to try to make it work (of course it wasn't perfect since I'm not the best image editor, but I realized that an article like this really was screaming for a picture; I figure what I did is better than nothing).
I'm not anti-Abby or anti Sesame Street or anything, I just think find some of the absurdities of the show, and its history, humorous, particularly the McDonalds sponsorship. Why not have Phillip Morris sponsor the show too? And Jack Daniels? ("You're not old enough to drink now, but when you are, try some"). How far are we going to go with this exploitation of children's ignorance to make money for unethical companies by putting a cute, furry face on greed?

PS: check out http://hrodulf.deviantart.com/gallery/ if you want my 'artistic statement' concerning the above (I drew this back in February, but it seems appropriate, given the direction my explanation of the article has gone in). --Hrodulf 14:33, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

No problem.... I'll try to remember that. I just got used to capitalizing every word, and I noticed some other articles do that too. I am all for consistency though. UnNews:Bin Laden releases video; demands release of Mokey plush

I gave you an improvement credit on my userpage's link to this article (my tenth; I may need a special subpage eventually if it gets too lengthy in the upcoming years . . .). Your edits definately made the piece more readable and the extra picture, caption, and source were fun.

I wrote this mainly to make fun of the terrorists thinking they could actually drive the US out of the middle east by what they're doing; I was thinking a bit of the old joke about the three men who ask Napoleon for things, the first two ask for independence of their homelands, and the third asks for a herring, and the first two say to the third that he's an idiot, and he says "you asked for things you'll never get, whereas I may actually get a herring."

Also a slight dig at the muppet fans in the forums, obviously, but it's a good natured one; fan pressure is actually why the show's coming out on dvd now, so I wouldn't want people to think I'm against any fan demands per se, although they do have their comedic aspect that I'm exploiting here; of course, this is uncyclopedia and we make fun of everybody and everything, deserved or not.

I'm glad I was also able to stick in a reference to that great picture of the people who downloaded their osama pictures for their protest, and failed to notice that Bert was in the picture, lol. I made good use of the skew function on that edit.

This was a fun piece to write and hopefully it will get a few laughs.

Hey, uh, Rev...

Are you going to get the "All-Purpose Jesus" article up as an audio file anytime soon? If so, I'd be glad to hear it. Anyway, even if you don't...

Um, Reverend...

Hey, listen, Rev...

Uh, first off, I don't know how to get the audio for my Billy Mays article up. Secondly, uh...could you, like, make it the top story on UnNews for me? 'Cause I would really appreciate it if you do.

Hey, uh, Reverend...

Uh, how do you get a news article up onto the Uncyclopedia main page? 'Cause I would really appreciate it if you did so to that special article we worked on together.

Hey, Rev...

I, uh, just want to thank you for looking out for me. You're probably asleep right now, but I feel I owe you a debt of gratitude. You've been fun to work with, loyal, and you have a great sense of humor. And, for that...

Hey Rev

You're quick out of the blocks. No sooner had a put that fakakte pirate story up than you'd recorded the bastard (and made it the top story, I guess). I couldn't have done it if you hadn't yelled "Shalom, bitch!" at me the other day.

I enjoyed your work on my George Bush bollocks too. I guess that Texan accent thing was a labour of, well, labour for you. You're a true mensch (if a goy's allowed to say that sort of thing, that is). -- Sir Armando Perentie Icons-flag-au KUN FP 14:20, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Anyways, a question if you will hon. rev. I'm writing a HowTo piece - how to learn Hebrew and I'd like to add some audio for the speaking part. Mind giving me some tips about HowTo do it? Hey Rev,

Thanks again for the sterling audio work on Cthulhu (yeah, it was actually mine). You're like a cross between Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather and Bryant Gumble. Cheers -- Sir Armando Perentie Icons-flag-au KUN FP 13:21, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
