Tooltrolls are a semi-subterranean, hoplotropic human sub-species, commonly found in workshops, boiler rooms, electrical vaults, manholes, and myriads of other places useful work is done.

It is expected that, should the tooltroll subrace die out completely, the rest of humanity will quickly follow. This is due to the fact that, were it not for tooltrolls to perform the basic tasks of civilization, the suit-wearing, chair-bound paper-pushers would be left to live in caves and defecate in their own water supply. In all likelihood, 99% of those who managed to survive until the first winter would perish before spring without anyone to light the pilot in the furnace/boiler.
