1. Go to Special:Contact/rename-account

The simplicity of it all! All hail the great user database merge!

Please delete the information

Hello Sannse. Please remove the information:, so at the request of the author. Carill8 (talk)

Are Caram and Carill8 related? --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 23:32, June 20, 2015 (UTC)

You just need to remove the information: Yes, the accounts are linked, but you need only delete user information Caram. Carill8 (talk)

It looks like Romartus or one of the other admins will deal with this, so I'll leave it to them -- sannse@Wikia (talk) 20:31, June 22, 2015 (UTC)

Username merge to: AStranger195

Hello, Sannse! I am AStranger195 and I want to merge my Wikia account and my then-Uncyclopedia-only account Stranger195. I forgot to set an e-mail before the merge happened so it didn't merge that time.

I've replied over there... And this statement is dual licensed. -- sannse @Wikia (help forum | blog) 21:57, August 7, 2015 (UTC)

Global database and licence

Stupid question possibly, but a part time user has made me question this. Wikia globally is under CC-BY-SA 3.0, as far a I recall, and Uncyc has been under CC-BY-NC-SA 2.0, according to the thingy at the bottom of the page and under this edit box as I type. With the move to a global database there has been no mention of the licensing changing, and all edits prior to any changes would still be under the previous licence. Now that I've made the short question long, are there any plans to change the licence agreement here? If so, given the overwhelming bulk of out pages are under a previous non-commercial licence, what would happen to the older content? Also - your message to the top here still relates to a separate user database. You need to tweak your pink box. The previous edit was signed by PuppyOnTheRadio, but he is too lazy to create a signature yet. 04:04 am 08 Aug 2015
Just a minor correction, I think the link at the bottom says uncy is under CC-BY-NC-SA 3.0. I also had a question, which is: prior to this database merge, has uncy content been used in any different way than the content of other Wikia wikis, seeing they were licensed differently? Anton (talk) 14:14, August 8, 2015 (UTC)
The license is still the same, and couldn't be changed (without the permission of all past users anyway, so, effectively, couldn't). Remember, it is only the user database that's changed anyway. But even if we were to move the content to a different storage system, that wouldn't affect the license.
Our licensing notices include the fact that we have some wikias under an -nc license, there are a few dotted around other than Uncyc. There is a statement in there that allows us to display ads on these wikias, although that doesn't currently happen on Uncyc of course. I've always said that Uncyclopedia will likely have ads one day (you could find that said many times in my contribs if you were bored enough to look) but so far I've been wrong on that.
Actually, I believe that the link on the copyright notices here is out of date. They should point to Wikia's licensing page, which in turn points to the CC-by-nc-sa. But either way, the license stands.
On your question Anton, the only time that I'm aware of that -nc content was used differently, was when we excluded -nc wikias (notably Memory Alpha) from an arrangement we had with Rotten Tomatoes to display pages from Wikia alongside their TV pages. That wouldn't have affected Uncyclopedia, because it's the wrong sort of content for that use anyway. But had a similar use come up that included humor wikias, we would have excluded Uncyc in the same way.
Did that answer everything? -- sannse @Wikia (help forum | blog) 23:39, August 9, 2015 (UTC) (p.s. I miss message walls every time I come here)
Yes, it did - at least for me. Thanks, Sannse! Anton (talk) 23:53, August 9, 2015 (UTC)
It was pretty much as I thought. Except for the bit about message walls. I've need seen an advantage above a standard talk page. The previous edit was signed by PuppyOnTheRadio, but he is too lazy to create a signature yet. 12:51 am 10 Aug 2015
TBH, there may not be much of one for monobook wikias. You don't need to archive them (but it can be harder to find old conversations), and the keep each conversation nicely separated and easier to follow. But the big advantage is notifications. All participants of a conversation are notified of new messages, whether it's their wall or not. but I don't think they show on monobook, certainly not for cross-wikia notifications. Oh well, talk pages it is -- sannse @Wikia (help forum | blog) 01:34, August 10, 2015 (UTC)
