IE for Mac was the default browser for the Mac from 1997 until the release of Safari in 2003. Mac users cheered when Steve Jobs announced that IE will become the default browser on Macs. In a twist of fate, IE for Mac was in many ways a better IE than the Windows version, with better standards support that made it incompatible with pages designed with IE for Windows in mind.
