This article is quite a funny piece, mainly because of how you've portrayed the fantasy realms and how badly they're affected by their precious adventurers abandoning them because of the WoW expansion pack. This piece takes a really nice dig at the mechanics of MMORPGs, and how much they depend on the number of players to sustain them. The problem is, I wasn't exactly laughing all the way through. Though it is a very well-written piece, it's not exactly one of the funniest articles here on Uncyclopedia, or even UnNews for that matter. Try to see if you can find any more aspects where these realms may have been adversely affected.
A very nice concept, indeed. The idea of how much damage an MMORPG expansion pack can do to existing fantasy realms is a rather smart one, and I commend you for the originality of your ideas here. Now all we need to see is the WoW guys gloating over how they've snatched the players away yet again.
Prose and formatting:
The article is very well written, in the style of a proper news piece. It's rather amusing to watch UnNews journalists interviewing entirely fictional NPC characters, and giving us all the scoop on the sudden plight these realms face thanks to the players abandoning them. A very good job, given that this is first-hand journalism we're talking about.
Not much to say here. You put an image of the Cataclysm expansion pack with a witty subtitle. You did pretty much what is required for an UnNews article.
My gut feeling
Overall, a well-written piece with an excellent idea behind it. Your potshots at MMORPG mechanics were very nicely done, but like I said, a more in-depth coverage of the problem would probably result in a funnier and better UnNews piece. Cheers.
