There are some elements of fun here, but overall, it reads as a fan's deconstruction of a former phenomenon. To work it should chart the pair's rise to fame and their now (relative) obscurity, and perhaps hint that a new rise is imminent. I might be missing some in-jokes here, but there was nothing that made me titter, let alone laugh - it just seems random thoughout. You need a good angle and should stick to it. B&B as saviours of America would work, as would them as typical high-school drop-outs who happened to influence a bigger picture (cf Forrest Gump or Zellig), but you haven't nailed this yet.
