Imperial Colonization is a usergroup that periodically chooses a new article to improve. It's a mass-cooperation similar in function to Wikipedia's "Collaborations" section. We focus on articles that require immediate attention, as judged by, well, us. See, our philosophy is that if we spent some time improving the articles that casual readers are most likely to come in contact with, or look up (such as Batman, Bruce Wayne, Creationism, Jew, God or Al Gore), more readers would stick around, make accounts, and become writers themselves. This is really about revitalizing the wiki, something we feel is a very noble cause.

In simple words: We steal, we kill, we destroy, we recreate!

After you're approved and on the big board, add this template to your userpage. It's pretty, I know.

Once you're signed up, you have an indeterminate amount of time (probably about one to three weeks) to contribute to the current colonization; get a feel for how the process works. Then the real fun begins!

Note: Since Feb 01, 2010 all Monks who do not participate in the colonization that begins immediately after they apply will be removed from the list. (Don't worry, we'll let you know when it starts.)

Note: Those who have not participated in the last three colonizations will be retired, with regret. Anyone who votes for an article that's chosen for colonization and does not edit it (or, possibly, participate in its discussion) will be retired. However, should any retirees want to become active members, they may certainly reapply.

Please see this before you nominate. Add as many nominations to the list as you like, within reason. Vote for any and all nominations you plan to participate in.

At the end of a colonization the top three to five nominations will be kept in the que and have their voting history reset. The other inactive/unpopular nominations will be removed, but may certainly be renominated. Past nominations/winners can be found in the archive.

Note from the Head Priest: I plan to help with whatever article is chosen.

Protocol for nominating an article for Colonization

1. Add {{VoteCOTW}} to the top of the article
2. Add the article to the bottom of The current queue using a level three header.
3. Write Nom, or Nom and For, or something recognizably similar; give a short reason for your nomination; then sign.

Optional: Give an additional concept suggestion for how the article could be colonized.

Example: if your user name is "Buccaneer Batman" and you wanted to nominate the article Flying Bloodsucking Pirate for Imperial Colonization, you could write

Successful Conquests
