UnReuters Newswire - The United States Supreme Court ruled this morning in favor of patent litigation firm MercExchange in a long standing scuffle with California based eBay corporation. The ruling includes an injunction preventing eBay from continuing to use Buy-It-Now technology, which powers instant purchase options in its namesake auctions. An eBay representative detailed that they would immediately implement a workaround, while appealing to the Even Supremer Court. A MercExchange spokesman was not available for comment.
Details of the eBay workaround have been released, with their new landmark technology "Purchase it pretty darn-tootin soon." The eBay representative reiterated that "most users wouldn't be able to tell the difference." Users would reserve a purchase slot at the current price, and shippers would then deliver the item "almost, but not quite immediately." eBay stock fell 0.25 at the news.
