edit Palin Family

Can someone explanisize, please? Is this a reality show, or a soap opera? Now, that Bristol and Levy Johnson are engaged, disengaged (what is the last status)? Is it true that the OTHER girl, who has a baby from John Levies, she is a tween sister of Bristol Palin, separated at birth?

edit wow

wow. This article needs work. Palin's article needs to be a little meaner. She is a pshyco, after all. -The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk • contribs)

We do the same for Hillary Clinton which means no bitch, lesbian, etc references. This is Uncyclopedia not IWETHEY or The Daily Kos where they allow personal attacks of that nature. Please read HTBFANJS for our rules here. If you want Palin to be seen as mean use Sith Lord references and put her in a Darth Vader costume. We already have her as a Mini-Me and McCain as a Dr. Evil. We want funny and not stupid references, ok? --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 01:12, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

edit Rewrite Ideas

First off Uncyclopedia HTBFANJS prohibit any "bitch", "cunt", or "lesbian" references so name calling and personal attacks on Palin are not allowed and any such attacks will be reverted. Second we might have to write a pro-liberal and pro-neocon version of the article or just do the Neocon version with a criticism section for the liberal view. I think we should try to do an article like the Hillary Clinton version and put Palin in a Darth Vader suit like we did Hillary but avoid any Nazi references, but using the word fascist or capitalist might work better instead. In fact we should say something like she is a puppet of the Neocons or a puppet of big oil and mega corporations instead of the smear attacks that the typical blogs use. We should write her view of issues and show that she is Pro-Life, Pro-Christianity, and then show a liberal reaction to those issues she holds for the Pro-Choice and Secular viewpoints. I think we may have to block IPs from editing the page, because Anonymous and people in that group seem to like hacking Palin's email and defacing any Wiki article about her. So before I or anyone else tries to rewrite this page, we need someone with Admin access to protect the page so only registered users can edit it. That should weed out 90% of the crap edits and keep it funny and not just stupid. But then again it will ultimately end up as the pro-liberal smear article it is now that is stupid and not funny, and too many cooks spoiling the soup by adding pointless and hateful entries on her. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 21:34, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Really? "HTBFANJS prohibit any "bitch", "cunt", or "lesbian" references so name calling and personal attacks on Palin are not allowed"? It does? Not sure blocking IPs is required on this page either. My understanding is that if it's funny enough anything goes. Obviously un-funny attacks and rants are well... Un-funny. Sounds like you have some ideas for the article Orion, I look forward to seeing what you do with it. Have fun. :) MrN Icons-flag-gb HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png Fork you! 21:40, Sep 19
It prohibits them because they aren't funny. Think about it for a second. --MegaPleb Dexter111344 Complain here 21:46, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Uh yeah it does because those are all examples of bias, and bias is not funny according to the rules. I know this for a fact, as I got called on that rule when I wrote some funny Rosie O'Donnell quotes in two different UnNews articles. Hot stove rules say the same rules we apply for liberals apply to Neocons as well, equal rights and all of that. If not, we are no better than Conservapedia or Wikipedia or that LULZ Wiki I cannot name. I am just throwing around ideas and see if anyone objects or has better ideas. If I rewrite it now, it might upset some people. But PrettiestPretty talked about a rewrite to save it from VFD and someone took the rewrite tag off. I hate it when that happens. We really need to talk about if an article will get rewritten or not, and cannot just willy nilly remove rewrite tags without improving the article first in some way so it is funnier. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 21:47, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
I agree that "Bias Is Not a Replacement for Humor", but sometimes bias can be funny if done in the right way. What I am saying is that the "rules" are really just guidelines as to what is likely to be considered funny. I commented here specifically as did not think that it was right that you used the word "prohibit"... That word is really not a good choice as it suggests that we are more rigorous in our enforcement things than we are. We actually prohibit very little really. Oh, sorry for all the "quotes". I may have been reading "too many articles" recently... Have fun. MrN Icons-flag-gb HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png Fork you! 00:08, Sep 20
It was a word used on me when I wrote an UnNews article that mentioned Rosie O'Donnell was a lesbian, I was told such a reference is prohibited. Someone edited it out and cited the bias clause and said such a word to describe someone is prohibited. Rosie is actually gay, but being factual and saying she is a lesbian who supports Islamic terrorists who want to kill homosexual people because she thinks their rights are violated by the US government as irony was removed and I was told such a word is prohibited because it is biased even if it is factual and was not meant as a smear against Rosie. Are you telling me now that it was actually funny and should have been kept as part of the article because it was not actually prohibited? at this point I am completely and utterly confused as to what we consider to be funny and unfunny here. Unless bias is only funny when directed at someone who is not a liberal, and equal rights do not apply here, which makes our rules very hypocritical. I don't really see how that joke is any worse than the real Rosie O'Donnell article that has her as the Staypuff Marshmallow man saying a homosexual slur against gay men with partial censorship as far as bias goes. So please tell me, what is the real rule on bias? --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 00:56, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
Yikes at the time it was like that, now someone stole my Islamic terrorist joke and Photoshopped her face on a terrorist suspect's body. I am still confused now. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 00:58, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
It's a tricky one I agree. My interpretation of the rules lets call them guidelines, is that when it's an obvious rant which has no funny side, especially if it's pushing a particular point of view, it's unlikely to be considered funny by many people. Take the case of one of my articles Battle of the Sexes for example... It is probably considered by some people to be sexist and pushing a male centric point of view. I hope though that it's funny enough to offset the criticism that it could have, and that a reader would be aware that the sexist remarks are tongue in cheek, and so would not take it too seriously. I don't think it's possible to define exactly in a set of rules what is and is not allowed as these things are obviously very subjective. I guess we just have to avoid the obvious bias and name calling, and most off all... If it's funny to enough people it's probably OK so long as it does not upset so many other people that it becomes a problem for us to keep the page. I have no idea about the specifics of the edits you are talking about above, so I can't say anything about them. Also, as you probably know I'm not an admin... MrN Icons-flag-gb HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png Fork you! 01:12, Sep 20
Look if we are going to use bias to make fun of Palin, let's do it in a way that is funny that we all can agree on. I am not sure how to do that, as everything I wrote since the Rosie incident has been non-biased and funny and not stupid. Let's make it so unbelievable and ridiculous that it is funny. Like a 9/11 truther New World Order conspiracy theorist living in his mother's basement using Windows 95 and AOL dial-up wrote the article and did little to no fact-checking and everyone above the IQ of 50 will know it is 100% fake and meant to be funny. Much like we wrote the 9/11 WTC controlled explosion article. Agreed? If not and you have a better idea, I'd like to hear it. Even if you are not an admin and I don't know you that well, I value your opinions even if I don't 100% agree with all of them. I am all about writing funny articles and I don't let biases or politics get in the way of something that is funny, as I write pro-liberal and pro-conservative and pro-libertarian, etc articles on a whim based on my mood and mental illness cycles. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 01:16, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
Hea, I'm not saying it should have bias... I'm just saying it could (if it were done in the right way) Also your "I don't let biases or politics get in the way of something that is funny, as I write pro-liberal and pro-conservative and pro-libertarian, etc articles on a whim based on my mood and mental illness cycles." line just made me laugh out loud... As a guy who has not always kept all his marbles in the same place myself I'm saying that in the nicest possible way. As a Brit, I don't really know much about Palin, so I'm probably not really the best person to help with this article. I will keep an eye on it though... I think you can do something really good with it. Maybe you could swap your medication a few times during writing it to give pro-liberal and pro-conservative viewpoints with the author arguing with themselves? That might work? Actually, probably best not to mess with the meds. I'm joking obviously. See, I'm not funny. Have fun dude. MrN Icons-flag-gb HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png Fork you! 01:31, Sep 20
Well the thing about being a schizoaffective disorder mental patient is that it cycles me through a normal, depressed, schizophrenic, manic, and moody cycles, so my viewpoint changes even while on medication, which makes me a very funny Internet comedian and more like Andy Kaufman than anyone else. It is almost dadaism and random humor. But let us take a real life example from a Hollywood phony like Matt Damon that got some facts wrong about Palin. This Youtube clip shows how much people don't know about Palin and in fact Palin is a virtual unknown in the USA and most of us don't know much about her either as she is basically a female version of Dan Quayle and has done almost nothing, has no experience, and was governor of Alaska for less than two years, and now is the Republican VP pick. So most of us bleeding yanks are going "WTF" as we figured McCain would pick Huckabee, Romney, or at the very least Ron Paul instead of a virtual unknown that nobody ever heard of before and obviously was picked because she is a good looking woman to win Hillary Clinton supporters over to McCain. But the Dinosaurs lived 4000 years ago as creatures of Satan and proof that Creationism is true, and Palin has her hands on the nuclear football if McCain has a heart attack, and it makes Matt Damon worry about that, even if it was some blogger who posted a disclaimer that nothing he was writing on his blog was true and shouldn't be mistaken for the truth. We can say Palin is the head priestess of the Church of Dinosaurs for Jesus or something. How does that sound? If not we can have Satanic Dinosaurs for the Truth speak out against Palin or maybe the Atheistic Dinosaurs for the truth of evolution lead by Richard Dawkins to speak against her Christian Dinosaur Church as being harmful and untruthful? --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 01:49, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
I could not say dude. Sorry, I'm not expert in this person. What I would say is try to make the article about something which will work long term rather than just making it about a current event. UN-News is more suited for current events. I'm not sure if this Dinosaur thing will be considered that important in a few years time, and if that's the basis of the article... I don't know... MrN Icons-flag-gb HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png Fork you! 02:10, Sep 20
Well that church speech shows she is boring as a talker, which makes her another Dan Quayle. I am not sure what else we can use? But I do know of a fact checking web site that shows the lies and distortions about her, that we can possible make into jokes. I wish I knew more about her, but that Dinosaur thing was the funniest one I can think of, and it is late at night where I am now. I'll try to think up more ideas tomorrow and throw them around this talk page. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 02:22, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
Sarah Palin makes me think "former NRA model," like Playboy with guns, or something. I dunno. - P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon Baloon(Tick Tock) (Contribs) 02:47, Sep 20
I removed the rewrite template, because I don't think it needs a big ugly template at the top of the page, as the article isn't bad enough that it needs completely rewritten. It's not actually on VFD, and I don't think it would be deleted if it was. It maybe do with adding some bits or changing some bits, but seeing as it's on a wiki, you don't need a template to tell people that.
Also, that email hacking incident sections seems to be pretty much factual... it could do with being less factual, or link to the unnews on it.
And as for HTBFANJS, those are just guidelines for writing humour - the only rules are these. And even then, when you think about it, the line "bias is not a replacement for humour" doesn't mean the bias can't be funny. Spang talk 10:35, 20 Sep 2008
Thank you Sprang for laying down the true law, and taking a leadership roll and straightening us out on this article. I tried to make a joke about Loki being in charge of Republicans after Republican Jesus took a coffee break 2000 years ago and left Loki in charge of conservatives. I think it is a funny joke, and can be worked into the article. I added it to the witch hunt section, but I think it has potential. I said I'm come up with better material, and I think since McCain says he is for Change that it is really Loki's change we are talking about and not Obama's change. Does that sound good? --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 23:46, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
Well I tried adding in liberal bias but it was quickly removed. Any ideas on how I can add it so it won't be quickly removed? --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 12:20, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to see Palin attempt to learn the Tao of the Wu-Tang Clan. Start busting rhymes and phat beats.

edit Sarah Palin the USA answer to Maggie Thatcher

First she spoke out in a dinosaur church as a boring female Dan Quayle. But after being made fun of and after her email was hacked, she decided to model herself after the UK leader Maggie Thatcher. I got that from a political review of her speeches that have become to sound more like Maggie in nature. Watching the cable news channels in the USA helped me learn more about her. So you UKians can now recycle your Maggie Thatcher jokes to Sarah Palin jokes. I think this would be a good rewrite of this article, and keep the bits that are funny the way they are and take out the unfunny parts and replace them with Maggie Thatcher jokes and we should be on the right track. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 01:23, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

edit Women with guns

It would be a good idea to get pictures from movies and TV shows of women with guns and Photoshop Sarah Palin's face over them as Kingfish had done for the Neo-Swashbuckler's group. Maybe get some images of Trinity from The Matrix, Sigourney Weaver from Aliens, Kate Beckinsale from Underworld Evolution, and many others. --Lt. Well when I threw my version out there after the previous version was huffed, it wasn't too bad, but too many people have their fingers in this and as a result it almost qualifies as a VFD candidate. So unless someone puts a block on it after its rewritten, this article is gouing to be gobshit, just like Sarah Palin! Yeah I am trying to do material that is not hateful and not personal attacks so the Caribou Barbie was a funny one. Problem is this Sarah Palin article is ending up like the Hillary Clinton one did, too many anonymous IPs calling her bad names with stupid jokes. Maybe we can save the funny pictures and rewrite the article like the George W. Bush one so it cites Fox News and Conservative blogs to go over the top in deadpan humor? --Lt. And your work is admirable - you've kept from looking like the Ann Coulter article. Keeping control of this Sarah Palin article is a bit like herding cats. I think that this is an article that could be a filled with invective (which is why I am not working on it because I hate this bitch), so keeping it funny, not stupid is going to be a daunting task. Well I try to do the best I can. I don't want to be hateful, but I want to be funny. Trying to show bias as funny is really hard, and yes I don't want it to end up like the Coulter article. I am willing to work with other editors and make it funnier and my section that got deleted, I'd like to rewrite so it is funnier and flows with the rest of the article. I tried to put in some liberal smears on Palin, as defended by a 15 year old Republican much like the 9/11 WTC controlled explosion showed the view of a 15 year old Democrat. I wanted it to be funny like that, but it didn't seem to work out. Sorry it didn't seem to work out, I am open to suggestions to be funnier. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 16:00, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
My suggestions are (rolling up my sleeves) First you have to accept that Palin is a burlesque; her life is theater. 1) Get control of the article by getting the page protected from random edits by non-registered users; 2)Get rid of half the pictures - the ones that are on there now are just cluttering the thing up - keep the bikini picture, but get rid of the mini-me image because it sucks and its everywhere and the fact of the matter is that Palin is the bigger star than McCain; 3) For the sake of satire, I would rewrite the article as a series of tall tales, peppered with cliches. 3)Reduce the emphasis on the daughters unplanned preganacy and add in a quote along the lines of "And I said thanks but no thanks to having an aborted grandchild." Quotes from Palin should be mixed metaphores. It would also be great to use a pull quote from Carly Fiorina, the failed CEO of Hewlett Packard who is now a McCain advisor to the effect of "Based on my career of almost driving computer giant Hewlett Packard into the ground before I was fired, I can tell you that Sarah Palin is ready to lead the U.S." The sad thing is that no matter how good we make this article, its just going to get crapped up by drive by editors as the election draws nearer. Ok I like your ideas, but I think like George W. Bush we need an article for the anonymous IPs to scribble on and create a Sarah Palin Liberal Edition that this article gets moved to, and then protect this article for your rewrite ideas. We might also write a Sarah Palin (Cylon) like the Paris Hilton (Cylon) article, or just joke and make a Sarah Rambo Palin article and reuse Rambo jokes in it for her gun use and support as a NRA super model or Barbie action figure doll or something. I am calling this the Gobshite Earthworm theory, we take Gobshite like Bush or Palin and split their article up into two or more and write different versions of them to please different groups of people. Earthworms reproduce by being split apart and each part becomes a new Earthworm, and this should only be applied to Gobshite materials like Bush or Palin that are highly controversial and cause a lot of edit wars. Does this sound like a good theory that can become an unofficial ignorable Uncyclopedia policy? ;)--Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 19:35, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah action figures of Sarah already exist, I hope they donate some of the money to charity or something. But yeah we need someone to protect this article from anonymous IPs and then write some blurb that says edit the Sarah Palin Liberal Edition article instead, but leave this one to the professionals. Good job, eventually we'll need a Sarah Palin template for listing all articles related to her. Good job reverting the gobshite they keep adding to this article. When the kids try to be like hackers, they call them script-kiddies because they run scripts written by someone else, so I'll call these kids as Wiki-Kiddies who want to write like us Uncyclopedians. We need to take all of the crap, cruft, gobshite, etc from the article and put it in a separate article that the Wiki-Kiddies can go and scribble all over and leave this one alone. --Lt. To have teens saying it isnt really satire, because its too close (practically identical) to the truth. perhaps a few more sentences about pundits debating her bangability would flesh out the joke a bit more. perhaps something about bill o'reilly and a middle eastern chick pea dish. Jayseki 21:24, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Sounds sensible to me. As a Brit I don't really know her that well anyway. I really just tarted the page up a bit (a while back), and that line tickled me a bit. I guess to Americans it's not really that funny for the reasons you said... Looks like you are doing a great job with it now. Keep up the good work! This article is probably not too far from a VFH nom... MrN Icons-flag-gb HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png Fork you! 21:26, Oct 18
Once we clean up some of the junk people have left in here, yes, it probably will be. --Mr. Monkey Sockmonkey Pant-hoot here. 21:33, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

tyvm, i'll try to rework the teen thing into the article elsewhere. and i'll make the pundits work at FOX news, they are the ones that scream "sexist!" at every criticism of her. Jayseki 21:37, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

mrmonkey, it seems like (to paraphrase mccain) you are using a hatchet here instead of a scalpel. some of the stuff you cut was funny! but i do agree with you about the rule of three edits Jayseki 21:41, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

i agree with mr.n, take it easy, and what was wrong with the disney movie section? if you think it needed editing, then try to make it shorter and punchier, but dont axe the whole thing, there were some funny things in there. Jayseki 21:45, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

That'd be paraphrasing Obama, actually ;) But you're right, don't just cut out whole sections unless they're completely terrible. Try and refine it or fit it in somewhere else if it's got good stuff in there. Spang talk 23:09, 19 Oct 2008

true, what mccain said was that he would use a hatchet, THEN a scalpel. sounds like good surgical technique to me :) Jayseki 23:52, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

edit All hands to the pumps!

OK, this has been put onto VFH. It's probably not quite ready yet, so we need to act fast... I have removed some of the pics, there were way too many... The main criticism from VFH appears to be that this reads like it has been written by lots of different people. That's probably because it was! Anyway... If someone thinks they can get it to read in a more consistent style, that's probably what is needed most now... MrN Icons-flag-gb HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png Fork you! 23:31, Oct 19

Yea, this pic!

Also... Should this pic (on the left) be in this article? We did not create it. It's copied from elsewhere, and we are not really using it in a new creative way... MrN Icons-flag-gb HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png Fork you! 23:36, Oct 19

i personnaly find the flow chart to be hilarious, but maybe it could end up on another page (like public speaking, or master debaters etc.) Jayseki 23:52, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

edit Tina Fey

I was Crackin' Up on SNL! Damn, and the funny thing about it is that Tina Fey doesn't have to change Palin's lines. (Wow, Mclame musta F*cked up when he chose her. XD)--BlackSugaBabyGurl 02:42, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

yea, that was hilarious, esp. alec baldwin's part Jayseki 03:05, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

edit too long

i went in and tried to trim the fat, but ledballon seems to think it needs all this unfunny stuff about palin that amounts to a rant. i personally hate her and am going to vote for obama, but im trying to make this thing funny, which means taking out lines like "Rules apply to everyone else, but never to the very-best-woman-to-ever-be-nominated Vice President of this grand white country of ours!"

or .."raised property taxes 33% while cutting taxes on business"

or ..Palin has said "While Bristol is sobbing almost twenty-four hours a day over how she has ruined her life, I'm looking forward to seeing her suffer. I am also thanking God because now I get to be the mother of the bride!"

these lines just arent funny, they add nothing, and they obviously come from a political viewpoint and just drag the article down, we need to PRUNE here, not hold on to unfunny lines just because you want people to know negative details about her Jayseki 03:20, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Not only aren't those lines funny, but they look like they were copy pasted from Wikipedia!!!! Hey what now? Since when did we become an Ultra-Left Wing Fascist Encyclopedia Galatica Wiki like Wikipedia? Was there a hostile takeover by Jimbo Wales? I don't think so. How about we spawn them off to a Sarah Palin Liberal Edition article? That should please the Ultra Left Wing Hate Mongering Smiley Faced Nazi sockpuppets from Wikipedia, shouldn't it? ;) --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 02:07, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
that line about the rules not applying to Palin. Its funny, DAMN funny. I know satire bub. My track record on Uncyclopedia (award, accolades, people throwing themselves down upon my feet with blood everywhere) sorta proves that I have a keen eye. And while we're at at it, I also wrote that line about Bristol, too. You want an edit war, bring it on. Hugs, Dame PPsigPPlips.gifGUN PotY WotM 2xPotM 17xVFH VFP Poo PMS •YAP• 12:34, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Ok I'll take your word for it, even if I don't get the joke and see it as hateful and biased. I am sorry if I wrote anything to upset you. I was just trying to be funny. Not everyone gets my jokes as well. Hugs right back at you. You do have a history of being funny and right, so I respect that. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 17:50, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
i agree that the line about rules not applying to SP is funny, thats why i left one of them in; i just thought the second one was redundant, other than portraying her supporters as rascist (which may indeed be true based on the type of things shouted at her rallies, but that doesnt make this line subtle or funny.) if there was a more subtle way to make the point that her fans are rascist, i would love to have it in here, its just that having them state point blank the line about the great white country isnt at all subtle Jayseki 04:38, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
whats so funny about those lines? they are not in any way subtle, and they are also pretty redundant. as for having a "track record" that "sorta proves" you know comedy...ok sure, it proves that, because everyone here knows comedy inside and out. as for an edit war, no thank you...i only make edits that i think the majority of people here on the discussion page will be cool with. if you really like those lines, why dont we just ask the other folks here if they like them. after all, as unc users, they know comedy.Jayseki 22:49, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
No I don't want an edit war. Which is why I am talking about it. I am not a people person like you are, as I am mentally ill and most often a loner. I just don't find what you wrote as funny and I tried to rewrite funnier lines. I think your hatred and bias of Palin has affected your writing in this article, but I could be wrong. I just don't think that bias is a substitute for humor and neither is hatred. Maybe Wikipedia allows that, and maybe you can find a way to make it funnier so that I can "get it" without shaking my head at it and shrugging my shoulders that it is just another liberal smear trying to be passed off as a joke. :) --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 03:05, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
i agree with onion here. pretti, even if you do "know satire", you could still be wrong about this one article due to your bias (which i totally share btw). even colbert writes the occaisional unfunny joke Jayseki 03:27, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I agree that Prettiestpretty writes funny stuff, and I like her style of writing usually, but the above quotes just don't seem to be of the same quality of humor. I could be wrong though, I admit that. But I think in this case I might be right. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 13:45, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
also, up there you mentioned that you werent working on this article cause you "hate this bitch"- i do too, but that doesnt mean its particularly funny to just quote her as saying something horrible-

(While Bristol is sobbing almost twenty-four hours a day over how she has ruined her life, I'm looking forward to seeing her suffer. I am also thanking God because now I get to be the mother of the bride)

even if the above line is true in spirit (or true in fact), that doesnt make it funny. in addition, this article needed to be trimmed down, and is there really a need for SO MANY lines about the stepford housewife club? i like the section, but just thought it needed to be steamlined, again, if you are so confident in your "track record", lets let the others here decide on those lines-you cant have it both ways;either unc users know funny, or they dont.Jayseki 22:49, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
or maybe it would just be simplest if you explained why those parts are so good, i would be interested in hearing why they are, it should be easy enough for you to explain, as you do know satire (bub).

-p.s. did you ever notice how unpersuasive the arguement from authority is?Jayseki 22:56, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

That is why I suggested splitting up this article into three different ones. The Sarah Palin Liberal edition can have the biased and hateful rants, and we can create a third article as well that the Anonymous IPs can scribble over. I think it is a good idea, but it has been ignored so far as far as I know. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 14:29, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Ok, how about in the interest of deadpan we reverse the unfunny stupid jokes into funny witty jokes? "Sarah Palin is so special that she doesn't even worry about breaking the rules, because she was modeled after Mary Poppins and is perfect in every way." Then we can Photoshop her face on a picture of Mary Poppins from Disney. "Sarah Palin, inspired by Ronald Reagan supports Trickle Down Economics so that cutting taxes on businesses will allow those businesses to hire more people and thus justify supply-side economics and trickle down the wealth even to the Ghettos of Harlem. While it is true that she raised property taxes, she did make up for it by making those property taxes tax deductible via the IRS so people will get their money back and have good paying jobs to boot." and "Sarah Palin is beaming happiness over being the mother of the bride, her daughter Bristol is about to get married. Sarah claims that Bristol was raised by tough love, but it made her into a morally and ethically aware young woman and will have finally learned the important lessons that her mother taught to her via tough love. 'I can't wait to see the happy couple finally say 'I do' to each other and join in on a partnership and make it a team with teamwork and love. Happily ever after just like Mary Poppins taught me how to be a mother, now Bristol will one day have a wonderful life as well." --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 02:17, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

"Brevity is...wit" (shakespeare). the whole point is to remove the political rants, not insert all new ones. Jayseki 04:34, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

edit Don't write via hate or bias, use love instead

I know many hate this woman, but don't give in to your hate. Hate can only bring you down as you try to bring her down. If you think negative thoughts, negative things will happen to you and change your mood to a bad one. You are all good people, let's have fun with this article and think positive thoughts instead and then write funny things as a result. This video demonstrates what I am talking about. Instead think positive thoughts that Obama will win the election and McCain will agree to work with him in the Senate. Too many negative thoughts can make one sick. I learned that the hard way because as soon as I got schizoaffective disorder the negative thoughts overwhelmed me and I lost job after job and got really physically ill. I learned to counter negative thoughts with positive ones and I have made changes in my life. I became a better person as a result. When I first joined here I was very negative and I slowly started to be more positive and thus my articles started to get funnier and I was more likable. Just a thought, you don't have to take my advice if you don't want to, but it has worked for me. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 01:29, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

i hope you arent referring to me, even though i said i hated her, in all my edits i have tried to maintain a playful and unbiased tone, just making jokes about those things that the media has been focusing on, and not trying to seriously push any agenda or dig up negative details. Jayseki 04:28, 23 October 2008 (UTC) also, when i say "hate" i mean it rhetorically- i may hate her policies, but her as i person i merely dislike Jayseki 04:32, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

It was directed at everyone. Hate is a strong emotion, dislike is a better one. You may not like her, but it shouldn't affect your writing so that it is biased and unfunny. Maybe I just don't get the jokes? Maintaining a playful and unbiased tone is good, keep it up. Bias is not a substitute for humor, according to HTBFANJS and I didn't make that up. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 14:26, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

yes, i think maybe you arent getting some of the jokes, if you see "hateful" Jayseki 02:44, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

example please; i dont think i have written anything biased here, as i said, i have limited myself to satirizing only things that are being discussed about her in the newsmedia. are you sure you are clear as to which parts of this article were written by which user?Jayseki 20:01, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
I don't really know who wrote what and I don't care who wrote what, that was addressed to all who write hateful and biased statements towards Palin. I don't have the time nor energy to sift through the history log and single out certain users or anonymous IPs to show examples of who did what, etc. I am trying to follow HTBFANJS but not everyone else apparently are following it, so we end up with an extra long article and edit wars and a lot of hurt feelings and it is tearing us all apart. I myself cannot stand the stress from all of the hate and bias I am reading in this article and I don't find it that funny. I am trying to just let it slide, maybe I don't get the jokes, nobody cares what I think or say apparently and as a result this is going to be nothing but total gobshite because nobody wants to listen to me. :( --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 23:42, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
i think i understand all that (although in places it seems a bit dramatic-tearing us all apart, lol), which is why i asked you for an example, please, of the "biased and unfunny" lines. give some lines you feel are biased, and see the response you get. everyone may agree with you. everyone may explain the joke to you. you wont know til you provide examples.Jayseki 01:49, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Forget it I just created Sarah Palin Liberal Edition that the hateful and biased examples will get moved to, just to prove my point. Everytime I see such an example, it will get moved to that article. Maybe it will make it all the way to VFH? :) --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 02:00, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
good! i look forward to seeing what you think is so biased and "hateful"Jayseki 02:14, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
yes, about 50% of what you moved was either unfunny or unfair, but you obv had to move a bunch more that wasnt biased, just to make it long enough. example: " The movie "The Cutting Edge"(1992) is based loosely on Palin's courtship with her husband." --how is that biased or hateful? its just a hockey joke, sheesh. or how is this hateful and biased?- "If a citizen walks down the street and does not recognize her, she will order him to be fired from his job. If a citizen is displaying their religion outwardly, and it is not Christian, that citizen will be "Disappeared"-- that is SO CLEARLY a joke; if that's biased, its AGAINST liberals and their conspiracy theories, not FOR them!
also, you killed the whole joke here: "As Governor, she enthusiastically accepted the infamous "Bridge to Nowhere" earmark, raised taxes, and caused the enormous budget deficit, by doing the same thing. This terrible record caused John McCain to select her as his running mate, fearing what he learned about her from ancient legends was true." ---(its easy to say something isnt funny when you go in and surgically remove the punchline!)

Jayseki 02:28, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

i changed the -whoops- template to point to the new page. go easy on the "hateful and biased", its a bit hyperbolic. as far as i can see, most people here are just trying to have fun, and are not at all full of hate.Jayseki 02:40, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Ok I get it now. Thanks. I was confused but now that you explained it more, it makes better sense to me. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 01:10, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

edit Satire

Have you ever seen a sitcom that didnt have conflict or misunderstanding? have you ever seen a romantic comedy movie where they met, fell in love, and got married, no problem? of course not! it's practically impossible to satirize somone based on their good qualities! we cant satirize this person without dwelling on the controversies and peccadillos, its just not possible. however, we can satirize the popular coverage of her in an unbiased way. consider: "After escaping the liberal filter of five universities, Palin ultimately got her journalism degree directly from the American public in 1988" would you consider that biased? it is just a spoof of palins own statements about the "liberal media filter", coupled with the fact that she attended five universities. if the article was about obama, it would mention the fact that he has had only 2 years in the senate, plus some other satire of a common chestnut (example: "However, it is widely believed that this was just a fake cover up for his real occupation - being a Muslim terrorist." <--from the actual obama article!). none of this is bias--the things that are OUT THERE are fair game for lampoon, just like how later in the obama article, there is a section on bill ayers, and its funny too. dont mistake relevance for bias.
