edit Who is Pedobear?

We can really use an article on Pedobear that won't be like every other one that's been made here in the past four years--one that won't get huffed. I want to stay away from the obvious, so no Pedobear as a sexual predator (although he could have been accused of that). I want to portray him a world-known icon of traditional, wholesome values.

But I haven't figured out the specifics. I'd like to mix the portrayal of Pedobear with those of a real icon, so there are some suggestions below on characters we can base his portrayal on. (No, this won't be an article that's really about some other character with the name "Pedobear" substituted. But I think it will give a handle for a beginning.) Feel free to add your own suggestions of a character or whatever.

Add your comment just like you would for a regular vote, only don't bother using a vote count. Thanks! Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 03:57, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

edit Here's the situation

Problem: Pedobear is a chan meme. Articles about memes tend to be at best good-faith attempts that end up getting filled with cruft that's meaningless to anyone not "in" on the meme, and at worst, blatant ED ripoffs.

Solution: You have to bring something really original to the table.

The only featured article about a meme that I know of is Epic fail. Let the average internet user write about "epic fail" and they'll probably make a list of failures and a gallery of fail pics, and it will end up being a jumbled mess. Epic fail is good because you can really feel the schadenfreude as the narrator laughs at his family and friends.

My suggestion is to write about a real bear (also quite a good article), one who lives in a park or something, who is a pedophile and steals babies like Yogi Bear steals baskets. Or maybe not. Maybe people think he's a pedophile, but he's really just misunderstood. Because he's a bear. The possibilities! --Pleb SYNDROME CUN medicate (butt poop!!!!) 21:25, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your suggestions! You've got my mind working. :) Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 02:53, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

edit British politician

....my suggestion would be to do it as though he was a British politician. That would give you lot's of scope to talk about his campaign election, his polices, and the stuff he gets up to on a day to day basis. It would need to be written in a VERY strong encyclopaedic (maybe deadpan) style for it to work. That's my suggestion... ;) MrN Icons-flag-gb HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png Fork you! 05:36, Aug 29

I'll be getting Pedobear into politics soon. But I don't know much about British politics, so could use help. Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 06:58, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

edit Popular Pedobear

Sorry, can't figure out how to use your box, so I'll put it here.

Pedobear needs an article--did a search and got over 700,000 hits, including some sites that focus on the character. Only tricky part will be coming up with something that hasn't already been done.

Santa: Maybe Santa's his Daddy. Or Santa brought him to the world as a Christmas present.

Smokey Bear/Smokey The Bear: I did a little search on our friend Pedobear. He gets more hits than Smokey the Bear! And that could be a problem. I don't know how many people outside of America know who Smokey is. So if you use Smokey, keep that in mind.

Mickey Mouse: Everybody knows Mickey. Maybe a Pedobear-Disney connection? Like Disney ripped off the original and completely Disneyfied it like they did with Peter Pan and Wendy, Alice's Adventure in Wonderland, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pinnochio, etc.

Teddy Bear: Maybe something about him being rescued by President Theodore Roosevelt.

God: Pedobear as the son of God?

Maybe you could combine these. I know that could be a mess, but maybe it could work. And I like the idea of him being completely innocent. That could help you keep away from the already done to death, and make something fresh. Although if you use that movie trailer (which is great), that might be difficult unless you specify it's not true.

I'm volunteering to help. Binky The WonderSkull 18:23, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Cool suggestions and thanks for offering to help! Maybe an article that uses everyone's suggestion? Sounds crazy, but maybe. Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 03:50, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
I would say having Pedobear do everything wouldn't work, but it was good enough for Forrest Gump. Binky The WonderSkull 04:05, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

edit Concept

I was almost ready to give up on this, but I think I finally got a concept. Pedobear as a Renaissance Bear. I don't mean living then I mean he can do anything including suggestions above. I'll be gone this weekend, but will be posting here after that! Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 02:28, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

I'll look forward to. Again, I'd like to help if you want it. And congrats on getting featured! Binky The WonderSkull 15:34, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! You can see what I have so far on the article. Feel free to edit it! Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 03:17, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

I took off the construction tag, but I'm still working on it! Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 03:11, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

Miley, I made a number of small edits. I hope you don't mind. If you don't think they work, feel free to revert! WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 05:52, September 18, 2009 (UTC)
Oh and nice making this connect to Sun Bee. I'll make some small revisions in that one to better fit this. WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 06:23, September 18, 2009 (UTC)
Miley, I finally remembered you wanted ideas and comments for the article here and not on your user page. Sorry, sometimes I'm a little slow. Syndrome, in regard to my Sun Bee article, pointed out something you might want to use here. I realize this article is already gotten pretty long, so hate to give you ideas to expand it, but this might be really short.Wikipedia:Pedomorphism, with a subset Wikipedia:Neoteny, might work here. Maybe you could explain it's why Pedobear stays young. WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 20:14, September 18, 2009 (UTC)
sorry for necropost but... I'd like to see this idea implemented but I'm not sure how. Would this require a major rewrite? Or could we expand upon the "Race" section, which already discusses the biology of Pedobears? --Pentium5dot1 t~^_^~c 07:33, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

edit My son says Pedobear plays sports! Such a clever boy

Mommy, if you want an idea of how Pedobear gets a high school diploma and college degree when he presumably can't read or write, what if he's really good at playing sports? I really know someone who could bearly barely read who got As in college because he was a star athlete and took a lot of classes from coaches. I imagine a bear would be great at blocking and tackling. Maybe he ends up playing professionally for the Chicago Bears. And maybe also plays for the Chicago Cubs. (I don't know if you could get the Chicago Bulls and Bears related to a Bear or Bull stock market). Also if Pedobear's used for Disney, maybe you could somehow substitute him for Mickey Mouse. If you're interested, let me know and I might be able to make some images. WHY??? 17:01, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

On the Pedobear article, I have a couple ideas. Do you want me to post them on the talk page, or add them to the article and then let you delete them if you don't like them? One thing I noticed is that you have a bear wearing clothes that partially burn off to leave a teddy, but no explanation of why the bear is wearing clothes. I know it's a work in progress, but it's just something I noticed. WHY??? 02:07, September 14, 2009 (UTC)

edit Pedobear Pics

Here's some pics I'd like for this article.

  • President Teddy Roosevelt with a bear.
  • A bear wearing a teddy, could be a teddy bear wearing a teddy.
  • Santa Claus with a teddy bear (or with Pedobear)
  • A funny Cub Scout or Brownie (girl's group not small person).
  • A bear dressed like a British politician.
  • A bear dressed as a Roman Catholic Priest.
  • A bear with kids.
  • A bear in a football uniform, preferably the Chicago Bears.
  • A bear as a Chicago Cub.
  • A funny pic of a bear and a bull.
  • Walt Disney with Pedobear.
  • Chris Hansen with Pedobear.
  • Mary Whitehouse with Pedobear.
  • Pedobear clothing.
  • Pedobear toys.
  • Lots of Pedobear pics.

Remember this article is Pedobear as someone everybody loves! I might use some pic of Pedobear not being nice, like that's a smeer campaign.

I know I can't use them all, but please post links here to what you find or upload them and post here where they're at. Thanks! Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 00:45, September 12, 2009 (UTC)

WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 00:28, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Quick note. I've done a little shrinkage on the footnotes as that appears to be more in line the the wikipedia general style. I have not touched the text as there is so much involved in there and I don't want to screw with it without reading it a few more times over. But it is a good article on initial read. Partially agree with Why_blink.gif. The article is a long read, but a long article works if you can keep the reader entertained throughout the entire article. To that end it needs more images, and needs a little spit and polish, but happy to date. Two things that stick in the craw so far - the image of the "mascot" - remove the mascot reference and make it out that he is a player, as that works better within the text. The second in the Logo WaltDisneyCo image. It should be the 1920s PB, not the modern one. Oh, and can you also add in a reference to a PB sandwich? If you need to stretch it beyond breaking, then don't stress about it, but I kind of like the pun. Pup t 10:59, 19/09/2009
I'm the culprit who made the Walt Disney painting the modern Pedobear image. I see your point, and can easily make a different version as all I have to do it--well heck, I'll just do it. (But I'll leave it up to the primary author on which to use.) Also for whoever--the comparision at the bottom of three versions of Pedobear--do you think that's enough, or should there be some in between 1928 and 2009? I can do it, but that will take a fair amount of work. It took me longer than I thought it would to create the 1928 image. Might be easier if I knew how to draw. • Walt_Disney_Pedobear2.jpg‎ (a little bit original)

Thanks so much! I used a lot of your pics they really help the article! Can you do a pic of Pedobear where his eyes turn readred? Please see The touch eachother song. Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 04:52, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

Sorry I missed your request earlier. See Pedobear_eyes.gif WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 09:27, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

edit Dating math

I created the section "Dating math" at the primary author's request. Miley or anyone please look this over and see if it works. I hesitated adding another section to an already-long article, but it's hard to say no to Miley! WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 18:44, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Also Gottfried Leibniz who's added to this section is often considered a Renaissance man, and I think Isaac Newton might be too. You might want to substitute them for two of those on the list (adding them would, of course, make it longer). WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 18:55, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

I love your section! I might change some of the names but I want a variety. I don't want them all to be white men! Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 00:32, September 22, 2009 (UTC)
I'm glad you like it. But don't be afraid to delete or change it if you change your mind. I won't mind. Not too much. WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 02:49, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
Would it mess it up if it was C instead of B? Then it would be like A for adult and C for child. Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 06:29, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
No. It was A and B in the original formula, I think. I'll change it for you. If you don't want it that way, just revert it! WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 09:28, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

edit LOL

the article is soooo funny. the bit where nothing is hahaha HILARIOUS! The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mo0sicdork (talk • contribs)

Thanks! But what part do you mean? Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 00:45, October 10, 2009 (UTC)

edit Sailor Jupiter Caption

There has been a bit of an editing war going on between me and another user about an image caption, and I've decided to bring it up here. My caption says "A Sailor Scout being very modest." The other user's caption, and the original caption before my first edit, reads "A Sailor Scout showing her modesty." The point of this caption is that showing of a boy's underpants was considered modest, and hence the joke where Jupiter's underpants are showing. Personally, I thought my caption was more subtle, and actually made sense while still following the joke, whereas the previous caption didn't seem to make much sense in line with the joke. So yeah. Figured we could get some discussion on that. --Ryandom93 01:53, February 1, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, you're acting more mature than I am. Stop that! Seriously, I think it's great you brought it here. I personally find "showing her modesty" funnier because it's a ironic twist, and I like irony. But as Miley is the author of this, I'll defer to whatever she wants. WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 02:41, February 1, 2010 (UTC)
Thank to u both! "When a woman covers up, she is showing her modesty and not displaying herself unnecessarily." That's at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080803185933AARAqlW. Then there's "They tossed a sheet over her because her dress was short and it's inappropriate for her to be laying there showing her modesty to everyone" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLzRhea90aA Plus its a joke cuz when the Sailor Scouts transform they get naked on camera. I like showing her modesty better. :) Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 06:12, February 1, 2010 (UTC)
Oh! Thank you Miley, I didn't know that quote was the basis for your joke. I mean, yes, it is in the article, but in a slightly different context. Perhaps, then, it might be wise to put that quote somewhere in the article? Just a suggestion of course. Ryandom93 07:07, February 3, 2010 (UTC)
Ok I might add that quote. Thanks! Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 17:16, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

edit Yogi Bear

What about saying that Yogi Bear was pedobear's nephew? Or that Yogi Bear's criminal lifestyle was related to the three years that he spent being taken care of by pedobear? Maybe some family pictures? --Icons-flag-usTalkradio 20:03, April 2, 2010 (UTC) Yogi Bear

That could be good especially cuz a new pic of Pedobear looks like Yogi. But the prob is the article is already too long and I should cut some of it out. I just can't decide what to cut! I guess I'll have to check my Pee Reviews. Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 22:59, April 2, 2010 (UTC)

edit Video

The video was totally cool but now all you can see is the pic it doesn't play. Should it be taken out? Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 21:10, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

Too bad; I liked that video. Maybe you can link to it directly from the creator's site. WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 21:45, May 5, 2010 (UTC)
How do I do that? Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 22:08, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
I'll look for it, and if I find it, will add it for you. Also I think you made a good decision cutting much of the article and pasting it to Pedobear sidebar, although I would suggest you split that up with headings. I think Pedobear will work a lot better if shorter. Not that I have a problem with tall people. WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 05:23, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, but it looks to me like they've pulled the video. I'll look again later. For now, they do have this pic. WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 06:15, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
One more suggestion. You might want establish from the very beginning that people didn't know Pedobear was a real bear. Maybe a short sentence after the first: "Pedobear is not only an international celebrity and cultural icon, he is the most famous bear in history. Even though people didn't know he was a real bear." That's not necessarily great, but maybe something like that. WHY???PuppyOnTheRadio 05:27, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
