Ready for a collaboration? Anon created this page, typing the single word "porn" (pretty funny, huh?). I sporked some more stuff from Wikipedia on the breakfast cereal of the same name, to serve as an afterthought--but it is an afterthought without a thought. What is missing is the main section, on the character himself, to flesh out my assertion that he laid waste to Her Majesty's Fleet. Could you write a short bio with gallows humor that obviously parallels the career of some famous British naval officer? Spıke ¬ 11:57 22-Apr-13

Yes sure SPIKE. I'd be happy to. I'll try and get it done as soon as possible. I might do a Nelson bio style as no one will get the parrallel of a bio on Cunningham or Collingwood etc. as they are less well known. Today I was in compressing the gas out of your composition. However, by your count, you still have three more shipwrecks to describe. Spıke ¬ 16:54 9-May-13

This message was posted a long time after you asked me to give a biography for Cap'n Crunch. I meant could we do another collaboration? Sorry I haven't finished yet but I will. I like working on multiple articles at once so that I can refresh my ideas for each one. Thanks. edit Horatio Crunch IV

Hang about! Wasn't Cap'n Crunch meant to be a parody of the life of Nelson as stated [above]. What's with the WW2 bit? I'm not going to delete your input but I'm going to write the rest of the parody of Nelson's life underneath and ignore the bit you wrote as it won't fit in. Please feel free to explain how you'd like the biography to go but Nelson wasn't around in WW2. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 06:00, May 10, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, my addition does have this problem. I thought you were stalled and I added what I could, not knowing anything about British naval history other than limes and sodomy. You have finally fleshed out Nelson's life; I'll go in afterward to mince words as I did earlier. (One word I'll mince is "eye"; I want Crunch only losing an arm, to directly feed the "out-armed" pun.) What's left is way out of chronological sequence and features several incompatible endings.
By the way, the fact that Nelson did not survive to WW2 is not a huge problem. The article is not entirely about Nelson, and it would not hurt to have my text survive as a separate section, Crunch in World War II, with or without (I'd prefer without) a contrived explanation of how he was resurrected.
Now, I can't find where I originally sent this article to you to write a main section. It would be better if that text and this section were unified at Talk:Cap'n Crunch, where anyone will look for it, especially if he wanted to know how the article was conceived. Spıke ¬ 09:55 10-May-13

Ok I'll find the message you sent me. I didn't particularly enjoy writing the biography (if I'm honest) as I found it hard to make jokes out of Nelson's life (it's not a very funny life) and I also found the shipwrecks too repetitive. I got bored of my own writing it was quite bad. If you could touch it up and add in the jokes it could be a lot better. edit England expects that every man will...

Why did you change the "England expects" quote. "Shake his booty" isn't really correct English (although I get what it means). "Steal some booty" or "Take his [probably should have wrote "some" not "his"] booty" are more satirical and I think funnier phrases about the purpose of the Royal Navy at the time. Shaking a boot isn't even funny! Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 05:59, May 12, 2013 (UTC)

After studying the original phrase (and coding a link to Wikipedia so the reader could do the same), a slogan that rhymes with the actual one but is blatantly irrelevant strengthened the notion of Crunch's incompetence and was the opening to mention the flag man's suggested rewording. A slogan that suggested that the attack was designed to plunder booty was more serious, and the article never did anything with it. (Booty now is used in the Ebonics sense of "arse.") I will take your point on the grammar. Spıke ¬ 10:22 12-May-13

Never realised "booty" could mean arse. However in English-English "booty" refers to prize money taken from captured vessel, illegally done or "legally" done. "Botty" can refer to bottom but only in a childish way. "Booty" is not slang for "boot" however and I've never heard it used in this country (or any other country) before. Not sure what you meant by this comment:

  • Is it deliberately bad English?
  • Is it a joke about another Uncyclopedia-type site?
  • The English is so poor I can't comprehend half-of-it.
  • If it is a parody/joke then it has failed as I can't make heads or tails of it.
