[edit] Why songs get stuck in your head

Our brains act like radio receptors. When people do not listen to stations playing music, those radio waves are still floating around in the air, not being picked up by any receiver. Our brains capture the extra radio waves. Therefore, we hear the music and can’t get it out of our heads, at least until a crappier song comes along. Songs that get stuck in your head usually fit one of two categories: One: They are played on the radio often. Two: They are really crappy like your mom.

When a song is really crappy--example: The theme from High School Musical--people will seldom listen to it on the radio. The radio signals therefore have no place to dissipate and become more powerful. They keep building until they are finally powerful enough to get through you thick skull and into your brain. Unfortunately, your skull is too thick and your brain too spongy to allow the waves to pass back out. Therefore, it is stuck.

When a song is played on the radio often, the left over radio waves build up faster. They are unable to release the Extraendoeuphoricalogical Power, a power that is currently undergoing extensive research as a possible alternative energy source to the wind power generated by Al Gore's big mouth. This energy is so powerful not even all the radios in the country can dissipate its signal. It is able to "break" through the dense material of your skull and make itself at home.
