Sleeper X , better known by their fans as SeX, is a "Special" four-piece experimental Mental Health band from Perth, Western Australia.

Originally formed in late 2001 by vocalist/erectionist James Crossglans and guitarist No Wade Dude! Taylor, the SeX line-up was made ridgid in June 2002 by Chris Buttbutler (drums) and long-time collaborator and geriatric 'entertainer' Darth Shazams! (Bass, previously of False Teeth Acceptable Dinner Plans Inc and the cock-rock supergroup GayBake.)
To date the band have released three EPs: Everything You Know Is Krang (2004), Music For The Esteemed Roundeye (2005) and the Migrants And Mnemonics (An educational album for new "Visitors" to "Our Country") (2006), A split EP with Melbourne-based Ass-core act Ear Raita, plus various regional specific versions of their more popular works in both food-based, dance, morse code, Egg, brail, TTY, Ape, Crow and non-standard music media formats.
Recently they released a short film and behind the scenes and live footage on DVD , entitled Potato Head Farty (The names is based on the popular game "I Have A Venerial Disease")
James Crossglans has also performed solo on the critically acclaimed album and stage production 'James and the Giant Erection Pants' (1991), a Roald Dahl inspired Shock-Opera/Avant-Crunk Porn-Chanson opus (Later used as the soundtrack to the 1970's Italian porn film Bestiality Playbest
"We (himself and his erection) really enjoyed being in this production , It gave us (himself and his erection) a real environment to shine in, and those lucky many in the crowed every night got to shine it! (his erection). I was extremely delighted and excited every time we (referring to him and the erection) would fly off into the crowed, destroying the fourth wall(an erection) and taking the whole production to another level (of erection)"
Drycleaning expenses, from damaged, stained and "encrusted" audience members clothing, brough the production to an early close.

Having supported the Dirringer S-Express Plan in 2004, the band signed to local Perth label Fartel Music in Mai of whatever year it was and travelled to 1800's Melbourne for Los Fascion Week . The band parted ways with the label in Marge of 2006, forming their own label, On The Blob Records , later changed to Panty Liner Records, then Red Guard Records.
The Migrants and Mnemonics split EP, recorded in Taylor's room - (Dubbed "The Great White Hope" studio) at his parents house one day between forced bathtimes for not obeying the special rules and crying too much - and mastered at Ear Raita's House of Fuboobubouboobobaduboobore in Melbourne, is the first release for this flagellant label.
Though highly active in the Australian Macaroni scene, the band's penchant for noise-making, irreverent live performances (including the practice of Freemasonic rituals onstage and Cosplay), their charms akin to hey-day Spice Girls and hey day Hey Hey..., and unconventional instrumentation (i.e.: The Mega-Gourd and mic'ed up First Aid demonstrations/performances - though a majority of the demonstrations/performances are strangely always the bandaging of mock penis injuries) has earned them a reputation for innovation and spontaneity within avant-garde xXMuZiCaLXx circles. Additionally, lead singer, James Crossglans, is renowned in the local scene for the noticeable erections he gets on stage, garnering himself a large gay following, Spontaneity indeed!
[edit] The Mega-Gourd
This instrument is played exclusively by SeX and no other bands are allowed!
It consists of an African giant gourd with 5 guitar pick-ups attached to one side and a set of heavy-gauge bass strings strapped over them, a small skeleton is tied to the upper thin part of the gourd and its ribs are painted silver , to the thicker bottom part is attached no skeleton.
On top of the strings, which are subsequently on top of the pick-ups, are 3 thin bars of stainless plate steel with 15 holes drilled thought them at varying intervals dependent on the "warmth" wanted from the resulting sound.
Attached, to these strings and also the metal bars and also to the pick-ups, are microphones with wires leading to amplifiers to capture and project the resultant noise.
Inside the gourd is placed various glass beads of varying size and some wee skeletons, but none of the beads are to be over 15cm in diameter and the skeletons are not to be painted silver. Also with the beads, and wee skeletons, is usually packed some foam or paper to hold them to the edges of the gourd instead of them flailing loose within it.
Before playing the gourd this incatation must be read aloud whilst standing within a six pointed star painted with red paint on the floor:
""Hallelujah!" was the only observation That escaped Lieutenant-Colonel Mary Jane, When she tumbled of the platform in the station And was cut in little pieces by the train. Mary Jane, the train is through yer! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! We shall gather up the fragments that remain."
The instrument is played left to right with a prepared drum stick, one that is wrapped in aluminium foil or made of metal.

- Bassist Garth Adams is Married to prominent West Australian Post-Modern "PapArtist" Carla Adams.
- There are no redheads in Sleeper X , despite Garths insistence they hire one for sexual reasons
- Wade recently changed his name to Bernadette Peach , so please say hi next time you see him!
- Chris once swam from Fremantle harbour to Rottnest Island in support of Drummers Against Education
- James is addicted to Rodox magazine and is currently "nutting out" a sponsorship deal with them
- Wade caused controversy in Feb of 2008 when he let this spill in an interview: "yeah, I mean, I am gay. But, don't get me wrong... I'm a sucker for huge labia's. I love hottentot aprons as much as the next african." Disgusting.
