[edit] Biography

Jonathán Pérez (born July 1977), better known as Serio, is a Mexican American (Chicano) rap artist from Los Angeles, California, United States. His grandmother nicknamed him “Serio”, which in Spanish means serious because as a child he always had a serious look on his face. He was born and raised in Highland Park, a gang stricken Hispanic neighborhood where he didn't always make the right choices, he then later moved to Spokane, Washington.

Serio debuted as an artist in 2005. Prior to the release of his album Nightmares Turned Into Reality in 2006, he has moved as many as 113,000 units independently, with no distribution. Sales continue to be good from his independent label Serio Controla Records.

He has caused a buzz in the industry for someone so new and coming up so quick. His single “I’ve Got To Have You” off of his first album, had some rotation on radio stations throughout the United States. His next album "N. T. I. R. Part 2 The Revenge Of Serio" is scheduled for release sometime in 2008. His up coming single “In L.A.” features legendary rap artist Kid Frost also known as the godfather of Chicano Rap.
