Scientific theory
From Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia.
A clever and fun game used by scientists to create knowledge by guessing what might be happening in a situation and then waiting for somebody smarter to come up with a better sounding guess. If nobody makes a better guess before you get famous, then you win.

- The participants of a game of science is called a community. the community must be open to new players. If it isn't or want to play alone for a while behind closed doors it can instead play the game of culture and call themselves what they want.
- The community starts with collecting a deck of facts, observations, data, logical tools and assumptions called the stack.
- A card is drawn from the stack with face down and all the player gets a chance to guess what it is. The guess is called a theory and the first player to guess right gets to name the theory and is hreafter called the genius. He or she can choose to name the theory after the area of science (e.g. Theory of Gravity) or after themself (e.g. Newtonian Physics). Unless your guess is pretty darn good it will be relabelled with your name once disproved (i.e. when a better guess is made).
- In the play of Modern Science the most shrewed player, called the chansler, is elected to control the university bank, containing the plays fundings and stipendiates. The chansler have the right to fund whatever player he like with whatever reason, but he must not guess any theory himself in case he may be declared non objective
- Every player now gets the chance to disprove the genius by drawing new cards from the stack and hope that the genius might guess wrong, in case of which the teory falls and a new player gets the chance to be the genius. The genius may take the risk to draw cards instead, but this is not mandatory. He can instead choose to hold lectures about all the cards that already have been drawn.
- If the genius makes a guess that cannot be disproven, such as - I guess that next card will contain some useful information - an other player can challenge him by nominating himself as the Popper. Once a Popper has been declared, the genius and the Popper starts a new game heads up called Theory of science. This game must now first be solved before the game of science can go on. If the theory of science gets to weary, some other player can throw in a joker by crying Feyerabend . When this shout is heard every player is allowed to charge the chansler to try to grab as much stipendiates and fundings they ever can.
- A player may not guess less than one month after the previous guess so that scientific journals can have a chance to publish the theory and get their advertising revenue in.
- Support for new theories must not be built by organised vote, but must vaguely evolve within the scientific community and then leak into the public consciousness via dumbed down Popular Science publications.
- More than one theory can win as long as the player or his/her theory has become famous or at least entered the public consciousness.
