[edit] History
While having nothing to do with the Platonic concept of a Philosopher King, a band emerged from the frozen Canadian wilderness of Toronto with the same name. They attained a modicum of popularity in the tr00 progressive necrodeath vikingcore arena, although at the peak of their popularity, their frontman Jericho Levantine left the band to start up a career as an exotic dancer and form his own musical project, the math-rap group Zoloft.
After Jason Levantine's departure, the Philosopher Kings radically changed their sound after Lord Byron East was sick in bed and had a cold. While in his death throes, Lord Byron East had the brilliant idea to meld the best elements of progressive necrodeath vikingcore with the best elements of Romanian folk, and to combine these two disparate genres with smart pop hooks.
However, before Lord Byron East could spread the word to his bandmates, he died a gruesome death, in which his entrails flew from his chest cavity and spelt out the words "Will someone please clean this mess up?" on the wall. After cleaning up this mess, the remaining Philosopher Kings soldiered on as a two bass, one drum power trio and have enjoyed a great deal of critical respect on the clubbing circuit.
