Niue

Niue is an island formed of albatross droppings in the southern Pacifist Ocean. It is mainly known for its recent victory in the Ugliest National Flag of the World competition. Niue is not a member of the United Nations, fearing that it would have to learn to read and write after becoming a member. Niue has sponsored many (2) illiteracy campaigns around the world (in Niue and on an adjacent coral reef).

The economy of Niue has two branches. One is guano mining which though prosperus threatens the islands very earthly existence since you are not to carve away the pile of dung you are sitting at.
The second is selling internet domains to Swedes. The question why so many Swedes buy .nu domains is unclear, but it is thought to have something to do with Swedens severe consumer legislation, which fines trade goods disinformation with death penalty.

The arsome spread of the Niue internet domain combined with the exports of it's guano soil is making the country more and more virtual. With present development it is thought that the country will disappear into cyberspace sometime between 2012 and 2015, well before it is going to be swallowed by the rising Pacifist Ocean.
