Hello, I'm trying to administrate Unsaiklopedia, and I'm wondering how to use Special:Namespaces to add the Forum and Forum talk namespaces, so it's an actual namespace. Thanks! --~ Tophatsig 21:29, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
As I understand it, the forum is a special add-on written by Algorithm. It can be found here. Bone_F_clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 05/7 21:52
Thanks for the link. The forum extension would be nice for Unsaiklopedia, but I cannot install it since I have no access to FTP(It's probably already installed I'm guessing). Smiddle said something about needing to monkey around with Special:Namespaces to get it into being a real namespace - right now it's :Baurgs Hulundi for some reason. --~ Tophatsig 22:30, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
It looks like you already have the extensions. Go to got:special:namespaces, log on as an admin, click "Add a namespace prefix" to create 16: Forum and 17: Forum_talk, setting 'default' and 'canonical' both true. The namespaces are numbered, with 0-15 already used internally by MediaWiki. Talk pages are odd-numbered namespaces by convention.
You'll also need to copy whatever codes are on the Forum:Village Dump front page to the main page of your new forum, in order to tell the DPLforum to do its stuff. --Carlb 22:53, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks! Hopefully it will work... --~ Tophatsig 00:55, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
