Would a list of real-life kings (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_monarchs) with made-up nonsense about each one be funny? There are currently sixteen and contributors could 'adopt' a king whose name they liked, and if it got big enough they could have their own page? I need to know if this is a good idea or shit before I go ahead with it. (Sorry I don't know what tildes are and got bored looking.) Tilde. Like Tilda Swinton. But with an E instead of an A. Also, without the Swinton. Or, to put it another way, tilde = ~ (Shift + `, beside the 1). As for the List O' Current Monarchs, the idea has potential. It also has "List" right there in the title. Where it says "List". In the title. Lists encourage cruft. Cruft is bad. Individual pages on individual monarchs, individually, is probably better than a list of them. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 14:12, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I have found the tilda button now ~. The King List idea came from an in-joke about a King's Tunic but I saw potential for external appeal and made the page. The King List would be among similar lines but of course it's always good to have variety which is why I thought a collaborative effort would be better. If we do this we should be careful: there are about sixteen real life kings alive and reigning, and they are not legitimate targets like Martin lawrence. They don't deserve the same savage treatment. 80.7.124.17 20:54, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
"...there are about sixteen real life kings alive and reigning, and, they are not legitimate targets like Martin lawrence. They don't deserve the same savage treatment.". What? Does their living kinglyness put them above being savagely satirized for rising to such a high station by virtue of having parents who rose to such a high station by virtue of having parents who rose to such a high station by ...etc? If King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud is a two-faced Salafist who, like his predecessor, treads a fine line between fanatical Wahhabists and "the West"; using oil-profits to finance the export of militant Wahhabism (and, by extension, Sharia), to undermine (and eventually overthrow) the corrupt and despotic secular and democratic West, while his own country is mired in debt, unemployment and corruption, then who are we to not poke him with the pointy stick of pointed satire? Ah... you clearly have a less romantic, more realistic view of Kings than I do. I guess its ok if there's a legit reason to smear a King but I don't think the mere fact of them being king makes them a target by default (they didn't ask to be King). But yes if they have fucked up their Kingdoms for selfish or cynical reasons then fair play they deserve it.
If you're not willing to make fun of living Kings, I must admit I don't quite see how you'll be able to make a funny page about living Kings. But you know, whatever... --Strange (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 12:35, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
In my country we customarily raise out glasses and make a toast in honour of our queens genetalia.--Vosnul 13:21, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Surely making fun of something isn't the only possible way to be funny?! In any case to make fun of Kings in any meaningful way would involve research, and would inevitably get political, something I wanted to avoid.

I think it has potential, as long as there's a good section on them all, and it doesn't just turn into one big list of stuff. Spang talk 01:44, 28 Aug 2007
