Here are the facts, gentlemen. Formulate your own decision from them.

  • In November 16, I changed every single instance of "Grue" and "Grue 2.0" in Zork 3 to "G***", (and all instances of "Eurg" to "***g.") This is a joke that I stole from the Zork interactive fanfiction, Enlightenment, in which the word "Grue" cannot be used because all of the Zork names and properties are owned by Activision. My reasoning for misapplying that particular joke to Zork 3 is that, since the word "Grue" is used so often in the Zork games, the act of censoring every instance of the word would be hilarious.

And that, my friends, is why Zork 3 is in the sorry state that it is today. Also, obligatory poll. --L 06:45, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

I prefer the original gag. Nothing tops "What the hell's a Grue 2.0? I dunno, but you were just eaten by one RESTARTRESTOREQUIT". Plus, didn't some of the /activus missions distinguish between Grues and Grue 2.0s? It doesn't make sense with g***. --User:Nintendorulez 16:50, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

"I dunno, but you were just eaten by one" doesn't really strike me as comedy gold, personally. Okay, I admit that what I replaced it with wasn't much better, but it was intended to be less a joke and more an explanation as to why g*** is asterisked. --L 04:07, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Keep some of them censored and some of them saying Grue. You need to bring out the full potential of the Grue. Also, while we're on the subject, in Zork I there was a page that said that you successfully ate a Grue but were then eaten by a ham sandwich. Bring that back, I loved it. You refer to Game:Zork/eatGrue? The link to it appears at random on the Zork main page. There's also a sequel! --L 10:11, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
I dunno, its just not the same. I've been mistakenly bitten by fake Grues or characters pretending to be Grues. Its just not the same, its like you expect Grue, but somebody served you up a plate of Sally Struthers. You know, I want my death final by whatever means and not optional, as in how would you feel if the next screen popped up and read: Do you pick death or cake? --HPSigHP talk KUN Icons-flag-pi 06:35, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
How about this one? --User:Nintendorulez 15:26, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

It is dark. You are likely to be eaten by the dark, black, all-consuming evil that lies buried deep in the hearts of all humanity.

> What's the dark, black, all-consuming evil that lies buried deep in the hearts of all humanity?

I dunno, but you were just eaten by it.
