Guys, I don't know how we got here but I know that we have plenty of conflicts and no way to resolve them. I know that when the fork started, we lost the majority of our users, but I also know that we keep on losing them now, and even at an accelerating pace. Everyone seems to be trying to resolve the situation but nobody can deny that right now we are living through a major crisis that can ruin Uncyclopedia as a whole project especially after the fork breakdown.

Now, if you think that the situation is not critical, it is extremely disappointing, as you yourself bury the site to which you are contributing. The situation is critical and we have to solve it. Or we will die as a community.

Any solutions?

I am afraid that no single conflict can be resolved before the whole inside war is finished itself. So, my message is:

  1. Stop banning users! Any users, whoever they are, even vandals (see Forum:Our attitude towards users). Because bans have become primary reasons for conflicts. Do not use bans to prevent drama, they are just increasing it.
  2. Don't be afraid of drama. What we call drama are big conflicts and conflicts take place in any community. By trying to avoid it at all costs and by all means, you give birth to more drama. Let's face it: we will have problems and we cannot do anything about it. What we should do is to help others sort out their problems and not bury them in the ground.
  3. Give every single user a right to express himself and to criticize whenever, wherever and whatever he/she wants. When a user cannot express his opinion, even if he did not take part in a conflict, he will do this after his voice is banned.
  4. Stop criticizing others and try to give advice instead. If your advice are not well-taken, try to understand others' points of view. Try to understand why admins/users behave like they do and try to help them, rather than make them understand what you want them to understand. Take in account the fact that we all have our life and maybe our own personal problems, so be more tolerant and respectful!
  5. Don't be afraid to ask for help. If you ask others to sort your disagreement with a user, this does not create more drama, this is a healthy way to sort out a problem. Other users who may not take your problem very seriously, the way they would have taken their own, so they will bring some fresh thoughts and decisions.
  6. Finally, try to be friendly and ask others to be friendlier. If you want to criticize someone, review his work; if you want to promote yourself or a friend of your, nominate your or his article at VFH, etc. If we were all good friends here, there would not be a crisis, or at least we will be more ready for it than we are now.

Answer

Hello there Anton. I appreciate your goodwill but I believe there are some things that are wrong in your suggestions.

  1. Stop banning users, even vandals. This one really made me laugh! How can you be seriously proposing to let users vandalise and get away with it? Such a thing would be completely preposterous! Just because people here might get offended when banned doesn't mean the rest of us should watch Uncyclopedia getting destroyed by vandals who would not be punished to avoid further drama. I mean, that literally makes no sense!
  2. Don't be afraid of drama. Conflicts and arguments is one thing and distracting people from doing actually important stuff for no use is another. Drama is when a user seeks for attention, many times without even him realising it, rather than create articles or help Uncyclopedia in whatever other way possible and this is something we should be afraid of. Like you said, the situation now is critical. Dealing with drama is actually fun for me but now's not the time for it. When Uncyclopedia gets back on its feet maybe we can take drama with a more relaxed approach but for right now that's out of plans.
  3. Give every single user a right to express himself. I agree on this one and, fortunately, blocked users are allowed to edit their talk pages (I think?) and express their opinions. Only in very special occasions users are not allowed to edit their talk pages.
Anyway, the rest of your suggestions are just stating the obvious in some sort of way and are not worthy of a response. Long story short: Let's please cut the drama and all that nonsense and get back to our work, writing articles and keeping Uncy away from crap. I'm begging you, no more forums and such stuff! It was fun in the beggining but now it's simply annoying! Let's just forget what happened in the last couple of days! Please? --Mimo&Maxus (Talk) 21:37, October 20, 2013 (UTC)
I missed everything happening leading up to these rants and reconfirmations that uncyclopedia is the worse, which is a contradiction in terms anyway. Everything seems fine to me! Aleister 20-10

Can we please just have an actual vote to remove SPIKE's ops so SPIKE will finally stop his drama whoring and people will shut the fuck up and write comedy for once? A vote that doesn't get instantly closed, that is. AllahuAcky (talk) 23:04, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

And if the vote doesn't go your way does that mean that YOU would STFU and stop complaining about SPIKE and write comedy? Somehow, I doubt it. -- Simsilikesims(♀UN) Talk here. 23:10, October 20, 2013 (UTC)
Again, it is not that hard to undo vandalism. What I was talking about was the fact that we have conflicts because of bans and that's why they should stop before we resolve the situation.
Now, there is now way that we just forget what happened and begin writing articles (our favourite formula, by the way). Some of us can but some of us cannot, because they feel, worse, they know they have been shut up without them expressing themselves. It is very cool if you are calm (me too, I am) but don't think that only because of this there will be no more conflicts. If people complain about something, then there is always a reason. And this reason will never disappear, if we just shut up and get back to writing comedy. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 09:30, October 21, 2013 (UTC)
There is a difference between self-expression and bashing others (including the administration) on this wiki. Just like there is a difference between negative criticism and constructive criticism. Those with grudges may never be satisfied until they are allowed to continue bashing the object of their grudge. But this does not mean we should indulge them. Sometimes expressing negative emotion only gives rise to more negative emotion, until the cycle is broken. We cannot MAKE anyone change by sending negativity their way. It is time to break the cycle and move on. -- Simsilikesims(♀UN) Talk here. 12:24, October 21, 2013 (UTC)
