So I've been wondering for quite a while now why Uncyclopedia doesn't have an article on the Second World War. I mean we have World War II: The Movie, which is a good article in its own right however we don't have an actual encyclopedic-style parody version of a WW2 article. I have been thinking about doing one for a while but obviously an enormous challenge would face me and also I wouldn't include everything because I have been educated about WW2 the British way and so the war for me started in 1939 and not 1938 or 1941 so I would be too biased.

Then I thought why don;t we all get together as a community and collaborate on an article on WW2. That way they'll be less of a challenge if each individual writes a section or two, a chance for the noobs to get into writing, coverage of WW2 from multiple points of view (maybe a section with a Nazi bias) and it'll be bound to be good quality as with everyone writing we won't run out of ideas.

If you want to be involved in collaborating to write an encyclopedic-parody of a Second World War article as a community then just get in touch here. Thanks. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 16:06, August 30, 2013 (UTC)

It is a very good idea and I don't think I have any important comments concerning the project in general. Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 20:39, August 30, 2013 (UTC)
Since I seem to be here a lot more again now, and I never involved myself in such things last time, count me in.--Sog1970 (talk) 20:53, August 30, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks Sog. Good to get someone experienced. Not starting the project till I have a few more people. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 21:01, August 30, 2013 (UTC)

I said this a little while ago. I then got infini-banned. Never bothered to get back to it after that.                               Puppy's talk page09:16 30 Aug 2013

Said what? That you wanted to create a WW2 article? You won't get banned for that again. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 21:18, August 30, 2013 (UTC)
Too long a story, but the short is that WWII the movie used to be our WWII movie. That article was moved to make way for a project along these lines. Good to see someone is picking it up from here.                               Puppy's talk page09:28 30 Aug 2013

Depends on how you want to break this subject up. Each writer could start on a particular theatre of the war and start that way. For example The Foamy War, Montgomery's Dessert Campaign, Operation Youratossa, Vitamin D Day, etc or take it seriously but write in a deranged manner. That the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor was in retaliation against slitty eyed stereotypes (something the D of E still believes in). --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 23:07, August 30, 2013 (UTC)
I can't promise how much time I'll put in, but will play on the page for sure. This was a good idea with two fathers. Aleister 23:41 30-8-'13

Planning

OK guys thanks for the great reponse. I hope this community project does help keep our community together and friendly (by writing about hate and war)!

The question is what type of article? Romartus has put forward two ideas: Muck up the titles of each section and write about desserts instead of deserts and random things not to do with war or we keep the fact we are writing about a war however write our own version of events for each theatre and make up jokes based on word play and reasons for the war. If you have other ideas then please add them to the vote. Vote:

Write about WW2 but write about random facts and timelines for each theatre/section

Score: 0

Write about WW2 keeping basic facts and timeline of events for each theatre/section but add jokes in for minor details and reasoning for conflicts

Score: 5

So?

When do we start? I suggest that everyone chooses one sub-topic and starts writing about it in his userspace. If two people want to write about the same thing, they can collaborate. And we can actually create many articles about many different campaigns and the Second World War article will have a bit of each one with a link on each section.

Or do you have any other ideas? Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 12:17, September 3, 2013 (UTC)

To pick an unfashionable theatre, I'd happily do Italy and the Balkans and try to leave North Africa out of it so someone can do that more fully. --Sog1970 (talk) 12:52, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
I know a lot about North Africa but find it hard to write comedy about it, as displayed here.
I shall start the article in my namespace for conveniences sake. Please add to it. No deadline. Please write here: User:ScottPat/Second World War. Thanks. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 13:01, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, ok, sure. Do you think that if we have a lot of information about a particular event we can create a separate article on it, like Battle of Normandy? Anton (talk) Uncyclopedia United 14:07, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
Definitely. All the sections on this article are snippets of the events. Use wikipedia page to guide you. Sir ScottPat (talk) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 14:19, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
The usual thing is to have, in italics at the top of the paragraph, a statement along the lines of "Full article at XXXXXX". If there are any bits left over that no-one wants to write, I'm not too fussed. I could probably manage a paragraph or two. Sir Reverend P. Pennyfeather (fancy a chat?)
