From Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia
Newbie here. Stumbled on your site today from a Golf Forum Link. I was just trying to get an idea if I could contribute to the site by inputting some of the articles that I have created for my own "Encyclopedia of Lies". However, when I searched on Items like Rap Music, Womens Lib, Christopher Columbine (there are reasons why Columbus discovered America and he didn't), there were just some text hits from other non-related articles. Also checked out your Aplha key list when that feature mysteriously showed up after a search.So it appears to me from the results, that no definitive discourse on these important topics exist. Is that correct?
Also, I reviewed your instructions for beginners. Pretty well incomprehensible I would say. I'm totally web code illiterate. Is there a Uncyclopedia for Dummies book, or are you just trying to discourage computer illiterates from contributing?126.96.36.199 15:30, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- Given that Uncyclopedia is an internet-based entity, "computer illiterates" are probably already at a severe disadvantage. That notwithstanding, if it's simple editing and formatting help you're after, I recommend Help:Editing, which is linked at the bottom of every edit page. Otherwise, the best thing to do is to just start writing, and when you get stuck trying to make something pretty, ask an admin. -- |c|o|d|e|i|n|e| 15:44, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Codeine; Thanks for the quick response. However, you didn't answer my "Search Feature question". That's OK though. I imagine from my experience in various forums that the Administrator's/Moderator's life is a busy one.
As far as my literacy goes I said web illiterate not computer illiterate. There is a big difference. So I have all these parodies and satirical articles with graphics etc. already written in Open Office. Is there an easy way to copy them over? Of course that would be after I figure out how to officially sign on, create an identity, and set up pages or whatever. Hey at this point I'm still optomistic. I really hadn't planned on rewriting hundreds of previously written pages.

- My first piece of advice is on capitals. Generally, the first letter of an article title is capitalised and none thereafter (unless it's a name or place, etc). This should make searching easier. Searching "Rap music" redirects you to rap. This is a featured article, so proceed with caution when editing it.
- To find an article, type the title in the search box and click "go". If the article doesn't exist it will give you the search results page. At the top of the search page it will say "You searched for women's lib (all pages starting with "women's lib" |all pages that link to "women's lib"). Women's lib will be a red link (this means it doesn't exist). Click on the red link and it will send you to the edit page where you can create your article. You will probably need Help:Editing, to figure out things like links, headings and pictures. To register, click that link at the top right of the page. I've only done this once, but it should be self-explanatory. -- 19:45, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
