This question was already stated in another forum page, but it wasn't noticed (or something). That's all right. Here goes again: What's the chief purpose of using {{subcat}} instead of a category to categorize a category page? — Lenoxus 04:27, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

It's a hack to work around MediaWiki only displaying a few of the sub-cats on each cat page. The key part of the template is the leading space. See this on bugzilla for more info. Alksub - VFH CM WA RV {talk} 06:53, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
