Wikia has been experimenting with making pages render faster. You may be aware of the optimizations of YouTube videos included in Uncyclopedia articles, and of the "Table of Contents bug" discussed nearby.

One side-effect may be at the Village Dump catalog and the UnNews Front Page. These pages both use a technology called DPL to assemble a list of other Uncyclopedia pages of recent interest. It seems that, when you add a page that should be included in this list, Uncyclopedia no longer runs DPL to recompute the list. So your new UnNews does not appear in the list of recent articles, or your new Forum is not in the catalog. A workaround is to view the Village Dump or Front Page, go up to your browser's URL bar, and add to the end: ?action=purge -- This "purges" any result of DPL that may be stored in Uncyclopedia and forces Uncyclopedia to re-run the DPL and recompute the list of pages.

Yes that's all very well for us but will this change in the future so that the average anon reader can read up to date material without having to find this forum? Sir ScottPat (converse) White Ensign Scotland Flag 1 Compassrose VFH UnS NotM WotM WotY 20:33, March 13, 2014 (UTC)
Random anon reader won't have to provided random anon author purges the page to show his new work. I think we also encountered this on VFH and Puppy modified the buttons to purge it for us. Spıke Ѧ 20:38 13-Mar-14
PS--As, in fact, the green logo on the UnNews Front Page to the right of the Facebook logo does not represent nematodes conjugating, but a way to purge the list just below it. Spıke Ѧ 22:08 14-Mar-14
Once a page is purged the content remains static until another edit/purge. High traffic pages with DPLs are probably the most important ones the should be purged regular like. If we change the links in the sidebar to a purging link, that will update these pages each time a user clicks on them (even an anon). We could potentially change these over with no foreseeable negative impact (except a mildly higher server load.)                               Puppy's talk page03:19 am 16 Mar 2014
