the most recent edition of our prestigious writing competition ended in august '08...six months ago. when is the next one? who ran the last one? SirGerrycheeversGunTalk 19:28, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

IIRC I ran the last one. The chances of me running the next one: Zilch. We'll have to look for someone else - hey, how about that Gerrycheevers?  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  SU&W) 19:32 Feb 20, 2009
HOLY GOD WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!? don't sneak up on me like that again, ok? SirGerrycheeversGunTalk 19:43, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Hey, look at that, Gerrycheevers went all capitalized over Dr. Skullthumper. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 21:50, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
SKULLTHUMPER IS BACK!!! -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 20:51, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
I was about to ask this myself, actually, since PLS seems like a great response to the "dwindling amounts of writers" thing. If no-one else has a burning desire to run it, I could do it if you want. –—Hv (talk) 20/02 20:34
Seems like you just volunteered. You got two weeks, otherwise I will track you down and kill you and if you need my help let me know ~Jewriken.GIF 21:24, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
what the hell did I just see Mordillo being nice in small text what the hell  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  SU&W) 21:31 Feb 20, 2009
cool, thanks hv, and good luck, i am willing to help also. i was also going to ask about conservation week, but i guess we can do that after the PLS is wrapped up. SirGerrycheeversGunTalk 21:35, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Two weeks it is then, folks. /me hates self for volunteering, will ask for help if necessary. –—Hv (talk) 20/02 21:38
if you don't feel like taking on the burden, i'll be willing to do it, just say the word. SirGerrycheeversGunTalk 21:42, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
incidentally, the word is 'antiquing'. SirGerrycheeversGunTalk 21:43, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Poo Lit Surprise status: In a relationship

Honestly though, who'd date that piece of shit?  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  SU&W) 21:32 Feb 20, 2009

interesting, thanks for the update. last i saw PLS was 'it's complicated' with FFW. SirGerrycheeversGunTalk 21:34, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Early call for judges

May as well get this started now, so that this doesn't take months to prepare for: Anyone who wants to judge any of the categories, just give the word below (remember you can't enter the category you are judging, you can however enter the other categories you are eligible for). –—Hv (talk) 20/02 22:09

i would be honored to be a judge. SirGerrycheeversGunTalk 22:11, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Hooray, we have our first judge! You can pick your category here, just put your sig next to the first judge number of the category you want to judge. –—Hv (talk) 20/02 22:17
I need to be a judge in order to fill my resume. -Bretthead
I can judge, providing I can enter one as well.--Sycamore (Talk) 10:07, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
If you judge, you can enter in all categories except the one you are judging (and best noob, obviously). –—Hv (talk) 21/02 10:14
Damm, I had hopes for writing best noob article!--Sycamore (Talk) 10:15, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
And you would have got away with it too, if it wasn't...nah, can't do that joke. So what category d'you want? –—Hv (talk) 21/02 10:45
I don't mind too much maybe best article or best namespace?--Sycamore (Talk) 11:44, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
It's your pick - just fill your name in on that link up a bit when you've decided. –—Hv (talk) 21/02 12:10
'Ang on, I thought the "judges entering other categories" thing went a bit controversial last time, and a discussion I hazily recall and lizily can't be arsed to find had a vague consensus to not do that again in future. This being what was then the future, doesn't that mean we should not be doing that? --UU - natter UU Manhole 19:39, Feb 21
UU's right - there was an agreement not to use the "judges can enter except in the category they are judging" rule ever again. If you're a judge, you're a judge only, and you can't enter the contest.  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  SU&W) 19:42 Feb 21, 2009
I remembered something right? Does this mean I'm not senile yet? Hah, in your face ageing process! --UU - natter UU Manhole 19:45, Feb 21
[EC] [Grr double edit conflict] /me reads. Yup, that was the consensus - I'll go change the stuff. Gerry, Syc, if you want to change your minds, go ahead. The only thing I'm thinking now is how hard will it be getting fifteen experienced people who don't want to participate but want to judge. –—Hv (talk) 21/02 19:47
Sadly I'll probably have to discount myself because of this, I'm keen to enter my own work - I have felt that judges entering was a bit off, I think however we'll have the problem of having weaker judges.--Sycamore (Talk) 14:01, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
I thought it would be kinda interesting if previous winners who are still active judged the category they won last time. No way to really enforce it, so it's just a suggestion, but it might net a few judges to start with? --UU - natter UU Manhole 19:56, Feb 21
That's a decent idea; looking at last time's winners - Modus is active, Mickey and Cap'n Ben are there a bit and the other two haven't been here for a while, so that's 1-3 more if they agree, which would help. –—Hv (talk) 21/02 20:01
Maybe next time. I've judged a bunch of times already. Every time, in a odd coincidence, I voted for a mystery IP who was not a sockpuppet of me. Obviously. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 22:05, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
I would like to be a judge, seeing as it's near impossible for me to write anything on demand, but I can criticize people's work on demand. Is this OK? Necropaxx (T) {~} 22:01, Feb 21
That's more than fine - just pick your category here. –—Hv (talk) 21/02 22:06
I picked Best Article, with Syc. Necropaxx (T) {~} 22:13, Feb 21
i'll still judge. it would be an honor, and also spare me the shame of losing. SirGerrycheeversGunTalk 13:23, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

I volunteer to judge best image, because I'm too lazy to write an article, and also too lazy to judge an article. -RAHB 22:07, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Oh wait. We don't have a best image. Well, best noob then. -RAHB 22:20, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
It's always been best illustrated hasn't it? –—Hv (talk) 21/02 22:25
Yeah, it has. I was thinking of the Aristocrats Ball for some reason. -RAHB 22:29, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

I'll judge best illustrated. It will give me something to do... - UnIdiot | GUN | Talk | Contribs - 23:58, Feb 21

Done and done. –—Hv (talk) 25/02 18:53

I would like to judge best illustrated also. IronLung 20:31, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Big reply to the above few: Led's done it himself, other three: Any preferences as to category or should I just slot you in anywhere? –—Hv (talk) 27/02 07:59
Preferably judging individual contributions, but I'm very flexible. Put me in wherever you need judges most. Sir Not A Good Username360Stress KUN 21:56, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
No preference, put me under whatever you need me. - RougethebatAdmiral Enzo Aquarius-Dial the Gate SonicLivesPicture 00:49, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Not A Good Username, looking at your contribs, you only joined earlier this year, right? Have you seen a PLS go down before? It might be a good idea to get one or two under your belt before you start judging... - T.L.B. Baloon WotM, UotM, FPrize, AotM, ANotM, PLS, UN:HS, GUN 00:57, Feb 28
Heh, I thought you'd wonder about that. I spent two weeks reading archives in Janurary. I know all there is to know about PLS that was catalougued, and I've memorised every writing tip in the book (see, I was gonna try for NotM, but my account hit one-month status before I got good at writing). Don't worry, rest assured that I am familiar with every Award at Uncyclopedia and how they are earned. Sir Not A Good Username360Stress KUN 01:34, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Also, I bore witness to the PLS of Janurary/Feburary. And that makes one under my belt. So, am I in or out?Sir Not A Good Username360Stress KUN 01:52, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Oh, nice. I get to judge Best N00b Article. Very funny. And yet... I still am honored. Thank you very, very, VERY much. Sir Not A Good Username360Stress KUN 02:05, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Oh I can never say no to you...

They better be good, you heathens. --THINKER 00:44, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Ah, thinker, taking his own headline to draw attention to himself as usual, eh?  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  SU&W) 06:23 Feb 23, 2009
Um, yeah? THINKER; my statements take priority. Especially when its to say that I'm taking this competition upon myself yet again to ensure a fair and competent judging because the rest of the site is either too lazy or wants to compete. I run shit around here. You just live here. :) --THINKER 15:49, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

If you need a judge, I'm open. Not feeling at interested in writing anything for PLS this year. Let me know. Dame PPsigPPlips.gifGUN PotY WotM 2xPotM 17xVFH VFP Poo PMS •YAP• 15:50, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

We've got two spots left. Would you rather judge the rewrites or alternate namespace? –—Hv (talk) 1/03 16:10
Either. I've judged rewrites. Never the name space. Whatever you decide. Happy to be a member of the team. Dame PPsigPPlips.gifGUN PotY WotM 2xPotM 17xVFH VFP Poo PMS •YAP• 03:01, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
I gave you Alt. Namespace, just so you know. Welcome aboard! That makes fourteen: Who wants the last spot? –—Hv (talk) 2/03 15:56

I'll judge whatever again. --Littleboyonly TKFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK Oldmanonly 20:32, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Rewrites it is, since that's the last thing left... and we have all our judges! Thank goodness for that. –—Hv (talk) 2/03 20:40

I have a bigger headline

And I can do mainspace. By "do" I don't mean taking it out for dinner and buying it drinks only to make sure that I can shag it later on, I mean judge articles under that category. ~Jewriken.GIF 13:53, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Well, there are some very attractive articles out there... done. –—Hv (talk) 26/02 20:31

Hey, me too!

Just as a side thought (I sometimes get those, you know), if not enough judges sign up, am I allowed to judge more than one category? Necropaxx (T) {~} 16:37, Feb 26

For now, I'm going to say no, for no more reason than that variety is the spice of life (very tasty on potato wedges, btw). but if anyone has a good argument and/or there's still less than about ten by a week on Saturday, I'm open for argument there. –—Hv (talk) 26/02 20:31
'Kay. Necropaxx (T) {~} 16:46, Feb 27

Question

The PLS rules state that "Articles created prior to the competition cannot be submitted."

Does that go only for mainspace, or for everywhere? If I started writing an article in userspace right now, would it be disqualified? If I started writing an article in Microsoft Word right now, would it be disqualified? Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 19:53, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, it'd be disqualified, according to the rules you're not allowed to start until the PLS officially opens (which, if we get the judges, is pegged for the 9th of March right now). –—Hv (talk) 21/02 19:56
And he'll come over to your house and check your Microsoft Word files personally. ;-) --UU - natter UU Manhole 19:59, Feb 21
But what if all I have right now is a concept and a piece of text plagiarized from some movie? -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 00:07, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
