It is rare that a person with no constructive skills can "make a difference in the community," and our twice-weekly vandal who uses sleeper accounts to move a variety of high traffic pages through a series of garbage names has convinced all active admins to ask Wikia to restrict the move operation to trusted users with the rollback privileges. PuppyOnTheRadio has toyed with the idea of setting up an automated system where users could request a move and those with the privilege could grant it with a single button-press.

Thanks for help fixing today's vandal/page mover. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 14:20, December 16, 2015 (UTC)

I had the great fortune of sleeping in this morning and thanks to you for handling his latest visit. As usual, the logs do not show when he created the account but it is obviously a "sleeper" waiting to grow a Move button. OP states at QVFD that the meat of one of our VFD archives is missing; I looked around but could not find it. Spıke Radiomicrophone14:50 16-Dec-15
Belay that; the page in question is available through the list of archives at VFD. Swag-train now has HowTo:Travel in Japan restored as well. Let me know if more got lost in this attack. Spıke Radiomicrophone15:49 16-Dec-15
I found the archive and restored the correct one. I did notice all the Archived votes to delete pages were unprotected (except a few I have changed liked 140,141, 142). --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 15:58, December 16, 2015 (UTC)
Saw that. Repair is much less taxing than figuring out what he did after the fact. Given the state of our tools, I continue to be interested in further restricting page-moves, but EStop and Simsie ought to weigh in. Spıke Radiomicrophone16:52 16-Dec-15
In light of the biggest "chew" being fixing the page-move vandalism, plus our "pro-vandals" — tragic as that is — are prepared to wait for a move button, makes the decision to restrict the move button privilege to rollbackers and sysops seems a bit of a no-brainer to me.
We restrict access to a single page if it is a vandal magnet, but allow the more harmful page name changes to anyone that has been here more than a dog-watch!
Anyone that is not autopatrolled should have an article reviewed before mainspacing anyway or we just end up moving it back, so an experienced editor should be involved in the mainspacing process anyway. It is a slight workload increase but will surely compensate if prevents having to hunt for pages to restore.
How about setting up a page (like QVFD) for page-move requests? If considered viable, we would need to add this to the instructions/welcome pages.  EStop Easy button 08:46, December 17, 2015 (UTC)
I think we can restrict this page moving business and see how it works out. Good editors (they can be usually spotted by their interaction with others here) can be promoted to rollbackers pretty quickly if an admin thinks they're doing a good job. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 09:29, December 17, 2015 (UTC)
I asked Simsilikesims yesterday by email and she replied, "I would not be against this change. Actually, given the small number of productive contributors lately, I think this would be a good idea." I'll request this of Wikia. Spıke Radiomicrophone13:17 17-Dec-15

Tim Quievryn advised me at 20:19 UTC yesterday that this went live. Expert3222 now says Rollbackers were also shorn of their Move buttons and I have forwarded this complaint. Spıke Radiomicrophone03:57 22-Dec-15

At 20:19 UTC yesterday I played Yahtzee. I lost on a technicality but all of my toenails have since grown back. Matt lobster (talk) 00:02, January 3, 2016 (UTC)
You're lucky, if you'd have waited to 20:21 you'd need to re-grow your toes.  EStop Easy button 11:31, January 4, 2016 (UTC)
